"Hmmm?" Joanna asked, not getting what he was saying at first. She followed his eyes and saw the sonic...thing...he always had sticking out and realized what he was trying to say. "Mmkay."
She was going to have to get it, but that wouldn't be easy. Her feet weren't tied. She tried to stand up. She was short enough she had to tilt the chair forward for her feet to reach the floor, and she nearly fell over due to the awkwardness of it. Good balance saved her. She had to shuffle awkwardly and very slowly over towards him. She had no idea how she was going to get the screwdriver from his pocket without hitting him with the legs of her own chair.

Joanna tried not to think of the things that might be done to them as she pulled at her restraints. She'd been restrained enough times to have an idea of how to get out of some things, but this was a new one, and everything was pulled tight. She could only move most of her body a few inches.
She swore. "Yeah, how exactly are you proposing we do that?" she asked. "I can hardly move."

Joanna pulled and struggled against her bonds, but there was little chance she was going to be able to free herself. She was held down by some kind of big straps, across her chest, waist, and of course, holding down her arms and legs. The restraints resembled something she might see in a movie. About the only thing she could move around with any freedom was her head.
"Hey, hey" she practically hissed at the Doctor, strapped down similarly near her. "We're in a little bit of trouble here. What the hell's going on? What are they wanting to do to us?"

"So, an organization, but not a government one" Joanna said. At least the government wasn't behind this. Joanna wasn't a very political person but already didn't trust a lot of things the government did as it was.
She kept driving, trying to decide which of the shopping center's exits she wanted to drive out of, when Reagan said she wanted Joanna to let her out. Joanna's head whipped over for a second before she remembered she was driving. "Are you crazy? What are you going to do, shoot them? Or do you think you'll hide on foot from them?"
She looked back. "I only see one at the moment. I don't think there are any others..." Her voice trailed off. "I know a few tricks. Might need some new tires after tonight."
"That is being a little bit of a rebel" Joanna, who knew a little about such things, said. "I can't say I ever had to run from some organization trying to kidnap me. Maybe some criminals I pissed off."
She trailed off a bit and was quiet for a couple of seconds, now focused on the car behind them. "I only noticed one so far. I...kind of have an eye for being followed" she admitted. "But if it's the guys after you, they'll be good. I don't know, they just feel like they're following us. People who know what they're doing usually leave more distance, but it's almost like they're trying to intimidate me. Then again, wouldn't be the first time to attract a tailgater. I'm going to turn down this side street ahead, see what they do. Don't look like the kind of street many people would be going down."
She hit her blinker fairly late, after she was already breaking, and downshifted as she turned. The car dropped back only slightly and made the turn with her.
"Shit" she muttered. "I think we might be followed." She hit her blinker again and turned into the shopping center, the last thing before the road darkened considerably as it headed out into the sticks, or who knows where. She definitely didn't want to be followed down that road. The car turned into the next entrance and circled back around towards them.
"We're definitely being followed" she said, some tension now in her voice. She wasn't going to dare stop in the shopping center parking lot. "I still can't tell if there are any others. I'm going to try to swing back into traffic in a hurry, try to lose them."

"I tend to attract...questionable guys" Joanna admitted. "Not helped by the fact I like guys with a bit of an edge. But those are a lot of the guys you run into in bars and such, and probably not a lot of nice boys are going to go after a woman with a life like mine." She got quiet, thinking about a missed opportunity when she was younger she didn't want to dwell on.
She shoveled some more popcorn in her mouth before continuing. "I learned all my 'guy stuff' from my grandfather. My daddy couldn't be bothered to deal with me." She left it at that. "Hey, I'll carry things around, but I don't think I'm fixing to be picking up a bunch of big things. So, does Daisy sleep with you? And is she a good security system?"
"Sure, maybe I'll call up Katherine. We can go out, have a couple drinks, maybe get hit on by some guys, hopefully some good ones for once." She moved a red curl out of her face. "Good, you whip their asses and I'll zap them if they get in here." Joanna didn't want to say she'd made a few people made enough they might come after her if they knew where she was. She didn't think they were still after her, though.
"I can't say I ever fixed much else besides cars. I can do a little bit of other repair work. I fixed a leaky faucet once. I liked having the guys around to lift the heavy stuff" she admitted. "I got in the cars and put myself in positions they had trouble getting into."
Joanna grabbed a little more popcorn. It was getting low. "So, we taking turns staying up and watching the car while the other sleeps, or what?"

The most likely thing you'll see her wearing, assuming the weather is warm enough, is a t-shirt and either denim shorts or a denim skirt. She'll wear a jacket if it's colder, and although she's done the tights under skirt look before, now she'll usually just put on jeans instead. She does love flowery sundresses, though.

13. When do they fake a smile? How often?
Dealing with some relatives, sometimes. She doesn't have a great relationship with some of them. She tries to get along with them, mostly for her grandmother's sake.
17. What do they notice first in the mirror versus what most people first notice looking at them?
I'd guess most people notice her hair first, with maybe a smaller percentage of people noticing her body. Joanna tends to notice her face.
