APRIL 15TH 1912 - TITANIC SINKS
Captain Smith demands that an emergency request for assistance be broadcast to all ships within range. However the nearest ship, the Californian, has turned off her wireless for the evening after receiving Phillips’ curt response earlier in the evening. Tragically, the ship was a mere 20 miles away and could have reached Titanic before she sank. Captain Smith gives the order to start loading the lifeboats on the Titanic, women and children first.
At 12.45am the first lifeboat is launched. She leaves with just 28 of a possible 65 people on board. The first of eight emergency distress rockets is fired. At 2.20am Titanic slips beneath the surface of the water. At 8.30am The last of the lifeboats is rescued by the Carpathia. The Californian arrives at the scene and navigates the disaster area looking for survivors. The Carpathia sets sail for New York, with 705 survivors aboard. In total around 1,522 victims are believed lost at sea. Aboard Carpathia, Bruce Ismay sends a telegram to the White Star Line’s New York office - it read "Deeply regret advise you Titanic sank this morning after collision with iceberg, resulting in serious loss of life. Full particulars later."
More than 1,500 people died during the sinking of the Titanic. Of the ship's crew members, approximately 700 died. Another high fatality rate was among third class passengers. Of approximately 710 passengers in third class, around 174 people survived.

"On 11 April 1970, Apollo 13 launched right on schedule at 13:13 military time. How ironic, all those 13s! What is not generally appreciated about Apollo 13, however, is that the crew came nearest to dying during their launch, not as a result of their in-flight accident.
'Houston, we’ve had a problem,' Lovell reported.
I was at Mission Control with the Apollo 13 wives when Jim uttered his masterpiece of understatement. Initially the crew thought that the loud bang might be a meteoroid hitting the lunar module. But it was far worse.
Tumblr media
The flight of Apollo 13 in its entirety lasted for 145 hours. About 90 of those came after the accident. I was awake and either in meetings or in the lunar module simulator for about 120 of them. It’s hard to believe all the work it took to achieve the crew’s safe return. That work was done in Mission Control, in the simulators at the Cape and in Houston, and all over the Manned Spacecraft Center.
Tumblr media
Like all the rest, I was delighted to see Jim, Jack, and Fred get back alive, because when I was watching the second oxygen tank leak, I thought for sure we had lost them."

Hi, Tumblr. It’s Tumblr. We’re working on some things that we want to share with you.
AI companies are acquiring content across the internet for a variety of purposes in all sorts of ways. There are currently very few regulations giving individuals control over how their content is used by AI platforms. Proposed regulations around the world, like the European Union’s AI Act, would give individuals more control over whether and how their content is utilized by this emerging technology. We support this right regardless of geographic location, so we’re releasing a toggle to opt out of sharing content from your public blogs with third parties, including AI platforms that use this content for model training. We’re also working with partners to ensure you have as much control as possible regarding what content is used.
Here are the important details:
We already discourage AI crawlers from gathering content from Tumblr and will continue to do so, save for those with which we partner.
We want to represent all of you on Tumblr and ensure that protections are in place for how your content is used. We are committed to making sure our partners respect those decisions.
To opt out of sharing your public blogs’ content with third parties, visit each of your public blogs’ blog settings via the web interface and toggle on the “Prevent third-party sharing” option.
For instructions on how to opt out using the latest version of the app, please visit this Help Center doc.
Please note: If you’ve already chosen to discourage search crawling of your blog in your settings, we’ve automatically enabled the “Prevent third-party sharing” option.
If you have concerns, please read through the Help Center doc linked above and contact us via Support if you still have questions.

5 TYPES OF DANIEL BRÜHL CHARACTERS
After watching 40+ of his works, I've noticed the roles that he plays often fall into these five categories...
#1 - because he's German, obviously, a Nazi. The bottom two are a little niche as he plays 'unwanted Nazi admirer'.
Tumblr media
#2 - guy you can take home to meet your parents. He's played way too many of these—it's a given with that beautiful baby face—but these would be my top five. Bottom layer gets extra points for being a good friend to the elderly.
Tumblr media
#3 - opposite that is the guy your parents warned you about. It seems Daniel has a lot of fun playing these, especially the top layer, which leans on the love-to-hate category. I can't tell if it's just my distaste for The Face of an Angel, but I also considered adding Thomas Lang. Could be why Chris in Cargo made it here as well... because what even was that movie.
Tumblr media
#4 - now we have 'man in way above his head by the situation his political ideologies have gotten him into'. You almost always need a trigger warning for the films these characters are in as they will absolutely gut you. They're often based on real people and events. So you will learn something about history while Daniel gets tortured into a pulp.
Tumblr media
#5 - and finally, 'expert in his field, kind of an asshole, but hella breedable'. Most of my favorite characters are in this category... I don't know what that says about me.
Tumblr media
Is it cheating to place Zemo a second time? I don't care. He feels like an entirely different character.
