You know what the most apt metaphor for modern "fans" is, like the infamous Raxis for example? Black holes. When a black hole appears in the universe, everything around it is warped and stretched until it finally gets sucked inside and nothing, not even a tiny ray of light, is allowed to escape its influence. Fans like Raxis are like black holes, because everyone else in the universe MUST have their moral values warped until He Gets What He Wants (in this case, for everyone to worship Edelgard).

I believe the black hole metaphor can indeed be broadly applicable certain BNF mentalities because they're all about trying to establish themselves as authorities within their own communities. It's an unfortunate reality that those who are loud and aggressive enough but who can also manage not to piss off everyone around them can really drag down the experience of fandom for so many others.

This even occurs internally; a few weeks ago I remember reading an exchange in their Discord in which a lesbian fan made some criticisms of Edelgard's canon writing (several of which I've made in my own work) and the way that even Edeleth fans can get divisive over its M/F and F/F variants. Said fan was then attacked by others, including Raxis who got angry that this fan was accusing the straight men in the server of speaking over her. I don't know if there was any private resolution to that debacle, but it seems that that person has since left their server. It's rather unfortunate; hopefully she finds a less hostile community elsewhere.

Hey Raxykins, since you're having a bit of an issue here's a tip; when I go through the effort of tagging something as character hate, not spelling out a character's name in the tags to be sure it doesn't pop up on search results, putting the post under a read more so you don't have to scroll past it, and blocking you so you can't be bombarded by my dreadful awful takes in the first place, it turns out it's astonishingly easy to not read my posts if they make you so upset reading them.

Something that @nilsh13 posted the other day brought a thought I had a while ago back to my mind.

You know how some guys - often cisgender and white and better known as dudebros - like to paint women as inheritly pure and innocent? A.k.a. deny that female sexuality exists? And by extension sometimes declare that Lesbian love is so pure and everything, with the clear implication being that when two women have sex, it's not actually sex?

I personally think that's infantilizing.

Sexuality is an inherent, normal part of (allosexual) adulthood, regardless of gender. By denying that women have sexuality, they deny us a part of adulthood - a part of maturity. Which is textbook infantilization, and therefore misogynistic. Because if women lacked an inherent part of adulthood and maturity, who is to say they wouldn't lack every other part of it as well? It's something that can open a can of worms.

Not to mention that I personally do not like it when other people talk about my feelings, especially when it comes to people who do not share my experience. Those emotions are mine, I am the only one who can describe them and when I tell you it's often a challenge to even myself - who are these people to try and say anything about my feelings?

Female sexuality exists and it is valid. No woman or anyone in a female body should have to be ashamed of their own sexuality, period. Also, when two woman have sex, it's just as much sex as when two men or a man and a woman have it. Love is love, and sex is sex.

Period.

Been thinking about "Edelgard isn't made to pander to guys because she doesn't have big boobs/doesn't show a lot of skin" and how sexist it is.

Specifically, it's weirdly benevolent sexist. She doesn't show skin so she's made to appeal to LGBT women, which paints them as inherently pure and innocent which I think is pretty gross.

Then also add the sexism heterosexual women get for liking Dimitri. They get called gross fujos that think with their ovaries.

There's some clear disdain for women's sexuality at play here, they need to be "pure" to be acceptable. And there's fetishization of LGBT women as well and it's both gross.

The Edelgang Discord server defends a sexual predator

I am breaking my own rules and talk about that server because this I saw something that needs to be addressed. A year ago a woman came out accusing Schwarzadrawehr/SigurdVII of sexual predatory behaviour. Seven other women corroborated her story.

It’s important to note this person has nothing to do with the Fire Emblem fandom. She instead knows him through comic fandoms.

The Tweet says schwarzadrawehr and celice but the screenshots show his Discord username is sigurd.

On top of that SigurdVII is the only person that consistently uses the wrong Japanese term for the Black Eagle Strike Force. The correct Japanese term would be Schwarze Adlerwehr, which is close to correct German (the correct term would use Schwarzer as Adler is male).

It would be pronounced like this:

SigurdVII is constantly referring to it as Schwarz Adra Wehr.

He’s the only person that seems to say this, as limiting Google’s search of Schwarz Adra Wehr to Reddit you get 8 hits all by him (there’s a ninth but it doesn’t use the term, but does use the words throughout their comment). This just so happened to be his Twitter username as well.

On top of that Schwarzadrawehr goes by Celice, Seliph’s Japanese name.

Which is what SigurdVII constantly refers to him as instead of Seliph.

Google gives you 5 hits in total.

So I think it’s safe to say SigurdVII and Schwarzadrawehr are the same person. People already knew they were the same person as well, but with his Twitter being gone this is kinda the only way to show it. I just needed to make sure to show that he’s indeed the person being accused. But now on to the main point.

The Edelgang Discord server, however, only sees this as a way to discredit him because he’s an Edelstan. This includes a mod of the server, shandale, who often does vile shit like this, but this takes the cake.

Here is also more evidence that shows they only care about him being discredited.

This is such disgusting behaviour that should not be tolerated but instead we have a mod engaging in it.
