I read these in one go and I really wish I had the other three in the series! A lot of it is confusing at first, but I feel like it starts to make sense as you progress through. I hated the use of slurs, even though I get why they were used, it just felt unnecessary to me, but maybe I was being overly sensitive. The artwork is really cute though and I will be getting the rest of these when I have the money for them!

I feel like the author tried to cram a bit too much into this book, so some of the stories felt a bit stunted. However, I did find it an emotional read and I loved the artwork, especially the use of colour throughout.

It was a bit of a random find and I'm really glad I brought it home with me.

I know I haven't posted in forever, but I am still alive (and hoarding books at an alarming rate). Check out this beauty that I picked up in the shop I work at!

This fifth edition was published in 1918 and has a dedication from 1920... and it smells amazing (if you know, you know).

From what I can tell it isn't worth any money, but it's now one of my most prized books, even if there are pages falling out!

Nobody's interested in the details, but I just wanted to say that this blog isn't dead, mental health just got in the way! Hopefully I will be reading (and interacting/updating) more regularly from now on.

I loved the Guild when the web series first came out, I only just found out about the comics... This edition was payment for a commission and now has pride of place in my collection! It's pretty dated now, and if you weren't a fan of the show originally then it's probably not very enjoyable, however, I loved it and I'm sure I'll enjoy reading it again!

The Survival Handbook was a library book I forgot I had (oops), I think it's a pretty cool book for young adults/teens and I even found some useful info in it for myself.

My art teacher loaned me the Ilustrated Journal and I loved it so much that I popped it onto my wishlist. There are very few art books I have an urge to own, but this is one of them.

And finally, Nevada... I was disappointed by my lack of interested in this book, it's supposed to be a trans-lit cult classic, but I didn't enjoy any of the characters (though a couple of the characters thoughts/feelings did resonate with my own experiences) and the word 'like' was used so often that it was actually making me angry, lol! It's possible this book just went over my head though I suppose.

After two hours, I finally gave up trying to get to sleep and decided to read instead... it's 3am now, the only sounds outside are the wind and rain, which is the perfect accompaniment to reading in bed, if you ask me.

I'm still alive but I've been in a reading slump, partially because I've been focusing on drawing (and other crafty bits), hence the book selection... it's a shame slumps don't slow down the book buying as well as the reading, I have so many on my TBR now that it's actually intimidating!

The Painting Boats book was loaned to me by my art teacher, it's really great if you're just getting into watercolour.

Draw Your Day and Illustration were both ok, but I didn't find them especially inspiring. I'd say they're worth getting from a library and having a flick through though.

Sketch Your World on the other hand, is absolutely wonderful! There are some great tips and information for people getting started or wanting to switch up their style a bit, and it's packed with really amazing artwork. Really glad I bought this one!

I thought Musical Truth was the best of the bunch, but I guess part of that was the nostalgia around the songs that also played a big part of my own childhood.

I'm eternally grateful for the digital offerings of my local library!!

I read Kindred again... I can't get enough of Octavia Butler, she really is one of the greatest writers of all time, in my opinion. I'm working on collecting all of her books!

Don't Touch My Hair has been on my to read list for a while now, as soon as I saw the library had the audiobook I had to get it... even though I really should be working through the masses of books I have at home...

Today I visited The Old Pier Bookshop in Morecambe, it's an absolute treasure trove and I spent so long looking around that I almost got a parking ticket! Also, the Facebook page is absolutely hilarious, well worth a read!
