Every so often I find myself at a local Marcus Theater watching a movie without an expectation in the world. It could be lovely... or it could be dreadful. But either way, it is worth giving it the old college try. And like The Black Phone before, I left pretty pleased with Thanksgiving as well

Thanksgiving comes into seasonal slashers the same way that Violent Night came in last holiday season to bring some festive gore into things.  One is a somehow more festive and violent Die Hard.  This however is a festive seasonal version of Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer.  Thanksgiving is an untapped movie market overall besides Spider-Man, so why not make a slasher and keep spooky movies year-round?

The holiday Thanksgiving is a time for family, football, and good food. The movie of the same name, based in Massachusetts, has... some of those things. Now, what does this movie have? Besides one of the biggest Tik Tok stars, it has all the best of a normal slasher that you would love as a genre fan

I don't know if I knew what I wanted this The Flash movie to be. I really wanted a strong Flashpoint adaptation with a Jeffrey Dean Morgan Batman and maybe a truer wrap-up for the DCEU that could clean up a lot of plot threads after the premature ending for the series and maybe, just maybe, explain the next reboot. That would have been a lot and this...this is not that sadly

Every time I talk about a DCEU movie, even a weaker entry like The Flash, I talk about what could have been with the Snyder Cut vision for the DCEU and the other Batfleck possibilities. If nothing else, this movie gave us more of the Ben Afleck Batman and more of the Jeremy Irons Alfred.

As a superhero movie/show guy, I have seen a few iterations of The Flash that I have enjoyed. You have super hero veteran Michael Rosenbaum from the animated Justice League show and you have Grant Gustin from The CW Arrowverse. But how was this Ezra Miller one?

The late spring blockbuster lineup had some fun movies. They may not all be equal, but all are fun, and at least 1-2 have strong life lessons and emotional stakes to boot. Which was your favorite?

This Fast X movie is just the latest in a franchise that feels like it has gone on for a lifetime. Fast and Furious may not be the strongest franchise overall, but they knocked it out of the park when they brought Jason Statham into the fraternity of actors who have been in at least one of these.

This is another triple header monster of an episode. We got super heroes that stick to walls, we got super heroes in space, and we have guys who drive cars...who have the plot armor stronger than any super power!

Having seen all 3 of these movies, they each have their own plusses and minuses, some more than others. Shazam! Fury of the Gods was underwhelming, The Super Mario Bros. Movie got a lot of love and was fun enough, totally fine, just not stellar enough for me.  But Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves really stole the show!  Please do not sleep on that movie and enjoy all it and Chris Pine has to offer.

I can't stress this point enough. Of recent movies, The Super Mario Bros Movie has gotten a ton of fanfare, that is good and well. But I urge people to not sleep on the Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.  It does not need any prior reading material and you will just genuinely enjoy this fantasy movie on Paramount Plus.

As a movie goer with eclectic tastes, I watch things all over the place. But when you went to your local theater recently Marcus Theaters for me, what was your favorite? Shazam! Fury of the Gods!, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, or Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves?

When you think of slasher movies taking place in NYC, the big apple and all that, your mind most likely goes to the very average and potentially kind of ehh movie, Friday The 13th Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan. Well, luckily 34 years later, Scream 6 is here to slice and dice that big apple up and take proper advantage of what a big city has to offer for the slasher genre.

When I watched the first Scream movie in 2015, I did not know that would be the first domino leading me to watch The Conjuring franchise in just 2 days and casually watch The Exorcist show, even going anywhere near that franchise, any many more horror feats. But for all that has kicked off and with all that i have seen, how does this horror savant look at Scream 6 now?

I live for and love the Scream movies, there is nothing better than the paring of pop culture and slasher genre fare.  This franchise got me into the entire spooky cinema world, Friday the 13th, Halloween, and more!  While I have yet to do a full franchise episode, we have to at least see how the 6th one stands up after taking the 5th one last year!

Between 2008 and 2023, 31 MCU movies have come out to this point. I will continue to watch these movies and the Disney Plus related content, but 3 Letterboxd stars feels right for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, mostly because of Jonathan Majors being an acting legend!

I will always be a MCU fan and defender. They mostly hit, but recently, they have not all been perfect, and some have had some issues. This is unfortunately one of those. But if you like Paul Rudd, and especially Jonathan Majors, you should still watch Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania from their performances alone.
