Fanfic tiktok is wild... I see so many people saying shit like "I could never read anything below 60k!!", or "What story can you even tell in under 5k words?" or "A oneshot below 10k isn't even a story!" or "I always filter completed fics by 100k< only!"
And I'm like...
A) which fandoms are you reading fics for where you have this kind of offerings on the regular?
B) have you heard of short stories? If you truly think every story NEEDS to be longform to connect with people, I sincerely feel sorry for you.
C) Average novel length is between 50k to 100k. I'm sorry, but CONSISTENTLY demanding fic writers to push out fics of that length is insane. Just think about it: YOU DEMAND AUTHORS TO PUT OUT FICS THAT COMPARE TO COMMERCIAL NOVELS IN LENGTH (AND QUALITY) AS A BASELINE.
Yall are wilding.

Hey op. I did the thing.
Trevor is a mortal, non-magic, human and that's (more than) a-Okay! (1963 words)
Idk if it meets exactly what you were looking for, but I hope it's something nice for the idea. I think I went a lot into their characters and how they would canonically react. (In my mind at least because the boys are two middle-schoolers (affectionate)) Anyway, this gave me a great opportunity to practice some combat writing and pacing! Hope you enjoy!
Castlevania fanfic writers I’m begging you, please write a fic where Alucard and Sypha temporarily loose their powers. So they completely rely on Trevor and realise how amazing and badass he is for like a regular human guy. Please, it’s not a want it’s a need.

downsizing seasons from 22 episodes to 13 to 8. describing miniseries as "8 hour movies". loudly declaring that shows with 20+ episodes per season cannot truly be good. complaining that "it couldve been a movie". complaining about filler episodes. complaining about bottle episodes. complaining about episodes that prioritize character over plot. fr i think y'all just dont like television

Only Crosshair could have let her go in that moment. Crosshair, who's learned not only to trust Omega but to respect her autonomy. Who knows what it means to be the cause of your loved one's pain for reasons outside of your control. Who's willing to risk everything to honor her wishes.
Tumblr media
And only Omega could have convinced him to do it. Omega, the one person who never gave up on him. Who taught him that people can change for the better, even himself. The person for whom his hand doesn't shake when the shot really matters.

I was devastated when he failed to hit them with the tracker. It's not often that Star Wars shocks me, but I needed to let the credits roll as it sank in that he really missed.
It would have been so easy for the writers to give them the win here. For this to be the culmination of all their character growth this season. Don't get me wrong, I'm not mad about it. This is fantastic. I have no idea what's going to happen next. The writers are making some brave choices this season, and I am so here for it.

"Draw for yourself" is such bullshit.
Do actors act for themselves ?? No, they act for the applause. The validation. The encouragement. The feeling that they're doing a good job. The thrill of performing to people.
So why do artists get shoved in the box of not deserving validation ??
"Draw for yourself" is a terrible excuse. "Draw for yourself" indicates unwillingness to support an artist. "Draw for yourself" because I, saying this to an artist, am too lazy to boost their creations.
"Be okay creating for nothing". No. Entire capitalistic systems are beginning to collapse because people don't like doing shit for no reason. It's not even like anyone's demanding money ; just a pat on the head & a reblog here & there.
"Draw for yourself".
Why ??
Why not, instead ; "show your true colors, & we will appreciate them".

hello, could I please ask for older sibling comforting younger sibling who just had a fight with their parent?
Hiiii yes I cannnn (I'm going to refer to younger sibling as Younger and older sibling as Older. The parent is Father, but as always change nouns/pronouns and add all the deettss u want)
Younger barely avoids slamming the door shut as he leaves the room. His fury leaves the other two in silence.
Older's quick glare at Father was enough to get him to realize that she doesn't want to hear any of it. He is the adult here. Older sighs and makes an effort to make her chair screech against the stone floor as she stands.
She finds Younger where she always does, on the floor below the window sill of his room. He's squeezing his hands together tight, rocking back and forth, both hardly decent attempts at calming down.
Older leans on the door frame, making sure not to move until Younger gives her at least a glance of acknowledgement. When he does, she steps in once and closes the door to a crack. She slides down the wall by the door, right across from her brother. She watches him silently, waiting for him to find his own words.
"He never listens!" Younger half shouts.
Older nods, taking a slow deep breath. Younger copies her, likely unknowingly, with a slow breath of his own.
"Yeah, and that's really frustrating." Older says closing her eyes and leaning her head back.
"It is!" Younger says, a bit quieter now. "I just want to do the right thing and he can't even begin to imagine it!"
Older hums softly, peeking a bit at Younger. He's leaned his head back now, looking up at the clouds painted on the ceiling. The two painted those clouds with Father what feels like ages ago now.
Older hears Younger's voice crack now, "I try and I try but I'll never be his perfect prodigal son."
Older sighs, finally scooting across the room to sit next to Younger.
"He worries, ya know?" Older says gently, looking up at those deceptively fluffy blobs of paint.
Younger sniffles. "Then why can't he tell me that?"
Older tries her best. "He does, I think, in his own way."
They're silent for a moment. Older thinks that Younger may be tapped out, retreating silently into his thoughts.
"When we were younger he didn't 'worry' like this." Younger says.
Older hums, thinking about being younger with Father and Younger and Aunt Lil.
"I guess, I should try..." Younger can't bring himself to say it.
"Try whatever you feel is right, really, in your heart." Older says plainly.
Younger laughs a little. "That's so corny."
Older huffs a laugh with him. "I mean it though, trust your judgement... I trust you, so you should too."
Younger laughs again. "Yes, oh wise one," he says in a deeper, mocking voice.
Older playfully shoves his shoulder.
"thank you," Younger sighs after a moment. "Mother would be proud."

Reasons I'd get kicked out of Camp Half-Blood
1- telling Chiron to "stay gold, Ponyboy"
2- belting the chorus of "sweet home Alabama" every time I see a couple in the camp
3- making your mom jokes to Athena and Aphrodite kids
4- randomly spraying Percy with a squirt gun to check if he's really water resistant, even when he's not expecting to be in contact with water
5- approaching random campers and reminding them who their half-siblings are (ex: "yo, Nico, did you know you're related to Hitler?)
6- hiding a noise machine in the Hermes cabin and playing the star Wars scene "Luke, I am your father" every time he eneters/ making it play Hamilton at all hours of the night, so they can fall asleep to the sound of their father's voice
7- telling kids to "read between the lines", knowing full well they can't even read the lines themselves
8- convincing the younger, more gullible Demeter kids to grow weed
9- bribing the Hephaestus kids into making me a gun that shoots celestial bronze bullets, because there is no way in Hades that I am about to go after monsters just wielding some pointy sticks
10- sneaking into the Hera cabin to sleep, because what do you MEAN I, a claimed daughter of Hermes, don't get a bed in my own daddy's house? Yeah, no, I'm staying over at grandma's, the goddess of motherhood. Smite me.

The hero knew they'd be found one day.
So they weren’t entirely surprised when they were ambushed in their house, drugged, and dragged off to the enormous castle that they used to call home. But their anticipation didn’t stop the dread from pooling in their gut as they were tossed, unceremoniously, onto the ground.
They stifled a groan, flexing their bound hands behind them as they tried to shake off the last of the sedative in their system. Someone grabbed the scruff of their collar and yanked them up to their knees before pulling down their blindfold.
They blinked several times at the ground, squinting through the sudden change in light. As their vision cleared, the marbled pattern of the throne room's floor came into view and they involuntarily stiffened.
"Dismissed."
Fuck. That voice. The cold, cutting power laced in every syllable, the venom in each word that had haunted the hero's dreams for years, even after they escaped. Or so they thought they did. The hero's mouth went dry.
They kept their gaze trained down, hearing the guards behind them leave and close the doors with a harsh, resolute click.
Silence stretched between the hero and the villain, who sat languidly on the throne in a grotesque show of vanity. Of pride.
After a moment, the villain sighed. "So you thought you could get away."
The hero swallowed, hard. "I guess I was just playing hard to get." They hated how unstable, how hoarse their voice was.
The villain chuckled dryly. "You, my prized possession, the greatest weapon I've ever had the pleasure of crafting, were just playing hard to get." The hero heard them shift in their seat. "I'm sure that's a fantasy you'd love to be true, but I knew you'd run. Did you really think I haven't dealt with this before?"
"Guess I thought I'd get lucky." The hero looked up then, to stare the villain straight into their eyes.
The villain held their gaze and smiled, flashing teeth. "Unfortunately, even the most precious treasures are always found at some point." They tilted their head, brow furrowing. "Come here."
The hero did not move.
The villain tapped a finger, and an invisible force pulled the hero taut, dragging them towards the foot of the throne. They grit their teeth, knowing better than to struggle, but hating the agonizing memories that flashed through their head of when they used to fight back, of what the villain was capable of beyond simple commands.
"I see you've grown into disobedience after so many years," the villain tutted. "That's certainly fixable, but what I want to know," they dragged a hand through the hero's disheveled hair, who shuddered at the familiar touch, "is if you still remember what I've taught you." Their touch suddenly turned sharp as they grabbed a fistful of—
The hero's body reacted to the pain before their mind did, and they kicked their leg around, slamming their foot into the villain's forearm. Apparently they still remembered a thing or two.
They landed on their stomach, panting as they faced the wide expanse of the gilded room before them. The villain crouched down beside them, placing a boot on their back and squeezing the air from their lungs.
"Look at you. You could've had all this," the villain hissed in their ear. They grabbed the hero's chin, forcing them to look up. "You could've been by my side, sitting with me on the throne. But you chose to run and try to become someone who could overthrow me, the very person who created you. You are nothing, nothing, without me."
For the first time since they've been back, fear struck the hero deep in their heart. "Please," they breathed, and immediately realized their mistake.
Begging was a weakness. A crack in the boulder. An infection in a festering wound. And the villain saw it all too well.
"Forgiveness," the villain murmured, honey-sweet, "is for the traitors. Punishment is for the cowards. Which one do you think you are?"
As the villain's hand tightened on their face, the hero closed their eyes, knowing the question had already been answered for them.

I said it before for pjo and I never thought I’d have to say it again, but watching some of the immediate negative reactions and nitpicking, as a wheel of time fan, who suffered the first botched adaptation and then powered through season 1 and suffered again through season 2:
Yall are so spoilt it’s sickening. This is your second chance a lot of fandoms do not get that. It looks better than the movie don’t yall dare deny that I see some of you clowns trying already it’s embarrassing. Please watch the movie again. The trailer wasn’t terrible. It’s a live action adaptation of an animated story it’s not gonna be perfect. It’s gonna look campy and if it didn’t there would be other people complaining. And while we’re at it give me one adaptation that was perfect, literally one. That’s not how this shit works. Most aren’t even close and this looks close. I see one person complaining it’s too saturated and another person saying it’s too dark they can’t please everyone. It’s a few minutes, how much could you possibly have to criticise? I’m not saying you have to like it but give it a chance to prove itself.
Enjoy the good parts, because there will be good parts I promise you, give feedback, hope the writers take it into consideration. Hope season 2 is better. They saw what happened the first time, they know they’d be insane not to respect the fandom.
Also they’re not ruining the original. Nothing ruins the original. It still exists. You can still watch it. If the adaptation is bad we can give it the movie treatment and pretend it doesn’t exist.
And maybe it’s not relevant, but I’m gonna put it in anyway, just for context, it was obvious from the get go that the wheel of time show was going to be very different from the books. You could tell even from the trailer. The atla trailer? It isnt like that. I know what a trailer looks like for an inaccurate show and this isn’t it. Yes azula has a bow and arrow, no that’s not in the animated show. It’s not the end of the world I promise you. In fact, there’s probably an in show explanation have faith.
I’ll be the first person to criticise the show if it lacks heart, but until then, I’m choosing to hope for the best.
