📢 On #IntersexDayofSolidarity, our Director of Advocacy and Government Affairs Sam Ames writes with Kimberly Zieselman, “As attacks continue to be lodged against people based on antiquated and harmful beliefs about sex and gender, it is more pressing than ever to center the issue of intersex children’s bodily autonomy.” Read their piece for The Advocate 📢

For #DVAM2021 we turned up the heat on our call to action from last year, No Survivor Justice without Racial Justice. We MUST center, celebrate, and follow the leadership of communities of color - survivors, leaders, advocates, and frontline workers. Read more on DVawareness.org. 💜 And now as we move into November, we celebrate and honor National Native American Heritage Month. Learn more from our partners at National Indigenous Women's Resource Center & Alaska Native Women's Resource Center.

(Image description: black all caps text on a white background which says “Coming out is a personal choice, not an obligation.”)
If you can’t or don’t want to come out yet, it’s okay. You’re fine. ♡
You’re not “letting down the cause” or being dishonest– you’re keeping yourself safe, and that’s what matters.

It's #HispanicHeritageMonth and today we're remembering Mexican-American human rights lawyer and AIDS activist Dennis deLeon!
Dennis served as New York City's Human Rights Commissioner, and in 1993, he became one of the first NYC officials to publicly disclose his HIV status when he wrote on op-ed called "My Hopes, My Fears, My Disease" published in The New York Times.
In 1994, he was chosen as president of the Latino Commission on AIDS, where he helped the organization parter with 380 other orgs around the U.S., create Spanish-language resource guides on AIDS information, and work with Spanish-speaking churches to build a network of AIDS prevention programs. Thank you for speaking out bravely and giving back to the community, Dennis!
