!!NON SPOILER FREE REVIEW OF THE FIRST BLACK BUTLER EP OF S4!!

First of all, I want to say that both the opening and ending were done beautifully. The visuals of both were so so so stunning and overall the scores are perfect and do fit the vibe of this season.

(So glad SID made a comeback for this season, made me nostalgic)

I was kinda bumbed that they left the whole easter chapter out but at the same time it was something i expected to happen. (rip)

The animation was alright, i think overall the beautiful art makes me forgive the stiff movements of the characters. I am really happy with how the characters look so far, they look a lot better then how they did in previous seasons.

I am so happy that the first ep is quite literally a replica of the manga, as someone who has read the manga a multitude of times, i could recognize every single pannel.

Profesor Michaelis looked absoltuely attractive!! his fangs!!! his eyes!! his voice!! everything!!

Wont lie to you guys, i did actually tear up at the end, especially with the anticipation and build up of Sebastian saying "yes, my lord." which to me screams "we are back bitches!" and it indeed made me emotional lmao.

Overall the pacing seems fine, the episode itself was peaceful. Ost was amazing as always and of course, BLACK BUTLER IS BACK BITCHESSSS!!

The lack of hostility between Chuuya and Dazai is probably one of my favorite things to come out of the new chapter. I have seen some bsd fans touch on this subject but I want to join in as well!! :)

Some people have stated that the reason they are acting quite calm and less aggresive to each other has to be due to the fact that their alone, and while I think thats a plausible reason, I think there's more behind it.

Chuuya and Dazai have only been calm around one another when they are alone + when they are TIRED. And I got to say, it's telling that both of them went through hell and back (drowned, shot, injured, etc.) and they are so exhausted at a point where they can't even pretend that they hate one another lmao.

Like, they are actually in a situation where they are under extreme stress and preasure, not having any time to even put on a play and act like they want each other dead.

past chapters provided us with how over the top and exaggerated their "hate" for each other is (although we all know how in reality, they are fond for each other), but in this new chapter, all masks are off.

For starters, Chuuya shows concern for Dazai multiple times and even tries to reasure his worries, telling him Fyodor is dead and he shouldn't be anxious anymore.

I also want to mention, Dazai's openess around Chuuya and how of course, this isn't the first time Dazai has had these sort of emotional/anxious outburts infront of him.

Dazai is comfortable around Chuuya, comfortable enough to show his much more vulnerable side. And sure, Dazai is understandably tierd and stressed but even then he wouldn't show this state to anyone but Chuuya.

All in all, its clear that Chuuya and Dazai are in a place where they both know hostility and facades are the least needed at the moment. They are alone, which gives them an open chance to be honest with one another without fear of betrayal.

I think the sheer trust they have for each other has always been shown in past chapters/light novels but this is defiently some of those rare times where they are showing nothing but honesty and care for one another.

FUCK ADULT SWIM!!

For a fucking programming called adult swim it surely couldn't handle a show with arguably some of the most mature themes.

What am i angrily going to rant about? The cancelation of Moral Orel.

why the FUCK was it ever okay and allowed for rape jokes to be made in countless of adult swim shows but the moment the aftermath and overall emotional/physical trauma of rape is showed then "Omg!!! That's too dark!! too bleak!! Cancelled!!"

Adult swim were actual idiots for cancelling its show right when it was at it's peak of trauma exploration and it's healing process.

We could've gotten to see Orel's journey with the generational trauma that is weight on his back and seen how he managed to cut it off!! We could've seen Agnes Sculptham confront her rapist and later on gain a healthy nd loving relationship with a woman !! We could've seen Nurse Bendy handle motherhood!! We could've seen so!! much!! more!!

Now don't get me wrong, it ended so well considering the time crunch they were given and i'm happy we atleast got a good ending, but omfg...

Did you know we were going to get multiple episode's where Orel's grandfather AKA Clay's dad was going to live in with the Puppington family??? meaning the exploration of generational trauma was going to dive even deeper??

This show deserved it's full season 5 run, and it was unjustly deprived of that due to insensitive people who felt the show got "too dark" when in reality, the show was shining in soul.

Nobody asked for this but i had the urge to write a small orgin as to why they are hugging in this rlly cute fanart!!!

Ok so, i would like to imagine that this is Finnian and Sebastian when they all reunite after finishing their missions. Finny is tired emotionally due to everything that went down and Sebas is exhausted due to the respective trials he faced on his assignments.

Both Finny and Sebas craved "normality" for different reasons during their time apart. And then, admist the exhaustion, when Finnian sees Sebastian he can't help but feel relief as he hugs him. And for once, Sebas doesn't complain, he doesn't point out that he still needs to control his physical strenght due to the bone-crushing hug.

The moment Finnian hugged him he felt that surge of normality again, even for a split second. He couldn't help but hug back, to hold on to that feeling, no matter how fleeting it was. Finnian on the other hand, was just so glad to see that his mentor was okay, and that if he's okay, then everyone will be too.

this is obviously not gonna happen in canon but let me be happy in peace!!!

Where do you think Verlaine got the information on the flags in the first place? Probably from Dazai. He said that he decided the kill order for the start. The flags were killed first, in order to protect the mafia as first on Verlaine's list was Mori, Dazai and Mori's plan were to kill the flags. Yes, Dazai did carry Chuuya and drop him off to where the flags died, but he probably saw Alabtross gasping for air but didn't do anything to help. I do believe Dazai does care for Chuuya, but I think he had something to do with the flags' deaths.

Here's translation from Strombringer that further proves my point.

Plus, let's give in to the idea that Dazai did get the flags killed...Wouldn't Asagiri actually imply it or textually prove it? All Asagiri proved in canon was that Dazai was only involved with N torturing Chuuya and the innocent detetives death.

Never in the light novel was it stated or textually shown that Dazai was involved with the flags passing, not even contextually speaking.

What you are saying isn't even text proof in the novel and sounds like a theory, "he PROBABLY saw Alabtross gasping for air and didn't do anything to help."

We don't know that though, and in your theory; what could Dazai do to help?

Dazai was on the verge of kiling himself in CODE 4 and early on was giving up on fighting Veraline to actually do something.

The latter was theoritically speaking, of course. There's no proof Dazai even saw that lol.

What was shown to us in canon was that Veraline understood Chuuya's attachment to humanity and he believed it was prominent through his relationships.

Putting two and two together, by simple espionage he got the point and killed the flags on his own discretion, the theory of Dazai's involvement would only be true if Asagriri confirms or proves it.

Fortunately, pages worth of stormbringer easily prove against it.

Okay so personally, I like them. The art is absolutley fantastic, the storylines are entretaining and overall most characters are treated with respect

I think that like any other Sonic medium out there, it has flaws. (and tbh SEGAS rules over this franchise are at fault but we can talk about that another day.)

ONE thing that greatly bothers me about the IDW comics is the treatment of Shadow's character....

Personally, the zombot arc is one of my favorite in the series, yet it's this charatcter plot-point that frustrates me to no end.

I hate how they dumb down Shadow to this overly aggresive, non logical asshole.

Such a loved character in the fandom and he gets reduced to this?? I CANT STAND IT I CANTTTT

I think this is a very popular opinion however, so what i'm saying isn't really ground breaking!!

But tbh, this all goes down to my overall complain of how SEGA treats Shadow in general, so I can't fully blame the comic run.

I think something else that frustrates me about how Shadow was written is how uncaring he is?? like dayum they just wanted to write him as the most unlikable edgelord to roam the earth.

I don't fully hate the IDW comics, theres various storylines that I really like or sometimes just the concept of the story but overall it's pretty cool.

But as someone whose favorite character is Shadow, it isn't my favorite source of sonic content.

1. Black Butler<3

It would've been incredibly distasteful to not put this beauty on top of my list. I have been a fan of this one since 5th grade, the literal backbone of my insanity.

I may complain monthly over the agnoizingly short chapters, but the narrative and storytelling in this manga is one of my favorites ever.

Although you didn't ask, I have the need to mention: Ciel Phantomhive is my child!!

And yes, I am still awaiting Prince Soma's return.

3. Berserk

Let me make one thing clear!!! I am NOT a berserk reddit fanboy who completely ignores and neglects the narrative of this story in order to fill whatever inner void that needs to be filled.

I am suuuper passionate about the Golden Age Arc and the Pre Eclipse era of Berserk, it would be impossible to shut me up about it.

I could go on billion rants about Griffith's character and his actual complexities throughout the narrative. (no, he isn't emotionless, that would destory the whole point of the story lol)

Also I want to give a not-so-subtle shoutout to @bthump for validating every single thought I had while reading Berserk and always providing textual evidence. Thank you for being the light in the darkness of this fandom!

4. Death Note

sighs yes I am still in the fandom of an anime that has only one season and ended so poetically that it makes perfect sense that it doesn't have a continuation yet my brain screams for content when obviously it will never happen.

Before anyone asks, I am not team Light or team L, both of them are selfish people and used others lives in order to beat one another.

I am a constant defender of the fact that the Death Note consumed Light. Not only is it textually stated; but it's visually stated

(Light's eyes get wider and more innocent looking for a reason when he forgets the death note guys!!!)

Anyways, this story is absolutely awesome and I think most people can agree with that.

I don't rewatch this anime often, but when I do I get shooked by the big brain plans and big brain confrontations lmao.

5. Moral Orel

"MORAL OREL SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN CANCELLED!! FOOLISH PEOPLE FEARED IT SPOKE TOO MUCH FACTS" I scream into a void, tears fill my eyes as losing my religion by R.E.M plays in the background.

Seriously though, I love this show; a literal masterpiece. I don't think theres any show that made me incredibly concious of how my own family's dynamic worked as this one did.

Has amazing takes of the human condition and contains life long lessons.

Hello! I wanted to ask you your thoughts on SB. It's implied that Dazai caused the flags deaths. But I heard people talking about how it was a miscalculation due to how he says "we need to get to Chuuya" now all panicky. What do you think?

Hello, sorry for the delay in answering! (calculus homework is a bitch i swear) Anyways! I will be happy to answer your question:D

So in short, No.

Dazai didn't cause the flags deaths, he was responsible for the detective's death in stormbringer however.

I think the problem was that when Strombringer first came out, people spread lots of misinformation and mistranslations to the general public, causing people to think this is canon.

(Twitter and Reddit aren't the most reliable sources!)

@popopretty translated the section of Dazai explaining his inital plan, none of it indicates Dazai being involved in indirectly killing the flags.

Dazai did meet up with Veraline, however it was days after the flags deaths. The only thing Dazai did was buy time, which did infact lead to the Detective dying and Chuuya getting captured by N.

He is such a silly man.

Again, here's Verlaine and Dazai's interaction translated by @popopretty for further confirmation.

Verlaine was set on killing Chuuya's friends from the get-go, believing it was their fault for Chuuya's cling to humanity.

If you need any sort of consolation, Dazai did respect Chuuya's care for the flags enough, he did end up dropping him off to take in the death of his friends and grieve properly after all.

Really, Tiktok?

ok, first of all. I am not dead. I didn't do much analysis lately unlike the previous years due to the fact that I have a life and it is slowly killing me.

Second and most of all, I was out of the BSD fandom for quite a while when suddenly I saw @nataliaphantomhivesblog 's post regarding of a tiktok user plagiarizing her analysis.

Honestly, I don't care much for tiktok or any of those social media except for their farcicality. But when it comes to this? I don’t like this.

There is a reason why content creators always put a warning that their works should not be reposted or, the very least, give credit to the original creator. Otherwise, it would be considered as stealing.

I saw that the tiktok user did try putting my name on the post, which is fine, but also not ok because the reality behind my posts and/or analysis is that they are all connected to Natalia's posts. In other words, I am merely reblogging what she said and I am adding my own understanding. And I am glad that there are comments that mentioned about the reblogs and collaborations we did because those were the foundations of our content--it was a back-and-forth discussion. And I can't think of any BSD post that we did where one of us is not mentioned.

We ALWAYS mentioned each other because 1) credits, and 2) we are a team.

Moreover, the fact that the slideshow is the watered down version of her analysis just adds salt to the wound. Yes, our analysis are lengthy for a reason--we want to hit the right points with evidence and explain the evidence rather than give an outline of it. That‘s exactly another reason why this is upsetting--the idea that all of that work, only being cut down with missing points. And the thing is, it is not an easy peasy thing to write about them. I know! I became an insomniac doing those analysis.

I really felt so sorry for Natalia. She is the one who put a lot of effort into these and the reason why I started this collaboration with her is because she did a fantastic job and very on-point. If anything, I owe her a lot. And she definitely deserves more credit than I do since SHE IS THE ORIGINAL.

I am not going to cause any further row with the user. We have enough drama in our lives and I dont want another one in my long list. Whoever they are, they owe Natalia an apology (and it is up to Natalia on how she responds to it).

And if you find any of our discussions interesting and want to share it--thank you! But please! Give us proper credit. And by "proper", I mean look up who is the original creator, and TAKE NOTE of THEIR NAME.

Alright so, I remember seeing people say that Asagirgi made a comment about not wanting to make any couple canon bc it would be disrespectful but I highly doubt this is a real claim.

Let's start with the fact that if that was the case, then this series wouldn't be made to begin with.

Dazai's introduction is actually distasteful considering the real Dazai Osamu's death.

The real Dazai Osamu died by double suicide with his wife, by drowning himself.

And in the bsd story,the authors counterparts first apperance is...by drowning.

2. Mori as a character, is literally a port mafia leader, a mass murderer AND a pedophile. When this has 0 connotations to the real Mori's life.

I don't even have to explain how this is defiently disrespectful for the real authors memory, now that his name is constantly butchered and dragged as a pedophile in the manga, right?

3. Dazai in real life absolutely loved and respected Akutagawa's works, but his bsd counterpart literally lacks to acknoweldge and abuses Akutagawa.

The real Akutagawa's death actually depressed Dazai in real life, but in bsd, he is portrayed as someone who absolutely disregards half of the things Aku represents.

4. Half of the bsd cast is portrayed as murders, abusers, war criminals or counter opposites to the authors they are based of.

So with all that being said and done, he basically turned many renowned and respected authors to mafia members, killers, or even whole ass war criminals.

5. Rimbaud and Veraline actually had a love affair going on, yet they only kept them as companions in the manga.

Rimbaund and Veraline had a very known love affair, but Asagiri chose to wrote them the same way historians would call lgbtq+ couples as "veryyyyy close besties:D"

6. There's been canonical couples or canonical crushes implied in the manga, but in real life, the authors probably didn't feel the same so it's quite insane for Asagiri to not want to make Soukoku or any other bsd dynamic canon out of fear of disrespect. Unless, he doesn't want to do to the narrative or for homophobic reasons.

Look, I'm not gonna claim that Asagiri is homophobic, I don't know the guy in real life to even come to that conclusion!!!

But, it's quite intresting to realize how Higuchi, Lucy, Katai, Tanizaki and many other characters have canonical crushes on opposite sex counter parts but then, it's suddendly disrespectful for two characters the same sex liking each other/being together?

More than anything the whole discourse of Asagiri claiming that is probably false since I don't see any real document of him saying it, so it's likely this whole thing was started by someone who couldn't stand the idea of shipping mlm or wlw relationships lol.

Predictions for Soukoku’s fate (BSD CH 109 spoilers!!)

How I be looking after dedicating two posts on the possibility of Chuuya not being a vampire due to the fact he was faceless for absolutley no reason during some chapters, thinking it was important: 

alright people, i wish i could express my embarassment further but instead of kicking my feet, screaming and crying over my miscalculations, i will proceed to (hopefully) redeem myself with my following predictions.  

Guys, first of all I need to tell you something that I think is absolutely obvious: Dazai is not going to die. 

thematically, it makes absolutley no sense for Dazai to die considering how many characters still depend on him, EVEN HIMSELF.

We still haven’t learned his backstory, we still haven’t had a cathartic moment between Akutagwa and Dazai, Atsushi is yet to learn more from his mentor, and he’s overall a very key character to foil others and develop them while he’s at it.

Even Dazai himself dying right now feels extremely weightless, we haven’t even learned anything about Dazai’s past and he’s already killed? without growing as a person? without fullfilling Oda’s promise?  I don’t know, personally to me, direction wise, development wise and plot wise killing him off is absolutley nonsensical.

Asagiri does tend to take a very unique and unpredictable route with his writing and characters, but for plots sake, I highly doubt Dazai is gone forever.

Also, Fydoor and Dazai continue throwing uno reverse cards at each other, always catching one another unexpectedly. I am still going strong on the idea that Double Black will catch Fyodor off-guard.

Fyodor during these whole prision sections has been constantly belittling and teasing Dazai over how shallow his bond with Chuuya is.

When that’s beyond the truth. Dazai and Chuuya’s trust is literally undying. Stormbringer, the double black chapter and dead apple show us this in the most obvious way possible.

Asagiri himself has quoted that Soukoku knows each others motives, which has also been proven plenty of times when they are working together. 

Dazai himself admited there really was moments where their hearts reached out to one another.

and I think that’s enough to understand, Fyodor is wrong. THEY ARE DOUBLE BLACK FOR A REASON!!!

So far in this chapter, I got various things confirmed. Let’s walk through them together. 

1. Dazai’s nullifcation ability works on vampires, confirmed by Fyodor himself.

So what does this tell us? That Dazai had been planning all along to get in contact with Chuuya. He knew his partner’s abilities will break him out of the water trap, he’s not dumb.

So Dazaj totally meant to get in physical contact with Chuuya in order to nullify his vamparism. And no, it’s not only because Dazai cares for Chuuya (which is a true statement, but not the main reason.) It’s because out of everyone in this room, Chuuya is the only one able to physically overpower Fyodor. 

And even if Chuuya somehow can’t overpower Fyodor, atleast Chuuya can be Dazai’s bodyguard considering well…Dazai’s countless of injuries. Chuuya is Dazai’s ticket to get out of the prision.

Dazai needs Chuuya in his corner. He needs double black in action. He needs Chuuya. 

2. Dazai is genuienly frustrated that his plan to bring back Chuuya didn’t work.

I can’t be the only one who ADORED seeing Dazai panicking. (I sound so masochistic but seriously, it’s rare to see Dazai unmask this way).

Anyways, Dazai’s panic and frustrating during these pannels are unfortunately proof that things did not go at all how he planned.

3. Aya is attempting to take out the sword that stops Bram from having full atonomy on his vampire abilty. 

If by any luck, Aya is able to detach the swoard from Bram, Chuuya and literally every other vamp will return to normal. (which honestly, let’s do hope Aya removes the sword bc this is getting too agonizingly dragged out.)

4. Chuuya and Dazai are destined to….

 kiss?? marry?? make out under the moonlight??

Nono my friends, Chuuya and Dazai are destined to die together.

Chuuya and Dazai dying together has been hinted since Fifthteen, but my theory of these two dying together strenghtened during Stormbringer when Mori teased Dazai about a double suicide with Chuuya.

I’m not saying they will die right now but in order to solidify the need for Shin Soukoku in Yokahama…..

This old married couple gotta go and make room for the highschool sweethearts/hj

5. Dazai took the L

Honestly, I won’t lie to you and say that Dazai’s way out of this situation is going to be hard. But Dazai has attempted to kill himself plenty of times, I wouldn’t be surprised if he has shot a bullet through his head in his early 20s. (Im not joking when I say this i swear).

Anyways, Dazai seems somewhat imune to death and honestly, his character is too important to die, especially in such a meh, anticlimatic way. 

Dazai said it himself best, him and Chuuya are destined to die together.

6. Vampire Chuuya’s expression

I mean,,,, what is the need for the random three little pensive speach bubble ?? we have been proven by Akutagawa that vampires are capable of some sort of sentinence, especially when it’s tied to their deepest desieres/mental strenghts.

I don’t have anywhere grand to go with this but, I just wanted to point it out lol.

ALL IN ALL

I can’t say for sure what is going to happen, but with Aya’s attempts of removing the swoard the possibility for Chuuya to become concious and do something to get out of there and save Dazai still remain pausible in my books.

I am not too confident on where this section of the story will go exactly but I am certain that Soukoku won’t die yet. MARK MY WORDS!!!
