Kakashi says this but he’s wrong. Kishi not only described Sakura’s love as selfish/self centered:
Tumblr media
But Sakura also tried to kill him and lost faith in him, and never bothered to find out why Sasuke was acting the way he was. Kakashi conveniently omits the fact Sakura tried to kill Sasuke first when guilt-tripping him over trying to kill Sakura.
Tumblr media
And Sakura also tried to make Sasuke take her with him when he left, out of romantic interest:
Tumblr media
So everything Kakashi says about Sakura is wrong. But what he says about Sakura actually correctly applies to Naruto.
Tumblr media
Notice how Naruto reacts here. He looks bothered. Afterall it hit too close home. “She only wants to save you! She feels for and spills tears over you! She suffers from loving you!”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Naruto suffers and hurts because he loves Sasuke so much. Even Sasuke has to question Naruto multiple times on why he keeps doing this. Kishi ain’t stupid guys. He knows what he’s doing. And of course Sasuke acknowledges Naruto alone is the one who never gave up on him and never tried to cut ties with him, even when Sakura and Kakashi did.

literally cannot stop thinking about how after their second battle at the valley of the end after sasuke had tried so hard to cut naruto out of his life because he was the last silver of light in his seemingly endless tunnel of darkness the last persevering and undying reminder of his humanity and the love he could give and receive sasuke looks in horror at naruto’s blown up hand, the price he had to pay to finally bring him back and cannot make sense of it he cannot make sense of why naruto is so fixated on him so obsessed with taking on his hatred and help him towards a life at least a little more devoid of it he cannot make sense of why how everyone had given up on him everyone had stepped away but naruto would never even think of it when everyone turned their backs on him naruto just took more steps forward. and so he asks desperate for an answer desperate to know and naruto’s “you’re my friend” response just doesn’t cut it for him anymore because when had friends started behaving like this? when had friends ever felt like this? so he questions naruto again but this time he directly questions the nature of his feelings and here’s the catch because naruto cannot make sense of it either. naruto has built and cultivated so many friendships to this point the meaning of the word should come as easy as breathing to him but nobody is like sasuke to him. sasuke is not his friend, sasuke is stashed away in his very own spot deep in naruto’s heart and mind and when the word friend is so trivial and applicable to so many it is not enough to describe what naruto feels for him anymore. sasuke is his everything the very person that gave his life for him all those years ago in a whim that naruto could never forget no matter how much time passes and how many moons go by with them not seeing each other. naruto cannot put a word on the ache he feels in his chest when sasuke is not with him he cannot put a word to the lightness he feels in his heart when sasuke comes back so he settles for a literal explanation. he says it as it is: when you hurt, i hurt, so much i cannot leave it alone

I love that Suletta doesn't even have her weight on the hand she has against the wall. She's basically holding the door with one hand while her tiny wife is struggling to pry the door open with her whole body.

I just find it interesting how Orochimaru says that Naruto is weighing on Sasuke's mind and the words are literally over a panel of Naruto holding hands with Hinata.
Obviously Sasuke senses Naruto's chakra and is impatient to get to the battlefield for numerous reasons but it's certainly an interesting paneling choice.

idk whats funnier: that tumblr got people to spend multiples of $7.99 to add fake verification checkmarks to their blog to ""make fun of"" twitter's latest fuckup, or that these checkmarks literally do not show up for mobile users and thats why i had no idea this amazing feat of opportunistic capitalism was even happening until just now

Personally, I feel like the most interesting twist this episode did was reveal that Shaddiq is NOT nearly as clever, devious or manipulative as we, or HE, thought.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ever since the start of the show, Shaddiq has been this rather ominous figure hovering about the background. Never directly getting involved, but always giving off the vibe of ‘I’m WAY more in control than I may act’. And a lot of people, including myself, started suspecting and theorizing that underneath the friendly, amicable demeanor was a devious manipulator and definitely the most dangerous opponent for Suletta and Miorine.
Tumblr media
And the previous episode to this one seemed to finally confirm all those suspicions, when Shaddiq seems to have concocted a plan to completely undermine and seize control of both Miorine’s and Suletta’s new company and Aerial with barely lifting a finger.
Tumblr media
But when we get into this latest episode where Shaddiq has properly come out as an enemy of Suletta and Miorine, we see all of his schemes fall apart pretty much immediately.
Tumblr media
Mostly due to the fact that it turns out Miorine is both just plain smarter than Shaddiq and can also read him like a book.
Tumblr media
First during their meeting at the start of the episode, Miorine completely sees through Shaddiq’s plan and clearly knows exactly what he is doing by attempting to coerce her into signing over control of the company to him. Even when he plays dumb as to rewriting the rules, she still isn’t fooled for a moment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And any and all of Shaddiq’s attempts at manipulation in this scene ultimately fail when Miorine simply leverages the fact that her future wife and future sister(s)-in-law are 2-for-3 on absolutely roflstomping the great houses in MS battles and challenges Saddiq to a duel. Making it clear that she knows this system just as well as Shaddiq, and it’s clear that Shaddiq has no way of actually stopping her.
Tumblr media
And this trend only continues and even exacerbates later in the episode when Shaddiq approaches Miorine in her greenhouse.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Where once again, Miorine sees through ALL of Shaddiq’s word and mind games and absolutely refuses to play by his rules.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She even sees through his attempts at manipulation better than Shaddiq himself does, as it’s clear he seems to have THOUGHT he was genuinely trying to help in some way. But Miorine sees it all for what it really is and just tells Shaddiq to fuck off.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Heck, he can’t even get Suletta to bite at his attempts to get her to talk Miorine down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally, Shaddiq ultimately looses the duel from a combination of once again underestimating a Gundam and her pilot, and Miorine once again reading him like a book.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She KNEW he wouldn’t trust anyone but himself to land the finishing blow on Aerial, and so Miorine coordinated her forces accordingly to lure him into a trap.
Tumblr media
This whole episode really paints Shaddiq as actually NOT knowing other or himself as well as he seems to think, and not nearly the threat we thought he was. His attempts at manipulation constantly fall flat and his schemes are outplayed at every turn.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The episode showed he seems to have a sincere affection for Miorine and a genuine desire to help her, yet seems unable to recognize those feelings or recognize how Miorine herself might feel.
Tumblr media
For a character many of us were expecting to be a lot more dangerous, I think this is a really interesting subversion.
