What if that friend was hospitalized, in a coma, saving Yuu from a fatal accident that could’ve killed Yuu?

What if Yuu had a difficult life before meeting them? Where the friend saved them and have them hope of a better life?

What if this is the reason they strive back to their world? To see their dear friend again? To hope they are awake and well?

How would their friends in Twisted Wonderland react to this? To know of another who saved Yuu so many times?

To know that friend was more like family than friends at all?

"[MC] - we're boarding the ship for Mariam Island!!!"

Shaking their head as they clutched their bag tightly did they follow their fellow college student. It was a trip for students that did exceptionally on their test, and [MC] somehow managed to do well on it to go on the trip. They didn't really pay attention to what the trip was about as their mind was more on trying to finish many of the tasks they held in all the games they had. They were more on the games than college at the moment due to being addicted.

Which made it all the more surprising they even scored well enough to go on this test.

Maybe there really was an ultimate being listening to them.

"[MC]!!!!!"

Getting out of their thoughts they board the ship towards an island that only had visitors about three to five times a year.

Miriam Island was an island they heard little about. Rumors and news always covered the island as no pictures were ever managed to be taken of anything. Phones would go dead miles before you see the island with satellites not picking up where the island is either. The only way to actually get a picture of the island was through a picture or someone describing it. And it didn't help that if you weren't naturally from the island, then you couldn't find it. So those that sailed to find the island failed or disappeared mysteriously. Mariam islanders sail all the boats in and out of the island, so the government also has no calls whatsoever on the island as well.

Those who come from the island also seem to forget some of the details of what goes on the island but everyone knew it was an island deep in mysteries that everyone in higher power wants.

Well, except [MC].

They couldn't care less for all of this nonsense. They wanted to go back home to their apartment while trying to get Shenhe from Genshin Impact. They worship her, they love Shenhe, well, platonically. [MC] knew if they met Shenhe in real life, they would die for her and shower her in (platonic) love.

"Thinking of Shenhe again?"

Shaking their head as their eyes looked at their friend, Dylan. Dylan was about 5'9'' in height with slim features. Their skin is more peachy than their pale skin with freckles sparking up from time to time. Dylan had dyed highlights of green into dark brown hair complimented with onyx eyes. Dylan identified as male but they had stated they don't mind being addressed by they/them from time to time. His outfit consisted of a dark green shirt that had a little pocket on the left breast with the words 'FU-' stitched into the pocket. He wore jean shorts that reached the knees with military-style boots. Dylan always stated boots were 'awesome' and never wore flip-flops for as far back [MC] knew them. They remember meeting each other back in middle school and then reuniting in college.

"And if I was? I love Shenhe platonically!!!"

"Dude, you practically brought a plushy of Shenhe along this trip!!! We are only going to be gone for three days [MC]!!!!"

"Dylan, that is too long! I miss hugging my goddess!!! Plus, I brought along Mr. Indigo!"

"The flip squid?"

"Octopus but who's actually saying the species at this point..."

They pouted as Dylan laughed at them while they sat on one of the many benches that were on deck as they hugged Mr. Indigo, a flip octopus with colors of grey and indigo respectively. They didn't bother listening to Dylan ranting about something as they stared out over the ocean while hugging the plushy.

They missed home already.

"Welcome travelers from the Mainland!"

[MC] mentally rolled their eyes at the peppiness the local was giving them. By the great cheese itself, it was too early for this peppiness.

"Please, come see the center of our lives!"

As they all walked with the local did [MC] find their eyes wandering over anything and everything. The sea was clear with no signs of pollution or anything unnatural as if the outside world can never touch the very sands of this island. Plants and flowers bloomed merrily and happily to the sunlight beaming down on them. Thankfully, they had a sunhat with a little sunflower blooming on it. Their bag rested snugly on their back as they followed the group dutifully. It was quite beautiful to see nature in full bloom along with the very buildings looking natural with their surroundings. But [MC] did notice a curious little detail among all the buildings and plants.

"Why are there icky creatures among all this rubbish?"

[MC] couldn't help but send Diana, a popular girl, a glare for daring to voice that. What she called 'icky creatures' were actually multiple paintings and statues of octopi.

They held nothing against the paintings and statues as they were naturally curious about octopi in general. Their favorite of species is the blue-ringed octopus due to their poisonous but beautiful rings. They held a healthy amount of adoration for octopi due to finding videos of them playing or having fun. So hearing Diana saying this negative view of them was cranking up their 'punch of bitch' meter.

The local also seems to frown at her words, looking abit insulted.

"Those 'icky creatures' as you call them are our local begins we adore deeply. They symbolize creativity along with the brain proving better than brawn through wit and intelligence. They are always adapting to their surroundings, finding ways to solve their problems than fighting through tough situations."

Diana rolled their eyes as [MC] got a mischievous idea.

"That and they are proven to be smart. Octopi are proven to be smart or even better than humans in the emotions department. So, I imagine they are a better company than you're fake being."

Diana glared at [MC] as they growled out the sentence with clenched teeth. Everyone was just watching the show it seems.

"What was that?"

[MC] gained a fake confused look while looking at her.

"I guess you're less intelligent than I thought. See, this is why octopi are better companions than humans. They have better conversations than you any day Diana."

"Why you little-"

A teacher grabbed Diana as she cursed out [MC]. [MC] didn't give a fuck as they went back to admiring the little statues while still hugging Mr.Indigo. They found the little statues adorable while trying to guess the species.

It was quite funny to mess with Diana as a bonus.
