That moment when you realize that Purpled embodies everything Quackity was (falsely) trying to present himself as

A naturally skilled fighter. (Quackity is not a warrior, and he has the scar to prove it.)

A cold, detached, and careful planner (Quackity, while smart, often makes extremely reckless and emotional decisions.)

A man who cares only about his own power, wealth, and legacy (Quackity still genuinely cares and worries for other people.)

A man with literally nothing left to lose (Slime...)

Quackity recruited people because he somehow saw himself in them. However, Purpled is an interesting example, because many of his actual traits reflect the persona that Quackity tries to project, rather than Quackity himself. Even Purpled's feelings of loneliness were not really brought to the forefront until Quackity triggered them.

And unfortunately for him, the biggest thing he and Purpled have in common is that they were mistreated by authority figures (Schlatt's destruction of the White House parallels the UFO explosion?) whom they later sought to usurp. They're both motivated on some level by vengeance.

Purpled had the patience to watch, wait, and learn from his boss's mistakes. He played nice for months, swallowed his anger at the destruction of his home, gathered information about the prison visits, and struck at the perfect moment when his enemy was emotionally vulnerable. He is Quackity's protégé, just as much as Charlie was.

That's why Purpled was able to succeed in his betrayal plan, whereas Quackity has failed to achieve "justice" against his enemies time and time again. That's why he was able to see right through Quackity's deception. He knows what game Quackity is floundering through, because he's played it his entire life.

Whatever else you might say about him, Purpled has always been upfront and honest with who he is. He's a mercenary. A kill-for-hire. The ultimate opportunist.

And he's damn good at it.

How much can we really fault him for doing his job better than his boss could?

As much as I am heartbroken of what he did to slime. That moment, was EXACTLY what I missed from the dream smp. Like I could not be the only one with control room vibes right?

And it makes perfect sense for purpled actually, the man is ruthless from the start and if you get on his bad side he will hold that vengeance until he dies. The kid was lonely and crumbling since the start and quackity really thought about it /s

Dream SMP Recap (November 28/2021) - JAILBREAK: SEASON FINALE

A day after Techno spots Ranboo being imprisoned by Sam, he gathers the Syndicate together to stage the prison break into Pandora’s Vault.

The escape doesn’t go exactly as planned, but Dream makes it out, now a free man.

Techno parts ways with Dream and goes searching for answers as the server deals with the repercussions, a manhunt ensuing. 

Dream confronts some familiar faces as everyone meets a new Ranboo.

Boomer’s hat tells him something strange about the prisoner, Tommy prepares for what the future holds, Jack seeks out Niki for a conversation…

 …and Foolish has an idea for a possible new member of Las Nevadas.

I want to give quackity the benefit of the doubt when it comes to the whole "best friends" when talking about his fiances thing.

On one hand, to me, it might be that c!quackity didn't know where he stood with c!karl and c!sapnap and opting to call them his best friends made more sense to him as a character. Which, i personally think is the best reason he avoided talking about their romantic past. (though it's a weak reason tbh) (spoiler alert, i don't think there are any 'good reasons')

Another reason I saw and somewhat agree with is, when this framed as a story c!quackity is telling slime, he didn't want to go through the trouble of explaining romantic relationships to him. Which, fine I guess, but even though you SHOULD be best friends with your romantic partner(s), I still think leaving out that very important detail is at best...a little weird. And thinking about it more, it could have been a super funny bit having c!quackity try to explain marriage to slime.

A third reason i saw in posts was that it showed that both platonic and romantic relationship hold equal weight to c!quackity. Which sure, again, you absolutely shouldn't see a romantic relationship more important than a platonic one on just the basis that it's romantic. But this is karlnapity we're talking about, you know the characters that obnoxiously made out with each other, among other less than, um, sfw bits. Again, it just feels weird to to not even mention that they were planning on getting married.

In conclusion, i wish quackity had just at least said one line about the engagement. Even after that if c!quackity had called c!karl and c!sapnap his best friends, i wouldn't have any real complaints. I think it comes from a place of hurt and the commonplace of queerbating in normal media. I'd love to know from cc!quackity why he didn't mention the marriage because i feel like i could be satisfied with an answer coming directly from him. Otherwise, i still am left feeling weird about it and admittedly a little hurt. It feels stupid but again, i can't help but feel a little baited right now.

I love reading other people's feelings about the subject, so i'll keep doing that and maybe even edit this post.

But I want to remind all you karlnapity believers that karl said they haven't ruled out the marriage being endgame, so let's all keep that shred of hope in our minds :,)

Okay so

Karl does remember Quackity, except nothing recent and nothing good—he remembers their plan to sacrifice Karl to frame Eret for murder (which Karl agreed to wholeheartedly) and yet, Karl still retains enough (positive) memories of Sapnap to trust him and talk with him, right?

We know he has memory loss as a result of time travel and what not but is it possibly amplifying his negative memories as well? We know the Inbetween couldn’t be trusted for reasons not entirely known as of now, could that be one of them? We know that whenever he leaves a timeline it’s almost always ended with his brutal murder and sudden return back to his current timeline and he documents these stories to try and understand them further; could this be contributing to why he suddenly only remembers the negative aspects of his relationship with Quackity? We haven’t gotten to see him interact with too many other long-standing characters of the smp, mostly newer folks like Tina and Michael and Foolish (who’re relatively new enough to) not have any intensely negative interactions that may affect Karl’s memory or relationship with them right?

How to Write Dialogue for (most) Dream SMP Characters

A few months ago, I remembered seeing a lot of posts giving advice on how to write dialogue for DSMP Characters. And while those posts contained numerous helpful pointers, overall, they fall just short of capturing what it means to write in a character’s Voice.

Unique character Voices, while tricky to get right, are usually achieved by giving each character a distinct set of words to say, in a manner that distinguishes them from the rest of the cast. 

With this in mind, I’ve spent the past few days combing through almost Thirty Hours of VOD footage to collect nearly all of the unique words, phrases, and speaking habits of every major and minor character on the Dream SMP (involved in 2+ story arcs.)

Before Reading:

Sentence-Starters are single words or phrases which begin a sentence. (ie. “Y’know, maybe you should try something different.”) 

Sentence Paddings are reoccurring words added to the middle of sentences. (ie. “It’s like he just can’t cry.”) 

Sentence Endings are single words or phrases which end a sentence. (ie. “There’s no need to fight, I hope.”)

All three of these types can be combined with one another to create more natural-sounding sentences. For instance, if a character has the two Sentence-Starters “Okay” and “So,” they can be used like this; “Okay, so, I’m a bit worried.”

(Note: When certain traits or phrases aren’t obvious with how they should be applied to dialogue, an (ie.) will be added below to illustrate them.)

Wilbur

General Traits:

Repeats himself for emphasis. Sometimes these repetitions will add additional information. More often, this repetition is focused around a specific word with the circumstance of the sentence being changed each time.

ie. “I’m living in an eternal limbo again. I’ve been through limbo, I’m out of limbo, and socially, I’m still in this limbo.”

Highly eloquent in language, bordering on poetic.

Highly introspective; significantly less so after Eret’s betrayal and onward.

Occasionally makes literary analogies and references, sometimes breaking the Fourth Wall to do so.

Curses semi-frequently. Wilbur is the only known character to use the word “cunt,” although rare.

Common Go-To Swears - Fuck, Shit, Prick, Bastard, Hell, Ass (Including all variations and combinations.)

Tends to hum when he thinks to himself.

Stutters most often when offended, shocked, or surprised.

Generally addresses characters semi-formally, often by title or role.

Often slips into long-form monologues when self-reflecting.

Usually defaults to being the head of a conversation; introducing, managing, and elaborating on topics throughout, especially when speaking to three or more people.

Circumstantial Phrases:

You and I, we’re ━ (To connect positively with someone.)

ie. “You and I, we’re used to seeing the good in people.”

I wanna pick your brain / Can I pick your brain? (To ask about someone else.)

Don’t say that, I’ll cry (Affectionate banter, only to Tommy.)

I’m afraid ━ (When hopeless or delivering bad news.)

ie. “I’m afraid there’s no getting out of this now.”

There’s no reason to ━ / There’s no reason for ━ / There’s no need for ━  (When being threatened or breaking up a fight.)

ie. “There’s no need for violence, gentlemen.”

Obey Me: Gem Matching

A quick look at the gems featured in the You're A Gem event, and what irl gems they might be referencing.

This is just for fun - I actually like the idea that they are gems unique to the Devildom, but it's also interesting that they correlate pretty well with some actual ancient gemstones, and the twelve gems mentioned in the Books of Exodus and Revelation.

(The below is from a historical PoV, pls no bible verses in my inbox ^^ Also, most of these gems have a variety of shades to pick from. All HCs valid etc!)

From those I'm most sure about through to the one I have no idea of...

Lucifer: Eternity

Described as a crimson gem, this is garnet. Ancient Greece tells of when Persephone was in the Underworld, and Hades used pomegranate seeds to bind the goddess of spring to him eternally. The seeds of the pomegranate were a symbol of the indissolubility of marriage, and it is from these seeds that the garnet gets its name.

Garnets are widely known still as representing eternal love, and Hades is, of course, an equivalent to Lucifer, so this is an easy one.

Mammon: Kindness

My favourite demon describes a golden yellow gem that gives off warmth - this is amber. While we know today that amber is not a gemstone, historically it was considered one, and one of great favour at that.

Amber is known across many cultures as the tears that fall when one cares for another, a symbol of courage, and a powerful talisman of protection and guardianship. Fun fact, electricity and amber both come from the same root word, electrum, and our guardian demon wears lightning bolts and enjoys sticking his fingers in plug sockets...

In Ancient China, amber was said to be the soul of a tiger after death.

Amber then represents a protective kindness and additionally - it is warm to the touch.

Levi: Strength

Described as a bright orange sword, this is carnelian. Many a gem can be found in sword like shape in raw form, and there are many different orange gems.

Carnelian though is an ancient one, believed to have restrained anger, imparted dignity, and giving courage in battle. It was said to counteract the effects of sorcery, drive away evil spirits and dreams, and even protect one from clumsy injury. A good gem for a Henry.

The gem was associated with the gods Ra and Horus, and was thus imbued with the properties of bloodlust and rage, the strength of the very gods themselves!

Solomon: Trust

Described as royal blue, this is lapis lazuli. The ancient gem of bluest blue with flecks of golden stars was used with great frequency in Ancient Egypt and beyond - most notably the stone of choice in which to carve and adorn figures of the goddesses, especially the figure of Ma who was worn by judges.

Ma was the goddess of justice, balance, order, and truth. Trust in Ma, for she will guide you well.

Lapis lazuli was also considered to be an emblem of chastity (the opposing virtue to Asmo's Lust), to counteract the wiles of the devil and ensure help from angels, and was worn by kings.

Now I wonder who that could describe.... 👀

Beel: Honesty

Described as transparent and, well, edible, there's a great argument here for this to be rock candy! But if we consider that what is edible to Beel (gemstones, paintings, tables) may not be edible to humans, this is opal.

The tears of Zeus, the stone of kings, protector of eyes, prophecy aide, captured lightning, and patron of thieves, opals have a wide and varied history until more recent centuries deemed them unlucky.

Today though they are regaining the western meanings of hope, purity, and above all... truth.

Simeon: Admiration

Described as emerald green, it is tempting to point to emerald itself, but this is peridot.

Emerald is indeed a good enough fit, considered the best of all amulets, and an emblem of love and eternal life... but peridot, which can reach the same depth of green hues, has often been confused for both emerald and topaz throughout history.

In ancient times, peridot was known as the "gem of the sun", and later, the "Evening Emerald" due to the fact it continues to shine and glow even at night time (it has a double refraction, aka it SHINY which Simeon seems to imply). Thought to inspire inner radiance, it was a talisman to commune with the gods, purify that which was wicked, and show abundance and gratitude.

Most famously perhaps, it was gifted from Napoleon to Josephine as a symbol of undying love and admiration.

Luke: Soothing

Described as pale blue, this is aquamarine. Named for the sea it was thought to come from, this gem was famously carried by ancient and not so ancient sailors as it was believed to help calm the sea and soothe troubled waters.

It was said to defend against foes, protect against thieves, and leave one amiable but unconquerable. Aquamarine is a stone that has held much the same meaning throughout the centuries, and is oft the gem that "beryl" refers to in ancient texts (it being one of many stones in that family, but apparently the default one once!).

Diavolo: Order

Described as being the colours of his eyes, a pale golden, this is... possibly hyacinth/jacinth. An ancient gem, it has a few different meanings. The Ancient Greeks held that it was named for Hyacinth, the beautiful heir to the Spartan ruler, tragically and accidentally slain by Apollo, who loved him. The gems are the dead mans blood, and in their place grew flowers, which also became known as hyacinths.

In Western legends, it was held that the gem led to humility and wisdom, but only the most worthy and rich people with a strong will could have it.

The stone is said to be a sad one, but that it brings inspiration, the ability to inspire peace, and above all - that when wearing the gem, you can always distinguish lies from truth.

For reasons sad and otherwise, this seems very much to be Diavolo's gem 😭

Belphie: Obsession

Described as looking like the stars in the night sky, a small planetarium on its own, this is... possibly sheen obsidian. This naturally occurring glass was a gem in ancient times, much like amber, and is still marvelled at today as looking like a captured galaxy.

Across many ancient cultures, obsidian was used to represent the Underworld, the divine, to protect the wearer against evil spirits and negative energy, and even as a connecting mirror between the spirit realm and our own.

It is still used today to cut ties with negative feelings and passions, including obsessive thoughts 👀

Satan: Freedom

Described as cat-shaped, this is... possibly onyx. Many an ancient cat carving is in white or black onyx, and the latter was thought in Ancient China to have protective and grounding properties that would convey strong support, stamina, and the determination to help one persevere.

Black onyx is said to teach the wearer to rely on their own powers, and that its blackness is testament to how much negative energy it has drawn out of peoples lives.

The name itself means "nail" or "claw", and in ancient times black onyx was believed to have a demon imprisoned within it. It was a stone with as many troublesome features as beneficial, but over time it came to be regarded as a positive talisman for dark nights and lonely places.

All in all, a good stone for an independent and free cat.

Asmo: Passion

Described as having both pink and red, this is... possibly agate. Coming in many colours and bandings, agate was known in ancient times as having a whole range of beneficial vibes. It was said to relieve thirst, reduce fever, to turn an enemy's sword against themself, symbolise health and long life, prevent stumbling and falling, and to protect against the sting of the scorpion 👀

In both ancient and modern times, agate is believed to help one reconcile emotions and reality, and to activate and protect the heart. That is to say, it keeps your passions on the right side of healthy!

Barbatos: Sweetness

Described as being milky white and a "dark sugar drop", this is... possibly white beryl. Or pearl. Or moonstone. Or ivory. Honestly, I haven't got a scooby! I even considered tapioca pearls, aka boba. Would love your thoughts on this one!

i will never not go insane about the concept of hypixel as a society. the thought of an underground fighting ring, people forced to fight for money, rules, systems, stigmas around hacking or not hacking, skyblock communities- whats the culture like? skywars and bedwars being especially brutal, kids young as 10 getting used to dying and respawning over and over and over, parkour maps where players relax and do mindless parkour and train for their next match. duals where players mess around. imagine how bedwars and skyblock players interact- the little bits of slang and technical jargon one player wouldn't understand when talking to another. the concept of hypixel culture is the most fascinating thing to me and i wish people made more headcanons about it!!!

Minecraft World Building and Game Physics Doc

So! For a while iv been working on something called the 

World Building and Game Physics Doc

Which is basically me taking the Minecraft world and spinning into a “real world/fantasy world” setting and trying to make sense of how it works. It started as my Dream SMP and/or Hermitcraft world building doc, but quickly grew into a more general Minecraft type work. 

I worked very hard on it and it took, honestly, a very long time so id appreciate it if people would look at it, and share it around!

It has things like:

Explaining the basics of how the world works

What players are, and what makes them different from non players

The many, many races

Hybrids, and facts about them

Some history about the Minecraft world

The Natural, Modded, and Vanilla plus Worlds

Servers and Hubs

How Players and Admins interact with the world 

Gods, Deities, Immortals, and the differences between Them

And so much more.
