A soft breeze swept into the room as the sound of the waves crashing gently against the metal hull of the Tang slowly brought you into consciousness.
With a tired sniffle, you stretched and nuzzled further into the warm chest you were curled against, a gentle hum escaping your lips as strong arms tightened around you slightly. Your one hand on the tattooed chest danced over soft skin, slowly tracing over the black ink until you felt Law slowly stir.
Warm lips pressed to the top of your head before a groggy voice rumbled above you.
“Awake already?”
You chuckled lightly, shaking your head slightly as your own lips peppered kisses to his tattooed chest.
“No, still sleeping,” you half joked, knowing your lover would have a tired smirk resting in his face.
“Oh? I didn't know my darling was a sleep-talker,” he commented almost offhandedly, giving a small cough to clear his tired throat. “I learn new things about you every day.” One of his hands trailed over your bare back, his fingertips grazing over your skin and pulling goosebumps to the surface.
“Mm,” was all you could muster as your eyes fell shut once more, a content expression set on your features. Law's fingers continued over your skin, drawing random shapes and swirls, though you were sure you caught him scribbling I love you in his cursive.
After what felt like hours, Law finally spoke, pulling you from your dance between drifting back to sleep.
“Are you ready to face a new day, my love?”
You turned your head to look up at him, your eyes meeting his bright amber as the sun slowly peeked in and lit the room in its orangey rays. A small smile overcame your lips as you tiredly croaked out,
“Ugh, I suppose.”
He grinned in response, his hand moving from your back to run over your hair instead.
“That's my girl. Come on, breakfast should be ready soon.”
Your heart swelled at hearing him get almost excited to get up and start the day. Since solidifying your feelings for each other and deciding to say fuck it, let's try, Law's attitude towards things had changed for the better.
You couldn't help but feel a smidgen of pride at thinking that it was because of you.
Pulling yourself from his embrace, you couldn't help but watch his naked form as he rose from the bed, running his hands through his hair before stretching. He peeked over his shoulder and shook his head slightly at seeing your loving gaze, watching him from the bed with your cheek resting on the back of your crossed hands.
You gave your own small stretch, still lounging on your front as Law slowly began getting dressed, looking over to you every few seconds before he finally asked teasingly,
“Do I have to reprimand you for not obeying an order, Y/N-ya?”
You rolled your eyes and snickered, curling into yourself a bit more before you joked back,
“Oh how terrible, my first red check on my spotless ledger. What a terrifying thought!”
You began rubbing your eyes, a loud yawn escaping you as you finally began to wake up. You were just about to move when you felt the bed sink, your hands moving from your eyes as you looked up to see Law tower over you on bended knee.
“Is that any way to speak to your Captain?” He purred out, one hand reaching down to cup your exposed buttcheek. You bit your lip in expectation, a tingling warmth radiating over your skin as you prepared for the consented strike.
You frowned when it never came, your brows furrowing slightly as his thumb simply brushed over your butt a few times.
“I'm not going to reward you for bad behavior,” he snarks lightly, a cruel smirk on his lips as he stares down at you. When you don't respond, he pinches, pulling a surprised squeak out of you.
“Get up, and maybe I'll reward your good behavior later,” he commands gently, leaning down to capture your lips in a quick kiss.
You whine in the back of your throat when he pulls away. You try to give him the most puppy-dog stare you could muster, only to huff when he never turned back around to look at you.
“Your cheap tricks don't work on me, woman! Now get up, I'm hungry,” he grumbles, though a small smile still rests on his lips.
He knows you too well.
You slowly pull yourself from the sheets and gather your clothes, humming softly as the sun warms your skin and shrouds your body in a soft glow.
Law can't help but watch as you dress yourself, unknowing to the literal aura that shone around you, making you look near ethereal. His heart almost ached in his chest, unable to believe in his head that you, of all people, the angel of the Polar Tang, would want him.
Even a year later, the Surgeon of Death didn't think he deserved you.
When you finally righted yourself and pulled your hair into your desired look, you glanced over at your lover and couldn't help but tilt your head slightly as you asked,
“What's wrong?”
Law shook his head, unable to formulate proper words. He simply moved closer to you, his palms cupping your cheeks as he pulled you into a kiss, pouring all his emotions he couldn't say into that one action.
When he pulled away, you lovingly murmured back,
“I love you too. So much.”
Law's lips twitched up before pressing against yours a few more times, for good luck, of course.
Walking out of his room hand in hand, you were both silent as you made your way to the kitchen and eating area, smiling in good mornings to any of the crew awake already.
Sitting at your favourite table, Law immediately started the kettle and grabbed two mugs, looking over his shoulder to you as he asked,
“Coffee or tea today?”
You hid a yawn behind your hand before replying tiredly,
“Coffee, please.”
Law only nodded, making up the mugs the way you both enjoyed. It wasn't long till the steaming, strong aroma of coffee hit your senses, a grateful smile on your face as Law slid your mug to you gently.
He slides next to you right as Shachi places down two plates, one for each of you. Your plate holds your favourite breakfast foods, your mouth watering as you pull your plate a little closer.
“Thank you so much, Shachi. You always make my food so good,” you gush honestly, immediately digging in and taking the first bite. You hum in appreciation, doing a small, little dance in your seat at the flavors dancing around your mouth.
“That's how I know I did a good job,” he laughs, commenting on your small shuffle. You agree with a laugh of your own, taking another bite before you reply,
“You know me, I'd tell you if it was fucking gross.”
Shachi laughs again before half-joking back,
“No no, you wouldn't have to say shit, your face speaks for you.”
You and Law both break into laughter at his words, your cheeks burning an embarrassed red as you snark back,
“Oi! It's not my fault my face is ridiculously expressive.”
Shachi rolls his eyes behind his shades as he adds,
“Oh, you're so right, it's the Captains fault, obviously,”
Law is quick to joke back,
“Yeah, right. Keep cooking, Shachi.”
Shachi grumbles to himself as he goes back to the stoves, allowing you both to finally eat in peace.
Law's one hand rests on your thigh comfortably, his thumb brushing over your pants gently as you ate, your gaze watching out the window as birds flew by, the sun continuing its ascent into the sky. The second you two finish, Shachi takes your plates with a mocking two finger salute with his free hand, watching with a smug expression as you and Law walk back towards his office hand in hand once more.
“Did you want to head down to the Boilers and see if Ikkaku needs help?”
You hid another yawn behind your mug before taking a sip, humming at the taste before replying,
“I can do that. What do you want me to do afterwards, or if she doesn't need me?”
Law leaned over and pressed a kiss to your temple as you made it to his office door.
“You can see if Bepo, Uni, and Jean-Bart want help rearranging all the new stock we grabbed from the island yesterday. We'll be under for a few weeks, at least.” He gives you a pointed stare before adding, “Don't push yourself, if you do. Ask for help if you need it.”
You stiffen at his look before waving him off with your free hand. “Psh, me? Push myself? Never thought of it,” you joked, moving to press a kiss to his lips when he stopped you with a warm hand on your shoulder.
You frowned up at him with a soft huff through your nose as he continued to give you that same look.
“I mean it, Y/N-ya. I don't need you back in my infirmary because you're trying to prove a point.”
You remain silent, simply staring back up at him with an almost challenging gaze in your eyes, to which he finally sighed heavily and pressed a just as heavy kiss to your forehead.
“I'll see you at lunch. Don't do anything stupid.”
You rolled your eyes and walked away, ignoring the way you could feel his eye burning a hole into the back of your head. You turned the corner and sighed to yourself, anxiously chewing your bottom lip as you made your way down to the boiler room.
As you rounded the last corner, you saw Ikkaku sitting at the table just off to the side, containing the blueprints and any notes she makes daily. She was scribbling away at something when you cleared your throat, pulling her from her inner domain as she threw you a wide grin.
“Hey babe! You here to help out today?”
You grinned in response at your best friend, pulling your sleeves up on your boiler suit as you replied enthusiastically,
“I sure am! Let's get to it!”
Seven hours flew by in the blink of an eye, the both of you sweating and overly toasty by the end of things. You groaned as you realized the time, running a clean rag over your face as you commented,
“Fuck, we missed lunch. I don't know about you, but I'm fucking starving.”
Ikkaku groans in reply, agreeing with you as you throw her the rag and she cleans her own face off.
“Yeah dude, I'm starved too. Let's go shower quick and see if there's anything left from lunch.”
She shuts the snail-radio off before hopping on the ship wide Den Den.
“I need someone down at the boiler room so Y/N and I can have some food, sooner rather than later would be great.”
She clicked the receiver back down and not two minutes later, Clione and Penguin came around the corner.
“Go eat! We'll radio if anything goes wrong.”
Ikkaku slaps a friendly hand on Penguins shoulder as you both leave, eager to shower the hours of sweat and machine oil off your bodies. You stop at your old shared room and grab some clean clothes, quickly heading to the showers and locking the door.
The second you're both scrubbed, you walk out with content grins, feeling and smelling clean. You head to the kitchen, talking idly with each other over small things and you wince slightly at seeing Law sitting at your usual table, a plate of food sitting waiting for you with a book I'm front of him.
“You're late,” he comments lightly as he turns the page, not bothering to look up at you. Ikkaku snickers and pats your back sympathetically before heading into the actual kitchen area to raid the fridge.
You slid into your seat beside Law and murmur to him,
“I'm so sorry, I lost track of time.”
He finally looks to you with a side eye, one eyebrow raised as his hand slides to your thigh comfortingly.
“Don't be. Eat up, I'm sure you're hungry.”
Your stomach answers for you, pulling a chuckle from Law as he goes back to his book.
“Sounds about right.”
In seconds, you're devouring your food, your plate empty in minutes as you sit back with a comfortable sigh.
“Holy fuck, I was so hungry,” you commented mostly to yourself, though Law's hand tightened on your thigh slightly.
“This is why we don't skip meals,” he remarks lightly. You give a soft tsk in reply, your hands wrapping around his forearm comfortably.
“Yes, yes I know, it won't happen again,” you drawl out jokingly, though you gave his arm a small squeeze to show you truly meant that you'd try.
“Good. Now come on, I need your help with something.”
He's out of his seat so quickly, you barely have time to rush your plate and cup into the kitchen sink and chase after him as he rounds the corner. You catch him right as he opens his office door, motioning for you to go in first.
You narrow your eyes at him suspiciously before entering, only to squeak out a sound of surprise as you're gathered into warm arms. Law's nose presses into your neck, his lips pressing into your skin as he murmurs,
“You took too long.”
Your eyes slid shut as one hand drifts up to his head, your hand running through his hair under his hat as you chuckle out,
“I was right behind you?”
He grunts softly, his teeth grazing your skin and pulling a soft gasp from your lips.
“I meant… I had a whole plan.”
You froze and gave a very confused,
“Wha-?”
Turning in his arms, you gathered his face in your palms with a worried look on your own.
“What do you mean by that?”
Law simply stared for a moment, his cheeks beginning to burn as he finally somehow got out,
“I… after lunch, I had a plan. It was kind of romantic, I guess.”
Your heart sank at missing an opportunity to be with him. You pulled him into a tight hug as you apologized.
“I am so sorry, my love. You can do it now, if you'd like?”
Law's arms wrapped around your waist, pulling you to him as his face buried into your neck.
“M mmm mm mmmmhmm.”
You chuckled softly.
“I can't understand you when you're pouting, my love.”
Law sighs heavily into your skin before pulling away just enough to murmur,
“... I bought you flowers.”
You could have sobbed at his words, feeling your heart shatter in your chest as you asked,
“Why did you buy me flowers? It's not our anniversary or anything.”
Law pulled away and looked down at you, his hands gently running up and down your sides as if to soothe himself as he embarrassedly bit out,
“... I saw you looking at them yesterday, in the market. And thought you would like them.”
You went to reply but stopped as he continued,
“I know I'm… not the most, uh, romantic or emotionally… inclined, I suppose you can say…”
His grip on your sides tightened slightly as he barely gets out,
“I don't know how to show you that you are my everything.”
You're silent for a few moments, tears welling up in your eyes as you finally reply,
“Trafalgar Law, you are the love of my life, and every single day I am incredibly blessed to not only be able to wake up next to you, but to be yours. In every moment, every instance, every breath, I am yours and you do not need to do a single thing to prove anything to me.”
Law visibly relaxes at your words, his gaze warm and loving as you continue,
“There is nothing I need more in this world than this. All I need is to just exist and to be yours.”
Your thumbs brush over his cheekbones softly as your voice drops slightly.
“Just to be like this. Here, with you.”
Law swears his heart could melt from your words, a soft smile washing over his face as he replies genuinely,
“... You have turned my life into a dream come true. I'm so lucky to call you mine.”
You grin up at him with a chuckle of,
“And I'm so lucky to call you mine. I love you, Law, for now and always.”
His lips meets yours as he murmurs out,
“For now and always.”
The next moments were witnessed only by the slowly setting sun, and the beautiful bouquet resting on his desk, illuminated by the glow of the fading daylight.

Warnings: established relationship, insomnia, brief mention of drugs and alcohol, gender neutral reader.
The night had dawned on you, the sun fully descended from the sky.
And yet, you couldn’t sleep.
It wasn’t for lack of trying, however. You had done all the things that you knew to help yourself ease into silent bliss. You would say you’ve used every trick in the book, however you knew that there were things you hadn’t tried. Unsafe things. Alcohol, drugs. But there was one thing you hadn’t tried yet: exercise. It was one of your last resorts, so you figured you might as well try.
You sigh, your body groggy, but your mind as sharp as a tack. You slip on some gym clothes, tie your shoes and head out towards the gym. The hallway is silent, save for the sound of D.va’s games echoing from her room. Your steps thump on the concrete as you approach the gym.
You reach your destination, and slowly open the door to not wake anyone up. Slipping inside, you notice that the gym is deserted, just like you planned. Starting off with some cardio, you head over to the treadmill, starting with a brisk walk.
In the middle of your walk, you hear the slam of the doors, startling you out of your workout. You stop, creeping towards the source of the noise. You knew that you were allowed to be in the gym, but you couldn’t think of anyone else who would want to be in there at this time of night. You turn the treadmill off as you slink towards the sound.
A distinct sigh rings throughout the gym. One that puts you at ease. Short pink hair is the first thing you see as the person strides into the gym, confirming your suspicions. Your girlfriend. “Zarya! I didn’t know you were going to be working out this late at night.”
Hearing your voice, she smiles and lets out a hearty laugh. “Yeah, I had an urge to work out. You know me, if I have an urge to work out, it can’t be stopped. Why are you working out though, darling?”
You go ahead and explain your situation to her, how you couldn’t sleep. She nods along, giving a concerned by sympathetic look. “Darling, I don’t want to intrude on you, but how about we work out together? I’ll work you hard enough to put you to sleep, but not hard enough that it’s too difficult and puts you in pain.”
You mull it over for a second before agreeing with her. Starting out with a few simple stretches, you can feel her hands gently supporting your back as it bends. She was keeping true to her word that she would make sure you didn’t get hurt.
Next was some gentle cardio. Back onto the treadmill you go, setting it to a speed that’s right for you. However, your girlfriend decided to go a little bit harder and faster. That’s okay, you think to yourself. She’s doing what speed and altitude is right for her. You could feel the sweat dripping down your face onto your neck as you move, and you think to yourself that you must be working hard if you’re sweating this much. 20 minutes come and go, and it’s time for the final part of the exercise routine.
Weights, the bane of your existence. It wasn’t that you felt weak, not at all. You know everyone goes at your own pace. It’s the fear of getting stuck underneath those large barbells. Zarya could sense the apprehension in your body. “Why don’t we save that for the last exercise? That way I can properly spot you and make you feel safe.”
Nodding, you decide to do your dumbbell exercises first. Up and down, the weights meet your chest. You could feel the tightness in your biceps and triceps begin to set in as you change your exercise. Back and forth, your dumbbells go, above your head and behind your neck. Plopping your dumbbells down, you sigh. Time for chest presses.
Laying down on the bench you stare up into Zarya’s gentle blue eyes. They fill you with a sense of comfort and trust. “Are you ready? I’ll be watching you to make sure everything goes smoothly. You have nothing to worry about.”
Gripping the bar, you remove it from the rack, and lower it towards your chest. The ridges of the bar dig into your palms, giving you extra friction. Carefully, the bar raises and lowers. Each rep you do, Zarya’s words ring out in your head. Each set done is a bit easier than the last due to her comforting words. Once you’re finally done, your rest the barbell on the rack and sit up as Zarya begins to clap.
“You did amazing. I am so proud of you for sticking with it, and finishing your set. You are so strong.” A soft blush coats your face as your girlfriend continues to pack on the praise. As you stand up, your legs turn to jelly and you lean on your girlfriend. A mixture of nerves and all the work you’ve done must’ve contributed to your lack of balance.
“Woah there, you must have given it your all. Once again, I don’t want to disrupt your boundaries, but it might help you sleep even better if you spent the night with me. How does that sound?” That gentle blush from before continues to rise, and you can’t help but blurt out a yes.
With that singular word, Zarya helps to pack up your gym equipment, wrapping her arm underneath your shoulder as you begin to walk. The hallways are still silent, changing what was once an eerie feeling to one of peace and serenity. Arriving at Zarya’s door, she unlocks it and steps inside, you in tow.
Her room was not what you expected from it, as there are soft fluffy blankets everywhere and gentle lighting. Dozens of pictures of her at weightlifting competitions and medals litter the walls. Little plush teddy bears hide near the corner of her bed.
Swiftly but gently, she places you onto her bed as you crawl under the covers. The warmth that you feel is incredibly soothing, and you can finally feel your eyelids becoming heavy with exhaustion. A feeling that you have been longing for.
As you drift to sleep, Zarya crawls in next to you. The last audible words she says to you are:
“Good Night my little champion….”
