i need more sambucky fics where sam is bucky's first choice and not a replacement for steve. why can't steve just be the supportive bestie for both of them? or if you hate steve just leave him out of the story altogether.

Look, people touching my neck is a no go unless we are vERY INTIMATE. My bestie of five years? No neck touchy.
This isn’t because I don’t like my neck being touched at all, but it’s just because I think that part of my body just as intimate as my thighs, butt, chest, etc.
So when Sam did that little neck touch when they were walking away from the sunset?
That was the moment I went; it’s not even subtext anymore (for me). It’s canon.

So someone made the below post about Anthony Mackie’s recent comments. And well, frankly, it REALLY pissed me off and I wanted to reblog it with my comments. But then I thought about how I didn’t want to make it seem as if I was encouraging others to send hateful comments to this person, so I’ve decided instead to share screenshots of their post (minus the bloggers name) with my comments below (I also believe they need to be called to account for their comments, so I’ll be messaging them directly). There are many, many others that I’m sure share this bloggers opinions and I think they need to hear this too.

So OP, I’m curious what exactly it is about Anthony’s words that bother you?
That he doesn’t ship SamBucky? Does this somehow magically mean that other people can’t? Isn’t shipping largely built on people subverting canon anyways? So do shippers really need the approval of the actors involved in order to continue their fantasies? Also, if people understand that Sam and Bucky aren’t in a romantic relationship, then why is it so offensive for Anthony to have said exactly what it is that you just said?
Or is it that he’s talking out about a very real problem of mlm relationships being fetishized by many fans? Treating men in homosexual relationships as caricatures or dolls to be played with for your fantasies is fetishizing. Also, did it occur to you that, as a Black man, he might be even more sensitive to the idea of his character being fetishized?
Or is it that he refuses to participate in queerbaiting? We all know Disney’s never going to make a same sex relationship between two male leads canon. Are you equally critical of them for treating homosexuality like a costume people can put on and take off to draw in queer fans while also avoiding offending their more conservative fans?
Or is it that he’s speaking out against toxic masculinity, which perpetuates the idea that affection between men can only occur within romantic or sexual relationships and devalues both male affection and homosexuality? A belief that is harmful to men of all sexual orientations?
Or is it that actually thinking critically about what he said may require you to consider the manner in which you have been treating gay relationships?
I think that you may want to think more carefully about what Anthony actually said and intended with his comments before bashing him. Here are a couple of really great posts (here and here) that would provide some valuable insight. Also here’s an interesting blog post (written by a Black male LGBTQ activist) about what happened when Anthony was confronted with homophobic commentary from a supposed liberal and ally on a previous occasion. Pay special attention to the comments by Jeremy Hooper.
Also thanks for pointing out how your white faves would never do this to you. Really brings your point home.

i cannot stress enough how you should simply not involve actors in your fandom and shipping experience

Friendly Reminder that Adam Vary, the person who did the interview and write up of Anthony Mackie’s interview is ALSO the same guy that twisted John Boyega’s comments to make it look as though he called Marie Tran “weak minded” after she was bullied off of Twitter. He is ALSO the same person that took Ray Fisher’s words out of context and sent a Twitter mob after him.
It’s almost like this man has a history of targeting Black men and twisting their words for clickbait headlines.

In between this chaos I take the funny road...
Stackie faced cancel culture together😅
Btw....why people are so angry??? Canceling people isn't the answer for God's sake🙃🙂
Hi Anon,
I want to join in on the fun but I can't help you with this specific topic because I don't believe in cancel culture. Sorry 😭.
To me it's just a phrase that was used to describe a slight decline in popularity faced by some celebrties, but I have never ever found a celebrity whose career was ruined by "cancel culture" or who was canceled complety.
To me, "Canceling" is a personal choice, you learn something about someone and you individually decide if you're going to keep supporting him or not, buying their music, consuming their content, going to see their movies, etc...
But cancel culture make is seem like there is some collective decision to cancel someone, which is absolutely incorrect.
The only example I can always think of is Armie Hammer? The guy who like to eat human flesh. That's the line apparently? And that is literally the only example I can think of, if you know any, let me knoy.
But Cancel Culture doesn't exist, especially for men, and for White Men who are not into cannibalism.
All the other problematic celebrities have always managed to keep a fanbase, and get knew contracts, new projects, no matter what scandale they had face. They might loose some contracts here and there but will always manage to find new ones and most importantly they will still have a fan base.
And it's not only Stackie it's like 90% of the Marvel cast has done tones and tones of problematic stuff but people always seem to forget about it, especially when it's the White cast...
To my knowledge, Jerermy Renner's career has never been affected by the racist/ misogynistic he has done in the past... He's even getting his show.
The thing is that you cannot really compare Seb and Anthony, Seb has faced a few "scandale" over the years, and people were quite eager to forgive and forget quite quickly. I bring this back regularly because people tend to forget about the post maybe it was a mistake, maybe he didn't know, and his apology was certainly sicnere, but that post was giving major racist vibes, but never kept him from getting contracts.
The only slight difference is behavior fandoms have towards Black men who are held to a completely different standard. When the scandal broke out about Seb's instagram post there were so many post defending Seb BLINDLY, and talking about how we have to care about his mental health too, and people were calling for the fandom to forgive him and so many other thinf.. And trust me I'm not criticizing that, I'm just saying that I haven't seen the same passion coming from those people for Anthony.
But when it comes to Anthony, people to this day still try to drag him for his sandwich comment from 5 years ago, even though nobody ever mentions the problematics stuff the rest of the Avengers cast has done over the past years. So I'm wondering if this is going to last just as long, or if the fandom will treat Anthony like his White counterparts...
But even Anthony won't get cancelled, he will still have a fanbase and get contracts.
But it is true that he will be held to a higher standard than his White counterparts.
If people go too far with Anthony, I will list all the problematic stuff ( AND RACIST) the Marvel cast has done over the past years and drag them all.
I'm so so sorry for derailing from your funny post, but it made me think a lot of thoughts because I don't really believe Stackie will get the same treatment.
All of this to say that I shouldn't write this much just to say that I don't believe in cancel culture lol.
But I'm fine with taking the funny road.
And I can give you the following "joke", I'm joking when I say this but.:
All of what's happening with Anthony is completely Sebastian Stan's fault!! They're friends, what do they even talk about???
If I were Seb, the first think I would have done after the show aired was brief Anthony about how to thread carefully when talking about ships, but NOO, knowing Seb, he probably showed Anthony some Sambucky tentacle p*rn and sent him into a panic attack and now Anthony thinks all fandoms are evil.
