Nie Mingjue is objectively the funniest character to argue about what they'd be in a modern au. He's literally the only one that comes with a straightforward answer, the takes are completely unnecessary.

Like. Especially if this is non cultivation AU because see if it's a modern AU with cultivation the answer is obvious. He's a cultivator. They all are.

But if he has a civilian job??? He'd be a butcher. If the Nie family never became cultivators. They'd probably still be butchers. And do you really think that Nie -will literally die for my family I am ride or die for anything I've ever committed myself to- Mingjue would up and what leave the family business to pursue new horizons?? Pet!LXC is such A Source of brainrot, it's amazing!!! I imagine WRH seeing how attatched/smitten with LXC MY is, and instead of getting jealous, he goes "Threeway time :)" cue LXC bearing witness to the dadson rp with them IN BED and imagine if he tentatively takes part in it bc MY seems so happy/comforted by it :')

Right?! MY is so into his new toy, WRH would be remiss if he didn't do his due diligence and figured out what it is about the Lan boy that's so good 😌

I mean, why be jealous when he can have not one, but two pretty boys in his bed :'D. And a pair that is already so into each other, on top of that lol.

I imagine LXC would already be aware of the dad-son rp, but yeah, it would be a whole other thing to have it play right in front of his salad, and expecting him to partake too. BUT! I imagine LXC being sooooo pained about everything happening but also so relieved that he hasn't lost MY forever, to a point he'd put up with a very high degree of degradation just to be with him.

I MEAN. After the war and everything, MY would absolutely try to save LXC even if the Lan sect is doomed. And well, the best way to guaratee that LXC wouldn't be treated like a prisoner is to have him as his personal servant/pet/spoil of war. No one else could touch him bc he's MY's property.

Of course that would be that LXC would have to accept be seen and treated much like any other servant... not like he can't not accept when that's the difference between staying with MY and going to the Fire Palace's dungeon. And tbh I don't think he'd have much trouble with that on itself.

Like yeah, he's still captive with Wen, no longer the sect leader of his clan, stripped of all honor and rank, but MY would absolutely take good care of him, he would totally understand the situation he is in and how much MY is doing for him by taking that route. He would be very dignified when he is to kneel by MY's side during meeting or whatever, clad in an attire proper of his *ahem* new functions for all the Wens to see, but knowing he is ultimately safe.

It would actually be pretty ironic that now it is him in a position where he is the lowly one, trapped between continuous humiliation and death for not staying in his line tho, only his love for MY as any motivation to keep on living :')

The Second Flautist remains the stupidest but also funniest adaptation choice. Su Minshan, heretofore portrayed as a cringefail loser who needed Wangxian and Wen Ning to save his ass from the Waterborne Abyss, overrides Wei Wuxian’s demonic cultivation abilities TWICE. Not only does he seize control of Wen Ning, but he manipulates the resentment summoned by Wei Wuxian to attack people and turn them into puppets at Nightless City SO EFFECTIVELY that Wei Wuxian cannot regain control of them even on an individual basis with the Yin Tiger Tally helping him.

Su Minshan, true Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, is the most overpowered character in the entire series, and we must therefore conclude that he chooses to be Jin Guangyao’s devoted henchman rather than seizing any power for himself because he finds it personally fulfilling.

Summary: Both are dealing with the aftermath of the downfall; one on the path of destruction, the other getting more of his life destroyed. The positive side is that at least neither of them is alone.

Characters: Wen Ruohan, Wen Xu, Wen Chao, Meng Yao, Su Minshan, Xue Yang.

I guess I'm just continuing with the feels here and tbh it was harder to work with the picking up the pieces than with ruining them the previous chap lol.

Ah yes, A-Yao weighting the pros and cons and gettibg to the conclusion that no matter how much he loves LXC, WRH's attention and everything else he got is more valuable :(

You know, some time ago I was plotting with a friend a story more or less about this (sans the daddy/son rp lol), in which MY as a spy did end up falling for WRH after being so favored and appreciated.

The thing was that he was still in love with LXC and going back to him had been his motivation for everything that far, so in the end it came down to choosing with his head, and the math sadly didn't fully add up for LXC bc there hadn't been any security about what was going to be of them once the war was over, and MY couldn't expect, neither did he want to make LXC break his beloved rules for him.

On the other hand, WRH made it very clear to him that he would make MY the empress of the world he was going to conquer, so even if he may have loved LXC a bit more, well... you can't survive on love.

MY knows all too well the reality of the world and his life has literally depended more than once on not believing in fairy tales. WRH loved him too, and he could also give him the security and position he deserved -even higher than his due as a Jin. He would never be disrespected publicly nor forced to do whatever it took to not freaking die.

In an ideal world, he would marry LXC and everything would be perfect, but that would be too much of a gamble when, on the other hand, he has someone who does love too and has made it clear in no uncertain terms that all his needs would be met if he just let himself be loved by him.

So yeah, boy has too much life experience to not seize a good chance when he sees one. He had seen what feelings and longing did to his mother.
