my family is a little nuts about honda elements because we all have sort of weird car needs (commuting but also occasionally hauling stuff) but I very distinctly remember when we bought a blue one in 2003 for 18k. we used that car for literally everything my whole life and it still runs
my perception of cars and how long they last/how much they should be worth is completely ruined by this fact. I understand logically that things cost more now but I refuse to believe it functionally like some kind of micro boomer. what is a car good for if I can't tetris an entire pallet of wood into it
(car also looks like this)

as far as I understand, the car has a nervous system of wires inside it called a harness. so that part was working fine, but this blue thingy is where the wires plug into some other wires, like when a phone charger connecting end gets messed up. I guess 21 years is pretty good for a phone charger though

Ultimately I will probably have to get a regular sedan car eventually because it does cost money to fix Bumpy over and over, but Bumpy will live eternal for whenever I need to actually transport something larger than a person. I'm going to get the mechanics something nice for saving him

SO:
a little piece of plastic that Honda doesn't make anymore holds the wires that control Bumpy. it got old and corroded, making the wires upset. so they had to take out the plastic thing and then put the wires back into place manually. they did let me keep it though. Bumpy lives again

See, part of the reason I'm think about going to a conference even though I usually hate them is so I could look for a friend to maybe bring with me next time. Someone who wouldn't hate driving three hours to some random location so I could look at dirt. For some reason people don't generally want to do that
There's a really interesting potential shrimp hybridization going on in this one wetland in Volusia County but last time I went there this stranger kept following me and asking for my number even though I said no several times. So I don't know if I'm going back there any time soon
