Aa hi thank you for asking!! I wasn't expecting a Conflict-related question, it makes me so happy that I still receive questions like this 5 years after the first update ❤️

That aside, I think the last update was reasonably recent..? I updated on March 21st, Norman's birthday. Did you check it out yet? (I also love how Chapter 21 is on March 21. Do u see what I see. 😂)

I honestly didn't have time to catch a break, I had been living to fullest and the last few weeks were very interesting, today is actually the first day I thought of Conflict after posting. I was wondering whether I should write tonight because I ran out of saved drafts and there is absolutely no written update to the story expect that on my mind 🥲🥰

I usually write Conflict in one sitting, re-read and post the day after. So if I can get just one night of inspiration, that's enough for a chapter. I am kinda tired today so I don't know if that will be today, but I don't want to put it off too long either, especially when readers reach out to me saying they still enjoy it!!

So... to actually answer your question, I don't know. But I can give a rough estimated date saying I will update some time in April. I think receiving comments or asks really fasten that progress because it makes me reread Conflict every time I get a comment which helps me to get imspired further dkkf and recently a reader shared their playlist with me?? Super exciting!

What determines if something is fandomizable isn't how good it is, it's how much room there is to play around in it. A satisfying story that is straightforward in how it's told (not in the sense of the story itself but whether it's through a single movie vs a tv show vs a franchise) doesn't have nearly as much to mess around with as much longer stories with lots of different aspects to them and a lot of possibilities to play with.

Like I hate this idea that "good" media doesn't have fandoms when so many of the examples used are like. Two hour long movies with a satisfying conclusion and very little space to explore other possibilities, compared to tv shows with 12 seasons or comic franchises that have been getting published and adapted to other media for 70 years. It contributes to the idea that fandoms are built out of dissatisfaction or a desire to "fix" stories rather than out of passion for shared interests.

A hallway taking you from one room to another has a lot less stuff to do in it than a park does. That doesn't make the hallway better, it just serves a different purpose.

i love an author’s relationship with fanfiction. could we be doing much more than writing 200k of a fanon couple falling in love in a third different way? we could. but we’re pleasantly attached to these character who we relate to, who we dearly adore, and we want to engage in their world through any mean it is allowed. i think that is fairly what writing and art embodies.

guys this chapter wasn't my best but I spilled the tea why on the end of author's notes, I might edit the ending later; anyways I delivered the promise despite having a very busy life I'm proud of myself. i guess I finally learned that unless it is *extremely* busy; "busy" is just about time management and priorities. posting conflict consistently was a priority for me (it wasn't AS much of a priority as my job and school but It still was), so I managed to make time. I'm proud. hope u enjoy. also i love reading and replying to your comments (even tho i usually procrastinate replying, trust me i screenshot all of them and save them on a special folder to go back when i want to remember why I'm doing this.

I don't necessarily hate it, especially knowing the brain chemistry behind it, the difficulty of living in our society and how easy it is to be addicted to scrolling contents. Commenting means putting yourself out there to interact with the world, and I recognize that it can be very challenging for people who are addicted to endless scrolling im the first place. (Because, addiction is usually distraction, which means there is a lot more going on in their psychology than just being Evil People Who Don't Comment.)

But...

The OP is still right.

It is like, I understand why it happens, I recognize the difficulties, I get that taking yourself out of that passive content absorbtion takes A LOT of mental and physical effort (and we all have other real-life responsibilities that use most of our energy as well).

But... Truly.

I sometimes think, if you don't even bother to comment, maybe you don't deserve to consume either. Because I assure you, creators are just like you, we all have our own issues, yet we are the people who chose to work on things and put ourselves out there. Despite the difficulties I just mentioned above. So, while it explains the situation-- to me, it doesn't justify. And if you can't put yourself out there even a little bit for the creators you love, you have no rights to expect them to keep their content up. Their fuel is not infitine either.

People used to comment on web comics.

People used to comment on fanfiction.

People used to comment on fanart.

People used to comment on OCs.

I hate "content" culture.

I hate "consuming content" and scrolling immediately to the next thing.

People used to be excited about the art that other people created.

People used to want to share that excitement with creators.

I hate this future.

What I had in mind for this was along the lines of Ray having a miserable day, therefore he seeked out relaxation and comfort by simply bringing Norman into what Ray processed as a 'hug'.
