OK, so... During this period people would paint their faces a buttload with white pigments. It was fashionable to be as pale as death. The issue with that is a lot of these pigments had lead. This would make their brows fall out or inhibit growth. So, a little care was needed when it came to brows, particularly if wealthy with access to these cosmetics.

Now, you can find a bunch of articles and literature discussing the use of mouse skins used as fake brows, but there is actually little evidence for it. So take that as you will. I feel it's better to use primary sources when it comes to stuff like this and, honestly, sources are skimpy at best, without only a few mentions in scripts for plays and such.

Some treated their brows with pigments to make them darker, as shaped and darkened eyebrows were fashionable. So, yes. People did wander around with powdered wigs and stark eyebrows. Take a look at some portraits of the era and you'll see eyebrows are a more natural colour, or even darker. Also, not all would apply extreme make-up, but would still wear powdered wigs.

Powdered wigs were also variable in colours too, not just limited to white, or grey. It was fashionable to use colours! Lilac/Lavender, peach, pink, blue... You can even find portraits showcasing these colours. It's really quite fun!

So I know it was common for people in the 18th century to either wear powdered wigs or just powder their hair, but what did they do with their eyebrows??

Were there like,, loads of gentlemen wandering around with mismatched eyebrows???
