Listen… as someone who’s been writing fanfiction for a while now (like literal years)… I know how great it is to get likes and reviews. Okay? I KNOW
But it annoys me to no end when writers hold that over their readers’ heads and say “I’m not updating until I get so many likes” or “if you guys don’t leave a review I’m not gonna keep writing this book”
Okay… so don’t. If you aren’t writing it because you want to, then why are you doing it? It’s honestly not the reader’s responsibility to motivate you to write. That should be something that you want to do.
Yea, sure I get into funks where I have writing blocks and a good comment or review pulls me out of it and motivates me to keep going, but I’m not relying on that
I write because I want to. Because it gives me joy and I like sharing stories. People liking my work and leaving nice comments is just a bonus
