I really like the live action Avatar show but a genuine criticism that someone else online brought up is that the bending is portrayed more as magic rather than an extension of martial arts. This is one of the most deep and complex parts of the Avatarverse. In the original show all four nations are separated with not much mixing between them. So each bending type had their own types of moves. You could see someone bending and immediately tell which element they were. Water has smooth, wave like motions. Almost serpentine like, based on the moon. Fire bending is violent and fast. Earth bending is solid and unshakeable. Air bending is free moving, like a dance. The live action makes it look like magic, like you push your hand out and some element moves. There’s a lack of martial art moving. Which sucks because it’s one of my favorite parts in the animated versions. In Lgend of Korra, there’s intermixing of elements. Korra water bends the way a fire bender bends. Violent punches. Toph’s daughter’s use water bending moves, probably learned from Katara, to earth bend. Bolin bends earth the way a fire bender does, punches and kicks. Hopefully they do it more next season!

I really, really liked the Mean Girls movie like I thought it was funny and the performances were very good but the best part is that no matter who watched, no matter if they loved it or hated it, every single person came out of the movie raving about the Someone Gets Hurt scene.
