@alteredcanon said: 🖐 tracing fingers against your muse’ skin or over a scar/other
Nikol let out a sleepy hum at the soft touch on her stomach, tracing over the lines there. They were far from the only stretch marks on her body but there were the most noticeable. There were few people she let see those lines, not wanting the questions they inevitable brought when her partner realized what they meant. A hand came up to settle on Caroline’s, offering a small smile, “Morning, love.”

The obvious way Nikoleta’s eyes lit up when she spoke of her betrothal was a joy to see. Freida was unsure if the other woman even knew that she had visibly brightened just speaking of her future husband. This man had better be as worthy of her friend as Nikoleta believed him to be. Freida may not have the magic of the woman who raised her, but she had learned enough. “Everything else,” she repeated slowly, eyebrows furrowing before she turned wide eyes at the other. “Nikoleta,” she tried for scandalised, but fell somewhere within amused, she knew. “I hope he is that good for you then.”
She waited until her friend understood what she was implying before she grinned brightly to keep from letting out a laugh at her reaction. “I thought after my brother found out, everyone else would too.” Perhaps Kol really did care about the family’s honor. “I think he will be. He’s very caring, even if he doesn’t seem like it.” Hector was excellent as stoicism, she’d learned but he did care under all his gruff exterior.

Her eyes danced with amusement even as she pretended to be affronted by the other’s faux innocence. “You know which rumours I am talking about very well,” Freida shot back. She was pleased for the other woman, who seemed to have a light in her eyes that belied her happiness. “Is he a good man? He will keep you happy?”
An arm linked with Frieda's as she leaned into the other woman, "He already keeps me happy." It was part of the reason behind her marriage despite the lack of visible courtship. "He is a good man. If he's a good at being a husband as he is at everything else, we will be very happy."

There was affection on Nik’s face, and as always, it made Bonnie
glad to know how much she cared about Marcel. What they had
was something she had not grown up seeing in her family, and
once upon a time, especially after finding out about her magic,
she had wondered if the Bennetts were cursed to be alone.
Now, she was surrounded by people that loved her. It still
surprised her sometimes. She refocused on the topic at hand
once NIk spoke. “Yeah, a lot of things depend on context that
I’m missing.” She shrugged, frown tugging down at her lips.
"If Kol were here we could bully him into helping. He
had the most ability with magic of us." Or Finn. But
neither of them were there and bringing them up hurt
more than she'd expected it to. One hand shifted so
she could mark her page with it before she continued
looking, "Davina might be able to help but I'm not sure
ancestral magic will be effective there but she could try.
If you want?" Involving others in Mystic Falls would
have to be Bonnie's choice, though.

The surprise she could hear in Nik’s voice subsided quickly enough. The older woman knew about Bonnie’s history, about the inner workings of her family life, such as it had been. The witch had trusted her with the insecurities and the feelings of inadequacy caused by her mother’s abandonment, and now she felt none of the consciousness she might have felt with anyone else. Instead, she turned a beam over to the immortal. “Really? As many as I’d like?” Oh, if only her father were around to go with her. He and Grams would have enjoyed it as much as she was sure to.
"Really." It would be worth seeing several shows more than once if it made Bonnie happy. She deserved something to make her happy that had nothing to do with magic or the supernatural. "We can visit all the museums as well, if you want." Anything she wanted to do, Nik would gladly take her to do it. Besides, it would be good for them both to get away.

“I’ve never been to New York.” She hadn’t been much of anywhere, really. Her father had been too busy trying to make ends meet - and she loved him for it - but she had, growing up, jealously watched as her friends went out of state almost every summer. Now she had the chance, and she had been hesitant to do so, afraid of being alone. She would not be alone now though. “I’d like to see something on Broadway.”
“You’ve never been?” It made sense, of course, working father, absent mother. But it was still a little surprising to her. “That settles it, then.” They simply had to go to New York now, if only to give Bonnie the experience she so clearly needed. “We can see as many things as you’d like on Broadway, as often as you’d like.” It wasn’t like she couldn’t afford it. If they were going to get away for a while, she would make it as enjoyable as possible.

It was amazing the comfort a simple touch could bring.
Bonnie managed to drudge up a smile onto her lips,
small and shaky, but genuine. Just a few years ago,
she would have never thought to be vulnerable with Nik,
to seek comfort with the hybrid. And yet now, Nik was the
closest she had to a mother. “Yeah, he probably would.”
Her lips twisted, taking an amused slant. “He has a lot of
people owing him favours.”
the smile on nik's face was somewhere between
amused and proud as she considered just how many
people owed marcel favors. "he's very good at that."
he'd always had a charm about him no one else could
replicate. her attention was turned back to the book in
her lap, an eyebrow rising as she read. "there's something
here about reanimation but it could just mean vampires...
exact translation isn't always easy with older grimoires."

@littlebennettbitch said: “so, where we gonna go?”
“New York, perhaps.” She wasn’t set on any one place but she knew they both needed a break from this place, from everything that was going on. New Orleans was home now but everything that was going on was still exhausting at time. “Do you have somewhere in mind?”

@writelikeyouarerunningoutof said: “i guess all the rumors are true.” (from faye)
Nikoleta schooled an innocent look onto her face as she looked at the other woman, “I don’t know. What are the rumors about?” She knew damn well what the latest rumors going around their village were about but she planned on feigning innocence for the moment. She offered a smile as glanced over at her friend, “Do you mean the rumors about me getting married?”

Was she flirting with him? Why? Ray was honestly more than
a little confused. There were surely more interesting people
for her to be interested in. He was ordinary. Nothing special.
Besides the fact that she thought he was immortal, like her.
His grin threatened to slip, but he recovered by pressing his
lips together and shrugging, averting his gaze for a second.
“Both, if we’re going to be honest. Never been good talking.”
“You’re good at talking, actually.” Or maybe he was
just good at reacting but still, she had enjoyed his
presence before and meeting him again just reaffirmed
that. She took a step closer, half tempted to bring a
hand up to rest on his chest. “What are you doing for
dinner tonight? We can go out and you can explain
why you didn’t recognize me the last time I saw you.”

Not that long ago, Bonnie had been the inexperienced magic user
exerting herself and making a deal with the spirits she had not fully
understood. She had brought Jeremy back, but there had been a
cost. Oh, Bonnie would not change it even if she could, because
even if she was no longer in love with Jeremy, she did still love him.
He was family, after all, and there were no lengths she would not go
to for family. And he had proven on more than one occasion that he
would do the same for her. Still, the spirits had not been happy, and
she knew full well how delicate the balance of nature could be. She
bit her lower lip, eyes cast down instead of meeting Nik’s gaze. “I’m
glad I’m here too.” She missed some of the people in Mystic Falls,
but the ones that mattered were happy she was away from the town.
The silence from the other made Nik pause, considering for
a moment how the topic off bringing people back would
probably bring things up for Bonnie. A hand reached over to
grab Bonnie’s hand, squeezing softly before she turned her
attention back to the book in front of her. She was sure the
idea that this had come about because did something similar
to what Bonnie had once down wasn’t a pleasant thought.
“If we don’t find anything, I’m sure Marcel knows a few witches
who might be helpful. Or at least knowledgeable.”

There was little that was different in how she looked, though
Ray thought maybe she had changed her hair. She had been
almost ethereally beautiful that first time they had met, had
made an impression because of it. She still was, and he was
confused by the fact that he was someone of interest to her.
“I wasn’t expecting to see you again either.” He paused, grin
flickering uneasily on his face. “I don’t usually do this.”
Her smile grew playful at his words, amusement
lighting up her features, “You don’t make small talk?”
Though, they were definitely toeing the line with
flirting, however subtly. “Or you don’t usually meet
up with women after years apart?”

How had he somehow run across her so many years apart?
It was just his luck that he would accidentally stumble across
an immortal - a vampire, he thought, vaguely remembering
Anna explaining what they were like to him. “I usually don’t.”
Another shrug, and his lips twisted a little into a grimace.
“Prefer not to, actually. Draws too much attention to myself.”
"Fair enough." But it didn't change that he did make
an impression on her. She offered a small smile as
she looked him over, taking in all the little changes
since she'd seen him last. "I didn't think I'd see you
again... not that I'm not pleased to see you."

The Salem witch trials were the first thing to come to
mind. Bonnie knew her own family had lost a number
of members there. She had grown up hearing stories
of the trials, but while she had taken her grandmother
less literally then, now she knew that it had not just
been racism behind the deaths, but the supernatural
beings who wanted balance shaken in their favour.
“Could be magical zombies? Someone trying to raise
the dead but getting it wrong.” The young woman
paused, the defense of herself catching her by surprise.
Someday, how much she was cared for would be
normal. That day was not today. “Or maybe I’d still
have found myself here.” She kept her eyes down on
the grimoire and shrugged. “I hope so, anyway.”
"An inexperienced magic user could easily get
that spell wrong. Bringing someone back to life
is complex." That was part of why so few even
attempted it. The rest was, no doubt, because
it went against the ever delicate balance of nature.
Nik offered a small smile at the younger, "Possibly."
Though, she couldn't imagine that the Mystic Falls
group would've managed to treat Bonnie properly
without realizing her value first. "Either way, I'm
glad you here and not there."
