𝐒𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐏𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐀𝐋.

basically i got thinking abt like. you know when you watch a movie, or read a book, and characters go into a room or they do a particular thing together, and you just KNOW it’s building up to something, and it could be literally anything, from a kiss to a murder, but SOMETHING will DEFINITELY happen??? yeah. this is a love-letter to those glorious scenes! i hope you all enjoy!

[ ROAD TRIP ]: the sender and receiver embark on a road trip together; the purpose could be anything at all, but what’s important is that the journey lasts at least several hours. additionally, the sender and receiver are the only people in the car!

[ BARED SOULS ]: the sender and receiver spontaneously go skinny dipping together in the middle of the night while visiting an isolated lake. go wild! maybe the sender finds the receiver already skinny dipping, maybe it’s the other way round, who knows! you do! maybe.

[ NIGHT-TIME STROLLS ]: the sender decides to walk the receiver home from an event late one night. and it’s very late; so late that they might as well be the only people left in the world. it’s just them and the quiet night sky, and conversations of all kinds are easy to come by.

[ TOP OF THE WORLD ]: one of the muses finds the other on the roof-top in the middle of the night. neither of them want to sleep, and so they sit together for the remainder of the night until the sun comes up, content to sit and talk and exist with each other.

[ STEPPING BACK ]: while they’re both attending a particularly lively and crowded party, both muses, craving a moment of peace and fresh air, accidentally go to the same balcony. unwilling to leave, they sit together, and begin to talk as the party spins on behind their backs.

[ NO VACANCIES ]: both characters are in a position where they must share a hotel room together; not so bad, until they realize the only room left has one bed and no sofa in it. paired with a carpet that not even a worst enemy would be subjected to, the two must share the bed.

[ WRONG ROOM ]: after a long day, and a hotel with many vacancies, the two muses part ways to go to bed. only, one of them ends up waking in the middle of the night, and shows up at the other’s doorstep, knocking and asking to come in, for reasons unknown to the other muse.

[ NIGHT-INGALE ]: after being badly beaten, one muse shows up on the other muse’s doorstep, pleading for help. the other obliges, brings them in and gently cleans their wounds, bandaging them up, helping them as much as they can while quiet confessions and gentle pleas happen. basically, angst and emotion and hurt and comfort, and it’s DELICIOUS–

[ VISITING HOURS ]: upon waking in a hospital bed, one of the muses turns their head, and finds the other sleeping in an uncomfortable chair by their bedside.

💉: Do they suffer from any sort of chronic illness or bodily fragility? - Kaeya

i'm going to answer this from the perspective of someone with chronic joint pain that is sometimes so severe and debilitating that i cannot walk to the bathroom unaided even though i am still fairly young: no, he doesn't. and please let me explain why.

we know kaeya was often sick as a child, and i personally attribute that to the circumstances of his birth. he was born five hundred years ago in an underground civilization; the germs and illnesses he would have been exposed to there were nothing like the ones circulating five centuries later on the surface in mondstadt. i think he spent so much of his childhood incredibly ill because his body had never seen the germs/pathogens/whatever before and, uh, thanks to the last four years in particular, we all know what happens when that happens. thanks covid

BUT ! while it's true that he does get sick nowadays a little more often than most people, his body has largely adjusted after 15+ years on the surface. i don't think he would be able to lead days-long marches or do other extremely physically demanding trainings / tasks if he had chronic illness equivalent to the sort of pain i experience. like, sure, i can hike for 5+ hours... but there is a 99% possibility that i will not be able to walk for the next 2-3 days without extreme pain. obviously, not everyone with my circumstances will have the same result, but like i said, this response comes from my own experience with physical limitations.

also, if we take a look at real-world medical conditions / situations that could potentially disqualify someone from enlisting in the military ( and i think the KoF is very much a militaristic organization ), there is a very long list of conditions that cover a wide range of ... basically everything.

tl;dr, if kaeya was severely chronically ill or experienced severe enough body fragility, i do not think he would have been made the knights of favonius much less ever been promoted to captain. at most, he might have been given a desk job. however, as recently as the alchemy event we learned that he was leading his men on a 3-day march. so clearly, any predisposition he has to illness is not severe enough otherwise he would not have been given that or other physically demanding tasks as a captain in the nation's military.

Where does your muse feel most comfortable at? for Stelle !

the astral express. specifically, the archives with dan heng. he's quiet and also makes her feel very safe, which - the more stelle has had happened to her recently, the more important that feeling of safety becomes. she feels safe with anyone on the express and anywhere on it, but that seems to be the place she feels most comfortable/safe. oddly enough though, while kafka is an antagonist ( i would not call her a villain ) i think there's a part of stelle that believes kafka won't hurt her. so that's not really a place, but there is that. outside of the express, the only place she really feels comfortable anymore is belobog.

What did your muse want to be when they were a child? Would their child self be happy with what they are now? For Thoma !

growing up in easy breezy mondstadt, thoma didn't really have any specific goals in mind. like many of his friends / acquaintances of the same age - the ragbros, jean, i'll throw eula in there too for being around the same age and having reached the same destination - he figured he would probably try out for the knights of favonius and see if he made it in. it's steady employment, keeps him active, and does good for the city and people of mondstadt - not much to complain about there ! i headcanon that he did make it to training sessions with kaeya, diluc, and the others as children. they would all have been too young to actually try out at first, but ! my general timeline is a bit like this:

thoma was ~23 years old when the traveler met him, so of an age with characters like kaeya, jean, eula, and diluc, give or take a couple years up or down.

he left mondstadt about 8-10 years ago (8 when the traveler met him, about 10 now, keeping up with 'real time' in the game)

that puts him at around 12/13 when he left mondstadt and wound up in inazuma

it took him a couple years to truly gain the trust of the yashiro commission. those were very tough years. he doesn't want to talk about it. he probably should at some point.

anyway, when he left mondstadt, kaeya, diluc, and jean were all either already accepted into the knights or officially trying out for the knights. so if he hadn't made that fateful journey to inazuma, he probably would have followed them into the KoF as well.

i think his childhood self would be open to what he does now, even if it looks very different from what he imagined. in a way, it's not super different -- he's still serving the city / nation he lives in and protecting its people. it's just not the place he thought he would be protecting. i think kid thoma would see that his adult self is, for the most part, happy and fulfilled, and has close friends, so he would think it's neat!

What does your muse do to pass the time? For Kreta !

ever since kreta left mondstadt / dragonspine ( exiled by albedo, unable to return ) he has been spending his time at the akademiya, where he is enrolled in the haravatat darshan. he is not sociable and doesn't talk very much, but he's at least of near or equal intelligence to albedo, so the quality of his work is very good. he passed his entrance exams without issue.

as for actual hobbies... he doesn't have any. kreta has had some time to cool off since his encounter with albedo and the others on dragonspine, and while the bitterness and anger and jealousy is still very much there, he puts a lot of effort into spending his waking hours busy. not because he wants to be a ✨better person✨ because that's not his goal lmao ( nor is it mine to give him an easy redemption / development arc. ) but, because he doesn't have a backup plan if he gets kicked out of the akademiya for causing any problems or having confrontations. mostly, if you just let him do his research in peace and don't try to make friends, he will leave you alone.

i guess you could say his hobby is actively avoiding anyone who knows albedo or has any connections to mondstadt. ( hint hint, there's a plot point there... )
