The Shadow Thief (Epilogue)
Authors Note: Hello my little stars, I know that around chapter seven the story had a total tone shift and the the plot started moving really fast but I did that so I could continue writing the story and not losing interest!
Thank you guys for following me on this journey and reading my fics as I find out who I want to be as a writer.
I know the ending is bittersweet but I thought it fit the story
Much love <3

Who am I?
That was a question Y/n used to ask herself every day, she used to look in the mirror, for what seemed like hours, trying to figure out who she was, because, for the first time in her life, she got to choose who she wanted to be.
Now she had a pretty good idea of who she was, of who she wanted to be. Of course, it could change in the future, but she was okay with that.
She didn't want to say she had been on a path of self-discovery, because it made her sound like she was some celebrity who promoted self-help books on their social media.
She had spent the last three years traveling the world. Laughing, smiling, crying. Sometimes she felt lonely, but the thought of going back one day always comforted her.
She hadn't talked to Peter since the last time she saw him in times square. She knew if she had heard his voice she wouldn't have been able to resist not going back.
Peter sat on top of a roof, kicking his feet back and forth taking a bite of his sandwich. The cool breeze pushed his hair back and he ran his fingers through his hair. When he was done, he reached over for his mask only to find it not there, panicking he turned to look behind him, he felt as all air left his lungs.
"Y/n." His voice was barely above a whisper. Y/n stood there, his mask in her hand, with a smile on her face.
"Lose something Parker?" Her hair was longer, now hitting her shoulder, after not seeing her for so long she still looked the same, still made him feel the same.
"No, I think someone stole it." He smiled.
"That person must have been pretty sneaky to have stolen from spiderman." she walked over to him, sitting on the ledge next to him.
He grabbed his mask back "Are you just stopping by?"
"No, I think I'm here to stay." She shook her head looking at him "If you'll still have me."
He reached over to her, interlocking their fingers "I told you, I would wait for you. No take-backs."
She shrugged "I just wanted to make sure you didn't find someone else."
"There could never be someone else, you're my favorite little thief." he wrapped his arm around her waist.
"You know, thief is a strong-." She got cut off as Peter shout out a web, swinging them off a building "I little warning next time." She screamed.
He laughed as they continued swinging. At that moment Y/n knew she had made the right decision. She had found home, he was home. Peter Parker was home.

Whenever Y/n dreamed, she dreamed of falling. It wouldn't always start that way, sometime she would be driving, or she could simply be walking but no matter what she was doing, it would always end with her falling. She would reach out for someone, anyone, but they would just stand there watching her. It wasn't always people she knew, sometimes it was people she would see in passing, sometimes it was people from her time at the academy, sometimes it was Peter.
She had of course looked up the meaning of the dreams, the most popular one she found was that she didn't have control of her life, which she guessed was true up until not even a year ago. The other one she found was that she was lonely, that she was unconsciously craving companionship.
Which wasn't exactly true she had friends... okay maybe that was a lie, but she had Peter. Whatever they were. Frenemies? She didn't hate him anymore. She wasn't even sure if she ever did hate him. Of course, she still did think that he was uptight, nerdy, and a little bit of a loser but he was also kind, brave, gentle, he was everything she wasn't.
Y/n took a sip of her coffee, as soon as the bitter taste touched her tongue she cringed. She set the mug back on the counter, adding several more ounces of coffee creamer. Grabbing a butterknife from out of the drawer, she mixed it around until it was a light brown color. "It's terrible, right?"
She turned around to see Natasha staring back at her wearing a pair of leggings and a tank top. She let out a laugh, taking another sip "I've had better."
"And worst I'm guessing," Natasha said with a small smile.
"That too."
Natasha walked past her, pouring herself a cup, unlike Y/n she didn't cringe when tasting it. "I had thought I closed it." Natasha said "The red room."
Y/n rolled her neck "Somethings don't stay dead."
"I'm sorry about last night."
She looked up surprised, it was rare to get an apology out of an assassin, and even more rare to apologize for something they didn't do, and mean it. "It's a part of the life, I'm sure you know."
"I was the same way when clint first found me. I was convinced that everyone had it out for me, I woke up at night screaming, I even watched my back going to the bathroom."
By now Y/n had set down her mug down, giving her full attention to the older women. She considered what she said, chewing on the inside of her cheek "Does it get easier? Overtime?"
"Better, yes. Easier, no." Natasha admitted, "You know what we have to do."
She closed her eyes, squeezing them shut as hard as she could. Her stomach twisted in knots, out of fear or excitement, she didn't know, as much as she wanted it gone it was her whole childhood. There was no doubt that she didn't have one good memory of the academy, but for some reason, she had a hard time letting it go. "I'm ready." I think.
The two girls were interrupted by Peter walking into the kitchen. Earlier that morning, she had woken up to Peter's arms wrapped around her, she laid there for about five minutes, not moving, basking in his warmth. In all honesty, she had to force herself to get up, his arms had tightened around her waist and she almost gave up.
"Morning." Peter yawned, stretching. His hair was wild and his clothes were wrinkled, he rubbed his eye walking over to Y/n, taking a drink of her coffee.
"Dude!" She yelled, not loud enough to wake the others but loud enough to get her points across "Get your own, you imbecile."
"I can't, there isn't any left." He stated, pointing to the coffee maker.
"That might be my fault." Natasha interjected, "In my defense, we're supposed to be heading out today anyway."
"You know what." Y/n flicked his forehead "You can have it."
"Don't mind if I do." He rolled his eyes.
Throughout the rest of the morning, the Avengers started to fill into the kitchen, Sam began cooking, him stating he didn't trust anyone else to, they all sat down around the tables and floors, eating and laughing together. Y/n watched them, sitting between Peter and Wanda, she watched how easily they laughed together, they were almost like a dysfunctional family.
It almost made her feel, warm? It was like a missing piece into something she had been craving her whole life. And yet there was still a little piece of her that held her back, she almost resented them, she knew that it wasn't their fault, but it was their very group's existence that had caused the opportunity away from her.
So instead she sat back, smiling politely whenever someone would look at her, not even taking Peter's bait whenever he tried teasing her. Of course, she wouldn't completely ignore him, occasionally jabbing him in the ribs even though they both knew it wouldn't hurt him.
"On a serious note, we need a game plan," Sam said, throwing his plate in the trash.
"A game plan?" Peter questioned.
"How were going to take down the red room want to be."
"Wait, I thought you said it was Hydra," Wanda spoke, using her powers to put her fork inside the dishwasher.
"It's like a weird Hydra-Red Room cross over." Y/n said, "The girls from the Red Room, the experimentation was left to Hydra." Several people sent her a horrified look.
"Is there anyone else out there like you?" Wanda asked.
"No." Y/n shook her head "Not that I know of."
"And what made you different from anyone else?" Bruce asked, pushing up his glasses, looking between the tablet and her.
"And what made you different from anyone else?" Bruce asked, pushing up his glasses, looking between the tablet and her.
"I'm the second coming of Jesus. I don't know." She rolled her eyes.
"Y/n," Peter hissed "I'm sorry about that, she uses sarcasm as a defense mechanism."
Y/n was once again rolling her eyes "All I know is that during my time there I was the only one who was rendered successful. I mean there were a few other girls who got small time powers such as controlling insects, one girl even could phase through floors, she phased through five floors before she got caught, but eventually, they grew too weak before dying. It was almost like their powers would drain them."
"Your powers do the same thing," Peter commented.
"Yes and no." Y/n frowned "It's more of a give and take, as opposed to their powers would just take."
"Okay let's say there are more of you out there," Tony spoke "How do we stop teenage girls on steroids."
"We could blow up the headquarters," Y/n suggested.
"That's too much of a liability, we don't want to kill them, we just want to stop them," Steve said.
"Wait." Tony interrupted "That isn't a bad idea, we can read the heat signatures to make sure there is no one left in the building, and if there is we can draw them out. Do you remember where the headquarters is located?"
"No." Y/n swallowed "But I'm sure there's a way to make me remember." she turned to Wanda.
Wanda opened her mouth and then closed it again "I can, but it won't be pleasant."
"There's only one problem with this plan." Natasha commented, "What are we supposed to do about the group who attacked you guys at the train station?"
"We could draw them out, I mean whenever Y/n and I went out they always seem to find us. If we can find a place with cameras we can make sure it gets a good enough look at our face they find us through facial recognition." Peter said, looking around the group for their approval.
"You know, I think that's the first smart thing I've heard come out of your mouth." Y/n clapped him on his shoulder. He shrugged her off, sending her a glare.
"These plans don't sound very foolproof," Sam announced.
"We only live once," Clint retorted.
"Yeah, and the hell of a lot shorter if we go through with this plan."
"Suit up, meet on the bus in 30," Steve told the group and everyone seemed to obey his command, leaving their spots.
"We're going through with this?" Sam followed Steve down the hallway.
"What bus?" Y/n questioned out loud to no one in particular.
"Oh, you'll see," Wanda told her with a smile as she walked past.
Y/n and Peter went back to their shared room, she opened her bag, grabbed a pair of jeans and a black long-sleeved shirt, and walked into the bathroom. After changing her clothes she looked in the mirror, something didn't quite look right, seeing Wanda's leather jacket hanging on the door, Peter must have put it away after she had fallen asleep. she grabbed it sliding it on, she instantly felt right, she felt more powerful.
Taking in a deep breath she went back into the room, Peter had changed out of his pajamas into sweat pants and a t-shirt "No suit?" She asked.
"No, just the good old web-shooters." He waved his wrist at her.
She laughed "I would have assumed Tony would have a backup suit for you."
"Oh Tony does, he even has a thing where you can design your own, but I think casual will suit our objective better."
She hummed in agreement before Peter spoke again "Are you ready?"
"Of course, why wouldn't I be?"
"Because we're about to blow up the only home you've ever had."
Running her tongue over her teeth she walked over to the door "It's bittersweet but I think I'm ready to let it go and it maybe had been where I lived but it wasn't home."
He nodded in understatement "I guess we should be on our way then."
"I guess so."
When she opened the door she saw Wanda opening her own "I was just about to get you guys, you can follow me to the bus."
"Lead the way."
The pair followed Wanda back into the kitchen, she opened the cabinet, moving several cups to reveal a keypad, she typed in a series of numbers, and it beeped. After a few seconds, the fridge moved to reveal a different room that the pair didn't know was there. She walked through wide-eyed and it closed behind them.
The Avengers were loading up into the bus, all wearing their suits, it was almost surreal for her to see them up close. On the outside, the bus looked like a normal one children would wide for school with dark tinted windows. When she entered the bus it surprised her even more, half of the seats were gone, replaced with multiple computers, screens, and maps. It almost looked like a spaceship.
Y/n took a seat near the back, Peter, and Wanda following her. Tony threw the keys over to Clint "You're driving."
"Why do I always have to drive." He whined.
"Because you're the only one who is not needed."
Once everyone was on the bus, Clint started it yelling out "Everyone hold on."
Y/n and Peter looked at each other confused, instantly their questions were answered when the bus started going up, she looked out the window to see the bus being raised by what looked like a big elevator. The roof of the garage opened and they were lifted out into the forest, Clint began to drive through the forest and it was nothing short of bumpy.
After about twenty minutes of driving, they were finally on smooth road. Wanda stood up, walking to stand in front of her, Peter also got up, standing next to Wanda.
"This is going to hurt, the deeper I go the more it's going to hurt," Wanda told her.
"You don't have to do this Y/n, we can find a different way," Peter whispered to her.
"Avoiding pain will make it hurt much more in the end." She turned to Wanda "I'm ready."
Wanda reached out both hands toward Y/n, right before she reached her she stopped grabbing both of Wanda's wrists "Don't stop, no matter how much I scream, no matter how much I cry, no matter how much I beg you to stop, don't stop."
Wanda nodded and Y/n let go of her wrist, she reached and touched Y/n's face "Relax your mind for me." Y/n closed her eyes and gasped, reaching out and grabbing Peter's arm.
Snow, there was so much snow, she was cold, her fingers felt as though they were moments away from falling off. Looking down there was red in the snow, red in her hands, she had been shot.
Y/n's nails dug into Peter's pale skin, making it red. He watched the girl in worry, not daring to move. He watched as her mouth parted open, taking in a sharp breath.
All she could see was Mountains for miles, they seemed as though they wouldn't end. She was so tired, trudging through waist-deep snow, she was almost sure she was going to die, whether it be from hyperthermia or blood loss she did not know. She left that up for fate to decide.
Y/n's breathes were coming in quicker now, she was starting to shake. Wanda's jaw tightened, her red eyes glowing even brighter, she tilted her head, looking as though she was struggling.
This was the day, this was the day she knew she was going to get out. The Headmistress had just walked her back to her cell, she had been training for months, training to perfect her powers, She practice on the guards, stealing little things such as a pen or a piece of gum. Over time it had gotten bigger and bigger until the point in which she had stolen a phone. Finally, that day after testing, when she got close enough to the mistress, she had successfully stolen the keys.
She let out a whimper, her free fist clenching.
It had gone well, she almost got out undetected until Kaitlynn was unexpectedly taken for a second round of testing. As soon as she saw her Kaitlynn screamed, alerting the guards, Y/n broke out into a run, using her shadows to give her a bit of cover.
Tears were streaming down her face, sobs racking her body "What are you seeing?" Peter demanded.
Wanda swallowed "She's running down a hill, she's now in a forest, she just got shot. The shot knocked her down, she's tumbling down a forest."
By now the Avengers gather around to watch her, she let out a scream "Stop, please stop."
She tasted the metal taste of blood in her mouth.
"Please, please," Y/n begged.
"Wanda let her go," Peter shouted.
Wanda gripped her face tighter.
She licked her dry, cracked lips.
"Stop, please."
She knocked the guard back with a shadow.
"Let her go Wanda." This time it was Natasha who said it.
Another guard came up to her hitting her with the back of his hand.
"I can't let her go, she won't let me." Wanda's face was wet with tears.
It was cold.
"Please."
She looked back at a brick building.
"Stop."
A street sign.
Y/n's eyes snapped opened and Wanda fell back, having to have Natasha catch her. Y/n let go of Peter, this time gripping onto the seat instead. Her Breath was labored, she looked around to see all of the curious sets of eyes.
"Are you okay?" Peter asked, the worry evident in his voice.
She nodded her head, licking her lips. Wanda pushed herself back up "No one's ever kept me there, how did you do that?"
"I don't know, I just felt your presence kind of? I felt you reaching out to me and when we connected I didn't want to let go."
Wanda laughed "Let's not do that again, but I do think I have what we need." She walked over to Tony, and she started giving him details about what she saw, including the street names.
"We're stopping at the gas station, so if you want any snacks get them now because we aren't stopping again," Clint yelled.
"Yes, dad." Tony retorted.
"I guess it's time to go play bait." Y/n went to push herself up but Peter stopped her.
"You just had your brain mixed like scrambled eggs, I think it's safe to say just me will do just fine."
She rolled her eyes "Let's worry about that when we don't have a target on our backs."
Sighing he moved, holding out a hand to help her up. They walked down the aisle and off of the bus. Natasha followed them into the gas station and they made sure to pass every camera possible.
Looking at the snacks she grabbed a bag of chips, chocolate, a sandwich, and a drink. She doesn't think she could ever remember being this hungry.
"I miss Delmar's sandwiches." Peter groaned.
"I miss the city," Y/n replied.
"And I miss not having to hear two teenagers complain all the time," Natasha said as they put their things on the counter.
The cashier looked up from his phone and his eyes immediately widen "You're an Avenger."
Natasha put on an easy-going grin "So they've said."
The man eyed the two teens "And these are?"
"My kids." His eyebrows furrowed deeper, eyes going between the three, them looking nothing alike "Adopted." She told him. Thinking about it Y/n internally laughed, the Avengers go missing and a few months later the black widow pops up with a few kids.
The man nodded with his mouth still open "No need to pay, you save the world, I think I can save you a few dollars."
"Why thank you." Natasha picked up her stuff and walked back out the door.
They grabbed their things scrambling after her "Well, that will definitely catch their attention."
________
The sound of several cars driving around caught Peter's attention, he felt... unease. It wasn't exactly his spider-sense but something was completely right either.
They had been driving for hours straight and now it was into the late afternoon. He had spent the time talking to Y/n, mostly them insulting each other. But he also for some reason wanted to make sure she was alright. It was weird. He almost wanted to be close to her.
"When I send the airstrike I have contacts over there who will arrest the remaining guards and bring them to the raft," Tony explained to them.
As the cars got closer and closer Peter finally spoke up "Something doesn't feel right about those cars."
Y/n agreed "Yeah, we haven't seen cars for miles and suddenly they just show up?"
Peter's spider-sense went off "Everybody hold on." He gripped onto Y/n.
Suddenly something knocked into the bus sending them flying off the road. They flipped several times down the hill finally coming to a stop near the bottom by a creek.
Y/n opened her eyes feeling ringing in her ears, she turned to an unconscious Peter, she dropped his arm shaking him awake. Slowly he came around "Peter, wake up, we have to get out."
Once he was fully awake she crawled to the emergency exit, she tried opening it but it wouldn't budge. Finally, she used all her strength to gather the shadows and blast the door open. She pushed herself out of the sideway bus and began to help the others get out.
They moved as a group, all going back to the top of the hill by the road. When they got to the top, they were surrounded by men in tactical gear and the Avengers did what they did best. They fought.
Steve was first, throwing his shield like the one closest to him followed by Tony turning on his nanotech.
A man rushed Y/n throwing a punch at her, she ducked, sending a kick to his stomach. He stumbled back before grabbing a knife out of his pocket. He lunged at her again, swinging the knife at her, she blocked and he sliced her arm. She used the shadows to grab the knife and fling it down the hill. Going after the man she kneed him in the stomach and then in the face, leaving him unconscious.
Another man came from behind her, but Wanda used her power to pull him away from her right as he was about to strike.
This time she lunge at a woman, coming from behind her and wrapping her arms around her throat, she squeezed long enough until she was unconscious but wasn't dead.
Peter used his web-slinger, to stick men to trees and tie them up. He used his web to pull a guy closer to him and punched him in the throat knocking the air out of him.
Y/n took a deep breath, sucking in all the shadows she could get, stealing as many as she could, and slammed her hand against the road, sending several men flying back.
She kicked a gun out of the man's hand as he had it aimed at Natasha, and she used it to slap him with it.
Another attack came from her side unexpectedly and she used her shadows to throw him back. She was now starting to feel every bone in her body, she was starting to feel the effects of using too much of her power in too little of time. But that didn't stop her, no she used it to knock someone down going after Peter.
She kicked someone back again but they were starting to get slower. Her punches getting weaker and coming less frequently, she elbowed a woman in the chest and use the shadows to make her punch stronger than it normally would have been.
She felt as someone grabbed her hair and yanked her to the ground, the person began dragging her across the pavement and over to the hill. Y/n grabbed at the person's wrist but they wouldn't let go. She looked up to see Kaitlynn sneering back down at her as she dragged her down the hill.
Y/n began panicking, she tried using the shadows but they wouldn't do much more than a flicker. She tried to grab onto trees, roots, grass, anything but she didn't seem to be able to hold on "Not so strong are you now bitch." Kaitlynn spat.
She didn't give Kaitlynn the satisfaction of hearing her scream, not even a whimper. She continued dragging her down to the creek and she soon became desperate.
Kaitlynn dragged her across the rocks holding her face mere inches above the water "Any last words?"
Y/n simply smiled, blood cake on her face. If this was the way she was going to die then so be it, she was thankful she got to experience being free, happiness, friendship, she was glad she met Peter Parker.
Kaitlynn shoved her face under the water, she struggled, grabbing at the rocks. Water filled her airways, it really wasn't a lie when they said drowning was the worst way to go.
Right as she was about to give up she felt something. It was smooth and sharp, the knife she had tossed down there earlier in the fight.
Out of the spur of a second decision, Y/n used the knife to cut through her hair, making Kaitlynn lose her grip on her.
Y/n pushed herself out of the water, stabbing Kaitlynn in the leg with the knife, she staggered back, falling to the floor. Y/n crawled over to her, getting on top of her, she used the rest of her power to knock her out.
Y/n slumped, falling beside the unconscious girl, finally letting herself breathe. She stared into the sky, watching as more and more stars began to fill it.
"Y/n, Y/n!" She heard someone call out. It was Peter.
Y/n forced herself to get up, no matter how much her bones protested. She began walking toward the hill, almost crawling "I'm over here Peter."
When peters eyes caught sight of the girl, he ran to her, jumping over sticks, logs, and rocks.
When he finally got to her they embraced one another. He held on so tight, afraid she might slip away.
________
Y/n and Peter stood in the middle of time square, looking at one another, taking each other in. He looked at her short hair, another thing she had lost, but he thought that she looked beautiful either way.
"I know it's selfish to ask but, will you stay," Peter whispered.
"I can't, god knows how much I want to but I can't. I need to see the world, I need to experience." She replied.
"I know, I know, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask."
They hugged, he held on tight but she held on even tighter, she didn't want to let go. She knew she had to but it hurt. "I don't want to leave." She admitted.
"When you do decide you want to come back to New York, I'll be here, waiting for you, no matter how long it takes."
She shook her head "I can't make you do that, you don't deserve to sit around waiting. You deserve to experience just as much as me."
He grabbed her hands "Your worth it Y/n, and so much more."
When they broke apart she let out a sad laugh "You know, I'm starting to think that you care about me."
Peter smiled "Never that."
She walked away, he stood there watching, right as she was about to turn the corner she turned around waving at him, and then stuck up a middle finger. He laughed shaking his head, how in the short span of a few months, did a girl manage to steal his heart.

The Shadow Thief (part 9)
Summary: what happens when Peter has to work with the girl he hates to possibly save the world.
Word Count: 4k
Warnings: Swearing, violence.
Authors note: Hey, it only took me a little over a month to post. I’m patting myself on the back for this one
Tumblr media
The slowing of the train caused Peter to wake up, he used his free hand to wipe the sleep out of his eyes. Looking around, he watched as people began to get up, collecting their things. Seeing what had his arm trapped he looked to his right to see Y/n resting her head against his shoulder. Her mouth was slightly open, letting drool pool out, he clamped his lips shut, trying hard not to laugh. He didn't remember falling asleep, he must have been the first one to doze off.
Reaching over, he shook her shoulder lightly, making sure not to alarm her. Slowly, Y/n cracked her eyes open, she lifted herself off of Peter's shoulder and let out a long stretch. Wiping her face off she asked, "Did we arrive?"
He looked around before shrugging "I guess so, we should probably hurry before we get stuck without a cab." He stood up grabbing both of their bags, before he could put them both on her shoulder she snatched hers out of his hand.
"I can carry my own bag you know." She narrowed her eyes, she was glad that he wasn't mad, she had almost gotten him killed numerous, she lived in his safe house, and now he was even bringing her to the Avengers for both of their safety.
"I know, I know." He gently told her. In reality, he knew she was tired, it seemed like she was always tired. He started to hate her a little less. Everything made sense now, from her not telling him and thing about herself to shadows randomly moving when she was around. If he were to guess he would say the shadows reacted to her emotions. If he wanted to be sure he could have asked her, but he didn't want to ask any more questions, not when they had a long day in front of them.
They quickly hurried out of their isle, and out of the train. When they got above ground and outside of the train station, Y/n pulled the tampon out of his nose and threw it into the garbage. She told him that no one could take him seriously when he had a string hanging out of his nose. If he was being honest he had completely forgotten it was there.
He touched his nose once more before turning around. He waved a cab over, and it pulled in front of the two. He let Y/n get in first and he followed, closing the door. He met the eyes of the driver through the mirror "Where to?"
Peter stuck his hand into the pocket of his sweat pants, after a few seconds he pulled out a slip of paper containing an address and handed it to the man. The driver glanced at the scrap and then back to Peter giving him a strange look. He didn't say anything else before shifting the gear into drive and pulling out of the train station.
Peter had very few memories of his parents, his mother in particular. She is what he remembered most vividly, her nurturing smile, her long chocolate locks, her angelic voice. If he squeezed his eyes hard enough it was almost as though he could see her.
Y/n had her forehead pressed against the window, her eyes would start to shut and would snap open again "Are you okay?" Peter asked, the worry evident in his voice.
She rolled her neck "Yeah, the window is cool, it feels nice against my forehead."
Peter moved closer to her, he gently placed his hand against the front of her head "My god Y/n you're burning up."
She hummed "It took a lot out of me to fight and save your ass." she turned to him, looking at him through the corner of her eye "You're very hard to push, do you know that?"
He picked at the skin on his lip "Are you going to be okay? Like are you going to die, is there anything I can do to help you?"
"Well," she paused allowing her voice to drop into a whisper "Drinking your blood might help."
His breath caught in his throat, pressing his lips together, he slowly brought his wrist to her mouth.
She swatted his arm away, letting out a breathy laugh "I'm joking, I can manipulate shadows, I'm not a vampire."
He felt his face heat up, no doubt it was the shade of a cherry "I didn't know, I just assumed all creatures of the night needed the same thing to survive."
"Creature of the- you know what I'm glad to know you would let me drink your blood if it would allow me to live." She squeezed his arm "No, no, I should be fine after some sleep. Well, hopefully."
He tilted his head to the side "What does that suppose to mean?" but she didn't answer, instead she closed her eyes.
The rest of the ride was uneventful, nothing to look at. The ride was longer than he had originally thought it would be, but then again it was expected considering tony was smart enough to have it far enough away from any civilization so in case something did happen, no one would be disturbed, or they wouldn't be recognized.
Going down a gravel road, the driver came to a slow stop, Peter unbuckled his seatbelt looking out the window. They were surrounded by forest and the sun had already started to set "Have we arrived?"
The driver looked at his phone and back to Peter through the review mirror "Supposedly so, are you sure this is the right place?"
Peter sighed "Yeah I guess so." he reached into his pocket and grabbed out the rest of the money they had and handed it to the driver "Thank you."
The driver accepted the money, this time turning around "Be safe kid, and take care of her."
He smiled "I will."
The sound of the door opening awoke Y/n, she grabbed her bag and slid it on her back. She opened her own door, stumbling out. She didn't remember the bag being as heavy as it was before. Or her body for that matter.
Peter reached her hands out to steady her, her once brown skin was now five shades paler, she began to gag. She pushed herself out of his arms and nearly crawled to the trees. He followed her, she tried to throw up but failed, eventually, she gave up.
She straightened her jacket and turned to Peter "Well we better start walking."
He started walking as she followed "Do you know where we're going?"
"No, but forward is a better placed to start than any."
The sound of leaves and sticks crunching filled the air, Y/n wiped her nose with her sleeve before speaking "So I was thinking."
"Thinking? Well, that's a first."
She tried to push him but he didn't budge "Rude."
He shrugged but she could see the small smile sitting on his face "Seriously, I think after we find the avengers, it's probably best for us to split up."
He stopped, his face falling "What, why would you say that?"
"Look, Avengers aren't my thing, heroes aren't my thing. I'll help you get to where you need to go, but after that have to leave."
Her knees went weak, he caught her before she could hit the ground "Y/n, you can barely walk, you can't go off on your own. The Avengers can help you, they can make you into a hero."
"Goddammit, Peter I don't want to be a hero." Her nails dug into his skin but he didn't let go, if anything he held on tighter.
"You don't have to be anything you don't want to be, I don't want to change you."
"Why do you care what happens to me, if anything if I leave you and your team of heroes will be a hell of a lot safer."
"Because Y/n, I- I." He closed his eyes, letting out a sigh "Because Y/n it's just what I do. Now stop being difficult and get on my back."
"I don't need your help."
"I never said you did."
Reluctantly she let go of his arm and allowed him to turn around, he slipped his bag off, handing it to her and she put it on her free shoulder. He bent down a bit so she could jump onto his back, he wrapped his hands around her thighs and she wrapped her arms around his neck.
Peter started to walk in the same direction that they were going. The tension was thick, it pulsed between the two. She cursed herself for letting herself be so weak in front of another yet she didn't know if she could stand to walk more than twenty feet.
Taking shadows was easy, whenever she did it felt as though she was flowing with energy, but when she had to give the shadows back, it felt as though life force was draining out of her. Everything has a cost, and when you take something that's not yours the price tends to be higher.
Sometimes the shadows would react to her emotions, she would try to keep them in check, but if she was feeling something, too strongly too quickly they would act on their own accord, trying to keep her safe most of the time. Though at night the shadows were weaker, there wasn't much to create a shadow. The brighter the light, the darker the shadow.
Y/n rested her chin on his shoulder "You know, being on your back I thought of would feel taller, yet I feel the same."
He grunted, "Unfortunately, I got stronger and not taller."
"And just how strong are you?"
"Why, so you know just how much it takes to kill me?"
"You know what they say, keep your friends close and your enemies closer."
He tilted his head, his hair rubbing against her cheek "And are we enemies Y/n?"
"You tell me, Peter."
He let out a sigh that oddly enough sounded like a laugh "I'm not exactly sure if I'm going to be honest. I once lifted up a building crumbling on top of me, and a bus also."
She raised an eyebrow "A building, how did that happen?"
"To make a long story short, I didn't listen."
She swatted at his chest "Peter Benjamin Parker, I did not take you as a rebel child."
"We all have our flaws. And hey, how do you know my middle name?"
"Do you remember that hologram thing? Anyway, I may or may not have googled you."
That caused him to nearly miss a step "You googled me?" He said with alarm.
"Oh, yeah, okay, and you didn't google me?"
"Well." he sniffed "I did, but it wasn't like I found anything on you."
"Surprising," she said, the distaste evident in her voice.
"So that means that either Y/n isn't your real name, or it isn't your full name."
She tapped his cheek "I guess that's just something you will never know."
"Come on-." she cut him off, putting her hand over his mouth.
"Shhhh." She whispered into his ear.
"Would it kill you for me to know-."
"Peter I'm serious, we're not alone." She could sense more shadows than there should be at night, they were stronger. Alive.
He kept walking as normal but she knew he was on high alert now. His senses were better than hers, even if she was trained to feel the difference. She clenched her fist, she could feel as the shadows drew to her, her back straightened.
Peter must have been able to sense what she was doing because the hand around her thigh tighten "Y/n stop, you haven't recovered, you'll be weaker than you were before. You could die."
Her eyes brightened and her lip curved into a smile "I won't die a coward's death."
She pushed herself off of Peters back, reaching out her hand, she clutched onto the shadow that was closest to her and yanked it to her. She watched as someone flew forward and fell to the ground in front of her, right as she reach her hand out to finish Peter latched onto her wrist.
"Stop that's clint." She gave Peter a confused look "Hawkeye. Hey how are you doing Mr.Clint- I mean Mr.Barton sir." He stumbled over his words.
"Avenger." She spat, almost as though it were an insult.
Peter watched as she unclenched her hand, Clint took a deep breath, it looked as though he was almost choking before. Y/n hunched forward, placing her hands on her knees. Peter held out his hand and helped Clint up "There you are kid, we nearly thought you died."
"No," he laugh "I'm very alive, though I can say it didn't come easy."
Clint clapped his hand on Peter's shoulder "Follow me."
Peter reached out toward Y/n, but she slapped his hand away. The pair followed Clint, it felt as though they walked for nearly a year before he stopped. He crouched down, moving leaves to reveal a metal door. He lifted the door open with a grunt, revealing stairs "That never gets easier."
He walked down the set of stairs first and Peter followed, the girl looked around the woods before she hesitantly walked down. The stairwell was dark and when she got to the bottom she turned and limped down a hallway. At the end of the hall, she pushed past the cloth.
The light of the screens nearly blinded her, when her eyes adjusted, she immediately stiffed. There they were, surrounded by the avengers, Peter was overjoyed, he let out a sigh with a relieved smile. His body blocked hers as she stood behind him. The walls were filled with screens, most of the group were scattered around several couches and chairs, and something that resembled a kitchen.
"You guys don't know how good it is to see you," Peter said, he moved out of the way letting the group see her "This is Y/n."
"Was this the girl you were talking about last time we spoke Spiderling?" Iron Man asked as he took a bite of a granola bar.
"A girl, Peter talks to girls?" The black widow asked as she came down the hall. Y/n resisted the urge to clench her fist, taking a deep breath she resorted to grinding her teeth.
"Yes, I talk to people of the opposite gender."
"Barely," Y/n muttered, Peter, turning around and shooting her a glare.
"Heard there was an attack on the train station, shooting and all glad you guys made it out safe." Tony said narrowing his eyes "How did you guys make it out?"
"Maybe we should let them get cleaned up before we question them." Steve Rogers interjected.
"Great idea," Y/n said out loud, causing all eyes to turn to her. She looked back at them, her gaze wasn't hostile yet it wasn't friendly either.
"Here I'll show you guys where you'll be staying for the night." Natasha nodded at them.
Peter looked at her and shrugged. And just like that, they were following another Avenger. They walked down the hall, she made sure to kept track of who's room was where. There weren't any other exits she could see, which sure sent a shiver up her spine.
They got to the last room and Natasha kicked open the door "You guys are going to have to share a room." They both scowled but she continued "But hey, on the bright side at least you guys have your own bathroom."
"Thank you Ms.Black Widow." Peter did a weird bow, causing Y/n to scrunch up her face.
"Just Natasha." She said eyeing Y/n.
"Thank you, Natasha." He rocked on his heels.
"I'll leave you guys to it then." She walked away.
The pair entered the room, it wasn't much, almost looking like a motel with a bigger TV. Y/n walked to the bathroom opening the door "Thank you Ms.Black Widow." She mocked.
She looked in the mirror, her hair was frizzy, and her skin was littered with bruises, cuts, and dirt. She heard Peter groan from the other room and she smiled, grabbing two towels off of the rack. Going back into the room she saw as Peter laid on his back on the bed.
She threw the towel onto his face and he snatched it off "You are awkward aren't you?"
He opened his mouth to argue and then he closed it again "Maybe a little." He squeaked.
"A little?" She wiped the dirt off her arms.
"Bug off." He sniffed "You should get those cleaned." He pointed to the scratches on her face.
She traced them lightly with her finger "I'll be fine."
He stood up "You don't want those to get infected."
"Nothing a little soap and water can't fix."
"I'm serious, you'll be fine, Bruce couldn't hurt I fly, you'll be in great hands."
"You know." She took a step closer to him "I'm starting to think that you care about me." Her voice was barely above a whisper.
He leaned in "Never."
She smiled, turning to the door "Well then if you insist."
He opened the door and they went to what was supposed to be the med-bay. When they entered instead of seeing Bruce, The Scarlet Witch sat at the desk, she looked at the pair and gave them a warming smile.
"Peter, long time no see, how have you been?"
"I'm good Wanda, I'm just glad to be her. Where's Bruce?"
She closed the book she was reading "He's in the lab but he should be back any second. Is there anything I can help you with?"
"Yeah, Y/n here has some nasty scratches and she would like to get them cleaned up."
Wanda stood "Yes, of course, follow me to the back."
Y/n looked at Peter and he gave her a slight nod. Wanda patted the bed and she sat down, making sure to keep her eyes on her. Though she wouldn't admit it out loud, she was glad to be sitting down.
Wanda turned to get supplies, strapping on gloves "Cute jacket, where'd you get it?"
Y/n tapped her fingers along the side of the bed "It's yours."
Wanda poured alcohol onto a cotton swab "This might hurt."
"It's fine, go ahead." She pressed the cotton onto her cut and she flinched back.
Wanda tilted her head "I can't read your mind."
"Is that right?" Y/n allowed her tongue to run across her teeth.
"You've had training." Wanda smiled.
"I did." She stated.
"I'm not going to hurt you." Wanda started "Well besides for cleaning your gashes."
"I know, though calling them gashes might be a little extreme."
"So you're not scared of me?"
"Should I be?" Y/n asked. Peter never left her side, every time Wanda would press the alcohol against her face he would flinch harder than she would.
"Most people are," Wanda said, her voice thick.
Y/n wiggled her fingers "I'm not most people."
Wanda finished her off, putting bandages on her scratches. She stripped off her gloves throwing them in the garbage. Suddenly there were voices yelling, traveling toward the med-bay. Tony burst into the room "You." He said pointing at Y/n "Who the hell are you, I've run your face through every database and nothing popped up. You don't exist. You tell me who you are or so god—."
Y/n held her hand up, the lights flickered, a few of the bulbs bursting "I wouldn't advise you to take another step."
"Why what are you going to do, kill me? Kill all of us."
She let out a laugh that sounded more like a scoff "No I'll do something so much worst. I'll tear your shadow apart, piece by piece. Do you know what it's like? To have your shadow shredded, it's like tearing your soul apart, you will drown in sorrow. Become it. And at the end, you'll look in the mirror, terrified of what you've become."
"Wait I thought you said you couldn't hurt anyone," Peter said.
"Well, I might have lied."
"Okay, everyone why don't we just calm down and talk this out," Wanda said as she and Peter stood in front of Y/n as if protecting her.
Tony backed down and Y/n put her hand back down "Who are you?" He asked again.
"Donatella, I don't know my last name. I don't know my parents, and I don't know where I'm from. Actually, that last part is a lie, I'm from the red room, or a branch of it anyway."
"So you're an assassin, your we're a part of the ones who attacked us," Tony concluded.
"I guess what the world says about you is true, you're one smart cookie."
"Y/n." Peter whispered loud enough for her to hear "Not helping."
Peter sighed "Originally they weren't after us, they were after Y/n, but somehow they figured out who I was and so they decided it was a good time to overthrow us."
"Oh great, they're trying to kill us because you went rogue, and you can what exactly?"
"Steal, manipulate, destroy shadows." She gave a predatory-like smile.
"Terrific guys, we have a Peter Pan on our hands." He said sarcastically.
"And to pair with it, a short old man, still going through a midlife crisis twenty years later, with mood swings."
"Tony."
"Y/n." The group yelled at them at the same time.
"Nat, did you know there was another part of the red room open?" Steve asked her.
"No, I had thought me and Clint closed it down years ago," Natasha said.
"I'm living proof you didn't." Y/n leaned forward.
Peter interjected "Can we all talk about this tomorrow. Y/n and I have had a long day and I think it's best to finish this discussion when emotions aren't involved."
Everyone else seemed to agree, so Y/n pushed herself off of the table and left the room, with Peter following her. Once they got out of the room and into the hall Y/n grabbed Peter to steady herself, they went back to their room without saying a word. She grabbed clothes and went to the bathroom to change. When she got back she saw Peter sitting on the floor with a pillow and blankets.
"Come on Peter, you're not sleeping on the floor." She grabbed his pillow and blanket and put them back on the bed.
"You're not sleeping on the floor either, it's cold and hard. You'll probably wake up feeling worst than you feel now, need I remind you is pretty bad."
She rolled her eyes, going under the covers "Then well just have to share a bed then."
She watched as his face went red "Are you sure about that?"
"If you try anything I am more than capable to take care of myself."
"I never doubted it." He pushed himself out of the floor, walking over to the bed, he slid under the cover next to her, making sure to keep enough distance.
Y/n reached out and turned off the light, finally letting her head hit the pillow. She let out a sigh of relief, happy finally to be in a bed.
"Donatella, really, I mean I could have guessed that if I tried hard enough."
She didn't have enough energy to reach out and hit him "Don't call me that unless you want a certain death." She teased.
"You wouldn't kill me, I'm too pretty to die."
Y/n turned in the bed to face him "That you are."
"So you agree with me?"
"A little confidence goes a long way, Parker."
"Who would've known." He replied softly.
Y/n let her eyes shut slowly, floating away into a peaceful sleep. Peter watched her, he couldn't put into words what he felt when he looked at her, so calm, not constantly hiding her hurt with smiles. He tucked her flyaways behind her ear, she snuggled closer to him, putting her face into the crook of his neck.
Peter didn't move, he didn't breathe. Not because he didn't want to wake her up, but because he didn't want that moment to be over.

Authors Note: Hey it didn’t take me a month to update, be proud of me :)

"I was wondering when you were going to come." Y/n looked up from the ground.
There she was, it was the first time in months that Y/n had seen her. She quickly snatched her hand back and turned to the girl, the girl looked her up and down in disgust "You know we've had eyes on you the whole time."
"I had a feeling you did Kaitlynn, Maybe it's you tried to kill me at the school or again at the avengers compound, but I'm not really sure what gave it away." She said sarcastically.
Actually, Y/n didn't know it was them at first, it wasn't until they tried to kill them again at avengers compound that she put it together. She knew Hydra wasn't smart enough to figure out where they were at twice so it could only be one organization. She felt a twinge of guilt from dragging Peter into it when he didn't deserve it.
"Joking around won't help you escape," Kaitlynn said as the two began to circle one another.
"I've done it three times so far I think I might be able to manage a fourth." Y/n tilted her head at the girl.
"When we get back to the academy Head Mistress is going to give you a slow, painful death. Or perhaps I should just end it for you right now, say it was the slip of the finger on the trigger." Kaitlynn said taunting her, even if she was saying that to rile her up, she knew it was true. The headmistress wasn't merciful.
"I'm sure you would say it was a mistake, that would be believable since you can't seem to get anything right." Y/n snapped back.
"Is everything alright ladies?" Peter asked placing a hand on Y/n should, standing next to her.
Y/n got in front of Peter, pushing him behind her. He was confused, the two girls looked like they were seconds from killing each other. He didn't even know that she knew anyone from the state of New York. He just assumed that she was new there.
She put her hand behind her pushing him farther back "Peter go find our seats on the train." She commanded.
"What? No, I'm not leaving you here." He stood up straighter looking at her like she had lost her mind. He could tell that she was serious and wasn't joking by the tone in her voice.
"Yeah go run Peter." Kaitlynn mocked.
Running out of patience, Y/n turned around and pushed Peter as hard as she could in the chest, caught by surprise he felt backward into a pole, the bag in his hand sliding across the floor. She lunged toward Kaitlynn, throwing a punch at her. Kaitlynn ducked, kicking her in the stomach "It hasn't even been six months and you're already rusty."
Y/n stumbled back before regaining her footing, "You're just bitter that no matter how hard you try to play teacher's pet, you'll never have powers."
This time it was Kaitlynn who threw the punch, Y/n grabbed her arm, twisting it behind her back. "Jealousy isn't a good look on you babe." She whispered into Kaitlynn's ear. Kaitlynn was shorter than her, standing just a bit above her chin.
Several gunshots went off and people started to run for the exits and trains. Kaitlynn let out a menacing laugh "I guess you better put those powers to use."
Unexpectedly Kaitlynn, stomped on Y/n's foot, forcing her to let go. Kaitlynn spun around, somehow having a knife in her hands. She thrust her hand out towards Y/n's stomach, it was too late, Peter wouldn't have time to push her away, at that moment he couldn't recall if he let out a scream or not, he sat there frozen, just like uncles bens death, he was useless. He knows that she didn't mean to push him into a pole, for some odd reason she was trying to save him, his face had hit the poll with a strange amount of force. Even being dazed for a few seconds wasn't an excuse to just let her die.
Right as the knife was about to plunge into Y/n's stomach Kaitlynn suddenly stopped, Y/n held her right hand slightly out toward the girl, Peter watched as what he could only explain as darkness swirl from Y/n's arm, circling around the knife in Kaitlynn's. It was like the mist? Was holding her back from stabbing her.
Y/n threw her arm out to the side and the knife obeyed her command, flinging across the room. She began to raise her arms and the lights started to flicker, he watched as she struggled to bring her hands up to her chest, placing her left hand behind her right, he could hear the sound of light bulbs breaking as the room got darker and darker. Suddenly she thrust her hands out toward Kaitlynn, the darkness went rushing to her, throwing Kaitlynn into the wall that was more than twenty feet from her.
Y/n didn't waste any time before rushing over to Peter. She helped him up off the floor and grabbed the bag a few feet away from him. She wrapped his arm around her shoulder and her arm around his waist. They both limped over to the train and wordlessly Peter handed the man the tickets, he wasn't sure how she had gotten them but he didn't ask. He was surprised that they were still accepting tickets after what had happened not even 30 seconds before. He guessed when you lived in New York long enough you see everything.
As they continued to walk through the train he felt as Y/n shook, putting more and more weight onto him. They nearly carried each other into the bathroom before he closed the door. "Sit." She said, nodding toward the toilet, he was sure she needed to sit more than him, but he didn't put up a protest.
She took the bag off her arm placing it on the sink, she opened the box of tampons before taking one out and placing it on the sink. Grabbing a wad of toilet paper she walked over to stand in front of him. He looked down, refusing to meet her eyes. She gently grabbed his jaw and lifted his face up to hers, she used the toilet paper to wipe the blood from under his nose that he didn't know was there. She threw the bloodied paper in the garbage before grabbing a tampon and ripping the packaging open, she placed it at the base of his left nostril and pushed on the inserter. He tried to move his head away but she held his head firmly so he wouldn't be able to until she was done.
"What was that back there." He asked softly.
Y/n squeezed her eyes shut as hard as she could. She wished everything would just go away, she wished she could go away. She hated this, sometimes she felt as though she was drowning in the darkness, it was suffocating. She was just barely treading water and underneath was a promise of sorrow and suffering.
Peter let his feet tap against the floor a few times before pushing himself up "I've tried Y/n, I've tried to be patient but someone just tried to kill you. So tell me what the hell is going on."
She gripped onto the sink before wetting her dry lips "When I was young, only three or four months, my parents had made a deal with some very bad people and for some reason, they couldn't hold up their end of the deal so they got me as collateral—."
There were several loud knocks "I know what you guys are doing in there, people need to use the bathroom, get the fuck out."
She clenched her teeth so hard he thought they might shatter, Peter swung open the door, he was about to tell him to get lost but Y/n's hand grazed his arm and she shook her head. The man standing outside the door looked at the pair and let out a slow whistle "Woah, you two are in bad shape."
Y/n just rolled her eyes and walked past the man, Peter turned around shoving everything into the bag before following her. She walked toward the back on unsteady feet, he caught up to her, looping his arm through hers.
When they got to the back he let her sit down first so he would be on the outside. She let out a small sigh of relief before turning toward Peter. He set the bag down between them and nervously began to chew on the inside of his cheek, he should be the one that's nervous. She was the one that was hiding a secret, so why was his stomach twisting?
"I was raised in the red room for a while, for about four or five years until they found another purpose for me." She sniffed "This was around the time the Avengers were getting big, Hydra and The Red Room both knew them to be threats so they decided to collaborate, them having similar interests and all."
She rolled her neck before continuing "They picked girls in the Red Room, they had to be young and in peak condition, so they were only a few of us. We were sent to a small school in the middle of Europe, a woman called the mistress raised us. We were trained, tortured, six days a week, save Sunday as they used that as a day for us to recover. They used us as lab rats, injecting us serum after serum, I watched as many of my classmates died.
"If you didn't get powers they wouldn't stop until you either got them or died, some girls were unfortunate and were strong enough to survive but not enough to get powers, and I was one of the lucky or not so lucky ones to get powers, it depends on how you view it."
Peter sat there as she continued to talk, hanging onto every word. His mouth hung open, she didn't let one tell slip, her voice didn't even waver in the slightest, he could see how tired she was, tired of everything. He wanted to wrap her up in a blanket and protect her from every bad thing that came for her but he knew she wasn't like that, the only person she could trust was herself, and he didn't blame her.
"So what are your power?" He asked her lightly, leaving room for her to leave the conversation alone.
"Essentially I can manipulate shadows, I borrow people's shadows and use them to do my bidding." She shrugged.
"So you're a shadow thief?"
That caused a small smile to form on her face "You know, thief is a strong word, and plus I always give them back."
"Wait, have you ever stolen my shadow?"  He scrunched his face.
"I haven't, not for the lack of trying of course." He scrunched up his face and she huffed out a laugh, letting out a yawn "Your shadow is different."
"How so?" Now he was confused, how could someone's shadow be different?
"When I take other people's shadows, I let the shadows pour into me, I feel the power run through me but with your shadow, it feels as though I have to pull it to me. It's more powerful, it's like it has reflexes or a defense mechanism."
Peter frowned "I guess that would make sense because of my spider-sense. But aren't shadows just the lack of light, so could you take the shadows of an inanimate object?"
"I can but it's harder." She sat up slightly, angling her body towards his "They say that shadows are connected to the soul, and that's why they used to say that vampires didn't have souls, because they don't have shadows. It doesn't hurt when I take people's shadows, but I've been told you do feel as though something is missing because I took a piece of your soul."
His eyes widened "So you're a soul sucker, maybe don't steal my shadow, I don't want to feel incompetent for the rest of my life."
Y/n rolled her eyes "You won't feel like that forever, it doesn't go away. You can't steal shadows, Peter, if you take something that's not yours, you can't go without consequence."
Peter tilted his head at her "That's why you were shaking earlier, using your powers takes a lot out of you."
"Pushing you into that pole took more force than I thought it would. Sorry about that, by the way."
"It's okay." He lifted his fingers up to graze his nose, it felt slightly swollen, but it would heal in a matter of hours. "You have weird powers."
She narrowed her eyes, grabbing one of the snacks out of the bag "Says the one that can walk up walks."
He gasped "Walking on walls is perfectly normal, so you want to know what isn't normal? Being a soul-sucking demon."
"Am not."
"Am too."

The Shadow Thief (part 7)
Summary: What happens when Peter has to work with the girl he hates to possibly save the world.
Word Count: 2k
Warnings: Swearing.
A/n: do to Spider-Man no way home coming out I decided to finally post another chapter ;)
A/n 2: do I know this is late? Yes. Will I post on time next week? Probably not.
I apologize for the choppy writing, I wrote this over a few months.

Y/n slide her arm through the leather jacket, looking at herself in the mirror she adjusted the jacket a second time. She had to admit, Wanda did have good taste, even if she did dress like she would be the bad girl in some shitty chick flick.
She turned around and grabbed her bag off of the bed. When she opened the door she saw Peter standing there ready to knock. "Ready?" she asked stepping out of her room, as soon as she stepped into the hall the once dark room turned light again.
Peter blinked, had he finally lost it? He knew it would happen one day, he was just hoping it would hold off for a little longer. If anyone asked he supposed he could blame it on all of the blood rushing to his head, well if they were gullible enough."Yeah umm- meet me downstairs."
She narrowed her eyes at him "You good Parker?"
He cleared his throat, looking not at her but behind her "Everything is great."
In turn, she shrugged and walked past him down the stairs. He had a feeling that there was something that she wasn't telling him and the urge had only grown stronger over the weeks. Peter felt like she knew so much about him but he didn't know anything about her.
He shook his head as in to shake the thought away and followed Y/n downstairs, out of the door. The sun wasn't out yet, and there was still the night's chill in the air. Peter watched as she pulled her jacket closer to her body making her way to the motorcycle "Hey, we aren't using that thing." he called out.
She turned around throwing her arms up "And why the hell not?"
"Because it's dangerous and we don't want to draw any more unnecessary attention to ourselves."
"You're such a killjoy sometimes." She dragged her feet over to him as a toddler would do when they didn't get their way.
She threw her bag and he caught it without looking up. He walked behind the safe house where they parked the cars. He pulled the tarp off of the car and grabbed the keys out of his pocket.
Y/n up from behind him "An Audi?" She whistled, not even a regular Audi, an Audi r8 with custom rims "I've always wanted to steal one of these."
Peter looked at her horrified "You're terrible, do you know that."
She smiled "You only remind me every day." She tried to snatch the keys but he moved his hand before she could reach it.
"We've gone over this Y/n, you don't have a license, do you know what that means? No driving."
"And what about you and your learners permit?"
He crossed his arms "I'll have you know I've had my license for two years."
"Really?"
"Yes really."
She snorted "Really?" She asked again "You look like you haven't even gone through puberty yet."
Peter got in the car and lightly slammed the door as if though to show her a point, she opened the passenger side and got in "Passive-aggressive I see."
Peter started the car putting it into reverse. He pulled out from the back of the safe house and onto the gravel road. She looked out the window toward the thick forest. It seemed to go on forever, and that unnerved her. She didn't like the unknown. Though she knew Peter would disagree with her saying she liked to make rash decisions. But there was a thin line between possibility and probability, and it's not one she liked to cross.
She let out a long sigh "I hate the forest, and trees, and the heat, and when the sun is up, and maybe just nature in general."
He didn't reply so she sat further back in her seat and crossed her arms "So what? You're just gonna ignore me the whole drive now."
She watched as his thumb tapped against the steering wheel "It's always something with you isn't it?"
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"You know damn well what I mean."
Y/n morphed her face into a feigned shocked expression "Do you kiss your mother with that dirty little mouth of yours?"
"No, my mother is dead."
She let out a startled laugh and slapped a hand over her mouth when he shot her a glare "Sorry I uhh—." She blinked "It's not funny, I didn't mean to laugh. You just caught me off guard."
"I'm not mad," he sighed "I honestly wouldn't expect anything better from you."
Ouch, that burned "Well if it makes you feel better, I've never met my mom."
Peter shook his head, Y/n had never talked about her family or anything from before they met. Sure she would leave little pieces about her past but nothing enough to pit the whole picture together. He kind of liked the mystery, it was thrilling. She could be some crazy killer, though he doubted that. Well, the killer part. He didn't doubt she was crazy.
"It doesn't but thank you."
Y/n picked at the hangnail on her finger, stopping when it began to get irritated "Hey before we get on the train can we stop at the store so I can get tampons."
Peter scrunched up his face and Y/n raised her eyebrow "Why the face? You know periods are a perfectly normal--."
"Yes, yes I know periods are normal--."
"But I understand if you don't fully understand--."
"I know how women's bodies work Y/n, I don't need the talk."
She threw up her hands in mock surrender "Okay, a sensitive subject I see."
He shook his head "What I mean is, why didn't you pack a few at the safe house?"
"Well- actually that is a good question."
Peter hesitated before he asked, "What is it that you don't like about the forest?"
"I don't know," she sighed "Maybe it's because I don't like the unknown? it's just always creeped me out, ever since I was a child."
Peter didn't know what to say, this was probably the first time since he had met Y/n that she had ever been serious with him and let him know a little bit about her. He knew that she trusted him, but he also knew that she had a bit of a hard time opening up, and he wouldn't push her,  because he knew that it was harder for others. But he definitely wouldn't object to more knowledge about her "I'm scared of penguins."
Her head snapped over to face him "Penguins?"
"Yes really! They aren't natural. How do they even walk? they don't have legs!"
"You know at this point Parker, I wouldn't be surprised if you said you were scared of your own shadow."
"I am not scared of my shadow." He protested.
"You should be." She wiggled her fingers in his face. She watched as he laughed, the nice sound she had gotten accustomed to over the weeks, hit her ears. By now the sun had come up, a golden glow lit up the right side of his face, making his chocolate hair seem lighter.
The way he smiled made something in her stomach twist she didn't know was possible. When she was with him she felt as though she was in a state of calm, all of the voices in her head seemed to quiet down and just focus on him. He was starting to break down all of the walls she had been building since childhood, the ways she had been trained to build. Everything in her screamed to tell him, to tell him everything about her. But she couldn't, or it's more like she wouldn't because, in the end, she would be alone again. She turned on the radio and closed her eyes, it was going to be a long day.
~
Peter shook Y/n away as he pulled into the parking lot of the train station. Y/n slowly opened her eyes and wiped the drool away from the corner of her mouth. Glancing at the clock she saw they had 30 minutes to board the train, that was more than enough time to grab what she needs in the store and make it on the train to get comfortable enough seats.
He picked a parking spot toward the back and she unbuckled her seat belt, Peter popped the trunk and Y/n pushed herself out of the car grabbing both of their bags. When he got out of the car she threw his bag over to him and closed the trunk. Before they walked away she turned, giving the car one last look, and sighed, "Goodbye dear Audi, so sorry I didn't get to steal you."
Peter looked away, curling his lip in disgust. She slide her bag onto her back and they started to walk toward the train station. He looked around the parking lot, tilting his head toward Y/n "It's fairly empty for a weekend isn't it?"
She shrugged it off, seemingly not noticing "It's not far into the school year, I'm guessing not many people are wanting to travel."
"Are you sure we should be doing this, taking the train I mean?" Peter couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right, he didn't spot any potential threats, but that didn't mean there wasn't any.
She grabbed his arm almost in a sincere matter "Don't worry Peter, I'll save you if anything goes wrong, that's what I'm here for." She cooed.
He shrugged her off as they entered to door into the station, he reached into his pocket and pulled something out "I almost forgot, we have to buy tickets."
"I thought you had bought them last night."
"Well, I was going to but it turns out all of my credit cards are frozen. Who would have thought." Peter chuckled awkwardly.
She sighed pinching the bridge of her nose "Fine, give me the money and ill buy the tickets and you grab me a box of tampons."
He handed her the cash and she snatched it out of his hand, god he could be infuriating sometimes. As he was walking away she called out "And snacks."
"Whatever." He yelled back to her.
A triumphant grin slide onto her face, even if he couldn't see it. Y/n made her way across the station, following the arrows to get to the ticket booth. Halfway there she decided to count the money, she was twenty dollars short. Peter must have counted wrong, for a baby genius he sure could be stupid sometimes.
But it wasn't a problem for Y/n, especially not when she could finally put to use one of the many skills that had been locked away for weeks. She shoved the cash in her pocket and pulled on her sleeves, oh this was going to be fun.
Her eyes zeroed in on a worker a few feet away from her, he was bent over placing tiles on the bottom of the wall. There was money peaking out of his back corner pocket, it was like it was begging for her to snatch it. As she walked past him she snagged it out of his pocket and kept walking. She unfolded the money to only see three dollars. She had put in all of that for a measly three dollars.
There was a little girl who was pulling in her mother's hand, the mother bent over to her daughter leaving her purse exposed on her left side. Y/n pulled her lip in between her teeth in excitement and slightly picked up her pace walking over to the pair.
When she got within reach of the purse, she extended her arm out to the purse, right as her fingers were about to dip inside someone grabbed her wrist. She rolled her eyes, Parker always came at the worst times didn't he. But the grip was too tight to Peter's and the hand was too small.
Y/n looked up from the ground, letting out a humorless laugh "I was wondering when you were going to come."

There was a constant ringing noise in her ear, her eyes felt heavy, she couldn't move, she couldn't talk, she could barely breathe. This is what she imagined drowning would be like, was she dead?
Jedidah lunged at her fast, but she was quicker squeezing the trigger. A shot rang out and Jedidah fell slack, the bullet planting perfectly between his eyes. She fell back against the grass still fresh with the morning dew due to blood loss.
She shakily moved her hand to her wound, applying a bit of pressure with what strength she had left to slow down the bleeding. Her head fell to the side, to her brother's limp body, his cold lifeless eyes staring back at her.
She felt her own eye begin to sting but didn't let any tears fall. He made his choice and she made hers. She refused to die crying over someone who did give two shits about her.
Y/n's eyes snapped open, she looked down to see an IV and a heart monitor connected to her hands. When she looked over to her right she could see Wanda reading a book on the chair next to her bed and Peter leaning his head against Mj's shoulder with drool running down his chin.
"I'm getting a bad case of deja vu."
Wanda's eyes snapped to Y/n "You're an idiot." she said throwing her book at Peter to wake up.
Peter jumped right up "I'm up Aunt May." then he looked around noticing his surroundings "Oh hey you're alive."
"Surprise." she laughed "Nice to see you again Mj. I think I've been in here more time than you guys combined."
Wanda gave her a playful glare "Maybe if you stop doing stupid things and just ask for help maybe, just maybe we could have avoided all of this."
"Yeah, yeah." she rolled her eyes "I get it, I'm an idiot." Y/n moved to get up but stopped halfway, staring down at the sheets
"What's wrong?" Wanda asked.
She directed her worried gaze to Wanda "I can't feel my legs."
Wanda and Peter jumped up quicker than she's ever seen someone move before with a worried look on their faces.
Y/n began to laugh "I'm just fucking with you."
Wanda pushed her over with a look of annoyance on her face "I can't believe you." she shrieked "I'm going to let you get dresses before I strangle you."
Y/n fake gasped "You wouldn't dare."
She shrugged "Accidents happened."
All three of them began to get up and move to the door, Mj turned to her "I'm glad you aren't dead."
"Thank ya darling." she winked.
As soon as they left, Y/n let the smile fall from her face and she pushed herself up off the bed. When getting up she caught a glimpse of herself in the window. Her hair was matted, there were dark bags under her eyes, her lips were dry and cracked. She pretty much looked like she had been dragged through hell and back.
She stripped off the hospital gown carefully making sure to avoid the bandages and put on the shorts and loose shirt Wanda has brought her on. Y/n pulled up her shirt and peeled back the bandage a bit, she poked at it wincing. The fucker got her good.
Y/n began to limp over to the door, she knew she wasn't even supposed to be on bed rest for a week but she couldn't stand to be in that room a moment longer.
When she opens the door to her surprise she sees bucky pacing back and forth in the hallway. He stops when he sees her, their eyes meet, she stopped breathing not moving an inch.
He took a step toward her, before she got a chance to speak Bucky put both of his hands on both sides of her face and brought her lips to his. Y/n didn't hesitate for one second to wrap her arms around his neck pulling him closer.
Their lips moved in sync, bodies molded together as close as they possibly could get. It was nice for someone to hold her, nice to know someone cared for her.
They both called a part of breath a red tint lit up His face, Y/n gasped and pinched his cheek "Is the Bucky Barnes blushing?"
He groaned burying his face in her neck "You don't know how long I've wanted to do that for."
He pulled away a bit "I want to apologize—."
But she placed her hand over his mouth before he could continue "Look I get it, we both said things we didn't mean. You were upset because I didn't tell you and I had a lot of stress from everything going on in my life. We shouldn't have acted the way we did, I'm sorry and I know you are also."
He pulled her into another quick kiss "I'm sorry and I'll never stop showing you just how sorry am. I care for you deeply and I never want something to come between us again. No matter how bigger small. Alright?"
she gave him a soft smile "I think I can agree to that."
_
Wanda and Vision's lips meet, everyone began to cheer and clap. They were officially married. Wanda's long auburn hair was neatly woven into a braid, her dress was a beautiful white gown with lace sleeves and glittery sequence. Vision was wearing a suit with his cape- which he had insisted on wearing. A little weird if you asked her, but it wasn't her wedding so who was she to judge?
They decide to just have a lowkey wedding at the compound with close family, friends, and a government official here and there just to keep in good relations with. Wanda pulled away and faced the crowd "Time for drinks."
A few people- mainly Tony- pumped their hands in the air causing her to chuckle. She took Buckys arm as he led her to where the reception was being held.
"I'm going to get a drink, you want one?"
She shook her head "I'll wait here."
He kissed her cheek and headed over to the bar, she caught Wanda's eye and Wanda wiggled her eyebrows suggestingly. They held each other's eyes in a staring contest until someone tapped on her shoulder breaking her concentration.
She turned around to see a man, he looked oddly familiar but she just couldn't place it. "Dr. Y/l/n it's good to see you again." the man smiled.
Then it hit her, it was Nathan from her birthday gala, she almost didn't recognize him without his smile. She narrowed her eyes at him "You."
"It seems you're doing well."
"Cut to the chase, what do you want?"
"It's not about what I want, it's about what he wanted. Here I have something for you." He looked around the room.
Before she could ask what he meant he handed her an envelope, she observed the envelope until the sealing wax caught her eye, the Mark of Cain. When she looked back up she noticed Nathan was gone, what a sneaky little spy.
Not caring where she was Y/n ripped open the envelope, it wasn't until she noticed the handwriting that she stopped. Her breath caught in her throat and the room felt 10x hotter. She swallowed thickly and began to read.
Dear Lilith,
If you are reading this, that means unfortunately I'm dead. Or fortunately depending on the matter of perspective. It was truly a shame that I didn't get my last years on this planet with you, but I'm glad I died knowing you were alive. Most Fathers longed for a son but from the moment I laid eyes on you, I knew you were something special, I knew you were destined for great things.
I must admit I don't know why you left, but I don't blame you for leaving my dear Lilith. I never could. I never did tell you the reason I had chosen the name, or not the true reason anyway. It was after your mother, Elizabeth. The name I had given her after we had met. I could see the same very spark in you that she had in her. When it came time to choose your name for initiation, you stood in front of all those men not daring to back down and barely even flinched when the hot metal pressed against your skin, I couldn't help but mutter out her name.
Losing your mother was the greatest pain I had ever experienced, it ripped my very soul in half. And after I had thought you passed the same exact feeling had passed over again. Though I wouldn't wish upon that pain on anyone, I do hope one day you find as great as love as your mother and I once had.
Time is running out and though it is bittersweet, I must say goodbye. I don't know what comes beyond death but I do hope it includes your mother. I would spend eternity in torture just to get one last look at my beloved. Though I never said it to you, I do love you, always have, always will. It's time to spread your wings my little Lilith, soar high in the sky, and never let anyone tare you down. Just know whenever you stare up at the stars, your mother and I will be watching.
Y/n stood there frozen. she felt two strong arms wrap around her waist "Why are you crying?"
She hadn't even noticed, wordlessly she handed Bucky the letter and used her other hand to wipe her face. When Bucky was done reading he turned her around and pulled her into a proper embrace.
Her arms were wrapped around him tightly not daring to let go "God, he was such a piece of shit." She sniffed "So why does his death this bad?"
He rubbed her back in a comforting matter "We can't choose who we love, and no matter how much you hated him it's going to hurt. He and your brother were all you knew for more than half of your life and now they're both gone. I cant imagine sweetheart."
Though it was supposed to be comforting, it just made her cry harder, from losing her father to killing her brother, the stress, she cried about everything. She had gone through so much and it was all done, though nothing would wash all the pain away for once in her life she knew she was truly safe.
She pulled away and wiped her nose "Sorry I haven't cried since- well ever."
Bucky smiled "It's okay, I'm glad you let it all out."
Y/n looked at him again "Are you sure you want to do this? I mean us? There's just so much with me to unpack I wouldn't blame you for walking away."
"I want you." He said, "I want all of you."

All That Glitters is Not Gold (part 19)

Bruce stuck the needle on the inside of her right arm and slowly began to draw blood. He filled up several tubes of both her and Natashas blood.
Y/n wasn't sure why he needed the blood— she was in her office when FRIDAY had asked if she could come down into his lab. When she got down there she had noticed him taking Natashas blood and he told her to take a seat.
Bruce pressed down a cotton pad and taped over the medical tape on top of it. "Do you have all you need?" She asked rolling down her sleeve to her shirt.
"Yes, thank you." He said "Can uh- can you ladies stay down here until I'm finished. I just want to see something."
"I don't mind," Natasha said and Y/n nodded at him in agreement.
She swung her feet back and forth as she would back when she was a child. Bruce's office was nice, it had a calming aspect— which made sense considering the big green guy could just pop out at any moment.
Half of his office was covered by floor-length grass which if you were to peak through you'd be able to see the forest surrounding the compound. There were tons of cabinets and laboratory equipment that were neatly set on the counters.  Most of the room was in a cool blue color that went nicely with the white in the room.
Bruce was on the other side of the room bent forward looking through a microscope. There were several different holograms that popped up next to him looking at god knows what.
Y/n closed her eyes and leaned against the wall behind her, her back hurting from sitting hunched over on the desk. She let out a sigh.
"Long day?" Y/n opened her eyes to see Natasha staring back at her with her arms crossed leaning against the wall.
She snorted "Try long year."
Nat gave her an understanding look "It gets easier."
"I hope so. What about you, life beating you down with a pogo stick too?"
Natasha's lip twitched "I have a mission today which kind of sucks but then again nice because we haven't been getting much action lately. And lonely but that just comes with being an avenger."
Y/n raised an eyebrow "What about you and Steve? You guys seemed to be cozied up at my birthday gala." She remembered Natasha and Steve dancing when she was dancing with Peter.
"We flirt now and again but nothing will ever come of it. What about you and Bucky, you guys seemed close? Have you talked?" She asked fully turning to Y/n.
She sighed "No, Things are— it's complicated."
"Do you love him?"
Y/n's eyes flickered to the wall beside Natasha "I don't know how to love."
Natasha placed a hand on her arm "Listen, babe, I'm not going to pretend I know what you went through but speaking from experience, it does get better. It may not seem like it now. Plus how much worst could it get when you've already been through hell."
There's always something more to lose, though she didn't say that, instead she squeezed the hand on her arm and said "I sure do hope so."
Natasha let go of her arm just as Bruce had gone over to them. He slid off his gloves and tossed them in the trash a few feet away and pushed his glasses up with his index finger before he began to speak.
"Remember how you took those tests last week—well, anyways as you know your results were way above average, and I remember you telling us about a few of your past injuries and that got me thinking. I drew both your and Natasha's blood and compare them and the chemical compounds were nearly identical. Your cells were more durable and your healing factors were faster than normal."
Natasha looked over to Y/n expectantly " do you have the super-soldier serum? I know they gave me a variation of one in the red room."
She shook her head while picking at her nails "No I uhh- I just meditate."
Bruce raised an eyebrow looking at her like she was crazy "You meditate." He stated though it sounded more as though it was a question.
"Yep." She shrugged.
He hummed and turned to Natasha.
_
Y/n stepped into the room, the Avengers were crowded in a group all watching a man through the window at the front of the room.
She was in her office when FRIDAY had told her to go down to the third floor, apparently, there was another room right next to the shooting range but she didn't even know existed— and now that she was in there, her guess would be it was the interrogation room.
She walked over to the group to see what they were looking at "You guys asked for me." She said.
Steve cleared his throat "We found him trying to break into the compound. We want to ask him some questions but he speaking Latin and since nets away on the mission you're the only hope we have."
Y/n hummed, taking the chance to finally look at them. The man was tied to the chair with his hands behind his back, his shirt was removed and he was coated in a layer of sweat. He had short buzz blonde hair and his pale body was littered with scars— One particularly catching her eye, with a closer look she recognized the scar or rather the brand.
"That's one of my father's men." She said, not bothering to turn around to them.
"Are you sure?" Steve asked, his voice seemed almost hesitant.
"Yep, look at his shoulder— he had the branding." She did have to admit it was an odd placement for the branding but to each their own.
Wanda sighed "Well that's just great."
"This is going to be harder than we thought," Steve added.
Y/n ran her hands down her shirt smoothing out imaginary wrinkles "Don't worry, I'll get him to talk alright."
She began to walk toward the door to enter the room what stopped when she felt a metal hand grab her upper arm, it's a jolt all around her body and butterflies begin to irrupt in her stomach— if she wasn't a trained assassin she probably would've blushed. Her head immediately whipped around and she met Bucky's gaze.
"Avengers don't torture people." His gruff voice said. it sent another wave of butterflies even though he said something she didn't want to hear at the moment. It was the first time they had been in the room since the sparring incident last week and she would reluctantly admit that she had thought about the moment more than a few times.
Y/n ripped her arm away putting the needed distance between them"Well, good thing I'm not an Avenger."
She got to the door and twisted the nob, right before she entered she turned just to spite him and said "Oh and you might want to look away, it tends to get a little bloody."
Was it petty? Yes. Was it a lie? Also yes. But she never did admit to being perfect.
She stepped into the room, the man's case snapped up from the floor fixed on her. She watched his lip twitch "Lilith." He breathed "Ego te exspectat." (I've been expecting you.)
"tu autem?" She said smoothly without missing a beat (Have you now?)
"Immo, et dicere habeo honoratum esse coram te." He relaxed in his chair. (Oh yes, and I have to say, I'm honored to be in your presence.)
"Id modo facile utrique nostrum cur non sumus? Libet vitare questus nuntius si possemus." (Let's just made this easy for both of us why don't we? I'd like to avoid getting messy if we could.)
"Nolo me laedere, oh non deliciae. Venio nuntium afferens." This time he lets himself smirk. (You would want to hurt me, oh no darling. I've come bearing news.)
That peaked Y/n's interest, she took a few steps forward, the bottom of her heels clicking against the cement floor. To the Avengers it would look like she was getting closer to intimidate him, but in reality, she was trying to block their view of the man.
"Noli dicere." She raised an eyebrow (do tell.)
"Pater tuus est, mortuus est." (it's your father, he's dead)
That made her paused, her body going unnaturally still "Venisti mihi dicere? Mentiris." (You came to tell me that? You're lying.)
"verum est. Cum invenerit, Hoc te vivimus, quare putas eum populum post te et non ipsum misisse? quia aeger erat." He said coldly (It's true. When he found out you were alive why do you think he sent people after you and not come himself. Because he was sick.)
"Iras ultoresque mihi narrare subisti. Quare? Ad me stultus sonat." (You risk the wrath of a bunch is to tell you this. Why? To me you just sound stupid.)
"Prorsus scio quod dedi ut hic." He snapped "Moriens votum patris tui fuit" (I know exactly what I risked being here.) ( It was your father's dying wish.)
Y/n didn't know what to say— she knew he had it coming but no matter how much you prepare for something it still can shock you.
The man continued "ad funera crastina, si respectum reddere voles." (The funeral is tomorrow if you wanna pay respects.)
Though she had no respects to pay she did have another idea. "Et vide quid possum facere de questus vestri dimissi." She said. (I'll see what I can do about getting you released.)
The man raised an eyebrow as if to say he knew exactly what she was thinking about. "Good luck." He said with a heavy accent.
She rolled her eyes before she turned around. Stepping back into the room with the avengers they were all looking at her expectantly "Did you get any information?" Steve asked.
"No, nothing of use." She lied straight through her teeth " but I can send you the translated script later."
"I would appreciate it." He said. She nodded while giving him a tight-lipped smile.
_
It was 4 am and the sun still wasn't quite up, Y/n somehow manage to slip into the armory without alerting FRIDAY. The light was already turned on but she didn't think anything of it.
She began to move up and down the wall slipping her choice of weapons into her suit. Earlier that morning she had dug out the old suit that she used to use for missions and by some miracle, it still fit.
When she was about to tuck her last knife in she heard a noise behind her. She whipped her head around but stooped at the sight- across the room stood a frozen Peter with a blue popsicle halfway in his mouth. That explained why the light was on.
She let out an airy laugh thankful it was just him "What are you doing in here? Isn't it past your bedtime?"
Peter scowled and quickly pulled the popsicle out of his mouth. "I just woke up not too long ago. And ill have you know I don't have a bedtime anymore."
Y/n held up her arms in mock surrender "Don't you have school?"
"I do but today is Mj's birthday and I wanted to plan something special for her."
That made her smiled, he was such a sweet kid "You're too adorable." She walked over and pinched his cheeks.
He swatted her hands away and grumbled "Thanks."
Y/n grabbed her bag off the bench where she left it "Hey do me a favor and don't mention to anyone I was in here, yeah?"
He raised an eyebrow "Assasin business?"
She gave him a warm smile "Something like that."
Y/n pulled up to where the funeral was being held, she had called around the day before and had easily found it. She put her car in park and ran a hand over her face, what she was about to do was reckless but it had to be done. It was now 7 and the sun was level with her eyes.
She grabbed her phone while stepping out of the car and a notification from Bucky popped up. Hey, are you up? and another a few minutes later Can we talk? I want to tell you sorry in person rather than over text.
Y/n felt her cheek twitch but rather than replying she took her phone, dropped it to the gravel road, and stomped on it, smashing the screen into pieces. She couldn't risk them tracking her.
She traveled down the slight hill, she stayed back along the trees making her not to draw attention to herself. It was toward the end of the funeral in which she caught her brother's eye. He gave her a deadly glare and she simply just lifted her eyebrow tempting him. It probably wasn't a good idea but she didn't care much.
When the crowd began to thin out that's when Y/n made her way over to him, a few people shooting her dirty looks on the way.
When she reached him her brother was staring down at their father on one side of the coffin while she was standing at the other side. "I knew you would come. I was banking on it actually."
She hummed "It doesn't have to be this way Jedidiah."
He brought his gaze up to her "Oh but dearest, it does." He said as he extended his arm throwing a pocket knife at her.
She turned her head just in time narrowly avoiding it. Y/n grabbed one of the guns out of her thigh holster and began to fire rounds of bullets at him, Jedidiah dropped and rolled behind the coffin for cover. She did have to admit as for how old he is, he still moves pretty well.
She chucked the gun to the side when it ran out of bullets. Jedediah charged at her with a knife swiping side to side trying to cut her, she grabbed his wrist and twisted it sideways causing him to drop the knife on the floor.
She grabbed another one of her guns but before she got the chance to fire he kicked it out of her hand and it flew a few feet away. She threw a few punches which he all blocked and did a spinning roundhouse kick which he ducked under.
Jedediah attempted to grab her but she quickly slid under his arm and kicked him in the back causing him to stumble forward of it. That made him furious and he quickly looked around and began throwing a number of combinations of punches one particularly hard one hit her face stunning her.
He took the chance to swipe her feet and she fell to the floor but taking Buckys move from last week, she hooked her feet around his ankles and pulled him down with her. They rolled around fighting for dominance until Jedediah grabbed one of his knives and plunged it into her stomach.
He twisted it around causing her to growl in pain. She clawed at his arm trying to get him to stop. Quickly she snapped her head forward, making her head connect with his nose. He's jerked backward with blood beginning to trickle out of his nose.
Y/n caught sight of the gun that he had kicked out of her hand earlier and weakly reached for it. With shaky and she slowly raised the gun. she set her finger familiarly on the trigger.
"See you in hell mother fucker."

All That Glitters is Not Gold (part 18)
Summary: Y/n gets hired to be the avengers chief physician and also happens to be an ex assassin.
Word Count: 3k
Warnings: Swearing.
A/N: Officially 100 days since I posted the first chapter… it’s crazy! Also I’m getting surgery on my wrist so the last chapter might not be a little late.

"So he just tried to kill you? I'm guessing your asshole of a father didn't know." Matt said over the phone.
"Yep." She said, "He doesn't even know he tried to blow me up the first time, he just thought one day I just decided to up and leave."
"Are you ever going to tell him? I mean if you ever got the chance too?"
Y/n gave it a few seconds of thought putting her phone between her shoulder and ear  "No I guess not, it worked out more in my favor even though it was an asshole move. Have you heard from old man stick?"
"No, he's been MIA lately. Though I can't tell if that's a good or bad thing." Matt had told her Stick has been around causing him trouble lately. She didn't know why he chose now to come around after so many years but she had enough to worry about, that she didn't care,
She snorted "That old bastard is always up to something."
"Tell me about it." She heard him whisper something to someone on the other side of the phone "Hey Foggy is here so I have to go. If Jedediah caused any more trouble call me yeah?"
Y/n hummed noncommittally and took a bite of her sandwich.
"I'm serious Y/n."
"Yeah, yeah." She rolled her eyes.
"Love you." He said.
She smiled, knowing he only says it when he's worried about her "Love ya too." She grabbed her phone and hung up.
Y/n leaned against the kitchen counter finishing the rest of her sandwich. It wasn't her ideal type of meal but it was either that or grilled cheese— and she had already had about 5 of those in the past two weeks.
Things had gone better than expected during the meeting, so she hadn't been doing much the last couple of days.
She put her dish in the sink and decided to go up to her office.
She stepped into her office and opened the curtain allowing a bit of natural light in. It still looked the same from when she had last been in there a month ago.
The only difference was now that Alpine was laying on top of her desk licking her paws.
Y/n could never figure out how she got into there, especially after she continuously locked the door.
Maybe Alpine was an elite assassin.
She would take after her mother.
Y/n sat in her chair, there hadn't been many missions lately so that caused her not to have to be in the Medbay.
It was going for the health of the Avengers but bad considering her job was being a doctor. She didn't even have paperwork— the SHIELD inter nurses did it for her.
It was times like these when she was alone and had nothing to do that she would get into her mind.
What she could have done differently, what she, what she didn't do— it was just like her mind just spiraled.
But what she really didn't get was why her dad didn't come after her. He usually wasn't the type of person to get other people to do his work— he was literally the definition of if you want something done right you have to do it yourself.
And obviously, no one could do it right considering she was still sitting in the Avengers tower.
A knock on the door caused her to snap out of her thoughts. She looked up to see Steve leaning against the door to the hallway.
She noticed her leg was bouncing and she put her hand on it to stop "What can I do for you, Captain Rogers?" She smiled.
Steve had his usual light expression on his face "Me and the team have a proposition for you, but you don't have to agree only if you want to."
Y/n raised an eyebrow for him to continue "We collectively came to a decision and think it would be a good idea for you to take the shield level entrance test. We just want to get a feel for what your strengths are and—"
"And see how dangerous I am." She finished for him
Steve scrunched up his face "I wasn't going to say that."
"I'm only saying what you're thinking." She stated simply.
"You don't have to if you're uncomfortable."
She shrugged "Might as well, I don't see any harm."
Steve clasped his hands together "Great, we'll meet you downstairs, in let's say 30 minutes."
"Sounds good."
Steve turned and left, while she let her head fall against her desk letting out a groan. She knew what they were trying to do and frankly she didn't blame them.
What she would do for a day in bed.
_
Y/n walked on to the Avengers private floor they used for training. She had stopped by her room to change and now she was wearing leggings and a sports bra.
She could see Steve, Natasha, Peter, Tony, Bruce, and Bucky standing in the weight room talking.
She walked over and joined them "So what's first?"
Natasha turned to her wearing an outfit very similar to hers with her hair tied back "First we are going to test endurance— so hop on." She said motioning toward the treadmill.
Y/n stepped on making sure her shoes were tied. She didn't want to fall on her face after taking a few steps.
Natasha spoke again "We are going to start slow but the speed will increase as you continue running. FRIDAY will track your vitals and when you feel as though you can take any more press stop and we'll be done. Ready?"
She let out a sigh "Ready as I'll ever be."
Natasha pressed a button and the treadmill began to move. She started in a slow-paced jog at about 3mph, she stared forward making sure not to lose focus and tripping over her feet.
After another couple of minutes, the pace slightly quickened, and so forth.
She felt the familiar burn in her lungs, all while pumping her hands and legs. Her feet hit the treadmill in the perfect rhythm.
She made sure to breathe through her nose and out through her mouth to prevent her from having stomach cramps.
She made sure to not clench her hands so she would use up any energy then she felt was necessary.
FRIDAY voice broke over the room "Alert heartbeat approached 200 bpm. Emergency stop in effect. Repeat, emergency stop in effect."
The treadmill began to slow down forcing Y/n to slow down with it. When it finished, she bent over breathing heavily putting her hands on her knees. Someone handed her water which she assumed to be Peter.
She sat on the floor and ripped off the cap and began to drink the water not caring if she was getting it all over her.
"How fast was that?" Bruce asked holding a clipboard.
Natasha looked over at the machine and whistled  "15 approaching 16mph— damn girl you're fast. Especially for not working out in a while."
Y/n smiled "It was what I was born to do." Literally
"So why did I have to stop?"
"Any heart rate above 185 bpm is dangerous," Steve informed her.
Tony stuck at a hand toward Y/n, she grabbed it and he pulled her up. "What's next?" She asked.
Everyone looked toward Steve expectantly and he ran a hand through his hair "Either gun range or decisions and quick thinking."
She decided to stick with what she knew "Gun range."
They stepped into the gun range, she had never been in there before— mostly being she never had a reason to.
The room was huge compared to most other ranges she had been to. The walls were full of any guns and weapons someone could ever even think of. They even had a machine gun, though she couldn't imagine what for.
Tony handed them all safety glasses and noise-canceling headphones.
Steve walked over to the wall looking over to Y/n "Any preferred weapon or weapons you'd like to use?"
She shrugged "Doesn't matter to me."
Steve nodded turning back toward the wall. He grabbed a wide variety of guns and ammunition while walking up and down the walls, putting them on a cart.
When he was finished he wheeled the cart over to Y/n, first handing her a pistol "Well have you start with a .22 and make your way up." He said.
Y/n took the gun, sliding the clip in. She clicked off the safety, cocking the gun back. She let herself fall into a position extending her arms out, her grip was loose yet tight enough to make sure she would have full control over the gun at all times.
She lined the barrel of the gun up with the closet target, she swiftly squeezed the trigger allowing 10 shots to ring out all hitting their marks.
She put the gun back on the cart, picking up another one to take its place. She repeated these steps several times with different pistols, SMGs, and ARs.
When she was finished she turned to them with her easy-going expression "Is that it?"
"You haven't tried out any snipers yet," Peter said.
"We weren't going to have you do that if you didn't want to," Natasha said giving him a pointed look.
How thoughtful. "May I?" Y/n asked gesturing toward the wall.
"Be our guest."
Y/n turned walking down the long wall of rifles. She had worked with most of them on the wall but she didn't like it a lot. Most of them she considered being shitty.
Near the end, a black rifle caught her eye. It already had a scope screwed on and the steel glistened against the fluorescent light. She ran her finger along with it. It was a Barrett M95 with a 7 NightForce ATACR scope— or to put it simply, she had never seen something sexier in her entire life.
She used both hands to gently lift the rifle from off of its designated spot on the wall. She walked over and set the sniper on the long counter that ran across the room, propping the legs out.
She could feel Bucky's gaze burning into the back of her head. She knew back in the 40s he was a sniper for the 47th, and from the heat of his stare, she assumed the rifle she grabbed was his.
Y/n squat and positioned herself. She let the butt of the mold into her shoulder as she pushed the singular bullet into the chamber. She cocked the bolt handle forward allowing it to slide the bullet into place.
She closed one eye, peaking through the scope letting out a sigh. It was scary how natural this felt to her. "I'm ready when you guys are." She said.
She heard the machine power up before the frisbee shot out. She watched as it flies across the room, she took a deep breath while tracking it with her scope, when the frisbee hit its peak, Y/n squeezed the trigger.
She felt the kickback of the gun harshly hit her shoulder as the bullet traveled across the room quickly, hitting the frisbee dead center causing the plastic to explode everywhere.
She set the rifle down turning back around to face the group. "Now it's time for decisions and quit thinking, and then our last thing for the day— sparring," Natasha said.
Collectively as a group, we all move to the next room right next to the gun range. Tony began to hook her up to a machine that looked a lot like something you'd wear in laser tag. She wore it like a vest but there were wires connected to her pules points.
Tony handed her a gun that was connected to a string. "So what am I exactly supposed to do."
Steve spoke up "It's essentially an obstacle course, well show you a couple of targets to remember and you'll go around the course searching for them. You want to shoot them before they shoot you because let me tell you, it doesn't feel good."
"Sounds easy enough." She said as the tv next to them flashed with a combination of different people.
"Make sure not to hit any civilians because that doesn't feel too good either. Watch your surroundings also, the people you least expect will be the deadliest."
Y/n nodded in confrontation as she strapped her VR goggles securely around her head. The VR flashed a 5-second count down and then she was off.
She began to slowly move toward keeping her gun pointed out in front of her. She weaved in between holographic people searching for her targets.
She spotted her first-person, a short lady with green eyes and with her hair wrapped up securely in a ponytail. Y/n squeezed the trigger five times before the hologram disappeared.
She quickly pressed the button to reload the gun and was on the move once again. As she got deeper into the course the more terrain she had to jump through.
She saw her next target, this time it was a tall male with shaggy red hair. The man began to run causing her to have to chase after him. She jumped, slid, and rolled over and past things so she would avoid them.
Finally after rolling under a pole, when she popped back up she got a clear shot of the man and squeezed the trigger.
A message on the screen popped up showing that she only had one target left but it didn't show the person's face.
Y/n began to search the crowd looking for the last one. She didn't spot anyone out of the ordinary and no one looked suspicious.
When she turned the corner that's when she noticed a pregnant woman, the woman reached out behind her presumingly to pull out a gun so Y/n didn't hesitate to squeeze the trigger.
The woman disappeared and a message popped up saying the end. She yanked off the headset and walked back over to the avengers handing Tony the equipment back.
"You did good sunshine," Tony said.
Y/n smiled "Thank you."
"How did you know the last woman was a target? What if she was just taking a stretch?" Steve asked.
She pursed her lips "Well, I didn't. She could have easily been a civilian, but assuming someone innocent doesn't mean they are. That just wasn't a risk I was willing to take."
"Fair enough." Natasha said patting Y/n on the back "And for the last stop of the day— the sparring room."
Y/n knew where to go this time considering she had been there plenty of times to train Peter.  She kicked off her shoes when she stepped off the mat.
Steve also stepped onto the mat facing Y/n "Me and you will go first and then you and Bucky can go after."
She felt her heart flip at the mention of his name but she simply just nodded. Facing each other Steve and Y/n both lowered down into their fighting positions.
She knew Steve wasn't going to strike first considering all the times she had watched him spar so she decided to do him the favor and lunge at him.
She threw two punches of which he both blocked, when Steve threw a punch she ducked under his arm stepping around his back.
Y/n attempted to swipe his feet but due to his super soldier and quick reflexes, he quickly jumped over her leg.
The fight went on like this for a while. When Steve threw another punch Y/n saw an opening, she swiftly stepped on his leg bring herself up onto his shoulder. She wrapped her legs around his neck and swing them both down to the floor.
When they hit the floor she made sure to keep her thighs wrapped around his neck. She grabbed one of his arms bringing it up toward her, cutting off his air supply. After a few seconds, he tapped on her thigh signaling he tapped out.
She let him go and they both got up onto their feet "Good job." He said getting off the mat.
Y/n just gave him a tight-lipped smile as she watched Bucky walk in front of her. They both lowered into their stances without saying a word.
She had to clench her fist to prevent her hands from shaking, she had a feeling Bucky wasn't going to go east on her.
She and Bucky both began to circle one another around the mat, waiting to see who would attack first.
Bucky went first throwing her a right-handed punch, she threw up her left arm to block. Y/n threw a punch and he blocked— and so the fight began.
They both threw and took punches neither one wanting to lose to the other— Y/n because of her competitive nature and Bucky... well, she didn't quite know why he wanted to win. Her guess was it was something along the same lines as her.
Y/n did a spinning quick to which Bucky rolled under. She had to admit he was one of the better fighters that she had ever fought. Most likely because of his winter soldier days.
She could never figure out why he never actually tried when the team went on a mission because she felt like that it would have made them a hell of a lot shorter.
She got a punch to his face that momentarily shocked him, she grabbed his arm twisting it around his back, right as she was about to push him to the ground he hooked his legs around hers bringing them both to the floor.
Before Bucky got the chance to pin her to the ground she flipped them around pinning both of Bucky's arms above his head.
She stared down at him and he stared back up at her. She knew he could've easily overpowered her and got out but he didn't.
The moment was ruined when Natasha said "10 seconds, you won Y/n."
Y/n quickly pushed herself off of Bucky not daring to look back at him. "That's all for today," Steve said.
Y/n nodded and quickly left the room. Why did feelings hurt so bad?

Y/n sat against her bed petting Alpine while Tony leaned against the wall. He had come up there to tell her that there was a debriefing.
It had been about a week since Wanda's disastrous wedding, and Y/n had barely been out of her room since except to train Peter— though it took a lot of convincing on his part.
Tony had been by to visit her a couple of times along with Wanda. She didn't think she could handle facing the Avengers.
They all probably hated her. She didn't want to see the look of disappointment on their faces.
Especially what had happened with Bucky.
"Come on Sunshine, I can't stand to watch you like this. You haven't been outside in a week and we are all starting to miss you. Just tell them what happened and I'm sure they will understand."
Y/n sighed "I'm just so tired of this, of everything. It's like I can't catch a break for anything. I don't want to do this anymore, I hate my dad for what he put me through."
"That's why I think they will understand. They all also have gone through some shit. No one blames you for not tell everyone. I've would have done the same thing."
"Yeah well, what Bucky told me the other day says otherwise."
Y/n felt her stomach twist whenever she thought about him. She didn't know why. He had a right to be angry but then again so did she.
They were both in the wrong that day, but she wasn't going to be the one to apologize. Her pride wouldn't allow it.
Or what was left of it anyway.
"Don't mind him, he's a grouchy old man. Plus he killed my parents and didn't tell me about it, if anything you guys are even on the lying scale."
She let out an airy laugh "Fine I'll go. But if I run out of the room crying that's on you."
"I'll accept full responsibility." He winked. Tony turned and left, leaving Y/n alone to her thoughts.
Y/n let her body fall back against the bed. She knew she would have to face them eventually but it didn't make it any easier.
Would they look at her with disgust?
She knew Natasha was also an assassin. But she felt like it was different because she was in the red room.
She was probably just being dramatic and overreacting but this was really the first time in her life she had cared what other people thought. How other people felt.
And if she was being honest it felt like shit.
She wouldn't necessarily say being an emotionless killing machine is better, but she never knew feeling things could hurt so bad.
Alpine nudged her face with her nose, Y/n turned more and scratched her head "What am I going to do Alpine."
Her response was to began purring. Y/n sat up in the bed and frowned— it's Not like she expected a response from a cat, she wasn't that crazy... yet.
_
Y/n stood outside of the conference room. She was giving herself a mental pep talk, whispering words of encouragement to herself.
It was a little pathetic but she didn't care. No one was there to judge her anyway, and if there was she would just rip their fingers off and poke out their eyes with it.
She was kidding— kind of.
She knew she couldn't put it off any longer, so she forced her legs to move and she stepped into the room.
She walked to the middle of the room, immediately everyone went quiet and all eyes snapped their attention toward her.
"Hey, guys." She croaked awkwardly.
No one said any, Y/n rubbed the back of her arm uncomfortably "I don't really know where to began." She laughed humorlessly.
"How about from the beginning," Wanda said, with a small smile on her face.
She could see Tony sitting across the room from her giving her an encouraging thumbs-up.
Y/n cleared her throat, by beginning she assumed not her being birthed and the beginning of her becoming an assassin.
"Well, um, let's see. I guessed it started with my dad. when he was younger, he was trained like me and my brother by his father. And his father, father before him. My family founded a group of assassins— though they are more like mercenaries than anything else."
Right as she was about to continue Clint cut her off "What was your assassin name?"
Natasha jabbed him in the ribs with her elbow "That isn't something you go around asking people."
"No, no, it's okay." Y/n said "Well, I have no official name but the most common one people like to call me is Lilith. As for the organization, we don't have a name, I'm not really sure why. If you want to know if someone is with us they usually have the Mark of Cain."
"Do you have the branding?" Natasha asked.
"I had it."
"What do you mean had?"
Y/n pursed her lips reluctantly she grabbed the hem of her shirt and began to raise it. On her stomach were two long scars crossed in an 'x' and toward her hip was a patch of scarred flesh which was once her branding.
She didn't have to look up from the floor to know they were staring at her with surprised stares. "As you guys know my brother had tried to kill me. But the other day wasn't the first time."
Y/n went on to explain how her brother sent her on a wild goose chase, how he knocked her out and chained her up to a chair. How her left her there when he blew up the warehouse.
"What happened next? Honestly Y/n you're keeping me on the edge of my seat. How did you get out?"
She rolled her eyes but went on to speak anyway "I jumped and forced all of my weight on the chair so the legs would break. And without any other choice, I jumped out of the window."
"How did you survive jumping out of a 3rd story window. Better yet why has your brother tried to kill you, twice." Steve asked, speaking up for the first time.
"To answer your first question, honestly I don't know." She said making sure to keep her eyes on steve and not the person she knew was sitting right next to him.
"And as for my brother trying to kill me, that's slightly more complex. Before my parents had me and my brother my father actually quit the assassin life. He wanted the white picket fence, a nice wife, children, maybe a dog or two, and he had that for a while."
"When you try to leave things in the past they tend to come and bite you in the ass, my father learned that the hard way. When my mother was murdered he spiraled out of control. He went back to the organization more ruthless than he ever was before. He swore to kill anyone and everyone connected to my mother's murder."
"I began training when I was three, my father went harder on us than he did anyone else. I look a lot like my mother, or so my brother tells me— I was too young to remember her. Because of that, my father has always I guess favorited me. He paid more attention to my accomplishments, spent more time with me, and I was even the one he was going to hand off the organization to."
"For the first half of my life my brother was seemingly fine with it, we were really close. But as time went on he started to resent me more and more. When his son was born that's when he decided to get rid of me. I guess he wanted to lead the organization, and honestly, if he asked me I would've let him."
The room was quiet when she finished, Y/n had to resist the urge to pick at her fingers as everyone looked at her.
Wanda was the one to save her once again "How come no one ever knew what you looked like? Like did they ever work with Hydra?"
Y/n shook her head "No, my father didn't like Nazis"
Sam's eyebrows shot up to his forehead "You father didn't like Nazis, but he would let his children become assassins."
She shrugged "He didn't discriminate I guess. Everyone had a price, it's just the matter of finding the right one."
"Has your father ever tried to find you? I imagine he didn't just let you go." Steve asked.
Y/n clasped her hands together "Actually he has, and came close once also. After my brother, he assumed I was dead for several years. But when I got a job here that's when he found out his assumptions were incorrect. Remember girl Tessa, no Tera, Teresa— whatever the hell her name is."
"Anyway, remember how she was one of the best SHIELD agents but suddenly switched to desk duty. She was one of my father's assassins. My guess is he sent her to take me back to him."
"Didn't she try to kill you?" Y/n's eyes snapped to Bucky.
This was the first time he had spoken, he looked back at her with his eyebrows furrowed. She answered him without skipping a beat pretending him speaking to her didn't faze her.
"Only when I tried to kill her." Everyone looked confused so she tried to clear it up "She poisoned the knife with this type of venom that puts you to sleep. She only needed to cut me once to get it into my bloodstream. She thought the poison would work immediately."
"She didn't think I would be able to fight it off long enough that I would be able to do some real damage. But I guess that was a mistake on her part because once she came at me I wasn't going down without a fight. Once she realized only one of us was going to make it out alive that's when she started to fight back."
"I knew she attacked you but I thought it was because we were Avengers. I didn't even question how you won against one of the best agents." Clint said.
Natasha just shook her head "I'm surprised I didn't figure out sooner. All signs pointed to you. You were the one who helped out Bucky and Steve when Hydra attacked weren't you?"
She nodded. "You got thrown across the room by that super soldier and then 10 minutes later you walked into the conference room like nothing happened," Steve said with his eyebrows raised.
"I've dealt with worse." She shrugged nonchalantly.
For the rest of the meeting, the team continued asking Y/n about herself and what she had to go through. They had taken it better than she had ever expected.
Though to be honest she didn't really ever know what to expect from them anymore. They continued to surprise her in the best ways possible.
She knew a lot of them considered her to be family and though she would never admit it she was happy forced her to go down there. He would probably say I told you so and get a bigger head than he already had.
At the end of the meeting everyone began to leave, Bucky and Y/n both walked out of the door at the same time causing them to bump into each other.
Bucky turned toward Y/n, he opened his mouth to say something but right as he was about to speak Sam called his name.
She pressed her lips into a thin line as she watched Bucky jog over to the elevator to meet up with Sam.
Y/n has survived her brother trying to kill her so she would survive this. Just like she did everything else.

The Shadow Thief (part 6)
Summary: What happens when Peter has to work with the girl he hates.
Word Count: 2k
Warnings: Swearing.
A/n: This is late… super late.
Tumblr media
_
Peter knocked on Y/n's door. He heard a bit of shuffling before she called out "Come in."
Peter stepped into a pitch-black room. Even with his enhanced senses, he could barely see in front of him. Not only that but the weird thing to him was that it was 3 in the afternoon.
He could see a light glow on Y/n's face from the hologram they had found searching the house the other day. He walked over closer to her. "Y/n why is it so dark in here?"
Y/n always liked the dark. It was like the shadows called to her. She felt safe, like a warm, secure blanket.
She shrugged "Do you want me to turn on the light?"
He shook his head "No it's fine, have you found anything?"
"Not really— here sit down." She patted the bed next to her.
She reached over and grabbed something off of her nightstand "I forgot after everything that happened, but I found this in the weaponry."
She showed Peter a knife. It was black with gold lines running up it, the gold almost looked like it was alive— like it was moving.
He grabbed it out of Y/n's hand and ran his hand over the shiny metal. The gold seemingly stopped. "Does this seem weird to you— kind of like unnatural?"
She rolled her eyes "Obviously, that's why I grabbed it genius."
He sighed "Where did you find it exactly."
"Well, it was on a desk kind of, like on the opposite side from where I grabbed your spidey stuff, when I picked it up and a video popped up"
"We should go scan it."
"Scan it? With what?"
Peter got off of the bed "Here follow me."
He walked out of the door, she got up and followed him "Is there just a whole different part of this house I didn't know about?"
They stepped into Peter's room, this was the first time she had been in there. This one was the first time she had been in there.
Most times if they had to talk they did it downstairs or in her room— which was technically The Scarlet Witches room— Peter's room was red with several spiders on the wall.
Honestly, it looked like a 3-year-olds room when they told their artistic mother their favorite superhero was Spider-Man. She wondered if he designed it.
"Actually yes there is." He replied.
Peter walked over to his closet, he pressed his hand against the door and a scanner popped up and scanned his hand.
Her eyebrows shot up, he was being serious. Peter stepped through the door and turned back to her "Are you coming?"
She blinked away her shock and stepped through the door— closet— they stepped into an elevator. Peter pressed on a few buttons and they started to move.
The doors to the elevator opened and they stepped into a huge room. Correction huge lab. Y/n stepped closer in, it had everything someone could want.
She turned to Peter and punched him in the arm "Ow! What was that for?"
"Why didn't you tell me about this! Or did you just forget to mention it?"
"I could say the same thing about the knife."
"The knife is one small thing, this is a whole ass other floor."
"Touché." He said and walked away.
Y/n didn't know if she wanted to slap or strangle Peter. But all she knew was she wanted to do something not so nice to him.
He walked to the opposite side of the lab and pulled up a computer. He set the knife a the machine and a light popped.
"You might want to sit down, this is going to take a while," Peter said.
"How long is a while?"
"A few hours maybe. Probably like five."
Y/n grabbed an office chair and practically threw herself in it. Great, great, great, great. She had to sit down here for hours just watching this thing. She knew she didn't have anything better to do, but it didn't help her feel less frustrated.
"What is this even searching for Anyways?"
"Honestly for anything."
Y/n raised an eyebrow for him to continue. He sighed "Like a fingerprint, any DNA, what the knife is made of, the compounds."
Y/n rested her head against the back of the chair and closed her eyes "Oh lame."
"How's your head?"
"That way like two weeks ago, and I'm fine."
"I'm pretty sure you have a concussion and those take like 3 months to heal."
"Yeah, yeah." If she had her eyes open she would be rolling her eyes.
Y/n didn't mind living in the safe house as much as she thought she would. Sure, it would get a little boring at times or she would want to punch Peter in the nose, but it was relaxing having nothing to do.
"The one thing I'm mad about is working on that project with you for a month and we didn't even get to present it." Y/n joked though she was slightly serious.
"I guess we relate with her, having to go into hiding and all."
Y/n twisted up her face "Really do hope that's the similarities end there. You do know how it ends right?"
"Obviously, I'm not an idiot."
"Could've fooled me." She muttered.
Peter gave her a hard glare and leaned against the wall "Let's play 20 questions."
"What are you, 5?"
"Do you have any better ideas?"
Yeah, shutting the hell up, "You start then."
"Fine, I will."
"Great."
"Good."
"Perfect."
"Amazing."
"Ask the damn question, Peter."
He thought for a moment "What's your least favorite thing?"
"You."
"Besides me."
"Spiders."
He sighed "Fine, whatever. Your turn."
"What's your favorite thing?"
"Definitely not you." Now it was Y/n's turn to glare. "Probably being Spider-Man."
She snorted "That's such a heroy thing to say."
"You're the one who asked." She shrugged "Where did you live before New York?"
"Narnia, next question." She answered.
"Favorite color?"
"Black, like my soul. Why did you become a superhero?"
"Well, this is kind of a two-parter. I was on a field trip to Oscorp genetics and I got bit by a spider. Passed out and woke up with abs."
"Cool can I see?"
"My spider bite?"
"No your abs."
He rolled his eyes "Anyways, when I first got my powers I just like to mess around with them, nothing serious I mostly just did it to show off until my uncle got killed by a criminal I couldn't stop."
Y/n sensed it was a sore subject, so instead of saying something comforting like a normal person, she said "Lame, that could have been your villain origin story."
"You're going to be my villain origin story."
"At least that will make you interesting."
"Would you rather be a superhero or supervillain?"
"Easy, supervillain."
"Why though? You could save people, you could be famous." Peter didn't understand her. Honestly, at times she made him want to smash his head repeatedly against a wall.
"You won't get it, you're so good to the point it's sickening."
"Just try."
"Because heroes would save the world no matter the cost, they would chop off their left tit if it meant saving someone. But villains do things they think would make them happy. Or if it's not that, it's revenge of people who have done them wrong."
"So you're a narcissist?"
She laughed "What? No, I don't lack empathy, I don't think I'm better than every else."
"I don't think I'm better than everyone else, because I know I'm better than everyone else." She smiled.
"Whatever. It's your turn." He said seemingly annoyed but she could see him trying to hold back a smile.
"If you could have any other powers besides the ones you have now what would you choose?"
"I would probably pick Dr. Strange. He can open portals and stuff, it's cool and convenient. What about you?"
"This doesn't count as your question by the way, but Wanda Maximoff. Her powers would make it the easiest to take over the world."
"Is that why you chose her room?"
"Honestly I don't why I ended up in her room, it's probably just because it looked the best out of all of them."
"What's your favorite song."
"The Barney theme song. what's the worst nickname you've ever had."
"Penis Parker."
Y/n slapped a hand over her mouth, to keep her laughter from spilling out "God, whoever made that is probably more of a loser than you."
Peter scrunched up his face "I don't know if that's a compliment or an insult."
"Both."
Right as Peter was about to ask his question the machine beeped signaling it was done. Y/n turned to Peter with a questioning look on her face "Should it be done this fast?"
Peter pushed off against the wall he was leaning on and walked over to the machine. Y/n got up and walked over next to him "What does it say?"
"Well, first of the weird thing is that the only fingerprints on it are mine and yours and the second thing is that it's made of vibranium."
"Vibranium, like that metal in Wakanda?"
"Now that I think of it- do you know who the winter soldier is, like have you seen his arm?”
"Yes, I think I've seen it in one of the avenger's press conferences."
"This is what it kind of looks like, I mean with the gold line and all."
Y/n gave it a thought for a second "It could be his, that would explain it not having fingerprints and all."
"Hey, didn't you say when you picked it up a video began to play? What was the video?"
"It was a video of Tony, he only said a few words before the surveillance footage popped."
Peter's eyes went wide "If he left a video we should be able to watch it."
"I thought the compound was on a different network than the safehouse."
"It is, but I can access the things at the compound but the compound cant access anything here."
Peter grabbed the computer and pulled the video up and Tony began speaking "Anyone who watches this SOS. You are in danger. Meet us at the safe house in Maine. We will be there until 8/23." that was the last thing he said before the video ended.
"September 23, that's in two days."
"Do you think we can make it?"
"I wouldn't count on it. Even if we could we would most likely get pulled over and I don't have a license."
"We could take the train. We can book our tickets tonight and tomorrow we could go back to the city."
"Yeah, yeah. That could work." Peter said rubbing his forehead.
"Okay, you book the tickets and I'll go start to pack."
Peter nodded and Y/n walked away. She went up back up the elevator. She pushed open the door and flopped down on the bed.
She felt like she was going to be sick. She didn't want to meet the Avengers, she didn't want to go anywhere near them.
She thought she would have been safe in New York. She thought it was different there. She could run to California. But she felt a twinge a guilt at the thought of leaving Peter behind.
Why did she have a conscience? Why couldn’t she just look out for herself? It would have made everything so much easier.
When she stole it came so easy, but when it came to Peter she felt bad.
He was rubbing off on her. And that scared her.
She would help him get to his friends and then she would go on her own way. That would be the best for the both of them.
“We have to leave here by 10 tomorrow.” Peter said passing her room.
“Okay.” Great, great, great, great.

𝘠𝘰𝘶'𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘮𝘦,
𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘦.
_
Y/n stormed into the quinjet. After leaving the beach she didn't know where to go. What to do. What to think.
Her knees went weak and she had to grip onto the wall for support. Why had she been so stupid and allowed herself to get comfortable? Why did she think things were getting better? There was no happily ever after for people like her.
Could things have gone differently if she had told them the truth? If she had just been honest? Maybe it would have been better if had never taken the job.
No one would have been hurt. She wouldn't have put Peter's life at risk. Her brother would have never found her. Her father would still think she was dead. but she would have never found this... Family.
Was it worth loving someone if that very same love put them in danger?
Y/n slid down the wall, she wrapped her arms around her legs, hugging her knees. Who knows what they thought of her now. Horrendous, insidious, dangerous.
No— she didn't care. It's not like she had a choice in what she did. Though in some fucked up way she still felt like she did.
She bit the inside of her cheek, fighting back tears. She wasn't going to cry over people she's known for 8 months.
She was going to pick herself back up. She was going to survive. Like she had done for her whole life. Like she had always done. Like she would always do.
But why was it so hard?
Why did she feel like she wanted to crawl into bed and never get back out? Why did she want to give up? Why did she feel hopeless?
Y/n felt a presence in front of her, she looked up to see Bucky wearing an expression she couldn't quite decipher.
She let an emotionless expression slide over her face. A mask. Like she had done before she could even spell out her name.
Bucky sucked in a quick breath "You weren't really going to kill that kid, right?" He started, sounding unsure of himself.
"Don't ask questions you don't want the answers to," Y/n stated. She could see him furrow his brows in frustration.
He hesitated "Why didn't you tell me? You knew about me being the winter soldier, you knew my past. So why didn't you just tell me?"
Y/n scoffed, "And what? So we could bond over our shared trauma?"
"What? You don't trust me?"
"I don't trust anyone." That's a lie
"Well, I trusted you."
"That obviously was a mistake." I'm scared to let someone love me.
"Are you serious? You don't think I would have understood? I was tortured for 70 years, used to kill, go on missions, or whatever the hell they pleased. I wasn't allowed to make decisions. I wasn't even allowed to decide when I wanted to take a damn piss." Bucky said, with his voice slightly raised.
"No Bucky I didn't think you would have. And I still think you don't. I was taught to look out for me and only me. I was taught to kill. My instincts are to kill. That's what I was born for. That's all I have known for 3/4th of my life."
Bucky opened his mouth to say something but Y/n cut him off— she wasn't done "I'm not trying to play the trauma Olympics Barnes but, you knew who you were, you had a family. I didn't have a Steve, I didn't have some to care about me—
"I was never a good person and I'm trying to be better. I'm Trying to unteach myself. But goddamit James it's hard. So don't try to compare us when you don't even know the half of it." Y/n was breathing heavily by the time she was done.
Bucky swallowed hard "Do you regret lying to us for so long? Do you even feel bad?" She could see regret flicker through his eyes as soon as he asked.
"Well, I was worried about my brother trying to kill me and my father trying to kidnap me. So I'm sorry if I was a little insensitive to your feelings."
"It's funny how someone can surprise you. I guess I see your true colors now." Bucky said turning out the door.
Y/n pulled her lip in between her teeth and let out a bitter laugh "Yeah, I guess so."
When Bucky left, Y/n let her head fall back against the wall. Did she deserve what was coming her way? Probably. But that didn't make it hurt any less.
They would leave her just like everyone else in her life. Even her father at some point in her life would abandon her. If he couldn't use her she would be kicked to the curb. She didn't blame him. All she was good for was killing. And that's all she would ever be. A killer.
She remembers her first kill like it was yesterday. It was early morning on her 7th birthday. Her brother had woken her up per their father's request. Him being 10 years older she followed him everywhere.
Jedediah wouldn't tell Y/n where they were going, no matter how much she complained. They pulled into a parking lot of what looked to be an abandoned warehouse.
They entered the warehouse and went to the basement to meet their father. When they got to the bottom next to her father was a man tied to a chair. He was fading in and out of consciousness barely looking alive.
Y/n remembered being confused. She didn't know why they were there. She knew she had been training since she could walk. But she didn't know for what. She had thought it was normal and she had never gone to school so she didn't even give it a second thought.
Her father waved her over. She and her brother walked over to him. Her father handed her a gun. Jedediah put up a small protest, saying she was too young, and to wait a few years. But her father quickly silenced him with a look.
Her father walked over to the man and slap him a few times to wake him up. The man looked around confused. When his gaze landed on Y/n his eyes widen.
She was pointing a gun at his head. The man tried pleading with her and started crying. She pulled the trigger without a flinch.
Y/n pushed herself up off of the floor. She wasn't sure how long she had been sitting there since Bucky left. It couldn't have been long. Or at least she hoped.
She used the ends of her fingers to massage her forehead. She turned around when she heard a knock.
At the door was standing Wanda changed back into her normal clothes. Y/n had completely forgotten it was her wedding.
Here she was sitting in the Quinjet feeling sorry for herself when she had just ruined her special day. God, she really was a shitty person.
Y/n rushed over to Wanda "Oh my god Wanda. I am so sorry. I totally understand if you never want to talk to me again or never—"
"Darling it's okay. I have a dead brother, you have an evil one. We can't choose our family." Wanda shrugged cutting her off.
"Wait so you don't hate me?" Y/n asked. To be honest, she sounded pathetic, but she couldn't help it.
"Of course not silly! We are Avengers I expected at least something to go wrong. Unfortunately, it happened to be your brother."
Y/n avoided eye contact as she asked "Did you know? About me being a killer or whatever."
"A victim of an unfortunate life." Wanda corrected "And for your question— yes and no. I sensed you had gone through something but I didn't know exactly."
"I'm sorry for not telling you," Y/n said.
"Don't worry about it." Wanda laughed easily "Can I see." She asked.
Y/n nodded. Wanda grabbed her hands and she opened her mind.
FLASHBACK
Y/n strapped on her thigh holster, knives, guns, Grenades, and other things she may have needed.
Her brother had last minutely informed her of a hit they had to make for their father. That should have been the first red flag.
She gave them all a slight tug to make sure they were secure. She exited the armory and made her way to her father's office.
She walked down the hallway to the front of his office. She knocked on the door, there wasn't a reply so she knocked again. Ending up with the same result, Y/n pushed open the door.
She looked around to find it empty. She frowned, usually before missions she and her father would go over plans just to make sure everything would go smoothly. It was the closest thing they had to a bond.
Y/n closed the door and made sure to lock it so no one else would go in. She walked down the stairs and into the garage to meet her brother.
He was standing next to one of their older cars. She didn't know why because usually during missions he preferred fast driving ones, but she didn't question him and instead walked over to him.
"Hot wheels." Y/n joked stepping into the passenger seat.
Jedediah laughed awkwardly and made his way into the driver's seat "Yeah, I uh, I decided to take this one out for a spin for once."
She just hummed. Jedediah pressed the button to open the garage, he started the car and left their house.
Y/n leaned her head against her hand while looking out of the window. She watched everything pass by quickly.
For some reason the car was tense and she couldn't quite put her finger on it. "So what's the plan?"
"What?" Jedediah asked uptightly.
"The plan? You don't plan to send me in there and get us killed, right?" She raised a teasing eyebrow.
He swallowed and rubbed the back of his neck almost nervously "Plan, right, umm. You'll search the warehouse, while I secure the perimeter. When the target is eliminated we'll meet at our rendezvous."
"Whose our target?" She asked glancing at him.
"I don't know, father wouldn't tell me. Kill whoever resides in the top office. Leave no witnesses, you know the basic."
She gave up. She didn't know why he was acting weird, or why he was lying. The whole point of a mission was knowing who the target was and making sure they didn't make it out alive.
"How's Elijah? He's what, nine by now?" Y/n asked changing the subject.
Elijah was Jedediah's, son. He was born just after Y/n had turn 10. She hadn't met him, she wasn't allowed to. Before he was born Y/n and Jedediah had been really close, having an unbreakable bond. But as the years went on they grew farther and farther apart.
"Just had his birthday." He replied.
"Are you going to bring him into this life?" Y/n blurted out before she could stop herself.
"You know I have to." Jedediah pulled into the parking lot.
When he stopped the car her turn to her "Y/n I'm sorry. Just know I didn't have a choice dearest."
Y/n unbuckled her seat belt, furrowing her brows "Okay?" He nodded at her and she rolled her eyes opening the car door.
She walked over to the warehouse, she pulled out her gun as she walked through the door. When she entered everything was dark.
Everything was dirty and the furniture was flipped over. The warehouse looked to be abandoned. But this was only the first room so maybe it was set up like this to keep people away.
She walked through the next door but it was the same. She checked all around the room but there was no sign of people or even cameras.
Honestly, it looked like someone hadn't been there since before she was born. She was confused but that didn't stop her. She wasn't there to ask questions, she was there to put an end to some poor old bastard's life.
She made her way up to floor through floor ending up with the same result. She looked out one of the broken windows to see the sun had just gone down.
Y/n walked in front of the door to the office. She braced herself before she kicked in the door. When the door blew in her eyes scanned the room.
There was nothing but a chair and a bunch of chains. She was confused. Again. Maybe they had gotten the place wrong?
She heard footsteps behind her which she recognized to be her brother. She didn't think anything of it until something hit her in the back of the head and darkness clouded her vision.
~
Y/n slowly faded back into consciousness. She thought maybe she just had a bad dream, but she noticed she was chained to a chair when she opened her eyes.
There were two long cuts across her stomach forming an 'x'. She was going to bleed out soon if she didn't get it stitched up. Where was her brother? Was he okay? Was he—
When Y/n looked up she could see her brother watching her from across from the room. He was standing in the shadows with a slightly sad look on his face.
"Jedediah why the hell am I chained up?" Y/n asked.
He took a step forward out of the shadows "I meant what I said when I told you I didn't have a choice."
"What the fuck are you talking about? Untie me now, this isn't funny."
Jedediah scoffed "You know exactly what I'm talking about. My son! My son needs a future in this world. And you being here doesn't make it any better."
Y/n's eyes went wide "You're the oldest, Jedediah, it's all yours."
"No, no it's not. Father has always favored you, since the day your pathetic mother gave birth to you. He was going to give you everything, you were his heir, not me. So if I take you out of the equation my son gets everything."
"Are you going to pull out your gun and shoot me?" Y/n asked, disgust laced in her voice.
Jedediah laughed "No of course not. While you were in here on your wild goose chase I took the time to set up c4 all around the warehouse. Set to go off in about 3 minutes." Jedediah stated, walking over to the door.
"So what? You're just going to leave me here?" She screamed.
"I'm sorry dearest."
"No, no don't leave me." She began to shake her restraint arms violently.
Jedediah turned out the door without a second look "You asshole, I hate you. I hate you. I hate you! I hope you burn in hell."
After a while, she gave up. Why would he do this? He was her brother. Never in a million years did she expect him to do this.
That was obviously her mistake. That day, Y/n decided to never allow herself to love someone so she would never get her again.
Wanda looked through all of her childhood memories, her kills, her torture, her torment. When they were done Wanda pulled Y/n into a hug.
When they pulled apart Y/n could see Wanda had a tear in her eye. "I'm so sorry you had to go through that."
"It's okay, it's all in the past." Y/n brushed her off.
"It's not. But in the meantime let's go get you into some new clothes." Wanda said motioning to her torn dress.
"Okay, I can work with that."

All That Glitters Is Not Gold (part 15)
Summary: Y/n gets hired to be the avengers chief physician and also happens to be an ex assassin.
Word Count: 2.3k
Warning: Swearing, Descriptive Violence, Blood, Gore, a bad case of the google translates.
A/n: Ladies and gents this is the moment you’ve waited for - kinda ;)
Tumblr media
𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘷𝘪𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴
𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘷𝘪𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘴.
_
Wanda and Vision grabbed each other's hands once again. They leaned in slowly. Right as their lips were about to meet there was an explosion.
Without warning, Y/n got launched into the air. She flew backward, her reflexes weren't quick enough and she hit her head on the back of the stage.
She soon regained consciousness. She wasn't sure she was out but she figured it couldn't have been more than a couple of seconds. Y/n tried to open her eyes but she couldn't. Her ears were ringing and she could hear was muffled screaming.
She was so tired. She just wanted to lay there. It was like slumber was calling her. But she knew she could fall asleep. Not yet. She probably wouldn't wake up.
She wasn't going to die right there. Later the devil could pull her down to the underworld and she could rot out the rest of her days in hell. But not today.
But she just needed to open her damn eyes.
Y/n tried and tried but she couldn't move a muscle. Even breathing felt as though it was taking a toll on her. She needed to make sure everyone was safe. She needed to make sure the Avengers were safe.
Y/n's eyes snapped open, everything came crashing down on her. The screams were louder, she could hear gunshots, the fighting.
She gripped onto the stage to pull herself up. There were men in tactical suits rushing around. But this wasn't Hydra. No. These were people she knew much more close to home.
She almost couldn't believe what she was seeing. Though she should have known better. She could never have a normal life. She could never have friends. She could never love someone without putting them in danger.
The thought should have made her sad or make her wallow in self-pity. But no. She was— she was angry. Y/n felt as though something inside of her snapped.
Y/n pushed herself up to stand even though all the joints and aches in her body protested against it. She bent down and ripped off the bottom of her dress. She kicked off her heels and broke off the leg on each one.
She gripped them both tightly in each hand. She took a quick intake of air and ran to the fight. Two people were closing in on Peter.
She approached the man closes to her. He whipped around to her and threw a punch. She quickly darted under his arm ending up on the other side of him. She kicked him in the back causing him to stagger forward losing his balance.
Y/n went over to him and grabbed him by the collar of the shirt. She took the heel leg she had in her hand and stabbed him in the back instantly paralyzing him. She let him fall to the floor without a second thought.
Y/n snuck up on the second one. He was bigger. He had just punched Peter causing him to fall backward. She got a running start and jumped onto his back.
The man flailed around trying to get her off his back, but Y/n shoved the second heel leg between his collarbone and throat. The man collapsed and she rolled off of him gracefully.
Peter was still on the floor. She walked over to him and offered him her hand. He took it wide-eyed and she pulled him up. "This is crazy man. I've never fought people like this. There's even a kid my age, can you believe that?"
Y/n clenched her jaw and looked away "Find Tony and tell him it's him."
"Tell him it's who?"
Y/n didn't answer Peter and just walked away. She walked over to the man laying on the floor. She turned him over and plucked off his knives and gun.
There were three knives and one gun. There was one clip inside of the gun containing 7 bullets. She checked the rest of his body. Who went into a battle with little ammunition? An idiot like him obviously.
She knew he wasn't stupid. She knew he would have brought enough of his men to keep the Avengers busy while he tried to kill her. He probably found their location from the paparazzi or one of the catering crew.
But there was a difference between them. The Avengers were fighting to disable and his men were fighting to kill.
Y/n slide the clip back in the gun and cocked it back. She would just have to find him first.
Y/n began to make her way around the beach. She knew the sneaking bastard wouldn't come out until near the end of the battle.
She shot anyone who got in her way not caring to give them a second glance. She only hoped Peter made his way to Tony without any problems or complications.
Only Tony would understand what she was going to do. What she had to do. She tried playing nice and he left her for dead. She never wanted this. She never wanted any of it.
Y/n felt a presence behind her. Right as she turned around the person behind her threw a punch. She blocked and threw a punch of her own. The man blocked and elbowed her in the mouth.
She flew back and hit the sand. Her throat felt dry and she tasted a metallic taste in her mouth. She licked her lips and pushed herself up.
Y/n grabbed her knife and charged at the man. She slashed at the man and he blocked moving backward. She went to stab him again and he grabbed her wrist and twisted it trapping her right wrist from any further movement.
She let go of her knife in her right hand and caught it in her left. She clutched it and stabbed him in the stomach.
The man let go of her and clutched his stomach. He staggered backward and fell. Y/n let out a quick sigh before she wiped the sweat off of her forehead.
Y/n felt something trickle out of her nose, she wiped it off with her arm adding to her already messy appearance.
Down the aisle Y/n seen Bucky fly back and hit a row of chairs. She didn't hesitate as she rushed down toward him.
A man was pointing a gun at Bucky. Before he shot Y/n grabbed his wrist and moved his arms upward and The shot went up in the air.
Y/n forced the gun down and hit the man in the face. The gun fell to the floor and she used the chance as a distraction.
She stepped onto his thigh and whipped her leg around his shoulder. She crossed her ankles and whipped her body downward taking him down in a head-scissors takedown.
The man fell with a thud. The person that came at her was a woman. The woman swung down a knife at Y/n.
Y/n grabbed her arm and yanked it to the front of her while turning. Y/n pressed her body against the woman's back forcing her to the ground. She grabbed the knife out of the woman's arm and threw it away a couple of inches.
The woman got out of her gripped and they began to wrestle around the sand. The woman got on top of Y/n and put her hands around her throat, cutting off her airway.
Y/n moved her hand around trying to grab the knife but it was out of reach. She began choking and black spots started coating her vision.
Giving up on the knife, Y/n wrapped her legs around the woman's arms and used the rest of her strength to flip her over.
This time Y/n was on top, she reached out and grabbed the knife. In one quick motion, Y/n slit the woman's throat.
Y/n collapsed to her side off of the woman. She immediately pushed herself off of the ground not having any time to waste.
Y/n felt a presence beside her. She tensed her body preparing for a fight. She whipped her body around and came face to face with Bucky.
He was staring at her wide-eyed. He didn't say anything he just stared. Y/n opened her mouth to say something. But nothing came out. She didn't know what to say.
This wasn't the way she wanted them to find out. Actually, she never wanted them to find out. Y/n closed her mouth and turned around. She gave him one last look before she walked away. She had no time to worry about what she couldn't control anymore.
Y/n looked over to the stage and that's when she saw him. She clenched her jaw so hard she thought her teeth were going to break. God, Y/n had forgotten how much she hated him.
Y/n clenched her knife in her hand as she began walking. She ignored all the fighting around her and made a straight path to him.
She stepped onto the stage and walked to the middle of it "You wanted me here so bad well here I am." She screamed.
The man turned around and smiled at her. A smile she had known too well growing up with. She could see the malicious glint in his eyes. "Hello sister, it's been too long."
"Not long enough Jedediah." Y/n seethed. She watched his face slightly twitch.
"I'm going to enjoy killing you, you mouthy bitch." Jedediah stuck out his hand and one of his men handed him a knife "Maybe this time you'll stay dead."
Y/n felt everyone's eyes on her. She put on an easy smirk to hide how she truly felt. Like she wanted to throw up. "Wouldn't count on it."
Jedediah lunged at Y/n swinging his knife down. She spun out of the way just before it was about to cut her.
Y/n slashed her knife at him. He blocked anticipating her attack. She threw a punch but he blocked that too.
Jedediah switched his knife to his other hand and swung it at Y/n. She grabbed his wrist and twisted it to lower his mobility. She kneed him in the stomach causing him to stagger backward.
He quickly recovered. He faked going right and she fell for it blocking him. She paid the price by him hitting her in the mouth.
Jedediah swiped her legs causing her to fall. She hooked her foot around his ankle bringing him down with her.
She didn't take a second to recover as she rolled back on her shoulder and pushed herself to her feet.
Y/n kicked the knife out of his hand. It flew off of the stage onto the floor. Right as Y/n was getting ready to stab him she felt an attack coming from behind.
She turned around and ducked right as the person threw the punch. She looked up to see a teen. The one Peter was talking about earlier in the fight. She knew exactly who he was.
The teen pulled out a gun. Y/n kicked it out of his hand before he even got the chance to turn off the safety.
Y/n heard Peter scream. She grabbed the kid by the collar and pulled him toward her. She put her knife to his throat and turned them both around to face her brother.
When she turned around she saw Jedediah holding his gun to the side of Peter's head. Y/n let out a few curses. She saw Peter looking at her with pleading eyes.
"Let him go or I'll slit his throat," Y/n said.
Jedediah looked to the side of her and then back at her. He didn't make any move to lower his gun. Y/n pressed her knife slightly further into the kid's throat. Not enough to cause any serious injury but enough to draw blood "Now!" She told him.
His eyes flickered next to her again "It's ironic. You and The Winter Soldier being together. It makes sense, you guys would relate to each other. You know, assassin to assassin."
Y/n looked over to her side to see Bucky standing next to her. Honestly, she didn't even know that he was there she was so caught up with Peter.
Bucky twisted up his face in confusion and her brother let out a laugh. "Oh, you don't know. Your sweet little girlfriend isn't so innocent. One wouldn't be with so much blood on their hands. She's an assassin, Lilith, Have you heard of her?"
Y/n's grip involuntarily tightened and the kid let out a whimper. "III seconds ego coram vobis ferro et mersum est in eo." She said in Latin "you have three seconds before I plunge this knife into him."
"Я должен был задушить тебя в ванне, когда ты был младенцем." Her brother replied in Russian. "I should have suffocated you in the bath when you were a baby."
Y/n leaned toward the kid and whispered in his ear "You should have listened to your dad when he to you not to fuck with me."
Y/n moved the knife away in one quick motion but slightly nicked his neck. She pushed the kid toward her brother and he pushed Peter toward her.
Jedediah grabbed his son by the arm and dragged him away. The rest of his men followed not putting up a fight.
When they left Y/n looked around. All of the Avengers' eyes were on her. She licked the blood off of her teeth "Now you guys know what a true monster looks like."
She dropped the knife on the ground and walked away.

A/n: I don’t know what prompted me to write this but enjoy ;)
_
Y/n walked out of the building and down the concrete stairs. She was wearing a perfectly tailored suit with a pair of matching black red bottoms. Her skin glowed in the sunlight.
She looked perfect. As she always did. Everyone in the tri-state area knew who Y/n Y/l/n was. She was one of the biggest mob bosses on the upper east coast. She sold drugs, guns, security detail, and any other thing you could think of.
When she had first started people didn't take her seriously, they underestimated her. Because she was a girl. Soon enough they learned it was a mistake.
Sometimes men still did laugh at her idea at Business meetings. Well until Y/n would smash their head against the table and break their nose.
Y/n had gotten many nicknames over time; sadistic, cold-hearted, heartless. And honestly, she welcomed them.
She hated the stereotype that women belonged in the kitchen, that they should be dainty and only speak when spoken to, that their only good for the male gaze and having children.
Y/n had built her empire from the ground up. Starting with running drugs at the age of 12 to killing someone from the opposite gang if need be at the age of 15.
Y/n had been to jail a few times but only for minor things. Theft, breaking and entering, possession of a deadly weapon. Though she had been back for some time. She had most of the judges and police in New York in her pocket. And if she didn't she had just enough dirt to make them think otherwise.
Y/n walked down the stairs to the sidewalk. When she approached her limo, the driver opened the door for her. She thanked him and stepped in.
She pulled off her sunglasses and put them on the top of her head. "Tell me what you got Wanda." She said checking her phone.
Wanda was sitting on the opposite seat of Y/n wearing a nicely pressed dress. Wanda was one of Y/n's most trusted people. She had known her since she was about 16.
She and her brother had both worked with Y/n until he got shot by an opposite gang and died. Y/n doesn't think she had ever been so angry in her life before that night.
Wanda cleared her throat "So Hope has reported back from the Rumlow mob. She said he has started selling girls again. She said his clientele is a little more laid back this time around but she should have a list of names by the end of the month."
Y/n didn't actually do everything other mobs did. She didn't run whores. She could if she wanted to she definitely had enough manpower for it. But it just hit too close to home.
When Y/n was little her mother used to sell herself to put food on the table. Men would come in and out all day. Her mother would just tell her they were just her friends. But even at 10, she knew the truth. And that was when she knew things had to change.
Y/n sighed "Alright, tell her if she wants to she can come back. I don't want her to have to go through all of that just to get information."
Y/n's whole mafia was consistent of women. It didn't matter where you came from or how much money you had as long as you were a girl you were welcomed in.
She did technically have one boy. Peter Parker. His aunt May lived next to her growing up, and when he was born Y/n would babysit him for a few extra bucks.
She didn't let him do anything dangerous even after how much he protested. He usually just counted stock or drove her around when need be.
He was so young Y/n couldn't let him in this life, he was too smart. So she told Peter she would pay for his college and when he graduated if he still wanted in she would let him.
If he did join when he was older Y/n would most likely hand down the mafia to him and his long-term girlfriend Mj. Mj was smart, she was quick on her feet. So she knew the pair of them together could take over.
Y/n always knew she didn't want children. Honestly, when she looked at them they made her gut twist and not in a nice way. She viewed them as obstacles. An 18-year obstacle. She figured if she ever got lonely she would adopt a cat.
"That's not all," Wanda said.
Y/n raised her eyebrows as a sign to continue. "It's the Barnes mafia, we got word that they're going to hit one of our shipments tonight."
Y/n smiled at Wanda "Oh goodie, bring him in. I have a word or two I can say to him."
Wanda clicked a few buttons on her phone "Very well."
_
It was near midnight and Y/n sat in her office. She was arranging meetings with other mobs, buyers, and distributors. It was one of her least favorite jobs to do.
She liked the actions, she liked when she could shoot at people. If everyone didn't know who she was, right now chances were she would be undercover.
She liked the adrenaline of being undercover. They will they won't they game. It just gave her a rush of excitement she couldn't find anywhere else.
She had never gotten caught when she was younger but there were a few times she had come close. Of course, the mobs she worked for then didn't care if she lived or died. Though now they probably wished for the latter.
Y/n can remember the look on Pierce's face when she pointed a gun at his head. A little street rat had gotten so close to him and shoot him. That day she felt as though all her hard work had paid off.
Until one of his lackeys, Rumlow started up again. Oh, when she got to Rumlow she was going to give him a nice, slow, painful death. She could imagine it now.
A knock at the door shook Y/n out of her thoughts. She set her tablet on her desk "Come in Wanda."
They had a special knock that only a few of them knew so that whenever they heard that sound they would let the other in.
Wanda walked in first followed by two holding each arm of a man tied up. James Barnes. She almost forgot he was coming. Y/n had to bite back a smile.
There was a bag around his head and his arms were tied behind his back. He was towering over the two girls next to him. He could have easily overpowered them but he had to have known there were multiple guns trained on him.
They pushed him down on the chair in front of Y/n's desk. She waved her hand in a circular motion and Wanda ripped the cloth bag off of his head. That was another thing they didn't have to talk about and just knew.
When the bag got taken off James's eyes immediately darted everywhere. Probably accessing the situation. His hair was in every which direction and his mouth had tape over it.
"Untie him and leave," Y/n stated calmly.
"Are you sure you want to do that? He dangerous." One of the girls stammered.
Wanda gave the girl a hard look and her face paled. Immediately they both began to unbind the retrains, lastly, they ripped the tape off his mouth. The two girls left without another word.
"Thank you, Wanda. You may go home, take a few days to yourself." Wanda looked like she wanted to argue but ultimately nodded and left.
After a few moments, Y/n kicked her neatly polished toes off of her desk and stood up. She was wearing grey baggy sweatpants and a white tank top that showed a bit of her stomach. She liked to be comfortable in her house.
She crossed her arms and walked over to James. She wasn't scared of him, if anything he looked like a lost puppy dog. She walked over to him and stood in between his legs.
She took her finger and traced his jawline "You've been a naughty boy."
She put her fingers under his chin and lifted his head. He didn't make a move to stop her and she smirked. His blue eyes pouring into hers. "But you are a pretty little thing, aren't ya?"
She let go of his face and sat backward on top of her desk. "Whatever you think you've on me you don't." His voice was gruff. She would be lying if she said she didn't find it a little sexy.
Y/n smirked "Oh yeah?"
"Your little spy wasn't loyal. She told me everything after we waved a few bucks in front of her face." James stated.
Y/n bit back a smile. She gripped the edge of her desk "Natasha sweetheart, can you come here?"  Y/n called out.
The door opened behind Bucky and Natasha walked in and went over to Y/n's desk "Yes boss?"
Natasha was another one of Y/n's most trusted girls. She met her when she was younger. Nat was also working for dirty, scum bag, Pierce. When Y/n asked her to join her she quickly agreed.
Natasha was good at basically everything. She was one girl you did not fuck with. Her pretty face hide and ugly, ruthless inside.
Recognition flickered through James's eyes "Well, Bucky. Can I call you Bucky?" He clenched his jaw
"I always knew Sharon was dirty and I also knew as soon I put her undercover she would sing like a cinerary. So I used her as a distraction, you see Nat here was assigned to get close to one of your higher-ups, to get information. I knew you would never let her close to you so she went for one of your weaknesses."
She watched as Bucky bunched his metal arm up into a fist. She felt butterflies in her stomach, she weirdly liked making him angry. Would he lunge off the chair and choke her out? Would he sit there and do nothing?
Y/n waved Natasha out. She would inform her what they talk about later. Natasha gave her a wink and walked out.
Y/n clicked her tongue "It's a shame. Nat was rather found of little ole' Stevie."
"If you hurt him I will kill you." Bucky snarled.
Y/n pulled her feet on her desk "Oh relax I didn't lay a finger on him." Yet, though she left that unsaid.
"I'm not playing your games Y/n."
Y/n gasped in fake delight "You know who I am."
Buckys eyebrows rose"I've known who you were since we were kids. You work for our opposing mob Hydra. You were one of their best dealers but most times people overlooked you because you were a girl."
That surprised Y/n but she hid it well. She had only known who Bucky was for a few years when he took over his father's mob. "You know I've always had come out number one."
Bucky licked his lips and Y/n had to squeeze her legs together. She could tell his breath had gotten slightly quicker. But from fear or arousal, she didn't know. "What do you want Y/n?" He asked in a slightly deeper tone.
Y/n leaned forward and tilted her head to the side "I would say you didn't want to know. But it looks like you want the same thing."
Bucky didn't hesitate before he got out of his and grabbed Y/n's hips bringing them closer to him. He leaned down and their lips met.

Y/n cracked open her eyes. The light was peaking through the curtain in Wanda's room. Y/n sat up in the bed and wiped the saliva at the corner of her mouth off. She looked over to the nightstand and the clock read 1:00 pm. Did she really sleep for 15 hours?
Y/n pushed the blanket off and got off of the bed. She stretched her arms above her head and walked over to the full-length mirror. She had bags under her eyes, her hair was crazy, and her head was throbbing. God, she really did look like shit.
Y/n stomach growled. She walked over to the door and opened it. hopefully, this ancient safe house had edible food in it. She walked down the stairs rubbing her eyes and into the kitchen. She walked past Peter who was eating at the table and opened the cupboard.
"Morning sleeping beauty." He joked taking in her appearance.
Y/n grumbled but didn't say anything. She couldn't find anything to eat. Even the cereal they had was bad, All-bran, Shredded Wheat, Rice Krispies, the best thing they had was corn flakes and they didn't even have sugar to go with it.
Y/n dragged herself over to the table and slumped down in the chair. She rested her head against the cool surface of the table "Do you have any Tylenol, Advil, Ibuprofen, oxy, molly, maybe some coke?"
Peter laughed right as he was about to respond someone knocked on the door. Y/n picked her head up, they both looked at the door and then back at each other. Peter pushed his chair back and stood up "Stay there."
"You don't have to tell me twice," Y/n muttered and rubbed her forehead.
Peter grabbed his web-shooters off of the shelf. He peaked out of the curtain and then opened the door. He began to speak to whoever was outside. She couldn't hear what he was saying. "Peter." She said in a hushed tone.
"Peter whos at the door." She whispered again. She started to creep over toward him just in case it was trouble.
Peter looked over to Y/n with a smile on his face "Babe come here and meet the neighbors."
Babe? What the hell was wrong with him? Y/n walked over to him. Did he fall in the shower and hit his head or something. She walked over to the door. Peter pull Y/n into his side "Peter what the hel-"
"Oh is this your lovely girlfriend?"
Y/n turned to the door. The was an older man and woman standing on the porch holding a glass container. Y/n plastered a fake smile on her face and wrapped her arm around Peter "Oh honey who is this?" She asked.
The older woman turned to Y/n "Hi I'm Greta and this is my husband, Arthur. We were relaxing on our porch when we saw the light on in the cabin. We live just across the lake from you guys."
"How lovely!" She blinked.
"Are there any other neighbors around here? We just wouldn't want to miss them when we were out." Peter didn't tell her there was anyone around here. Let alone right across the lake.
"Not just us. It's just you two? You look a little young to be here by yourself."
Y/n internally panicked. She shouldn't have said anything but Peter was quick to save her "My uncle gave us the keys to the family cabin to celebrate finishing the first semester of college. We got here pretty late."
"You guys do look like you had a pretty long night last night." The woman winked. Y/n's eyes basically bulged out of her head at what she was implying.
"Remember when we were younger honey. We used to be able to go all night and all day." The woman laughed.
"You guys should definitely stop by and visit sometime, we would really love to have some younger company." It was crazy to Y/n just how quickly she could change the subject.
"We would love to visit sometime. Just invite us over some time and we'll be there." Peter grimaced but quickly covered it up with a smile.
While Peter and Greta talked, Y/n looked over the couple. They did look harmless enough but looks could be deceiving.
Y/n noticed Greta had a baby blue purse on her arm. A sudden urge hit her. She so badly wanted to stick her hand into it. If even only for a second. Y/n began to reach out her arm. They were distracted so maybe if she could just—
Peter pinched Y/n in the side. Hard. It caused her to immediately drop her arm. She clenched her teeth as she smiled. She had to stop herself from rubbing her side. Who knew someone could pinch so hard.
"This is for you guys." she handed Y/n the container "Well just let you guys get back to it then. It was nice to meet you guys." Authur said. He offered Greta his arm.
"You too. Have a good day now." Y/n put her head on Peter's shoulder. The couple walked down the stairs and out of sight.
Y/n slammed the door and they pushed apart from each other. She walked over to the table and set the container down. She opened it, it was lasagna and it smelled delicious to her.
"Do you think it's safe to eat?" She asked as she turned to Peter.
"Yeah, why wouldn't it be?" He looked at her.
Y/n flailed her arms in the air "I don't know Peter. Because She literally just implied that we were having sex last night! Aren't old ladies supposed to be modest?"
"I don't blame her, your disheveled appearance, you have several bruises. I got to say Y/n that's not a good look." He laughed.
"Oh like you could do all this." Y/n waved her hand around her body.
Peter scoffed and crossed his arms. Y/n grabbed a plate and a fork. She put some of the food on her plate "If I die now I'm going to be really fucking disappointed."
Peter grabbed his own plate and fork and sat down next to Y/n. He put some on his plate. He looked at Y/n and he was already staring back at him "What? I'm a growing boy."
Y/n scuffed "I think it all just goes to that big head of yours."
Peter put his hand over his heart and feigned a hurt expression "You know, I was willing to eat a poison lasagna and possibly die with you and the thanks I get from you, my darling girlfriend is an insult. I am truly wounded."
"Well, my beloved boyfriend I'd rather eat poisoned pasta than spend another second with you." Y/n winked. She shoved the fork in the lasagna and into her mouth.
Peter put on the fakest smile he could "Is it lethal my love?"
Y/n smiled back not even bothering to swallow her food "Hopefully."
They both began to eat. Peter kept on chewing with his mouth open. Y/n had to make an effort not to lunge across the table and stab him with her fork. Did he really have to be so damn annoying? Y/n considered it to be one of his special talents. Well, really his only talent.
He was such a stick in the mud. She assumed he probably went bird-watching for fun. And honestly, it would probably be the most interesting thing about.
Well besides him being an Avenger-in-training. Emphasis on the in-training part. Y/n was surprised the whole school didn't know. Peter didn't seem like the type to be good at keeping secrets. And she definitely knew he tended to freak out under pressure.
Y/n had figured it out within 30 seconds of knowing him. Well at first she didn't really believe it. Because he was just— he was just so damn nerdy.
Okay so maybe that's a little mean thing to think but she couldn't help it. Honestly, Y/n couldn't figure out how he and May were related. He was just an insult to their entire bloodline. She guessed there was not an athletic bone in that body. Well before he became spidey.
Y/n and Peter decided to check around the safe house to see if they could find anything useful. Y/n was checking out the den and so far she hadn't found anything. She hated how much light came through the windows and she preferred for it to be dark.
She was going through the desk. Most of the things in the drawers were layouts of the safe house. The only useful thing she could gather from that was some hidden exits she hadn't previously known about. Which could prove to be useful in the future but for the time being they were pretty much useless unless she wanted to sneak into Peter's room.
Y/n kept digging around the drawers. After another couple of minutes, she gave up and slumped against the floor. She leaned the back of her head against the desk. Why did everything have to be so difficult?
Peter walked down the hall holding a box of items in his hands. He entered the room Y/n was in. She was slumped back on the desk with her eyes close.
Peter closed the distance between them. He lowered himself to the floor, across from Y/n, sitting crisscross applesauce.
He set the box down in the middle of them and his eyes flickered over to Y/n. Her eyes were still closed. She looked so tired. Peter could almost feel bad for her. Almost.
It wasn't that Peter didn't like Y/n. Well, okay it was exactly that. But who could blame him? The girl was totally not sane. He's pretty sure he had met 5th graders that could make better decisions than her.
Peter would admit sometimes he was the brightest but Y/n made him seem like a genius. He was so sure the day before that she would've gotten them killed.
He didn't get injured in those fights the day before. Well, not physically anyway. He could thank that now dead spider that had bitten him on a field trip for that. He couldn't say the same for Y/n. She had several cuts, bruises, and he was pretty sure she had a concussion.
Honestly, Peter felt like she should have come out with more than that from when they had jumped out the window but he guessed she had just gotten lucky.
Peter began to dig through the box. It was mostly just random papers and pens. He found a few fake IDs and passports. His fingers hit something smooth. Out of curiosity he grabbed it and pulled it out.
It was a tiny metal box with a button on it. Peter pushed the cardboard box away and set the device on the ground. He leaned his head over it. What did it do? Peter clicked on the button. Bright light flooded his eye. He flinched and pushed himself back.
Peter rubbed his eyes and opened them back open. The light was projected upward, creating an image. It was a hologram. Most importantly a Tony Stark-made hologram.
Peter nudged Y/n with his foot "Hey look I might have found something."
Y/n opened her eyes. Her gaze flickered to Peter and then to the hologram. Her eyebrows furrowed and she pushed herself closer to it. "What is it?"
"It's kind of like a Computer I guess. Tony made it. I think he left one in every safe house. It's connected to FRIDAY the compounds virtual assistant."
"Connected to the compound? So that means anyone there could see our location through that?" Y/n asked.
Peter ran his hand through his hair "No I don't think so. It's probably on a separate network. We could probably see what people are doing there but people can't see what we are doing here."
Y/n hummed in response. She stuck her hand out, used her finger, and poked at the hologram. It didn't feel like any, yet it would open whatever she clicked on.
She looked over to Peter to see him already watching her. She took her hand away. "Freaky." She muttered.
Peter's mouth twitched in amusement. They looked at each other for a few moments before Y/n narrowed her eyes. Peter looked away and cleared his throat "Right, so, uh, back to business."
Y/n raised an eyebrow "Right."
Peter focused on the hologram. He clicked on a few buttons and out popped a video. It was the surveillance footage from the day before. It showed cars pulling up and Y/n and Peter running out of the compound.
"Any idea who they are?" Y/n asked not taking her eyes off of the video.
"I have no idea. I would have said Hydra but there are no logos on their uniforms and I don't think they have enough manpower to break into the compound." Peter sped up the video a bit.
"Why would someone kidnap the Avengers? Who would go to all that trouble?" Y/n totally got the whole, not like the Avengers part. She guessed they must have attacked during the day like them.
It dawned on her then. She looked over to Peter "How did they know you were Spider-man? How did they know to attack you."
Peter's face twisted in confusion and his mouth gaped open slightly. How did they know? It wasn't public knowledge.
He pursed his lips in thought "My question is why did they attack both of us?"
Y/n tilted her head to the side "What do you mean?" It seemed pretty obvious to her. They were trying to kill Peter and they didn't want any loose ends. As simple as that.
"Just think about it. They chose to attack when both of us were together. Why not kill me in an ally or at my apartment. Wouldn't it have been easier then? No, they wanted us both gone." Peter stated.
Y/n mouth nearly fell open. Was that possible? She guessed it made sense. Kill two birds with one stone. But why would they want to kill her? She hadn't done anything that bad. Could they have known? No. They couldn't. They were all dead right?
"Admit it. I'm right and you know it." Peter said.
It's not that Y/n didn't want to admit it. It's that she didn't want it to be true "That means I have a huge target on my back." She sighed.
"You mean besides the NYPD? Wondering who caused the number of missing wallets to accelerate."
She scowled. He really had to bring that up when they are trying to figure out who's trying to put them in an early grave "You make me want to slap you."
"Touché," Peter muttered.
He thought for sure she was going to reach across the floor and smack him. Instead, she leaned her arm on her leg and rubbed her forehead.
That reminded Peter. He stuck his hand in his pocket and pulled out a bottle. "Here I got this for you."
She looked up and Peter tossed the bottle over to her. She stuck out her hand and caught it. It was a bottle of Tylenol. Earlier when Peter was searching the safe house he came across a few bottles of pain relievers he remembered her asking before the neighbors came so he stuck one in his pocket to give to her when they met back up.
Y/n quickly unscrewed the cap and threw a few pills back. She could have kiss Peter right then and there. Well maybe she wouldn't go as far as to say kiss but she could have given him a quick high-five.
Y/n set the bottle next to her on the ground. She would definitely be taking that back to her room later on. "So what should we do for now."
"I was thinking we could go through some more security footage to see if we can find anything useful. There should be another one of these around. We can both watch different days so we can get through everything quicker."
"Okay."
"Okay?" He was surprised she was agreeing so easily. He thought she would have put up a fight or at least let out a little scoff.
"Alright let her this over with." Honestly, it was the best idea there was at the time. That and Y/n didn't feel like arguing with him.
Peter pushed off of the floor "I'll go find one now."

All of the Avengers sat at a long table talking, eating, and celebrating. Tony had rented out a private venue for Wanda and Vision's rehearsal dinner. Everyone had already given their gifts and wishes to the loving couple.
The dinner was coming to a successful end. Y/n stood up and tapped on her glass. She didn't know if she was actually supposed to do that but she figured why not. "As this night is coming to end I would like to give a tiny speech."
She looked over to Wanda and she gave her a nod saying it was alright "Oh where do I start? Wanda you are the most kind, caring, and loving person I know. When we hadn't even known each other for more than a few hours you made me feel welcome."
"When you found out I didn't know how to cook you didn't judge but brought me into your warm embrace. All you know is how to do is influence people to be their best selves. Your loving heart makes everyone and the world around you a better place. I'm going to cut this off saving my big speech for tomorrow but I want you to know you're such a kind soul and out of everyone I know, you're most deserving of long-lasting love. I love you."
Wanda stood up and hugged Y/n. Wanda was slightly teary-eyed "I love you too. Thank you." everyone began to start clapping and cheering.
Y/n pulled back and squeezed Wanda's arm."Now get to bed. You need to be well-rested for your big day." she teased.
"Yes ma'am." Wanda laughed.
_
Y/n had been running around the venue like a chicken with its head cut off. She had been up since six in the morning to make sure everything was in place and was perfect for Wanda. Of course, everything that could go wrong went wrong but she didn't let Wanda know.
The last time she had seen Wanda was earlier that day to wake her up and start her a lavender bath to relax in. She left her with candles and a robe telling her she'll meet her back in her room later to help her get ready.
Afterward, Y/n quickly got ready knowing she most likely wouldn't have time to do it later. She took a shower and did her hair. Wanda had picked out long slick red ruby dresses for her bridesmaids to wear a week prior. She did her makeup and left to get started for the day.
Wanda had chosen one of the last remaining beaches in Sakovia to have her wedding. It was beautiful but also very windy. Y/n almost got fed up enough and she was going to glue the flowers to the tables. how could something so pretty be so annoying?
Some of the workers had put things in the wrong place several times and even broke a few vases. Sometimes Y/n had felt like she was explaining things to a child, don't run, two hands on the vase, watch where you're walking. She felt like a bridesmaidzilla. Y/n had decided if she ever got married she would go down to the courthouse and get it over with because she rather get shot in the foot than do this again.
After Y/n helped set up the chairs she noticed something was missing. The flower girl. She was so stupid. How could she forget to find someone to be a flower girl? Y/n began to panic. She was going to ruin Wanda's wedding. Oh god, she was a terrible person.
She saw Peter helping move one of the tables and then an idea struck her. Peter caught her eye and she waved him over. He put down the table and jogged over to her "Hey Y/n what's up?"
Y/n fixed Peters tied and patted him on the shoulder "Hey Pete I need a favor."
He nodded and crossed his arms "Alright what do you need?"
"So these last few weeks I have been so busy and I forgot to find a flower girl. So I'm going to need you to be our flower boy." Y/n gave him a sheepish smile. She really did hate to ask but she was desperate at this point. And if he said no she would have to throw flowers down the aisle.
"Okay." He shrugged.
"Okay?" She asked. "Okay, Yeah I'll do it," he said.
Y/n pulled Peter into a tight hug and gave him a sloppy kiss on the cheek "You are a lifesaver. Alright, you go with the boys and ill grab the flower crown and basket and meet you in Visions room."
Peter said he would meet her there. Y/n mentally high-fived herself but she couldn't celebrate too much yet she still had a whole wedding to get through. They were starting to set up and start cooking the food so it would be hot and fresh by the end of the ceremony. Y/n dodged several people that were holding large Items and just narrowly avoided someone holding a pitcher of punch.
Y/n talked to the Dj telling them the bridges and grooms song of choice to walk down the aisle to. She talked to the preacher and announcer just to make sure they had gotten everything right. The last thing she did was set up the donation box. Of course, they lived off of Tony but who would say no to more money.
Y/n looked at the time, it was 2:00 pm. The wedding started at 4:00. Y/n booked it to the hotel. She ran through the busy lobby and into the elevator. Y/n tapped her foot impatiently against the floor as she watched the floor numbers get higher and higher. The elevator dinged signaling it was her floor. She dashed out the elevator and down the hall. Of course, her room had to be the last room on the floor.
Y/n grabbed her room key out of the bra of her dress and shoved it into the lock. The door opened and she ran into her room. She grabbed the wicker basket, rose petals, and flower crown. Was it messed up Y/n was making a teenage boy wear a flower crown after agreeing to do her a favor? Y/n would say no, she thought I would be adorable.
Y/n ran back out of the room and into the elevator. The elevator reached the floor of Visions suite and she power-walked down the hall. When she reached his room she kicked the door with her foot. The door opened and she walked right past the person who opened it into the room.
She made a B-line to Peter and set everything down on the table. She opened the rose petals and dumped them in the basket. She set the flower crown on his hand and fixed his hair. She finally turned to him
"Don't touch your crown or hair. When you throw out the flowers make sure they're spaced out nicely and don't step on Wandas dress. Got it?"
"Got it." He breathed.
"Good." Y/n turned to the rest of the men. To say they were a mess would be an understatement. Half of them weren't even dressed, a few looked like they just had gotten up, and a couple of them didn't even have their suits yet. Y/n waved her hand at them "You guys need to get it together. I expect everyone should be ready and perfect by 4."
She got several yes ma'ams so Y/n decided she was done there. They could take care of themselves. Right? When Y/n walked outside of the door someone grabbed her wrist and stopped her from any further movement.
Y/n turned around to see Bucky right behind her "Calm down. Everythings going to turn out fine. Nothing can go wrong."
Y/n gave him a nervous smile "Don't jink's it."
"Yeah, yeah. I'll meet you down there. And don't forget to put on shoes," He points at her bare feet. Y/n had decided to leave her shoes in Wanda's room because she didn't want to have her final destination moment trying to fix a table cloth.
"Sir yes sir." She gave him a terrible playful wink and laughed.
Y/n walked down the hallway and went back into the elevator once again. Now lastly she had to go help Wanda go get ready. She exited the elevator and knocked on Wanda's door. She sighed, this was the last step before the sprint. Wanda opened the door and ushered her inside.
"How is it going? Are there any problems? Can we still get married?" Wanda started immediately.
Y/n grabbed both of Wanda's shoulders and make eye contact with her "Everything is fine. The only major change is our flower girl is now a flower boy."
Wanda took a deep breath and finally seemed to relax "Alright, okay, good. I'm glad you're here. Natasha said she would meet us downstairs."
"See? Everythings fine. Let's get started on your hair." Y/n smiled.
Y/n steered Wanda over to the chair in front of the vanity and sat her down. She opened up her hair and makeup bag. She brushed her hair and started to heat her hair curler. She sections Wanda's hair into four parts and began to curl her hair. Y/n did her hair in a half-up half-down style while Wanda did her own makeup.
They talked and laughed as they finished up. Y/n looked at Wanda and smiled "You look beautiful. Are you nervous?"
Wanda looked up to Y/n "Very. But Vision is the man of my dreams and I'm excited to spend the rest of my life with him."
Y/n clapped her hands together "Well, let's get you in your dress so can go get married!"
Y/n went to the bathroom and grabbed out the bag containing Wanda's wedding dress. The dress had just gotten in two days before. Y/n was sure they weren't going to be able to have it by the wedding. But she soon learned that when you were an Avenger things tended to get done.
Y/n brought the bag out. She made Wanda use the bathroom because she knew it would be a bitch to get out of. Y/n unzipped the bag and pulled the dress out. Wanda came back into the room. she took off of her robe and stepped into the dress. Y/n tied the laces in the back and help Wanda into her underskirt.
When they were done Wanda walked over to the full-length mirror and spun around "How do I look." She asked Y/n.
"Absolutely stunning. If Vision hadn't proposed by now I definitely would've." Y/n declared.
"Good." Wanda beamed. They both put on their shoes and sat on Wanda's bed.
Y/n looked at the time. It was 3:45. Vision would already be down the aisle by now and the guest would already all be there "Ready?" Y/n asked. "Ready." Wanda breathed.
They exited the room and got on to the elevator. They were both quiet and both slightly anxious. "Last few minutes before you're a married woman. Any last words?" She joked.
The elevator opened and they both walked out "Let's get this over with."
Y/n and Wanda walked to the beach. They were the last ones to arrive that were in the ceremony. Y/n let go of Wanda's arm to go get everyone ready. She made sure all of the brides and grooms were together. she made sure Peter had the rings and the flowers. She made sure Wanda's dress looked perfect and gave her, her bouquet. Steve was going to walk her down the aisle, him being a father figure to her.
"You got this girl," Y/n whispered to her and winked. Wanda gave her a nervous smile and a thumbs up.
Y/n walked into her place next to Bucky. He offered his arm and she gladly took it finally being able to relax. The music began, Tony and Pepper were the first pair to walk down the aisle. It went smoothly and after a couple of seconds, Natasha and Sam walked down the aisle.
Next, it was Y/n and Bucky's turn, before they walked out he turned to her and whispered "I didn't get a chance to tell you earlier but you look beautiful."
"Thank you," Y/n whispered before they walked out.
As they walked down the aisle all eyes were on them. Y/n kept her sight forward. When they got to the end Bucky kissed her hand and she walked up the stairs to her spot.
The song changed and everyone stood up. Peter began to walk down the aisle and scatter flowers along the path. Y/n had to admit he did look more graceful than she had expected him to be. He reached the end of the aisle and stood at the bottom of the stairs.
Finally, Wanda started to walk down the aisle. She looked more beautiful than Y/n ever could have expected. Wanda was smiling and giving a small wave to everyone. When they reached the end of the aisle Steve hugged her and help her up the stairs.
The paster cleared his throat gathering everyone's attention "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here in the sight of God, and in the presence of family and friends to join together this woman and man." Y/n was actually holding back tears. It was truly a time Y/n would call a perfect wedding
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."
The pastor told Wanda and Vision to hold hands "Do you Vision take Wanda to be your lawfully wedded wife, to love and cherish, for better or worst, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health from this day forward?"
"I do." Vision said.
"Do you Wanda take Vision to be your lawfully wedded husband, to love and cherish, for better or worst, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health from this day forward?" The pastor repeated.
"I do," Wanda said.
Peter walked up the stairs and handed Wanda and Vision each other's rings. Vision placed Wanda's ring on her ring finger and Wanda did the same for Vision.
The pastor spoke once again "I now pronounced you Mr. and Mrs. Maximoff husband and wife. You may kiss your bride."
Wanda and Vision grabbed each other's hands once again. They leaned in slowly. Right as their lips were about to meet there was an explosion.

Wanda was sitting on top of the examination table while Y/n inspected her wrist. Wanda complained about soreness in her wrist after long missions and Y/n finally had time to look.
Y/n took a roll of athletic tape and wrapped it tightly around Wanda's wrists a couple of times "How does that feel." Y/n asked.
Wanda began to move her fingers around and summoned a small ball of light. She played with it for a few seconds before she let her hand drop "Good."
"Good. So I'll send in an order for your brace and it should be here in a few weeks and if that one doesn't work I'll just bug Tony until he could make you one."
"So what happened after you and Bucky went upstairs." Wanda wiggled her eyebrows suggestingly.
"What? Nothing, that was nearly three weeks ago." Y/n grabbed her iPad and clicked a few buttons.
Wanda's eyes light up red and then she let out a quick gasp "Oh my god! He was going to kiss you. Why didn't you let him kiss you? He likes you!" Wanda hit Y/n in the arm.
"Stay out of my head witch! He doesn't like me. And if we did kiss it would have been completely unprofessional." She stated firmly. Y/n didn't really want to talk about it.
"Unprofessional my ass. I wouldn't blame you if you had a little crush on him. I mean look at the man."
"Wanda can we literally talk about anything else? Like your vacation. You were gone for nearly a month tell me about that."
Wanda narrowed her eyes telling Y/n she knew what she was doing but she let it go "It was fun. Spent a lot of time at the beach, had tons of drinks, Vision proposed, we—." Wanda said it so quickly Y/n almost missed it.
"Vision proposed? Why didn't you tell me? We could have pushed this appointment off for a later date. Let me see the ring!" Y/n exclaimed.
Wanda rolled her eyes and smiled. She stuck out her left hand. Sure enough, right next to her middle finger was a ring. The band was gold and in the middle was a big red ruby. Y/n wasn't sure how she didn't notice. Especially when the whole appointment was about her hands and wrists.
"We'll now the cats out of the bag I have something to ask you." Said Wanda.
"Okay, hit me."
Wanda broke eye contact with Y/n. She looked around the room almost nervously "I know we haven't known each other for the longest.  but I was wondering if you'd be my maid of honor?"
Y/n's jaw fell slack. She was gapping like a fish. She couldn't believe Wanda would want her to be the maid of honor rather than Natasha. She didn't even think she would go to a wedding let alone be a part of one. "Yes of course I would love to!"
Wanda's face broke into a large smile "Thank god. I was so nervous that you would say no."
Y/n pulled Wanda into a hug "I would never. I'm so excited for you. When is the wedding?"
Wanda's face fell slightly and she gave a nervous laugh "About that. It's in two weeks."
Y/n blinked "Wow, that's really soon. How are you going to have time for an engagement party? Or a bridal shower?" Y/n didn't know if anybody actually did those things that's just what she had seen in the movies.
"You know how it is as Avengers, we can't guarantee a tomorrow. So we figured why not two weeks instead of two months. Plus I don't need those things." Wanda said a little bummed.
Y/n put her hands on her hips "You know what? Don't you worry your pretty little about it."
_
Y/n walked into the living room. After Wanda had left her office earlier that day, Y/n had begun to google what things people would have at an engagement party. She found lots of fun, cheesy games, and activities to do.
Y/n walked over to the table and grabbed her keys. Bucky was sitting on the couch reading his book and then an idea struck her "Hey Bucky you wanna go shopping?"
Bucky flickered his gaze over to Y/n "Sure, what for?"
"For Wanda and Vision. They just got engaged and I want to throw them a nice party." She grabbed her keys and bag off of the table.
"Doesn't Tony have people who usually set up parties and stuff?"
"I know but I want to do it myself. To make it seem more heartfelt." Y/n was pretty sure it was the maid of honors job to do these types of things.
"Alright." Bucky shrugged. He marked his page and set his book down on the new coffee table.
Y/n and Bucky step into the mall. She wasn't a big fan of malls. They were too much open space, too many entrances, too much everything. The only good thing about malls was there were plenty of exits.
"So what exactly are we looking for?" Bucky asked.
"Anything, partyish I guess," Y/n said lack of a better word. Y/n would have rather have gone to target, but there it was overpriced and cheaply made.
"Well, how about party city?" Bucky pointed to the other side of the mall.
"We could try it." Y/n shrugged.
They crossed the mall and walked into the store. They split up going down different aisles in the store. Bucky said he would look for table cloths and utensils and Y/n would look for decorations and games.
Y/n found cute streamers and balloons. She decided that the color theme should be red, well because Vision was red. Y/n found a banner that had interchangeable letters to spell their names out.
A shadow cast over Y/n, she looked over to see Bucky giving her mischievous smile. "Look at the decorations I found."
He moved his hand from behind his back and handed the package to Y/n. She looked at it and snorted. It was a table cloth of the Avengers. or more specifically Wanda and Vision "There is no way we are getting that."
Bucky scoffed "Don't be such a bore, I think Wanda would get a kick out of it. And it matches the theme you picked out." he waved the package in front of her face.
Y/n rolled her eyes "Fine, but if she hates it that's on you." She did have to admit, the table cloth was kind of adorable. Y/n took the package out of Buckys hand and chucked it into the cart.
Y/n grabbed a few more things off of the shelf and she began to move the aisle once again while Bucky pushed the cart. Y/n gasped, she pulled something off of the shelf and threw it into the cart. Bucky looked at what she threw in there and then at her "A crown, really? And I thought my party planning is terrible."
"What wrong with it. I thought it was fitting." Y/n crossed her arms.
"Yeah maybe for a princess party."
"well excuse me I've never been to an engagement party. or basically any party."
Bucky put up his hands in mock surrender "I've only been to my sister's so I'm not much better off than you."
"Yeah well, my brother didn't even invite me to his." not like she wanted to go anyways.
Bucky's eyebrows shot up "I didn't know you had a brother."
Y/n pursed her lips "Were not really on the best of terms." Understatement of the century. Bucky shrugged.
They continued to shop and checkout. They went to a few more stores to get what they couldn't at the last. After a few hours, they finally got back to the compound. They carried the bags up the stairs. Or mostly Bucky with his metal arm while Y/n grabbed a couple to help. She figured using a metal arm was cheating.
Y/n set the cake on the table and turned to Bucky "We got little under two hours to get everything set up before Wanda and Vision get back."
"Oh, so I'm helping set up too now?" Bucky said jokingly.
"Obviously, the decorations aren't going to put themselves up." Y/n teased back.
"As you wish."
Bucky began to set up the table cloths and streamers while Y/n decorated the cake. She attempted and yet failed at writing in cursive. She would admit that cake decorating wasn't her forte but it's the thought that counts. right?
Y/n set out party hats, party blowers, and confetti. She put out the snacks she had gotten from the store out and she ordered tons of pizza because she didn't want to even attempt cooking. but it didn't matter Tony was paying for it anyway. Even if he didn't know.
"Why did you become a doctor?" Bucky asked.
"What?" Y/n looked over to him while she blew up a balloon.
"What I mean is for some reason you don't strike me as the doctor type of person."
Y/n blinked. Why did she become a doctor? "To be honest with you I don't even know. I guess it just made the most money."
Bucky laughed "Really? I was expecting something like you wanted to help people and do some good in this world or something."
At that Y/n laughed "No not necessarily." she smiled "What did you want to do before you got drafted I mean."
Buckys eyes widen "How did you know I was drafted."
"Your Service number starts with a 3 and that means you were drafted. Did people not know that. I'm sorry." now Y/n felt awkward. she just brought up someone's past trauma when she asked what she thought was an innocent question.
Bucky shook his head "No it's fine. I just thought it was funny that not even steve knew I was drafted." she shrugged and started to blow up her balloon again. They continued to set up the decorations while Y/n occasionally chocked on the glitter inside of the balloon.
Finally, they were done and took a step back to admire their work. It slightly looked like a kid's party but they tried. "I think it looks good," Bucky said.
Y/n noticed the corner of the banner was starting to fall. Without giving it a second thought Y/n grabbed her knife and threw it at the corner. The knife hit its mark pinning the banner to the wall.
"Where did you learned to do that?" Bucky couldn't hide the surprise from his voice.
"My dad was a pretty avid knife thrower." that wasn't technically a lie.
"He taught you well. You have really good form." He breathed.
"Yeah I know or else he would use me as target practice." that wasn't a lie either. Y/n touched the scar on her ear that she got when she had missed the bullseye.
Bucky looked back at her wide-eyed. Y/n shrugged and laughed. He probably thought she was a sociopath. And he wouldn't have been wrong.
The rest of the Avengers started to come down to the common room. They all mingled and talked waiting for Wanda and Vision to get back. Of course, Y/n had to yell at Sam and Clint to not eat the food a few times.
FRIDAY alerted them that they were coming upstairs. Y/n turn off the light and ushered them all to their places. Once they stepped into the common room she turned back on the light and they all yelled "Surprise!"
Wanda's face shifted from terror to shock to happiness. She looked at the banner that read Cheers to your engagement Wanda and Vision.
"Thank you, guys!" Wanda beamed.
Y/n walked over to Wanda and placed the crown on top of her head "Congratulations Wands."
"Thank you so much. And the crowns really cute."
Y/n looked over to Bucky "Told you so."
