CONFESSION:
I inherited a 3 acre parcel of land and while looking up tiny homes I came across these modern capsule homes and I immediately yelled "colony settlements!" They really looked like something out of Mass Effect.

Got really sick...Confessions will resume in a few days
I probably mentioned this before but my brother in law and I run a very successful party/catering business. We recently did a kids party and a few days later we both got sick because some parents evidently let their sick kids come to the party. It hit us both hard with a high temp, cough, body aches, nausea, etc but was worse for my bro in law since he hates being sick. (Its a chef thing)
And no it was not Covid as we tested for it but whatever it was completely drained us.
We're still not feeling great and now my brother and my guy have it and we feel bad because they were taking care of us.
This experience has also made us decide to only do parties for those 16 and over from now on since its apparent a lot of parents out there can be thoughtless. (We found out several others became sick as well along with our client who paid us)
Anyway I just wanted to let you know and apologize for the blog not being updated. Everything will be back to normal soon. Thanks for understanding. -SMC

CONFESSION:
I'm taking a cultural anthropology class and was doing a paper on the rise of female characters in videogames and when looking at the trailer version of femshep, she sort of reminded of Sharon Osbourne and I don't know whether to feel confused or amused.

CONFESSION:
I loathe a lot of artificial intelligence stories. Discovery Season 2, Westworld, etc drive me up the wall. But I love EDI. I think that it's because she's designed to be what she is, rather than a comical yet lethal programming error.

CONFESSION:
I'm so fascinated by the kett. What percentage of the Andromeda galaxy have they conquered? They don't know how to build Mass Relays, but they've adapted for lengthy journeys anyway. Their twisted ideology clearly started before they reached the stars. I want to know more about them. And defeat them, of course.

CONFESSION:
No matter what happens with ME5, I'll always have Mass Effect Andromeda to replay. I hope that ME5 will be something that I'm willing to play (so, not locking us into the Destroy ending; that would be someone else's game) and not a resurrected Shepard or something like that. I have a lot of faith in the team ... but I worry about higher-ups meddling.

CONFESSIONS:
I was watching this really weird 70s science fiction film and some of the design of the city reminded me of the citadel and it made wonder if the developers were inspired by it

CONFESSION:
I've always disliked the idea of Shepard being dead - and then a hate group bringing them back. Whats worse, Liara, who Shep can be romatically involved with, cooperated with the group to get their remains to the Lazarus Research Station. It just seems such a strange solution for 'we need time to pass between the titles and need a good reason for Shep to be away from all their friends and not know what happened to any of them or what is going on'
And its not like the project is really explored either. Like there are so few implications drawn from it. Shep is asked about some things from the last game (To confirm some game choices) and then thats that. Sure I know the whole thing comes back in the DLC - but then its treated as a one off as well. I mean imagine if Shep was plagued by the doubts of them being a clone as well - or not knowing if they came back right.
You are told Shep is full of implants now - but you literally have the choice to erase the scars forever and never worry about it again! I just wish this was explored more. Like, it kind of reminds me of the body horror of Aliens: Resurrection where Ripley (the galaxy's savior) comes back wrong. How about reaper tec being used in bringing Shep back? Or discovering a cloning facility at the Colleactors ship? There's just so much that could have been done aside of just 'They died and came back like jesus'...
It's such a shame BioWare didnt really choose to explore this further.

Hi there. I'm the confessor from today's confession. I am so sorry for the error. I meant Citadel dlc. I sent you a trespasser dlc confession at the same time.
No worries confessor. I should have spotted the error but your confession was made around 3 am and I am a zombie at that hour. Mistakes happen. Oh an incidentally I have a Trespasser submission that came in not complete. The last word is 'when'. If thats from you, please message me privately. Thanks

CONFESSION:
It amuses me to think that that during the Trespasser DLC when all that shit was going down, Diana Allers was in her quarters in the Normandy, totally oblivious to what was going on and doing reports. And she was still there when Shepard and his crew were partying in the apartment.

CONFESSION:
I really liked Bray and how Shepard earned his respect in the Omega DLC. And while its terrible the reapers annihilated the majority of the Batarians in the beginning of the onslaught, I still can't muster much sympathy for brutal slavers and its always annoyed me that so many in this fandom have conveniently forgotten that they practiced slavery. I guess its just easier to blame everything on humanity.

CONFESSION:
While it did take a minute to adjust, I will say I did enjoy the upgrade in weapons from ME1 to ME2 and ME3 (weapon mods were grand.)
Sure, I did miss the spray and pray style of ME1 in 2 but having ammo matter in a fire fight? Loved it.
Though for weapons in general I was always fond of the AR, specially when the Mattock was introduced (Avenger before that). Never really used the sniper rifles unless it was the Widow if I get it. Never once used any of the shotguns, mainly because I hate close range combat and the pistol was either in use during the awakening or if I ran out of clips for all my other guns. The SMGs in ME2 though... wasn't a fan. Either a 3 burst trash or a 5 burst one (Locust was alright, better aim atleast), with not enough hitting power. Did kinda wish they had added a upgraded SMG along with the other weapons in the Collector Ship.
In short? Assault Rifles all the way.

CONFESSION:
I've always been mostly neutral when it comes to Liara. I think it could be interesting to see an older version of her but I don't want her to have any daughters and I am certainly not interested in hearing her deify Shepard. I don't want her to constantly evoke Shepard's name on what they would do in a situation. I guess those are my main concerns when it comes to the next game.

The only positive thing I can say about Alec Ryder is that he at least acknowledged in one of his recordings that he was a horrible parent/father. The majority of shitty parents in real life never do.

CONFESSION:
Mass Effect had a profound, emotional, artistic impact on me. But as I look back, I cannot fathom how I could like it. The trilogy keeps contradicting itself and creating giant plot holes, often between games, sometimes within games.
For example, if the Collectors were available, why didn't Sovereign use them in ME1, and instead went on to slowly build up armies for years, as far back as the Rachni war? If he did so because the other Reapers were asleep, why did they woke up between 1&2? If they are close enough to physically go to the Milky way in less than a year, why didn't Sovereign just went back to wake them up himself? If the Alpha Relay is enough, why not focus there rather than the centre of the Galactic community? The final boss of ME2 looks like a human, but every other reaper is squid like.
We can discuss character, choices, gameplay, propaganda, and ideologies all day long, but at the end of the day, Mass Effect is a huge incoherent mess.
And it discourages me to participate in it anymore.
