1. does your oc have any motifs?

if i'm understanding the question right, he definitely does! that specific shade of blue of his horns and tail with the pink glossiness is his main motif. that blue is very representative of him since it's the color of a unique material used for his body. it's unfortunate that pummel also has that same blue..

i guess his horns count too? it's another thing that's characteristic of him in particular, what with him being a demon and all

Do you have any art tips on creating your own art style?

You'll never draw with 100% consistency, embrace that and if you're like me, encourage that 

I find drawing with pen helps a ton with accepting inconsistency in my own art 

If there's something about your style you don't like, you can change it. You don't need to stick with a brand of art style. You have the power to do that and you shouldn't feel bad about it.

If there's something you don't know how to draw, draw it anyways and as badly as you can. Then look at other artists and "Keep Drawing Bad" until you eventually don't.

Really look at other artists, especially those who are not in your brand of art. 

Love anime but hate modern art? Too bad go learn about it 

Into landscape paintings? Check out architecture 

Doing the same 3/4 character poses? Look at vintage posters or magazines ads

What you put into your mind is what can inspire you to draw new ways. I suggest going to library and museums for this sort of thing, trust me you'll find that one artist no one has heard about that you'll feel connected to.

And the most important, draw for yourself. While it might be fun to mimic an art style. You might set yourself up for a stressful art experience if you make it Your Official style. Everyone draws in different ways, giving yourself rules to follow might not work in the long run, especially when you force it on yourself.

That's why when you feel like giving that rubberhose character other eyes than the classic pacman, maybe you should let that feeling take over.

sleep deprived oc lore ramble: the neon district is the zone where most stuff in my headworld happens, and that's where most of the active characters live. it's kinda like if nyc and las vegas were mashed together and existed in a sonic game so it looks a bit cartoony. dandera and harvey have been living there for a while now, but pierce and pummel recently move in at the start of the current storyline. pierce and pummel are their neighbors, and the two couples live on the opposite side of the others' townhouse

nyaya on the other hand has lived in the neon district for longer than the main four, as she kinda just stayed in the same apartment for more than a decade. she's a hermit.. lenny of course lives with nyaya, so he's also a neon district resident

lambent is the most popular club/arcade in the neon district, and an important place in The Lore. mainly because this is where dandy and harv work. dandy's the bouncer and harv is part of the wait staff. neech is the head of the wait staff and harv's manager. i have this crt-headed kobold character who's in development hell who's the head of tech maintenance. there's also levvi, who i haven't drawn in ages but they're the usual dj

nixxo, the character from the piece linked at the start of this post, is the co-owner of the club and a live performer (the other owner has art and a design so outdated that i don't even wanna mention him LOL). cake is another usual performer as well

well that sure was words. if you're ever wondering about my ocs and you happen to have toyhouse, i have a lot of stuff about them on there. it's hard to draw out the lore cause of slow drawing speed so i often write it instead .. i do wanna make more comics. i just need to figure out the layout of lambent..
