Helloooo!
How are you? I hope well.
I had been in the mood to read Lilysander and found myself reading—yet again—your story “If You Had Wings”, and was not able to not notice the little reference you make here:
“One of the creatures nips her on the arm, though not violently, and draws a little blood. Hagrid is there in an instant, reaching for her arm. He looks desperately worried, but Lily bats him off and lets herself bleed. She looks the hippogriff right in the eyes and, for a second, she swears it’s like a mutual understanding has passed between them.”
Funnily enough, in that same school year, Draco had been hurt by a hippogriff just like Lily, but the outcomes and reactions are completely DIFFERENT. (And the way Hagrid reacts just shows that he has been traumatized !)
If only Lily knew, HA! She would totally brag it on his face. And Draco seeing this is just too funny to me.
hello!!! i am well, busy with university, the usual!! i saw your wonderful comment on ao3, thank you
you know lily would never let him live it down !! i love that moment, i'm glad it stood out to you too <3

Sometimes self-care is rereading your favorite fic and shouting aggressive praise at the author.

Hiiii! How are you? I hope good.
So, I love your "If You Had Wings" short story on Ao3.
Lilysander is one my FAVORITE ships ever, and seeing a story about them warms my heart. There is not enough stories about them, so I have decided to take the issue in my hands. I have an ongoing story called "Not My Year" on Wattpad and possibly will be posted on Ao3 too. But before I continue to write it, I wanted to ask permission to use your character Henry Horton.
I'm absolutely in love with your writing and I look forward for more stories of yours! I'm a fan ;)
hi omg that's so nice!!! it's my favorite fic i've written. and yes lily/lysander are such an underrated ship!!!
as for using horton, go for it! just don't forget to give me a shout out ;)
message me the link, i'd love to check it out <3

i lost almost all of my drafts, all of my writing in nov 2021. 100,000+ words, at least a dozen half-developed ideas, over a year's worth of work. when it happened, i thought oh well -- a chance to start over. but it was actually devastating, in a way that is very silly to say out loud but deeply + privately felt
trying to work on a new project now + it feels like trying to grow a whole new set of legs. i've been out of fandom for six months (combo school + losing my writing) it's like am i even good at this anymore is there even space here
i've got so many fun ideas and i will put them to the page in due time, but gosh. it is scary to look at a blank document and know that what's going to come out of your fingertips is rust

now since tumblr apparently loves to support non-american authors, but is surprisingly mum about this, imma tell you.
you see, everybody's favorite evil corp, Amazon, bought Indian publishing house Westland some six years ago. Now Westland is a very famous and reputed publishing house in India, and has put forth some of the best titles the country has seen. It didn't shy away from controversial and uncomfortable topics, and some of its books quite vocally criticise the current government, which has been responsible for the current state of india as a pseudo-democratic, pseudo-secular, economically ruined country, the most notable one being The Price of the Modi years by Aakar Patel. It also produced Amish Tripathi's pathbreaking Shiva Trilogy.
Now here's the thing that got me nuts.
AMAZON. SHUT. IT. DOWN. A WEEK AGO.
JUST OUT OF THE BLUE, IT IS CLOSING DOWN WESTLAND FOREVER. NOBODY KNOWS WHAT IS TO COME OF THE HUNDREDS OF TITLES PUBLISHED BY IT, OR OF THE AUTHORS ITS CONTRACTED, OR THE PEOPLE EMPLOYED BY IT.
It has triggered a buying surge in India, as people go on shopping spress to get their hands on the titles they want from this house. Short on supply and high on demand, bookstores across India are showing solidarity and moving surplus books around.
here you go with a few links that i think sum up the problem quite nicely, and please guys. just. please support westland.
here they talk about how this is becoming a trend with global corps.
here they talk about the future of indian publishing houses.
this one talks about a bleak future for literature and how it feels like we're living in a dystopian novel
spread this around. jeff bezos continues to be evil, and will be. he is quite literally, irredeemable.

how are we going to teach the gen z kids that fiction includes bad people and bad things and makes you uncomfortable on purpose sometimes bc maybe the author is trying to tell you something

Maybe YOU can't. I, on the other hand, have critical thinking skills and a lot of spite

one of my favorite stupid things to do in fanfic is to throw two characters together who literally never interact. and then give them an entire, fleshed-out relationship dynamic that exists nowhere but my own head. yes they’ve literally never spoken. yes their relationship is important to me. hope this helps.

Wait I'm actually really curious because I saw it somewhere – what's everybody's default font to write in? Like the font that you always change it to? Put it in the tags because I think it'll be interesting.
