Hey, everyone! Due to the sudden influx of viewers on AO3, the site has had to modify some things, including the experience of guest users and how hits are counted on the site. This is not the fault of AO3 (they're doing their best to keep things up and running for all of us), but if you're a guest user following stories on AO3, PLEASE make sure to leave kudos for your authors to see. We understand it can be difficult to get an account on AO3 (probably more now with COVID-19 leaving people in their homes), but sudden drops in statistics can be inexplicable and disheartening.
Keep your heads up, people. We're gonna get through this.

This is your reminder to not commit art theft by reposting art without giving credit to the artist!!
Reblogging sites like Pinterest, WeHeartIt, etc make it really easy to unintentionally commit art theft but those sites are RIDDLED with stolen art that was posted there, most likely without the original artist’s permission, and without giving them proper credit.
There are a few simple steps to avoid committing art theft:
-avoid reposting sites like Pinterest. Always look for art from the original source where the artist posted it.
- If you do find a piece of art on Pinterest or a similar site, check to see if the link attached takes you to the original source or lists the original artist. If it does, great!! Now you can properly credit the artist from the original source!
- If it doesn’t link the original source, the art is most likely stolen/reposted without the artist’s permission.
- When in doubt, just don’t repost someone else’s work.
“But this art is so beautiful and I reallyyyy wanna repost it to show other people!! Can’t I just say ‘credit to original artist’ or ‘artist unknown’?”
NO! Reposting art and just saying “credit to original artist” or “artist unknown” or anything along those lines is not giving them proper credit!
“Okay, I have this beautiful piece of art that I found from the original source and the name of the artist so I can give them credit, can I repost it now?”
That’s great!! But do you have the artist’s permission to repost it? Usually artists will say in the title/description ‘you can repost my work, but please give credit!’ Or they will say ‘please do not repost!’ If you can’t find that info, shoot them a message and ask for permission to repost their work!
TLDR: don’t repost art that’s not yours without the permission of the artist and giving them proper credit.

i think the funniest and realist thing i’ve realized lately is how troubling idealization can be. every person is just… a person. the very people you want to impress or be apart of are just people. even if they seem wildly intimidating because of the way they look or because of their reputation, every one is just a person. human. as embarrassing, as remorseful and they are going through stages of growth just like you are. we only see what we want to see and then drown ourselves further in our own depression and we don’t have to.

it’s not the quality of your book that matters, it’s how well it lends itself to memes
