I am hunger striking

hi, I’m going to be joining my friends in a hunger strike to protest the injustice and oppression of the people in Gaza. it’s been almost 200 days of forced starvation.

this is a SAFE hunger strike, and if you plan on joining- consult @ibtisams post on hunger striking which has some safety information.

to sponsor my hunger strike, donate any amount of money to Anera, an organization currently providing aid. after donating, send me proof of donation through an ask or a dm (show the date but no other personal information is required)!

my hunger strike will start on the first of May, and i will add an extra day to my hunger strike for every collective $50 donated (you can donate anyyyyy amount). i will not hunger strike for more than 10 days for safety reasons, so i am aiming to have $500 donated to Anera.

As a black adult do you have any advice for younger black people?

Keep your head up and focus on your people.

For our entire lives, whether to our faces or in the media we were always berated on. Always the butt of the joke, bottom of the pit. After all the fighting to get a voice, we have ended up using that voice against our own people rather then uniting and rising up together.

The ones who are praying on your downfall, are always your own people. Keep your chin up, being black in this world, is the most precious and gifted thing ever.

The eve gene, being the most diverse race, mother to all of humanity, our very bodies are connected to the earth. Look at the texture of your hair, like the leaves and roots of the earth. Africa has over 3,000 languages, traces of African American decent traces back before white colonialism.

Remember, you're one of a kind baby. Everyone can straighten up their hair and whiten their skin. But, who else can repliacte and rock dark skin and an afro?

The day we as black people, come together and stop hating on one another is the day we take back the riches that was rightfully ours.

Do your best to connect with your community, decolonise your mind, stop worshipping the white man's God. Look into your ancestors, connect with them, empathise with them, thank them. Because of their blessings and suffering you stand here today. Go back to the roots, connect with the motherland Africa. Learn to love your natural hair, your skin, your culture, your food, your language.

There's so much beauty to you, not many told me that when I was young. I want nothing but for this younger generation to thrive.

For those who don't know, Rafah Crossing is closed. Meaning Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are technically not allowed to go into Egypt through Rafah Crossing (with exceptions, like holding a foreign passport) so in order to evacuate, Palestinians need to bribe Egyptian border security officials. The standard price used to be about $5000 - 7000 per person but some Palestinians have been told to pay $10,000 per person just to cross the border, forget other expenses like food and boarding.

For a group of people who are enduring genocide and the complete destruction of their homes that money is impossible to raise without the help of fundraising. That and the collapse of the UNRWA is the reason you're seeing so many Gofundmes nowadays. The entire aid system is gone with the exception of local aid organisations that have limited reach.

So if you see a credible fundraiser, please at the very least share it so it can reach more people. This list by @el-shab-hussein is a good place to start.
