"I know who I love." Kaeya x Alchemist!Gn!Reader
Summary: One of Kaeya's meetings with Y/n, a slightly aloof and reckless alchemist, ends in an accident where you must care for the Cavalry Captain. The unexpected situation ends in a sloppy confession.
Reader Pronouns: None / Gender neutral / You/yours
Content/Warnings: Mention of syringes(Medicine), fever/illness, fluff, confessions, pining
A/N: This was originally something to keep me entertained on the drive home from my vacation and I did not expect to want to publish it. It started as a crack fic so if it seems a bit odd my bad but I don't think it's bad anymore. I've had this done for a few days now Boom here you go take it.
The way I got a request that was flipped (kaeya taking care of sick reader) is so funny to me. Now I get to do both hehe.
(More content below the cut as always 🎀💫)
Tumblr media
Alchemy was always full of surprises. Being one of the Knights of Favonius's best, and specializing in biology and medicine meant that when you were experimenting and things went wrong, they went wrong in the weirdest and potentially dangerous ways possible. The materials you worked with were meant to affect the human body, so most thought you would be more tactful. Truth be told, half of the time you were lost in thought which has resulted in a number of alchemical accidents. Of course, to you these were learning experiences and more things to take note on, but often for the victims of your experiments, these accidents were far less casual to them.
Often while working with substances that risked harmful vapors and smokes that could affect you or others, you locked the door to your lab, but being the rather airheaded scientist you were, it appears you had forgotten that day. A knock at the door before it swung open, revealing the tall good looking cavalry Captain.
You barely noticed him enter, as he sorted through a stack of papers he was dropping of for you. "Lost in your own world again, huh Y/n?" He was clearly amused with the intense focus you held on the vials in your hands. Unlucky for him, his unexpected entrance snapped you back harshly to reality and you fumbled the beaker.
"AH-" there was a smattering of glass as you drop the two beakers, startling as you turned to face him wide eyed. "Kaeya?! What on earth-" but you barely had time to tell him off as the two strange liquids began to sleep together a shimmering mist filling the air around you. You had a mask secured around your face but Kaeya wasn't so lucky. He coughed a bit and waved the smoke out of his face rather annoyed as he handed you the papers.
"I didn't know you were so up tight." Kaeya set the papers down on a mostly empty table. You dropping a few instruments was nothing new to him.
"How did you get in?" You asked, ignoring his teasing mostly worried about the iridescent smoke still hanging in the air.
Kaeya laughed. "Am I not wanted here?"
"No not at all but..." You trailed off slipping into your thoughts as you approached him. You grabbed his chin with your hands pulling his face towards you. He looked slightly confused, as he raised an eyebrow at you, attempting to back away but you held him in place.
Skilled fingers brushed his hair out of his face, checking his eyes, mouth, and skin for any abnormalities. If the vapor in the air had any immediate affects, you would notice them here. Kaeya seemed to simply give in, he had come to accept the alchemists to be an odd bunch, and he didn't much mind the chance to tease you about the whole ordeal.
Kaeya would often volunteer to be the one to bring you papers, reports, messages, and even coffee sometimes for a chance to talk to you. At first it was for his own amusement, you were slightly odd but your were genuine and social compared to other people in your profession. Your relationship grew into something else, not exactly friends as the cavalry Captain got on your nerves quite easily, but he was also very easy to talk to. He had heard of other people getting wound up in your alchemical disasters, but had yet to find himself in one until today. These short errand runs had eventually become trips to lunch or dinner, and occasionally he could convince you to drink with him. Underneath your friendly banter, was a crush that you did your best to ignore, mostly taking his flirting for an odd sense of humor.
He let you have your way with him for a minute or two before you muttered to yourself under your breath. "Well he doesn't seem to be dying, at least not yet." Before reaching for his eye patch to check his other eye. Kaeya grabbed your wrist, stopping before you could remove it and stood up.
"Yet?" He asked. He glanced at the shimmering steam and then to your mask . "Ah, I have a feeling this wasn't meant to be breathed in at all." He chuckled, but you sensed a light nervousness in his posture. You were close enough that you noticed the subtle changes that often conveyed his mood.
"Absolutely not. I actually have no idea what this is isn't that interesting?" You crossed your arms thinking. "The two solutions were supposed to be quite harmless but even the least competent alchemist could tell you that means nothing about how they will mix. You se-"
Kaeya cut off your rambling. "Perhaps we should quit standing around in it then?"
"Oh... OH!" You nodded your head, grabbing his hand and dragging him out of the lab, having momentarily forgotten he was possibly in danger, and took him into the space outside, which was more of a study. You shut the door, pulling the latch shut, settling to deal with the vapor later.
You pushed him toward a raised bench gesturing for him to sit on it and he complied, if a little hesitant. He watched as you began shuffling around your office, searching for some tools.
"Mind telling me what was in that?" He said pointedly. You had always been slightly scatter brained.
"I would have if I knew myself." You said nonchalantly pulling out a syringe and a thermometer and making your way back over to Kaeya. You loosened the straps of the mask off your face and took it off, the air cooling the skin which had grown warm. You adjusted your gloves before beginning to rummage around your office.
'Perfect. Just perfect.' he thought as you shoved the thermometer in his mouth with a bit to much reckless abandon for somebody who worked with dangerous chemicals all day long. He eyed the syringe hoping it wouldn't be inserted into him with the same enthusiasm.
"One of them uh- well contained a dormant version of a virus, I can tell you that much." You checked the thermometer, giving a satisfied nod before removing it from the Captain's mouth. Kaeya watched you glance at the syringe with a frown before hurrying back to your drawer until to return with a larger one. He couldn't help but wince involuntarily at the idea of it.
You filled one syringe with a blueish liquid, leaving the larger one untouched for now.
You raised it inspecting it for a moment before taking kaeya's arm. He opened his mouth to say something but you started talking before he did.
"This is a comparable to a dye. It will help me locate any changes or unnatural bodies in your blood stream." You gestured toward the other syringe. "Thus the larger needle, to remove blood. If you like I can numb the skin in your arm before i-" you cleared your throat and stood back up. "Well actually I should have asked if your okay with this first." You said a bit awkwardly. You tended to be a bit gung-ho in your practice in general, and you tried to keep that from carrying over to your medical work. You noticed you tended to make patients nervous, even if by accident.
Kaeya had never seen you look so... embarrassed? You had your eyes down turned and your ears were red. He was used to you being rather reckless and doing what you wanted, you were smart and usually it was the right thing to do. But now you were- "Sorry, I got ahead of myself." You said with an added 'again' under your breath.
Kaeya hummed observing you for a second before agreeing. He couldn't deny the fact you may have poisoned him was quite worrying, and he let you carry on with the procedure. Of course, he couldn't miss the chance to tease you about this. "Your face is red- are you blushing?"
"Probably just from my mask. No worries." You pushed forward and Kaeya sighed, his teasing yet again had no affect.
He did not expect your medical care to be so gentle. Unlike your all in attitude towards chemistry, you were focused and gentle while you carefully took a small sample of blood from his arm, before setting the tiny vial in a box on your desk.
"you're quite the nurse, maybe I'll come back if I ever get myself injured." He said standing up from the desk.
"Don't do that." You said simply. "That would most likely end in you dying." You were aware of the rather dangerous, unorganized, state you kept your laboratory in and weren't keen on anyone other than yourself taking refuge in it.
"Worried about me? How sweet." Kaeya looked down at you, tilting his head slightly. You met his gaze unphased by the comment.
"Of course, I just practically poisoned you. I don't want you getting hurt, even if it was your fault for coming it without knocking." You crossed your arms, convinced of his carelessness but he scoffed.
"Oh but I did, aren't you supposed to lock your door? He asked.
"Ah.. hah." You gave a small embarassed laugh as you realized he was right about this.
You sent him off, telling him to come back if he ever felt odd, generally unwell, or noticed any unusual physical changes. You promised him to find him if you found anything odd in the blood sample, and with that Kaeya was off.
Such were his meetings with you, odd and typically unpredictable but he had learned to enjoy them, and your quirks and banter. And until later that night he thought nothing of it.
°•°
It was dark and Kaeya was in his own home getting ready for bed when he started to feel unbearably hot. Hoping a cold shower would fix it, he headed to the bathroom, despite having already showered that evening. Turning he caught sight of himself in the mirror. He noticed the odd pallor to his skin, and propped himself against the sink running a hand through his long dark hair. Had he gotten sick? There was nothing unusual about today but- oh. There had been something odd about that morning. The memory of the incident in your lab came back to him and he sighed sinking his forehead into his hands. That would explain the spinning of his head, the shakiness of his aching muscles. Perhaps it was best he went to find you again.
Kaeya pulled on his shirt again, taking the crumpled fabric from his bed and hastily pulled on his boots nearly tripping out his front door. The streets were still well lit, and he meekly returned the greetings of passerbys as his headache pounded with each step. He spotted the Favonius headquarters, meaning he was getting close to the building you stayed in as he did his best to hold himself upright.
Kaeya pounded on the door to your lab, panting and hot, relieved when he saw the door open to reveal you.
You stood in the threshold, in shorts and a pajama top, with a coat and your shoes thrown over haphazardly clearly about to leave your quarters yourself. You didn't look tired, despite the late hour as you met Kaeya's slightly desperate gaze as you both stood there silently for a moment.
"I was just about to come find you, so are you dying?"
"How... Straight forward." Kaeya couldn't keep the edge out of his voice. "Dying? I don't think so, but you definitely did something." He gave a weak laugh and you took one of his arms over your shoulder letting him lean into you as you helped him into the room, sitting him down on the same cushioned bench as earlier. He rested his elbows on his knees, head in his hands as you went off to grab him a cup of water. You couldn't help but feel slightly guilty at his condition, after all it really was your fault for leaving the door unlocked. But then again, it was that stupid Captains fault for always butting in on other people's business.
You returned with the water and seeing the usually cool and composed Kaeya a disheveled heap of messy hair and haphazard clothing ushered back the guilt you had just shoved away. You sat down next to him, pushing back his bangs as you pressed your palm against his forehead. The man leaned into the welcome feeling of your cooler hand against his scorching forehead.
"Doesn't take a thermometer to tell you have a fever." You sighed.
Kaeya couldn't help but notice the droop in your usual enthusiasm as you handed him the cup of water. He nodded his thanks, taking a sip. "I could have told you that much myself." He grumbled.
You let your hand trail from his forehead to his cheek. "Lucky you caught me on my way out. Not only do I have something I think should help reverse the affects but I also have no idea where you live." You were obviously unaware you had left your fingers laying against Kaeya's cheek and he bit back a remark about how aloof you could be even while he was getting sicker by the second and instead settled for; "Well then, perhaps I must invite you over sometime. I'm sure we could enjoy a lovely glass of wine together."
He didn't bother mentioning you had definitely been by his place before on errands for Jean, but it was like you to forget such things. He recalled how you mentioned mundane tasks hold no space in your mind next to alchemy.
You snorted taking your hand off your cheek and settling them on your hips. "How do you have the energy to say such things and not to sit up straight." You flicked his forehead and he winced, giving a short laugh.
"I'll always..." He yawned the fatigue starting to catch up with him. "Always have enough energy for you Y/n." He gave a lopsided grin.
You were sure if he had no patch over his eye he would have winked at you. Clearly whatever chemicals were having their way with his mind were driving him insane you thought, but something about the uncharacteristic softness of the remark made your heart flutter. Ignoring this familiar feeling you handed him a small plastic cup of what looked like cough syrup.
"Here- medicine." You held out the cup and kaeya looked at it apprehensively.
"To be clear you think this will work." It was more of a statement than a question. He scrunched his nose. "It smells... Awfully bitter."
You rolled your eyes. "What, would it work if I bribed you with some sweets? I worked hard on this."
Kaeya took it still looking slightly disgusted before raising the syrup like a drink glass, giving cheers, and downing it. He handed the cup back to you immediately reaching for the water glass and taking a long drink. "Tastes as awful as it smells."
"Small price to pay for weakening whatever chemicals you inhaled earlier today." You looped one of his arms back over your shoulder and stood him up. At this point the heaviness of his eyelids was apparent and he looked about five shades paler. "Though it'll take a bit for it to start working. You should get some rest." You said softly. It was clear he would not be able to stay present long enough to get home, and you settled on letting him stay in your bed. You were a bit reluctant as you thought you would probably end up on the couch.
Kaeya let out a "Hm," his head resting against yours. He was fighting the urge to collapse on the spot, but with your help you managed to lead him to and down a small spiraling staircase that seemingly lead to a makeshift bedroom/living space. Kaeya had always known you as slightly distant, focusing more on your work than anything else and despite his rather unpleasant ailment, he was enjoying this softer side of you.
You helped him settle into your bed. "Sorry it's not made but, I doubt you care in this state."
Kaeya looked like he was half asleep already. His words were slurred as he muttered some unintelligible response. You snorted. "If I didn't know better I'd say you were drunk. Are you?" To be honest the possibility was not low. You knew Kaeya was a regular at Mondstadts taverns.
Kaeya frowned considering the question, his eyes foggy and distant. "I don't... Think so?"
You laughed in earnest this time, sliding a couple pillows behind him for support. He kept his gaze fixed on you, but you weren't even sure if he was seeing you.
"I don't know if I've ever made you laugh before." He gave a weak smile as took his discarded boots off the bed and set them on the floor. "But I guess I get through to everyone eventually." You threw your eyes to the heavens. The fact he was still trying to be smooth whilst he practically burned away in your bed was amusing and annoyingly in character.
"Sorry that I don't find relentless flirting funny. Maybe you should get some new jokes if you wanted to make me laugh." You said, but you couldn't help smiling as he rolled over in bed frowning at you.
"Who said they were jokes?" He said. The steadiness in his voice surprised, and you pressed your hand to his forehead again and sure enough the fever persisted.
"I'm not sure I follow?" You responded. The feeling of your heart beating rapidly had returned and you did your best to ignore it. He was practically delusional, there was no way he was serious. Besides, you shouldn't jump to conclusions.
"I thought you just didn't recognize the flirting." He gave a dry laugh turning his eyes back to the ceiling. The truth was that even in his feverish state kaeya spoke the truth. If anything the strange sickness has messed with his brain enough to let him admit this.
Kaeya had thrown you flirtatious comments at first just as he would usually, expecting you to fluster. But you had ignored them and to be honest, it was quite frustrating. He didn't know why it had started bothering him so much until one day one of his comments really had left you rather pink and stuttering. In that moment he had felt more than just satisfaction at getting you to crack. Ever since then he has been grappling with how to deal with these genuine feelings for you.
You scoffed. "I'm not four, I can recognize what is generally considered flirting." You looked at the man laying in your bed who's eyes were fixed resiliently above him.
"And you thought I was joking." He groaned. The reality that his countless attempts for your attention had been taken for jokes was settling to join the nausea already taken root in his stomach.
"Of course." You made to stand up reaching to pull the covers over him. "Your just about hysterical right now Kae, you should really get some sleep."
Kaeya moved his eyes from the ceiling above to you, noticing how the tips of your ears were red, and cheeks rosy. The smile slowly returned to his face.
"Probably, but not enough that I don't know who I love."
The boldness of the statement surprised both of you as you paused and turned your eyes back to him. He looked strangely peaceful, If not a bit sick, as he gazed at you waiting for your response. You closed you eyes and took a deep breath before returning them to Kaeya.
"I hope you know how stupid you look confessing to me in a sick bed Kaeya." You sat back down on the bed leaning against the headboard. You knew that the alchemy solution that was plaguing him currently shouldn't be messing with his train of thought at all but at the end of the day you were scared to get your hopes up.
Kaeya chuckled. "I'm sure I do."
You sat in silence for a moment. "Just so you know, your sickness is affecting just your blood and is transferable therefore only by blood." You chided yourself internally for how nerdy of a response that was. 'Keep It cool alchemist, you only had to go cite some textbook at him. Very smooth' you thought.
Kaeya raised an eyebrow at you. "Is that so? Interesting." He was clearly amused, though the weight of his confession still hung in the air.
You nodded, making up your mind. "It is isn't it? It's barely contagious." You leaned in, towards him, heart pounding as you gently pressed you lips against his, one hand trailing his cheek. "And I don't even have to worry about getting sick." You added softly. You held Kaeya's gaze as his hand met yours. He laughed.
"Very smooth Y/n. I hope that means you don't mind if I take another then?"
Your breath caught in your throat as he pulled you in for one last kiss, deeper than before. Pulling away you felt your face getting warm, and you knew the skin of your cheeks had reddened.
"You alright Y/n? You look a bit warm are you sure it wasn't contagious." Kaeya said feigning concern and you gave him a reproachful look.
"Shut up, Alberich."
"Awe what happened to Kae? I thought I had already gotten a nickname."
"And already lost one too, funny how that works isn't it?"
Kaeya couldn't help but smile. "Trying to ruin the moment?" He stifled a yawn his eyes half closed as he peered at you through his lashes. You gave a short "Hmph." Before sitting up. The friendly banter you two enjoyed previously was definitely not going to be ruined by the promise of a new relationship.
"You should really get to sleep now. Sickness doesn't cure itself afterall." You sighed making to stand up but soon you felt the weak grip of Kaeya on your wrist. He gently tugged you back towards the bed.
"Stay."
The softness of the request gave you butterflies. It really was rare to see Kaeya in a spot of vulnerability like this. You nodded, and slipped into the bed next to him. You felt slightly awkward at first but soon kaeya has rested his head against your chest and you found yourself subconsciously holding him close, one hand in his hair, the other at his back.
And with that, Kaeya finally dozed off. Maybe love could be one of the best medicines after all you thought, as you drifted off beside him.

NOTES + BONUS
The next morning is definitely slightly awkward.
Kaeya will be a big baby about being sick and cling to you while you try to process the fact you had a confession, first two kisses, and shared a bed in one night.
Kaeya thinks it's perfectly normal. You love each other after all
(are you two even dating yet?? You are short circuiting).
A/N
I love, dorky science geek x charming man kaeya dynamic so much ehe.
This?!! Was originally a crack fic where the reader turned kaeya into a CATBOY. All thanks To my friend for that terribly amazing idea. I finished this??? In ONE DAY?? usually it takes me like, 2 weeks! Whoah the things no wifi can do for my focus.

hi hazel! congrats on the new blog hehe :> could i get childe and you sleeping together but you (or him!) start hogging the blanket ^-^ tytyty!! have an amazing night!
Shivering, you turn onto your back and search with sleeping hands for the edge of the blanket. When you don’t find it, you begrudgingly sit up, hands slapping, sliding, and grasping for fabric that isn’t there. That is, until you feel is curled up around the only other person in the bed with you.
Groaning, you reach your arms over him, his own grunt making you irritated in your tired state. “Give this.” You demand, tugging at the blanket. You don’t give up until you’ve succeeded and lay back onto the bed.
You settle, sleep starts to slip over you once again but just as the darkness calls to take you, the cold night air hits you. Again, you twist and pull them back, this time you lock your arms in the blanket because just as you expected the tugging starts.
“Stop, you have like all the blankets.” You reach your arm back and push against him but he doesn’t stop. “Are you serious?” He’s so strong, even in his sleep that it’s impossible to hold on. Just like that, the blankets are gone and you’re left in the cold. Staring at the ceiling, you huff, hot air escapes your nose and the creeping cold wraps around your legs. “Fine.”
You get up, walk around to the other side of the bed and start to push him toward the middle. He wakes up, slightly, but you don’t care if he’s confused. Wiggling your way under his arms and into the warmth of the blankets, you settle against his chest. At least this way, with his arms over you, he can keep you warm even without the blanket.

*heavy breathing* omg new blog! Congrats, miss bagel!! <3
Could I perhaps request sleepy kisses with Kaeya, please?
His embrace is the last thing you feel at night and the first thing you experience when you wake up. There are times when he leaves before you, though, on rare occasions, you might awake before him and find his arms still around you. These you hold near and dear to your heart.
When his lips are so close, practically calling your name, you bend to them. With soft, tender movements you press your lips to his own. They are cold, a common feature of the cryo user, but they are just what you need. The action stirs him from his sleep and his arms tighten around your body, pulling you in closer.
Again, you kiss his lips, starting in the middle before pressing another in the corner of his mouth.
“Morning.” You whisper against him as he starts to pull himself awake.
“My dream was so lovely, and here I find it’s because of you.” He smiles and makes it so your bodies are flush against one another before returning the many kisses you’ve given him already. They are lethargic though not lacking in love, and slowly, they build until there is a shock in your chest and each one makes you more breathless than before.

Hi, could I request a scenario with Kaeya, where he comes home totally exhausted and the reader is there pampering and making him feel better?
Your arms are the only place that makes him feel whole, like the strongest adhesive, you keep him together. He’s learned it’s not safe to trust others, not after the truthful night with the brother who no longer calls him in the way he used to, not after what he’s seen and experienced. Yet, there is something about your arms, your chest, your existence that makes him trust you.
Already, you’ve done so much. Made him his favorite meal, poured him a glass of his favorite wine, and even listed to his silly jokes - you see him like no one else does.
Now, you are giving him the security that even the walls of Mondstadt can’t provide. No matter how tall they may be, there is no comparison to your embrace. So he rests, as deep as he can, he rests against you.
With your fingers running through his hair, down his back, over his arms as he rests his head on your chest; a childish effort to be as close to the heart he shouldn’t be allowed to touch, he rests. It’s not every day that he needs this kind of revitalization, but when they do come he knows you will be there and, for the first time in years, he feels at home.

Giving Kaeya lots n lots of kisses all over his face because he tries so hard every day
“My, my. What ever has gotten into you today?” He asked, hands resting on your hips as you cupped the cheeks that became littered with your affection.
You weren’t sure how you got here, sitting on his lap in his office nestled in the back of the long hallway. You were as far away from prying eyes as you could get and, yet, you didn’t care if any were to see the amount of kisses that you smothered his face with.
Soft lips connecting with the tip of his nose, warm skin against a slightly chilled one, smiling corners pulling tighter the plump lips which pressed against his forehead, along the side of his face, his sharp jaw and pointed chin.
“I can’t say I’m disinterested in the attention, just insatiably curious.” He chuckled, leaning away from you before laughing even heartier when your lips turned into a precious pout.
“Don’t pull away from me.”
“Why ever would I want to do that.” You leaned in but he pressed his finger to your lips and smiled at your furrowed brow response. “I’m merely looking for an answer, I’ll let you go back once you share your thoughts with me.” The corner of his mouth turned into a smirk and you knew there wasn’t a way around his inquiry.
With a huff, you looked away, his hand sliding down to your arm. “I wanted to ...” biting your tongue you tried to nip the embarrassment away, “I wanted to shower you in affection.” With a sideways glance you looked at him, “You work hard and ... well I wanted to let you know that your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed.”
His lips slightly parted, his gaze searching and hands stilled on your body. You weren’t sure what he was thinking and his silence made you squirm.
“What ... say something.” You finally say, breaking the quiet.
“Aren’t you just something else.” He purred, his voice making you shiver. His hands moved from their place, an arm resting over your thighs and the other bending to rest against the desk. “Do go on, it’s about time someone noticed all my efforts.”
With a huge smile spreading over your lips, you giggled before leaning back toward him and starting your path across his face over again. His touch soon found and, when he could take the one-sided affection no longer, he made himself known.

Playing in the ocean with Kaeya?? 👀 but like, fluffy?? 🙏
Kaeya’s laughter was the most refreshing thing you’ve ever heard. More refreshing than a cold drink of water, more refreshing than the ocean waves which moved across your exposed legs, more refreshing than the crispest apples.
You loved the sound of it, it’s richness, it’s lightheartedness, it’s breathe-ability as it fell across whatever space it occupied. It was like air in your lungs, and you practically needed it to survive.
As you followed him to shallower waters, you couldn’t help but notice the way his shirt clung to his skin or the dampness of his hair as he wrung it out with gloveless hands. He was stunning, but when was he not?
“I haven’t had this much fun in a while.” He chuckled, pushing his bangs out of his face, the water dripping down his arms and back into the vast ocean beneath him.
“I told you it would be.” You replied, splashing him with water.
“You were right,” His arms grazed the water as you shrugged, “I should have listened to you sooner.”
“You should always listen to me.”
Wading toward him, you reached out to grab his arm but his quick moves caught you off guard. Suddenly, he grabbed you, strong arms scooping you into a bear hug, your chest pressed against him.
“Are you ready?” He asked playfully, the sparkle bright and devious in his eye.
“W-what are you going to do??”
“Helping you fly.” With a devilish grin, he launched you into the air and sent you flying into slightly deeper waters. You were only under the water for a second before popping back up, your hands moving to your eyes so you could see.
“Hey!” He started laughing again and you quickly made your way toward him. “My turn!”
“I’d like to see you try ...” He crossed his arms and looked at you with a half-cocked smile. With gusto, you wrapped your arms around his waist and pulled upward but found he didn’t move an inch.
“W-hat?” You tried again and found it impossible. Shifting your feet, you hit something solid and that’s when you realized. “You’re cheating! You can’t freeze your feet into the sand.”
“Who say’s I can’t?” The smug expression on his face was infuriating and you shoved him slightly only to be caught in his grip once again. “Ready?”
“Wait! Not faIR!” You screamed as he tossed you again, your laughter filling him with joy.

Once again I repeat, will do anything for him
Imagine wrapping your arms around him, burning you face in his chest, his jacket feels like a blanket and he is so warm. You just can’t get close enough~
Gods xiao might be my favorite, but Diluc making me wanna 🥺🥺🥺
The weather was colder than normal, it must be a cold front moving down from Dragonspine, or perhaps it was the oncoming shift of seasons, an early alert to help prepare for harsher temperatures.
Either way, you couldn’t help but wish you’d grabbed something warmer before you left the warmth of the Winery. Your arms wrapped around your body as you descended the steps toward the well used path. The carts must have arrived earlier when you were still asleep beneath the comfortable covers of your bed, for their were signs of their arrival even if you couldn’t see them.
You followed the path down toward the entrance to the cellar, as you got closer muffled voices drifted toward you and let you know there were many people already hard at work.
Waving at the group, you quickly made your way toward them, your breath slightly visible in the chilly air.
“Good morning.” Their voices were jolly, a nice reprieve from the biting cold at your nose and finger tips.
“Morning, I see you are all hard at work already.” Rubbing your hands over your arms, you looked at the crates and barrels of wine that were being prepared to board the cart. You wondered if it would be able to bare all that weight, but you were sure it would, they always did.
“Yes, there isn’t any time to waist. Today is going to be a busy day, after all.”
“When is it not.” You chuckled, twisting your neck to search for the man who left you alone for the hundredth time. “Where is Diluc?”
“Oh ...” They stopped what they were doing and looked around with you, “I believe Master Diluc was having a discussion with the coachman.” He gestured with his head toward the direction they were last seen and, with a polite wave and well wishes, you headed that way.
As soon as you found them, it seemed the conversation was already coming to a close by the time you got within ear shot.
“Thank you again, Master Diluc, we shouldn’t have any issues now.” The gentleman headed past you, his head bowing respectfully and you mirrored his gesture.
“Ah, what was that all about, is everything fine?” You asked, pulling your hands to your mouth and blowing hot air over your chilled fingers.
“Yes, there were reports of Hilichurls on the roads a few days back and our drivers were concerned about being attacked. They’ve been taken care of it seems.” He looked past you and eyed the progress near the carts, but his observation only lasted a moment before dropping back to you.
“I wonder how that could have happened.” You intoned, the fluctuation of your voice playful.
“Hmm, I wonder.” The corner of his mouth turned up into a small grin, but it was the lightheartedness that flashed in his eyes which made you melt on the spot. You shivered, but it wasn’t clear to you if it was due to the cold or to his loving glance. “You don’t need to stand out here, go back inside and get warm.”
“I know, I just wanted to see how things were going, I didn’t realize it had gotten so cold already.” You squeezed your arms tighter and looked out over the landscape. It didn’t look any different than the warm season, save for the butterflies which usually danced around the grapevines. “I guess I should at least go in and get a jacket.”
“Mmm, that may be best.” When you looked at him, his hand was pushed up to his chin and he looked at you with an inquisitive eye. Before you could question or inquire about his thoughts, he reached for your arm and gently pulled you toward him. The dirt under your feet scraping against your boot as you stumbled forward.
It was an immediate climate shift when you reached his chest. The warmth that radiated off him seeped through your skin and directly heated the parts of your body which screamed for it. It wasn’t until you were caged in by his jacket, his forearms resting against the small of your back and his chin becoming supported by your head, that you realized his intentions.
He had scooped you into the warmth of him, his jacket perfectly protecting you from the weather. It was pure and wholesome, and you eagerly wrapped your hands around his waist to increase the contact.
“How are you going to work like this?”
“It’ll only be for a moment. I can’t have you catching cold now can I.”
“It wouldn’t be very gentlemanly of you.”
“It wouldn’t.” The sharpness of his jaw was replaced by a comfortable pressure, and you imagined he moved to rest his cheek against your head. When you were substantially warmer, he let you go, practically ushering you back into the winery and, since you stubbornly decided to be of assistance, he made sure you were properly dressed before the two of you made your way back into the chilly outside.

kaeya letting down his walls for the first time since that incident, and the reader accepting him regardless and knowing how it’s been hard on him
He told you everything, from the secrets of his past to the night he wished he could forget, or perhaps try again, to the ultimate goal that weighed on his shoulders. It was heavy, incredibly and you could tell the pressure had been a burdensome one for many, lonely years.
You'd never seen Kaeya so muted in all your interactions with him. The normally confident man, the one who smiled even with things were challenging, the one whose hands were always there to offer you a pull in the right direction - your direction - the one who you loved without any concerns to the contrary. He was still the person who captured your heart, even if right now he seemed less than his normal self.
"Heh, well, now you know all of me. Are you sure this is what you want to get yourself into?" He looked at you, his head only slightly tilted but his eyes desperate as he peered through the hair that fell into his face. "The door is open..."
He dreaded it, the thought of you leaving him. His mind faltered, the words he wanted to say, "I won't hold you back," stalled on his tongue for he knew it was a lie. How come this lie was the one he wasn't able to finish.
You took a moment, just a singular one to gather all the information he had just shared with you into the right places. So, this was the real Kaeya.
With a nod of your head, you moved from your place and made your way toward him. The spot next to him was cold but not as cold as the cryo user's entire existence. You hoped your warmth would fill both him and the space, so, with careful consideration, you reached for his hands. The way they tensed when you gripped them broke your heart, did he still not trust you?
"Kaeya," he didn't look at you, soft fingers reached for his chin and pushed his face into your direction. "Thank you for telling me. To think you carried this on your own ..." Your hand spread to cup his cheek and he leaned into it with unexpected vulnerability.
"I want you to know, I'm not going anywhere. Till the very end, even if it's just you and me against the whole of Teyvat, I will never abandon you."
"That's not a very wise decision, I still don't know what the future holds."
"No one does, but what I do know is the hand that holds me, the eyes that look at me, the heart," You paused, pushing your hand against his chest, "the heart that loves me. All of these are constant, steady. That will never change."
He didn't reply, he didn't speak, he just reached for you and took you in his arms. It was almost childish, the way he embraced you. His arms wrapping around your chest, head pressing against the space where your heart pounded for him, and body bending to become as small as it could. You leaned back until the couch caught you, and in the soft light of the room, you held him reassuringly in your arms.
"I love you, Kaeya." And he replied with a squeeze.

Diluc laying on top of you, his head in crook of your neck, you playing with his soft locks and him falling asleep after a long day but you don’t dare to move a muscle so you won’t wake him up. Also maids making their way to him just to tell him something, but when they saw how peaceful he is, they just turn around and leave the two of you alone.
Your fingers ran across his back in slow, steady strokes. Fingertips resting, sliding, and floating over the well-worn shirt while you shifted underneath him.
His cheek rested against your chest, warm breaths heating your clothes as he slept soundly. It was the first time in days that you'd actually gotten him to take a moment, to stop. It only worked because you offered him your warmth, your comfort, and he was more inclined to comply.
Every once in a while, his fingers twitched against your shoulder. The overworked hand that lay protectively against you, thumb against the crook of your neck, fingers draped over the curve reminded you of the constant surveilence he practiced. It was as if he feared you'd slip away from him while he was sleeping, that if he didn't stay awake he'd lose everything he held close.
The weight of him as he nuzzled against you, torso against torso, legs extended under lose covers, head directly within reach to place one soft, or many, soft kisses onto. Even with the incredible weight of him, it was comforting beyond imagining.
Your hand found it's way into his hair and as you breathed deeply, chest pushing with stength to help him rise and fall above you, you found it hard to keep your eyes open.
A diligent maid found their way into the room. Their grace making them almost impossible to detect if you didn't already know them by heart. They rested a few items on the desk and gave you a heartfelt smile. Looking at the two of you, two soulmates embracing, protecting.
With a polite bow of their head, they carried themself from the room leaving you alone once again.
The sound of proper footsteps disolved into the old wood as the door closed behind them. Distant, muffled conversations and birds chirping in the windowsills outside were enought to remind you that time continued to pass by; somehow, in this room it seemed as if it stilled - time had no barring on you right now.
Out of all the sensation that pulled at you, covered you, it was the smell of the man resting on your chest that was the strongest. You never knew that there was a scent which so perfectly described this moment; the feeling of home.
