Personally, I don’t consider Hartmann’s words to be the ultimate truth either because he’s far from the only person in control of the show.

It’s pretty clear that some ghosts were created as “green blobs”, monsters with no backstory. However, We also see a bunch of ghosts with an idea of what their life was like when they were alive (Poindexter)and how they died (Cujo). So I’m totally sold on died = ghost.

But seeing as Danny is a half ghosts that leaves a bunch of options that will forever be up for debate and neither will be truly “true”.

- He died in the portal and was “revived” as a Half Ghost

- He didn’t die, otherwise he would have become a full ghost, he was merely exposed to too much ectoplasmic energy

I think as a form of storytelling the first one IS cooler. But it’s not really canon still, is it?
