Steve walks through the garden, squishing leaves and fallen fruit under his recently shined shoes and staining the bottom of his crisp white pants. He grabs your hand tightly, tugging you into his chest as a few strawberries fall with the abruptness. “I looked everywhere for you, and you’re out here with him—I told you to stay away from him.”

“Calm down, Steve.” Ransom smirks, “Bunny just wanted to show me her plants. She’s a good little gardener.”

“Shut up.” 

You shiver at his sharp tone. “Daddy—”

He grabs your ear, forcing your head closer. His blue eyes are narrowed and cold, chilling you to the bone. “When I tell you something, I expect you to listen. Or else what are these ears for?” He hisses, then pulls you to the house by your arm. “You’re tempting me to lock you up again. Do you want that?”

“No, daddy.” You whine, not daring to glance over your shoulder at the other man. “No locking up…”

“Then, listen to me, obey me when I tell you to do something. If you don’t listen to me, I can’t protect you. Do you want those bad people to come get you again? To steal you away and hurt you?” 

In a few seconds, you’ve got tears running down your cheeks. Your ears go slack as your head bows in shame, “I’m sorry, been bad.”

“You’re crying now? What have I told you about crying?”

You immediately look back up at him, gazing into those clear eyes through blurry vision. “Always look at daddy whenever cryin’—”

Steve tilts your chin with his finger, growling lowly as the tears stream down your cheeks, some fall into the corner of your lips. He resists kissing you right then and there, because kisses were only for good bunnies, you haven’t been a good bunny. 

“That’s it, show daddy how upset you are.” He jerks your face closer, dipping low enough to press your foreheads together. He watches your eyes shut and your lips tremble. “What a sad bunny, huh? You don’t like crying because you're sad, right?”

You make a quiet noise, clutching his shirt in fists. “Only like crying for you…”

“I know, bunny, I know.” Steve doesn’t let your little whimpers deter him, you deliberately disobeyed. “You know what he’ll do to an innocent thing like you?”

Steve saved you from that nightmare, offering you a dream clad in white curtains and delicate lace, tender touches and the hungriest of kisses. 

“He’ll be so mean, and Andy too. They’ll breed you like a whore and not in the loving way daddy always talks about. They haven’t had a pretty girl like you in a while, they’ll rip you to shreds.” Steve is stiff as you fall into him, “you’ll end up just like the others. Nothing but a hole to breed.”

You cry harder into his chest, your tears staining his shirt, “Don’t wanna be like them…”

“And you won’t.” Steve promises, leaning away as you weep. He softly rubs your ears and down your back, delicately brushing his fingers through the fur of your tail. “That’s why I saved you, bunny. I took you away from that life, and I’ll give you everything you’ve ever wanted if you're good.”

You remember how scary it was—just sitting in the bus on the way to the facility. The silence was the worst, everyone was too fearful to speak up aside from quiet sobs, nothing could stop the inevitable fate of your kind. 

That’s all according to Steve anyway—you had no clue of your unlawful destiny until he had explained it. You were raised in an orphanage, always sticking out like a sore thumb because of your ears and tail until a bus arrived to take you away. 

No one ever said a thing about the underground industry—much less how prominent it was in civilization. The amount of wealth and power circulating that intimate yet vast circle. 

The cruelty, the objectification. It hurts you so deeply, down to the root. 

All that time ago, Steve had a business meeting, being one of the biggest names in the breeding industry, he had many partners and clients to keep happy. That day, a Tuesday in the middle of June, you had walked off the bus with nothing but the clothes on your back. Alone, huddled in the middle of the group as you were led into the building. He was smoking on a balcony a few storeys up, the smoke flowing into the air as his eyes were drawn to you like a moth to a flame. 

He didn’t even realize his cigarette had burnt to the butt. 

He’s never bought a hybrid before, preferring to work behind the scenes, handling loads of cash, trading lives like playing cards and growing an empire. But, there’s a first for everything. In this case, a first and last because he’s never going to let you go. 

Not even to his closest and recently-released-from-prison friends. 

“You’re so special, bunny. Don’t let just anyone have you or touch you, especially some lowlife like Ransom. Andy isn’t as bad, but you don’t want to know what’s happened to the bunnies in his care.”

That’s what made Steve different to you. The truths he’s twisted and planted in your head have grown into flowers of faith that bloom for him only. 

Steve wasn’t like the rest of the people in the industry, he cared—at least that’s what he tricked you into believing, when that compassion is only reserved for you. 

You think he treats every bunny with as much kindness and gentleness, but no, he’s one of the worst. He couldn’t care less about the rest of the hybrids in the industry, he only cared enough to get you out of it. 

A pretty thing like you wasn’t made to only make babies—you were made to be kept, coddled and controlled, and ultimately owned. Not to be thrown aside when a more fertile subject comes along. 

Steve’s hand moves to your front, barely slipping between your thighs, “People can sniff out your purity like dogs—it should be protected.” From others, but not from him. 

“Gonna give it to you, Stevie…” you confess shyly, growing nervous under his hard stare. “Remember? That’s why I have this.” You gesture to the collar around your neck, the little flower charm hangs delicately, and unbeknownst to you, a subtle yet functional tracking device. 

“I do remember, sweet girl.” Steve could never forget the night. 

Full of slow, languid kisses, soft ‘I love you’s. That was also when he had to tell you about sex. You were as naive as they come, and a sick man like him took great pride in being your first for everything. He initiated but you didn’t return. He would have taken what he wanted but you had asked in the most innocent voice: “you make me happy, Stevie. Here and here,” you point to your head and heart, then finally between your legs, “and here… if makes sense? Haven’t felt that way before…”

Right now, you're getting those tingles again.
