Is there a gang problem in your area? The city of Rochester has a horrendous gang problem. I live in the suburbs so I'm pretty ignorant to it but I know enough.

Do you make your Starbucks order more complicated if it isn’t busy? My orders are never that complicated to begin with.

Would you date an already attached person? Been there, failed at that. I've had many unsuccessful relationships with men who were already attached to other women, or just attached to certain behaviors or lifestyles that couldn't accommodate me.

When was the last time you slept in a tent? It's been ages. And I really have no desire to do it again.

What brand of make-up do you prefer to use? I'm not super brand loyal. I like a little of this and a little of that. But I have a lot of faves from Clinique, that's a trusty standby, and Covergirl and Revlon are my drugstore go-tos.

Do you have any siblings and if so, what’re they like? I have two sisters and the three of us couldn't be more different. But our distinct personalities mitigated a lot of sibling rivalry. We all kind of existed in our own spheres. Growing up, my older sister was a rocker girl and rebel, I was the creative bookworm, and my younger sister was the athlete. Of course, our identities have evolved past those simple stereotypes but that's the gist.

Is there anything significant happening this month? My cousin's getting married tomorrow and my friend is having a baby any day now (possibly also tomorrow)!

What all did you eat today? My sugar cravings were so intense this morning that I had to have a handful of cookies as soon as I woke up. Then I had leftover stir-fry for lunch, some almonds and goldfish as afternoon snacks, then pizza and stuffed cheesy bread for dinner. And now I'm enjoying some bedtime candy 'cause again, sugar cravings.

What is one change you need to make in your life this month? MORE! WRITING! I want need to dedicate at least an hour a day to some solid, uninterrupted, uninhibited writing.

What was one good thing about today? I was offered a promotion! I also hosted my first-ever "Lunch n Learn" presentation. And then I went swimming and then came home to eat pizza. A perfect day, if you ask me.

What’s been tugging on your heart lately? Well if ya REALLY want to know... I've been thinking about my future children a lot lately. I feel compelled to start a journal or something for them. It just feels like the right time.

Are you comfortable with who you are? Have you accepted who you are? Sobriety has helped me feel SO much more secure and just plain happy with myself. Glenn's been a tremendous help, too, over the years. So I'd say yes.

All the money you ever need or someone to spend the rest of your life with? Well I already have my soulmate sooo, how 'bout that money? :)

What is the last thing you did that made you feel guilty? I cut a corner at work. It wasn't *technically* wrong but it wasn't the most right move, either.

get used to casual glamour. you don't need to wait for "deserving" times to indulge. have glam as your basic setting. get your nails done, do your hair, wear your expensive makeup and perfumes, take that bag out. wear those silk pajamas and eat that fancy food. casual glam sets a standard for you. make it your new normal.

Sometimes I'm reminded that patriarchy painted romance in literature as the sub-par genre because it highlighted and prioritized compassion, kindness, compassion and just. People treating one another nicely. And I get so fucking heated bc you know what-

Feel-good pieces of media get such bad rep for being "unrealistic " and " not depicting the real world in it's true colors''. But if we're talking fiction, if things can get 100 times worse, why can't they get better, too?

I can't explain how invalidated I felt and still feel when I see stories and characters meant to portray softness and goodness as qualities instead of disabilities get shit on by people who think they're "womanly" and " feminine" therefore the worst thing to be.

I love romance. I love stories with exaggerated, over the top plots. I love cliches that make me smile like a dumbass. I love cheesiness. I love sappy love confessions. I just love love.

And if you don't, that's fine. But I'm really asking people to understand that " humanity and love is inherently bad, hurtful, cruel and ruthless and it'll never be anything else other than that" is tired. Sheesh.
