listening to the Crisis movie part 1 episode, and just wanted to shout-out the Legion animated movie that came out last year! It's the introduction of Kara in the Tomorrowverse, and features a lot of focus on her and Alura, as well as a very cute rivals-to-lovers story between her and Brainy, which as a Karadox shipper I really enjoyed seeing.
also I think Kara shows up as Harbinger in the end of Justice League Warworld, which was the most recent Tomorrowverse movie before this one.
Yes! Thank you! I knew I remembered a Legions focused movie, and enjoying Kara and Brainy’s rivals-to-lovers development. Just didn’t realize at the time it, Justice Society (and a whole list of other movies) were connected with Crisis as the Tomorrow verse. It was kinda fun watching Crisis, like finding reverse Easter eggs. Lol. Now I have to go back through the list and find which other movies I think I would enjoy based on storylines I found interesting in Crisis. 🧐 any suggestions?

Do you have an ep schedule now that the dc shows are no more?
Sorry for the delayed response. It’s not a precise schedule for sure, but there are a couple “targets” on our list, including Ge V finale and other shows.

Y’all made a good point in the podcast about Cecile getting a suit while Allegra didn’t. (Unless we count that black leather as a suit.) Because why make a whole storyline about Chester making Allegra a suit and then just not finish it out, but instead Cecile just gets handed a suit? And then to cut out the scene where Allegra’s superhero name was revealed, but we get a dumb one with Cecile instead? I don’t even really care that much for Allegra, but her superhero arc felt more earned that Cecile’s, and they just never followed through on it. The amount that Cecile has gotten propped up is… weird. Does Dani have dirt on Eric or something?
Sigh. Anyways, another note, thank you all for the podcasts and everything! Appreciate all the hard work y’all have put in over the years 🫶🏽
This is a late response (I’m so sorry!), but yes it makes no sense why Cecile gets a flashy suit and storyline and Allegra is treated like an afterthought especially after they spent so much time trying to make fetch westallen 2.0 Chellegra happen.
And thank you for listening to the podcast and sticking with us! It means so much! 🫶🏾

Far be it for me to ever compliment Eric or Todd, but I will say the ONE decent thing they managed to do was pair characters up in A, B and C plotlines and change locations. Not that they did it that well or consistently, but I didn’t realize until I started rewatching seasons 1-4 this summer how many episodes were either split between Star Labs A plot and a much smaller not-Star Labs C plot, or just everyone hanging out at Star Labs together the entire episode.
Episodes where Iris and Barry got to be in the A plot alone without the hanger-ons was not really a thing until like season 5. Episodes where characters actually got to leave that godforsaken set was also not really a thing until season 5 either. Up until that point, Barry and Iris were the only characters who ever seemed to have anywhere else to go, and that was when they went home.
There wasn’t nearly enough of those episodes, and the Westallen loft seemed to disappear and reappear at random, but I have to admit the introduction of the Citizen set and the reemergence of the West house was a welcome change of pace. Even when the most annoying and unnecessary characters would randomly be hanging out there uninvited.
Thank (Candice probably, and the fandom) for the inclusion of the Citizen set. And the opening up of the sets to allow us to see more of a central City and beyond S.T.A.R. Labs was really healthy direction for the show, and I really wish they had invested in the world building more. The plot line where they like blew up S.T.A.R. labs was like the best, but they never fully committed. Kinda said we didn’t get more interaction from the city. Eric would throw in one Citizen episode and expect us to eat it up and not bother him again for the season. Talk about:

I was mildly annoyed that we never got the payoff of the “we’re gonna need more diapers” line! I for sure thought that they were going to make iris give birth to Bart too and have Nora and Bart be twins and Barry to be like woah two babies we don’t have enough stuff and then say the line like why did Eric betray us like that we were supposed to get that line!
I remember sharing that sentiment with Swara ahead of the finale because he had seen it already, and I was like “please tell me we get this” and he hit me (telepathically) with one of these:
Tumblr media
Because he was like “el-oh-el that you would give Eric that much credit to remember or care about that foreshadowing.” 😭

Grant reposting everyone’s finale/goodbye posts except Candice’s… sigh. At least he posted some photos with her, but excluding her from his story reposts still feels odd. But then again when has he ever acted normal about her?
Can’t speak for Grant’s mindset or intentions on why he *missed* her post, but at least from the fandom perspective, Grant is nothing if not consistent.

Been awhile since I’ve tuned into the flash and sent in feedback, but I have so many thoughts about the series finale and I’m so curious to hear you ladies lay it out, as you always tell it as it is. Might send feedback this week too - Paulina
It was so nice hearing from you again, Paulina. I hope we made sense. I feel like I was jet lagged and tired. Probably could go into more depth once some time has been removed from the show…

Feedback with Gumption: Sonia enjoyed Wally's return, Bloodwork, and reintroduction of the multiverse in The Flash 9.09
Hey Ladies,
This episode of The Flash was so well done, I didn’t even mind Oliver being there because when I heard he was going to be in an episode I was worried but it was actually really well done!
I have also always loved Ramsey Rosso as a villain and thought they didn’t utilize him enough when he was on the show and you gotta love Sendhil Ramamurthy, right?
So glad to have Wally and Dig back but I wish we could have had Joe in the episode too. It kinda sucks that we get Wally back and we don’t even get a scene of Joe and his son
Love the scene between Singh and Kramer where they are arguing about who makes the better captain, a human or a metahuman and Barry is just like “Uh can I leave please” lol
Poor Wally having to see his childhood with his mom and her addiction and feeling like Barry “stole” his life and whatnot it made me so sad and I could understand why he chose to join Ramsey, the same way Barry did back in Season 6 when he joined Ramsey
I love how Nora’s healing factor was helping Iris but did they really have to lock her in the time vault the entire episode? Why couldn’t she help fight ugh
Also it was a bit too convenient for Chester to be normal because he doesn’t drink when he easily could have just had the sparkling cider that Iris had lol
Oliver saying “Let go. Barry let go” was hilarious as was the “You’re dead because why would I let you hug me that long” comment lol
Khione is really good at using her powers now, where she was able to freeze all the water in everyone’s bodies, expel Ramsey from Dig and how she sensed that she was needed at Star Labs when she was in line at the bakery. Love how we also got sort of an explanation of her powers how she can tap into the natural world
Poor Barry having to deal with Oliver, Frost and Caitlin’s deaths. Also I hate that they brought up the fact that Oliver saved his mom, Tommy, and Lance and that he was sad he couldn’t bring his dad back but they never mentioned Laurel like wtf y’all
But anyways, the fact that bringing his dad back to life would change too much is similar to Barry not being able to bring his mom back to life
Love the Arrow-esque fight sequences!
It was nice that Dig got to see Oliver again and how Oliver told him he’s been keeping an eye on them and he was proud of Dig for not taking the Green Lanterns powers
It was literally so dumb that they all woke up and whatnot and we got this scene where everyone’s like “Where’s Allegra?” And she comes out and then no one is like “Where’s Iris?” Like wtf lol
The scene between Wally and Iris was great where Iris surprised Wally by knowing his Buddhist beliefs and she says “What? I read those long-ass emails you send me” lol
Also I like that Wally realized that it was better for him to find the enlightenment within himself rather than taking a shortcut and finding a version of himself who has become enlightened because it’s just like Barry running to future to see what he’s supposed to do rather than figuring out himself because then you don’t grow at all
The multiverse is back and all the shows are done but still yay lol
Can’t wait for the next episode! Won’t have any feedback for it thought since I’m going on vacation on Saturday and won’t be able to watch live but it looks amazing!

Feedback with Gumption: Jo really felt Joe's absence, but nice to see other familiar faces in The Flash 9.09
Joys:
It was nice seeing some familiar faces that haven't been here in a while. It was great to see Wally again, and him having personal scenes with both Barry and Iris. I liked that Wally had a little subplot that explored his struggles. Nice to see Singh, wish he had more to do though.
Bloodwork is not really one of my favorite villains, but Sendhil always kills it in his performance, so I did like seeing him return.
I'm not a fan of Arrow or Oliver, but I did like seeing the Barry/Oliver bromance again. They play well off each other.
The callbacks and meta references to the Arrow-verse were cute. That scene with Bloodwork as a director was weird but funny.
No Joys:
Wow, I really miss Joe; he should have been here.
Again, not an Arrow fan so I didn't need yet another episode of The Flash dedicated to Arrow nostalgia.
What is up with all these flashback clips?? Literally the only people still watching know all that already!
It is odd to have this plot with all these reunions and a big threat to the multiverse, but yet it was contained in this mostly standalone episode. This should have been a two-parter instead of one of those pointless "interludes".
I hate how this particular showrunner wants to make Barry guilty and/or responsible for things that were not his fault. Frost and Caitlin's deaths are on them because of their stupid decisions! I get Wally's feelings about Joe and Barry, but I still don't think that's something Barry needed to apologize for.
Nomination for LWG: Fetus Nora for protecting her momma!

Feedback with Gumption: Sonia had all the time for WestAllen, could've done without Chellegra in TheFlash 9.08
Hey Ladies, I really liked this episode as it was nice to see Barry and Iris working together and some glimpses of the future with the Flash Museum. Apart from the Chellegra storyline, this was an amazing episode! I knew straight away that the electrician was the time thief when she referred to a “breaker box” as the thing with all the wires even called it a “breaking box” after Iris said the right name lol but it was still an interesting plot and very well done with the people getting turned to statues and whatnot I loved Iris talking about the pregnancy and Barry being there for her and her constant obsession with food the entire episode
Within the Chellegra storyline, I thought the Scrabble slash “Za is not a word” thing was funny but honestly, how many times are we going to get a “I don’t know how to feel because everyone left me” storyline with Allegra when it comes to her relationship with Chester? I feel like we’ve already had at least three just like this lol I also liked Cecile for once when she made Allegra see that it doesn’t matter that everyone she said “I love you” to has left or died or that it might not work out between her and Chester because she can’t keep focusing on all the bad things that have happened to her in the past or all the ways things could go wrong in the future and to just focus on the now Glad Allegra and Chester worked it all out so that we don’t have to suffer through the storyline for any longer the same way their slow burn nearly killed me lol but did not need that “I know the perfect way to help you work off that energy” line near the end of the episode because gross/cringe but also why do other characters always get innuendos and makeouts and Barry and Iris get so little ugh Also speaking of the end of the episode, I thought that scene with Khione and Westallen was super cute because the “Do I like cheese fries?” Line was just so endearing idk what it is about Khione but Danielle P’s acting is actually good for once lol It was also hilarious how Khione was basically “I need strong female role models and to eat dinner with them so Iris you up for it?” Showing that she considers Iris a role model because yes I agree lol Can’t believe we have to wait until the 26th for a new episode ugh. Until next time! -Sonia

Feedback with Gumption: KJ points out the repetitiveness of WestAllen's S9 arc in The Flash 9.08
Hello to all of you
Flash this week was an enjoyable, yet frustrating episode. In a vacuum, this would be considered an enjoyable episode with time travel shenanigans not caused by Barry for once. The inspectors never thought to come to the lab in 9 years?
Of course Barry revealed his identity to them...although it did work.
Candice was very good in the pregnancy brain scene.
The frustrating thing is that all these character beats from Barry and Iris have been a storyline in what feels like every single episode this season. We get it already.
I was confused at such a short episode...the entire episode was Barry and Iris with little cameos from the rest of the characters. Don't get me wrong I'm for it, but I am surprised there wasn't a redundant boring B plot with Chester professing his love for Alegra or something.
KJ
P.S....can we erase the next episode out of the time stream before it airs?

Feedback with Gumption: Anita appreciated the WestAllen focused, campy whodunit structure of TheFlash 9.08 Partners in Time
My feedback starts with news: Give us the redacted spoiler about that final scene between Barry and Iris, TVLine. We need it for science!
I'm hoping that "Wednesday Ever After" and "Partners in Time," share a common thread leading to a big story with a big bad, like Iris suggested. At least that way we'll get a payoff for the third filler episode of a 13-episode season.
The episode structure was perfect: Barry and Iris framed it. The useless side characters were kept to a minimum, and they only reappear for short wrap ups. Although I could've done without any of Allegra's flashbacks. It wasn't that deep.
A time thief is a good story concept for The Flash, and wrapped in a whodunit makes it a little campy, which is fun.
I wanted to tell Iris that "no one in Star Wars wears those uniforms, Sis!" Other joys include Iris protecting her food and giving the suspicious eye to Jane. Clearly Iris needs to hide her husband, because word is starting to get around Central City and the ladies are catching feelings for Barry.
Side note: The Flash seems to enjoy turning normal functional abilities into powers. Like did we need Jane’s “excellent spatial retention” to tell that the massive, chiming antique clock in the state-of-the-art speed lab wasn’t there before? That's just someone's memory after skipping the edibles with a Red Bull chaser, and getting a good night's sleep.
Dr. Tannhauser is better than me. I would not casually welcome the latest byproduct of my ex-husband’s quasi organic experiment when my own daughter was obliterated! If this had happened to Iris I would ride at dawn. But as such, I disliked every iteration of Caitlin. The character and the actress were allowed to get away with undermining Iris/Candice for eight years in an integrated way, so suck it crackshippers!
For the love of all things holy! No one needs Cecile’s empathy powers to read the tension between Chester and Allegra. Also, I don't need Chester and Allegra's start-stop relationship. And please give me a character whose response to losing people is to try really hard at relationships instead of being emotionally stunted. Also Cecile's mind reading was intrusive. Adults are allowed the privacy of their confused, childish emotions. Anyway, what can they learn from a divorced woman estranged from her oldest daughter and who is working on failed family #2.
My one prediction is that I expect to see that Time Magnet again as part of a bigger story.
Lady with Gumption nominee: Iris for facing her fears about her changing body and cognition, and then giving The Flash an assist to save the day.

Wait, did they ever actually explain why Eddie had to be resurrected in 2049? Why couldn’t the NSF resurrect him in the present year, especially since he ends up there anyway?
I don’t think so? I think it’s because that’s where the singularity spit him out. Like I don’t think the NSF chose where Eddie ended up. It could just resurrect him and protect him in a cocoon of lies until it could manipulate the situation enough for Eddie to confront barry and want to accept becoming its avatar.

I’m not sure how much I buy “scheduling conflicts” being the sole reason for Carlos not being on the show this season. I definitely believe it more coming from his mouth than Eric’s, but I don’t think it’s as simply as him just being unavailable. His show wrapped filming last fall (or earlier), which would’ve been shortly after The Flash started filming S9. Not to say he hasn’t been busy since, because I’m sure he has. But he wasn’t filming his show anymore, so that specifically shouldn’t have been an issue. I have a feeling that instead of seeing when Carlos would be available during the season, Eric was waiting to try and bring him in for the finale, and Carlos was unavailable for that specific time (his show was releasing around that time).
You make some good points because, if Eric wanted to include Carlos he could have at various points this season when he was bringing on every other actor in the Arrowverse to guest star on the final season. Having Cisco react to Caitlin’s death/Khione’s birth, Barry’s birthday, etc.
He could’ve easily dedicated one of his precious filler eps to bring Cisco back so fans could see him doing well and thriving and giving us a glimpse of the character’s life after the show, but Eric seems determined to take credit for S1 nostalgia without honoring any of the S1 characters or character dynamics that made the show a hit in the first place.
