I am extremely proud to announce that I have joined @astro_society_of_the_pacific team as administrative support for @nasa's Eclipse Ambassador program! And if you want to volunteer as an #EclipseAmbassador, there's still time to apply at the link in bio! In 2023 and 2024, two eclipses will be cris-crossing the US. In an exciting new partnership, amateur astronomers will partner with undergraduate students to get the word out to local audiences. Eclipse Ambassadors will bring outreach programs to underserved audiences in local libraries, colleges, schools, and other community organizations, preparing 500 communities to enjoy the awe and wonder of solar eclipses. BREAKING: #Jupiter has a new count of 92 moons, breaking #Saturn's record of 83 🤯 From @skyandtelescopemag: The biggest planet in the solar system now has the largest family of moons. Since December 20th, the Minor Planet Center (MPC) has published orbits for 12 previously unreported moons of Jupiter. More publications are expected, says Scott Sheppard (Carnegie Institute for Science), who recently submitted observations of the Jovian system taken between 2021 and 2022. The discoveries bring the list of Jovian moons to 92, a hefty 15% increase from the previous tally of 80. fucks me up that by total coincidence the sun and moon's size difference is exactly matched to their difference in distance from us, thus making our beautiful total solar eclipses where you can see the silver threads of the sun's corona possible because the moon just covers the sun completely

The stars (literally) aligned just right for this experience to be possible. It's likely that aliens don't have this
