I’m so tired of every show that takes place in the past (wild west, medieval, pirates etc) ALWAYS having so much sexual violence towards women like writers can cry “oh it’s realism” all you want but it’s very transparent how realism only applies when you want to hurt women on screen. sometimes i'll see gaymers and pop feminists praising a female character design for being "groundbreaking" and "shattering expectations for gender expression, and traditional beauty standards " and than i'll look at the female character design and it has like. maybe a 6 pack. or slightly wider hips, or like. an undercut. while still wearing makeup, being skinny, having big boobies or otherwise not looking radically different from your other safe traditionally attractive female characters, and it's like "come on guys have higher standards" and than out of curiosity i'll see what people outside of my progressive internet bubble are saying and it's just gamers complaining said female character is "mordbidly obese/looks like a man" and it's like. oh right.
