It's hard not to recognize that overreliance on cameos is weakening current day Star Wars shows. Of course it's a nuanced discussion about how the franchise has long been self-referential and leaning into the motif if, "it's like poetry, it rhymes" but modern Star Wars doesn't understand how to make it part of the theme instead of just there for nostalgia bait and it's leading to weaker sto--HOLY SHIT IS THAT A DARTH VADER GUEST APPEARANCE!? MY TRASH MAN IS BACK!!!! UNFOLLOW ME NOW THIS IS ALL I'M GOING TO TWEET ABOUT FOR THE NEXT WEEK!!!!
like someone's mutation is being able to breathe in mars' atmosphere but since they are a teacher well. its not like they'll find out. a doctor that is immune to the solar radiation from outer space. a gardener that can communicate with the fish from the twilight zone area of the sea but cannot withstand the pressure. these people will probably never find out they're mutants even if that doesnt make any less of one. idk what point im trying to make im just thinking about these people
im thinking about if there had been mutant technopaths in the pre-computers era then nobody would have known they were mutants. i wonder how many modern mutants could have a similar situation and if professor x or someone else would even know how to find them. i also wonder how many seemingly normal people suddenly "turned" into mutants and how they managed that yk. huh

"came back wrong" you could not come back wrong even if you tried. you've changed, beyond recognition, but while my eyes may not know you, my heart still does. i love you.
“Rex was loyal; not just the professional, soldierly kind of loyal, but personally loyal. He knew what might happen if his general was caught being out of the loop—a loop he really should have been in. Anakin just hoped Rex didn’t know why. Do I, though? I think Rex would understand. Of the few beings I feel I owe an explanation about all this subterfuge, he’s one of them.”
— Anakin Skywalker thinking about how Rex is one of the few beings on the galaxy he feels he owes an explanation for lying about his secret marriage. No Prisoners by Karen Traviss.
