im curious - do you have any radioapple fic recs?

I am going to be super disappointing here and have to say I actually really haven't read many and none recently. 😭 I have a lot going on at work right now so my personal time is at a premium and I have time to write or read, not both. When I'm not so focused on writing, I'm sure I will go back and read some. I've seen lots of recs, but I really haven't had time to do more than glance at anything.

Crab/Crawfish Boil! Coloring the food was a challenge of "what shade of Copic Marker is this?"

The last time I had a Crab Boil was in… middle school? My friend’s mom dumped the whole thing on a giant plastic sheet on the dining room table and it was DELICIOUS. Definitely made an impression, that's for sure!

Ooooh boy I hope this latest installment leads these two to finally sit down and TALK. Or at least drop-kick them in the right direction. Im loving the drunken-Luci shenanigans, but i also find myself wanting to grab Alastor and SHAKE HIM like a snow globe. Which is unfair to Al, considering they are both equally to blame for the wonky state their relationship is atm. But here's the thing, the story is from LUCIFER'S pov, so we can see that he's aware of how he's messed up and hurt Alastor, and he feels guilty but doesn't know how to fix it. We get to SEE that.

Alastor is the walking mystery who may or may not realize how much of a prickly capricious hypocrite he is. Alastor is the one who may or may not realize all the hot-and-cold mixed signals he's been sending and his tight-lippedness regarding things not pertaining to his deal haven't been helping clear things up between Lucifer and himself.

So yeah, Alastor being the one growing increasingly weary of hiding and seemingly pushing Lucifer is some sort of direction on the matter without even acknowledging that he's just as much to blame, makes me want to SHAKE. HIM.

But also...Luci hon, you better remember this in the morning. Al needs to hear you repeat certain things while sober😭🥺

Ohhh, that's the most fun part of writing from a limited third person perspective. We have no idea what's going on in Alastor's head, made all the more complicated by the fact that he's ALASTOR. I'm not sure everything in his head would make sense even if we did get his POV. (Okay, I know what's going on in his head but i don't count. 😂)

But also...Luci hon, you better remember this in the morning. Al needs to hear you repeat certain things while sober😭🥺

Gosh, I sure hope he remembers...plus the night isn't over yet. 😏

About the AO3 "No Guest Comments for a while" warning

If you're not following any of AO3's social media accounts you might be in the dark as to what kind of "spam comments" have engendered this banner at the top of the site:

These spam comments have been posted about a great deal on the AO3 subreddit for the past couple of days. Initially they comprised a bunch of guest (logged out users) bot comments that insulted authors by suggesting they were using AI and not writing their own fics. Some examples, from the subreddit:

But it then escalated to outright graphic porn images and gifs being posted in comments, again by logged out 'Guest' accounts. Obviously, I'm not going to give examples of those, but between these two bot infestations, AO3 has clearly decided to act and has temporarily closed the ability to post comments for users who are not logged in with an AO3 account.

Unfortunately, this means that genuine readers who don't have an AO3 account won't be able to leave comments on fics that they enjoy.

If you are a genuine reader who doesn't yet have an AO3 account, I strongly suggest getting yourself on the waiting list for one. More and more AO3 authors are now locking their fics down to registered users only - either due to these bot comments or concerns about AI scraping their work - which means you're probably missing out on a lot of great stuff.

Hopefully guest commenting will be enabled again at some point soon, but I suggest not waiting until then. Get yourself on that list.

Wait times are going to be longer than usual at the moment, due to the current Wattpad purge [info on Fanlore | Wattpad subreddit thread], but if you're in line, then your invite will come through eventually.
