If I’ve shared

A bit too much

Please forgive me

I also do tend

To apologise a bit much

If I’ve gone

A bit too far

Please excuse me

I tend to leave

More often than I can

Bear to stay

If I’ve done

A bit more than I should

Please pardon me

I wear my heart

On my sleeve

More often than is good

You see...

I’ve always been standing

Where I’ve been missed.

Your shadow’s hard to look at

And not discover

What’s always been amiss

The tree never asked

Why the plucked fruit

Or deadened skin,

It only yearned upwards

Even more towards the sun.

And just like that...

Every twig that snapped

Every leaf that withered

And every branch that fell

Drew its own tale

In the sands of your time.

And just like that...

You saw you both share

An unbreakable bond

She showed you who you are

With roots all connected

Everywhere underground

And just like that...

What comes, comes

What goes, has gone.

The farther upwards you’ve turned

The deeper you’ve shared with them

Your very underground.

It often takes

A thunderbolt or two.

Striking light where

Hitherto lived blindness.

It often takes

A raging blaze in

The depths of your soul

Finally setting you free.

It often takes

A tempestuous tsunami

Shattering bars you built

Of an encaged heart.

It does however

Always take grace of faith,

Bringing you back home

To the Eden you lost your way from.

The Purpose Of A Purpose

What good is this wisdom

If it comes purchased

With coins of heartbreak?

What good is this kindness

If it bears scars

Of deathly survival?

What good is this breath

If it is measured

In laboured sighs of grief

I know not the purpose

Of this heavy load I bear,

Nor the reason why

I became the chosen one.

The only thing I am sure of

Is that I was wrong

To believe

I was right.
