Happy Valentine's Day, Queliot!

Chapter 3 of you want it darker? || dark king eliot is now live! As a Queliot gift for Valentine's Day!

This chapter does still focus on Eliot's grief, and Quentin's still technically dead (but not really/permanently?). But, as dark and angsty as this story can be, there's a strong emphasis on the Queliot love story. It feels essential to me. Hopefully you’ll agree! Big 🍑❤️ to all of you today (Happy Valentine’s Day, no matter when you read this!) (Yes, today this fic finally earns its E-rating!)

Summary for Chapter 3 specifically:

Eliot sees glimpses of Quentin everywhere. Hears his voice. Feels his phantom touch.

He knows it's really Q. And that no one will believe him. Telling Margo or Julia will only make them worry more.

Meanwhile, attempts to bring Quentin back continue to fail. Will a visit with an old friend help turn things around?

Below, I've included an excerpt from the upcoming draft for my ongoing WIP you want it darker? || dark king eliot

which will be filling the Resurrection/Reincarnation and Underworld squares on my Queliot Bingo card

He got down on his knees and held her hands. "Margo," he said, "I need to ask you for a favor."

"Oh, come off it, El. Everything that I have is yours. You know that."

"But this is different. It’s for Quentin…"

She fell silent, looking at him with those big brown eyes. So incredibly sad. Never had she more lived up to the nickname that many found so enigmatic. And yet Eliot saw to the heart of her: both the Destroyer, and the woman who would nurture him when no one else in the world gave a shit.

Or ever had, except for Quentin.

This was the moment of truth, Eliot knew.

“You’re not going to like it, Bambi. I want you to say yes anyway.”

“Eliot…I want to help, you know I do…but with the headspace you’ve been occupying lately…” Tears gathered. Slowly, so slowly, one tear and then another followed the curves of her cheeks. “I don’t think I should agree without knowing what it is.”

"If you help me bring Quentin back, I’ll be forever in your debt. I’ll swear fealty to you. Quentin and I will both follow you to the ends of the Earth."

She gentled the hands that held hers. "Eliot, I'm not so sure you can promise away the rest of Quentin's life. And I've learned from our fairy deals that sight-unseen promises are absolutely not a good idea."

"Bambi, just listen to me," he pleaded. "I found something. A very old spell. It's actually written in the back of one of Martin Chatwin's journals."

Margo’s hands on his went still.

Chapter 20: you know damn well for you I'd ruin myself  (a million little times)

Quentin falling in love with El was like opening the covers of a book, but a book that always did what books promised to do but often failed to achieve: it got him out, truly out of where he thought he was, and into something everlastingly better. He always thought things didn't matter in this world the way they did of magical Fillory - but Eliot not only helped him to ground himself into the world they were born into, by making any world he was in impossible to live in without Eliot alive and by his side.

This was Quentin's truth: that Eliot made happiness an actual reality, one that never left you.
