If Roxton, Marguerite, Veronica and Ned all ever get drunk and end up in bed together it's after the chaos of The Outlaw.

Doozy twist: accidentally creating an atomic bomb supersedes all slut plots, but technically still applies to the last above
Love the amount of "the boys are being sluts and put us all in danger" plots that get solved with "the girls know the boys are being sluts and tell them for the full episode until they have to jump in and save everyone" resolution. BC there are A LOT. Like, waaaay too many women come out of the jungle half naked and waaaay too many times the boys just go, yeah totally no problem let's make out.
Silly plot tempered by the number of "the girls are being sluts and put us all in danger" that also happen where the boys have to fix everything.
The Lost World is equal opportunity slutville.

Challenger's greatest ally and pseudo-adversary has always been Marguerite. Her ambition and recklessness has always matched his, and she is arguably the next smartest person in the expedition. She's a geologist, and bc of Summerlee and himself, an amateur botanist.
The mythology of the show is that Marguerite is a nihilistic wild card. She can choose to destroy the plateau and then the world. A lot of her luck, intelligence and guile seems to come from being protected by this dark force that encourages her darkness. This has been with her always, with the counterpoint to her destiny being the moments of interference. Sure, her destiny is to destroy the world, but that's simplifying it a bit. Her destiny is to choose to destroy the world, with the implication within the entire show being that she constantly has to choose to do good. Marguerite is the most overt manifestation of this theme, and they often get to overlap it with Challenger's perpetual megalomania (lol). It's strong writers who recognize that these greater than life characters become greater when they confront each other, and isn't afraid to put them in these situations.
So it works out that they are similar types, but also, we're watching Marguerite witness someone like herself choose good over evil. Choose everyone's lives over his passion and power in the future. SHE GETS TO BE THE BIGGER PERSON AND IT'S A GLIMMER OF HOPE FOR THE FUTURE, which is a grander more sustainable kind of power that benefits all.

We've had enough time with the characters by this point that Marguerite asking everyone their limit IS not just exposition to remind everyone where we are. It's a great moral question for the audience, who might still not be sure if Challenger is sincere or not.

Challenger is a good person, sure, he has to try a little harder than most, but I honestly think he never goes full evil bc of the sheer number of other psychotic London explorer/inventors who ended up on the plateau and the plateau just fucked all their plans up. Not that Challenger is free of examples of his own fuck up and alternate universes where he's a vicious dictator lol.

Roxton and Veronica, the underrated dynamic. There's always push back with the other combos bc they all wanna bang, but Roxton and Veronica are both hot and smart and they know it and are too busy wanting to bang Marguerite and Ned, respectively, they just move on? When one says something the other just believes 'em and they keep going. We love a competent righteous violence team.

episode: one of the boys is being a slut and everyone almost dies
next episode: psycho cannibal cult kids kidnap challenger, rescue mission ensues
episode after that: the girls are being sluts and everyone almost dies
