EVALUATION
For my FMP, I concentrated on furniture design and combined it with architecture. I knew how to use AutoCAD and the basic architecture design styles like a plan, section and AXO. This is why I wanted to learn something new for this project, which could help me in the future, like model making with different materials. I am happy that after completing this project, I learned new skills, which made it more challenging and fun, and it didn't feel like work. I loved working with wood, as it allowed me to learn how to drill, work with wood, and the best part seeing my idea coming to life. I always loved crafting and origami, and working on my table felt like a dream, which felt very pleasing. Thinking about my initial ideas and looking at my model almost done now, I have to admit I didn't expect I would have completed such an intricate structure. Even though I am not done yet with all of my outcomes, I feel like I am at a good point, considering I was new working with wood and still managed to achieve a lot. I hoped I would have at least the booklet and the bookmarks done by now, however not having the table completed, I can't work on the book, but fortunately, I finished my bookmarks and have to print them on proper paper. I had few issues during the project, from the mini models to getting the correct wood and measurements. I wanted my small building to be geometrical, concentrating on its structure more than colours. I thought I would first experiment with origami and get the final designs ready before working with model paper and plaster it at the end. After I had my structures ready, I shifted to producing the outcomes. Unfortunately, I ended up not being able to fold the card, which meant all my models being very intricate, wouldn't make it. For a few of these models, I cut each of the sides and glued them together with UHU glue, which was very stable, and I didn't end up having any problem with folding. However, there were other structures I couldn't cut into pieces and glue them, as they are too complicated. After experimenting and trying to solve these issues, I found an easier way of solving my problem. I had the model out of printing paper, so I just added a card piece on the bottom and one between the joints, which solved my issue and made the model stable. I decided against my decision not to make the mini model out of plaster, as I might loose all the details, and they wouldn't be strong enough. This way, if I have room inside the buildings, it will allow me to put even lights inside. For my bookmarks I followed a simple style for both colours and illustrations, identifying myself in it. I thought about what kind of quotes will work for a book lover, expanding the project from me to other people. In my booklet instead, I only completed the cover. I am still waiting to finish my table, then I can put the pictures in the book, describing my inspiration and explain each of the parts of the models. I took inspiration from EXPO 2015, Biennale of Venice, Pinterest and origami structures for my mini models, keeping them all in white and in size for the tea table. My table, on the other hand, was inspired by the Italian War Memorial, George Greaves table and Matt Kelly's works. I had few issues with the wood at the beginning. The measurements I planned at the beginning of the wood pieces to be, ended up being a bit off, which meant I ended up going twice to buy the wood, as it wasn't enough. I ended up with 18mm plywood to build the table and kept a simple colour palette, white on the outside and enchanted ivy on the inside. I want to have plants displayed on the bottom part of the table, which I will get from home, so it showcases storage space, and the colours will balance together. The display of my model for the exhibition changed twice until now. First, I wanted to have my tea table with plants, with on top a bookshelf on the left side and the mini buildings with trees and people but, after I built the table, I saw it wouldn't work well having the bookshelf on one side but would be better if it was in the centre and would balance well with the table. Next, looking at the final model coming together, I saw the height for both the table and the bookshelf would be similar, which means it wouldn't work and wouldn't even look good. When I was looking into a platform to elevate my model for the exhibition, with the help of the teacher, I figured out I could expand my works and not jam them all together. So, my final works will be displayed on a platform. My table will be in the centre of the platform, with the bookshelf on one side, the mini buildings around the table with the trees and people. I think I will have to have boundaries, so none of my works will trip when people attend the exhibition. I am pleased with my outcomes and everything I achieved in this project. I enjoyed working and learning new things and looking into making different types of models. In the future, I will plan all the things I will need and get them all in the first few weeks, so I won't have to wait and can directly work. Having experience now with woodworking, I will be freer to make more intricate structures and be more independent in the future.

Holford Drive Presentation.
We finally got to present our work to the Holford Drive people. It was I long project, and even though we finished everything by February we still didn’t get the opportunity to showcase our work to them, as they won’t answer us. I did a quick presentation, after we had to wait for over an hour as they were late, and got only feedback on the name. They told us the name we put wasn’t the correct one and has something more, which wasn’t our fault, as they just changed their name. Overall I am really happy it was finally done, and as it didn’t take much time I got to concentrate on my FMPas we had a week left.

My final Portfolio part 1.
I updated my portfolio with my recent projects since when I sent it to the universities. I followed the style of the previews layouts so they are all linked together. I had an issue with my main font, like the one I used previously was the 2021 InDesign ADOBE font, I couldn’t find it in the college Macs, as they don’t have the updated version. I had to change it to a similar font, but it still didn’t work as well as the previews.

Exhibition Space.
Here is our exhibition space where our outcomes will come together. It is a very spacious place, where all kind of works could fit, posters, wall hangings, projectors and models. There are two different areas, one light and one dark. This will allow a more versatile way of displaying our works, which will work great together.

Painting the inside of the tea table and woodfilling some mistakes.
For the inside of my tea table, I wanted to paint it forest green. I want to keep the colours simple for my model, and having white on the outside and green on the inside will balance perfectly. This will even connect my mini models with plants to it, as even those are white and green.
It wasn’t easy finding the right colour, I had to search online in different places and finally found the desired colour at the Crown. Looking at their website I thought the paint pot will be a medium size, and as I put in all my measurements and they said one pot will be fine, I went to buy it. I found out it was a small sample pot and wasn’t sure even two pots would work, but just took them for now. After I painted the whole inside and the top of the table with two coats, I still had paint left. I was surprised but happy it was more than enough.
I had only one corner left to paint both on the outside and the inside, which is the corner we drilled wrong. I used wood filler to close those wholes, and after they will be dry, I will sand them and paint it over. I won’t be able to finish the table tomorrow, so I will have to come in Wednesday and Thursday to complete it.

My exhibition space development.
I won’t be able to complete my whole model by the 25th, so I did a plan on how my model will be exhibit after it will be complete.
After I built the tea table, I came across few issues. I wanted to have a bookshelf on top of the table, put putting in the measurements it doesn’t add up well. My tea table is around 30 cm tall, and even my bookshelf has to be at least 20 cm tall. If I put the latter on top, the table won’t be in balance, and it wouldn’t even look good. Talking with Will, we figure out I might use a platform to put my outcomes, so I don’t have to have everything one on top of the other. This will allow me to work with more space and even place my mini sculptures in a more freeway. I planed again my exhibition space, which you can see on the last AXO, with my tea table, bookshelf and models.

Peer reviews.
We have a week left before the end of our FMP. On one of the extra days, I went in to work on my tea table I did a peer review with Daniyaal. I knew what he was working on, what he has done and what was left, as we ask each other opinions on our works with few others. This meant it was easy for me to review his work, which I hope will help him meet the deadline.
My peer review instead was clear to me. As I knew my goals and what I had to still work on even before it, but it helped to remind me. I am almost finished with the bookmarks only have the printing left. My blog posts are all updated, and now I only have to review some posts and annotations. I still didn’t start working on the proposal or the evaluation, so those are my priority for now, including having my portfolio updated with the recent projects from unit 13.

Final bookmarks.
Here are my five final bookmarks with their backside included. Each design matches up with the down, the top is the front, and the bottom is the back.
I printed the designs on double-sided paper to see if all the measurements matched before printing on the card, which was good, as they ended up being slightly off, which will be a problem if I didn’t test it. I will print the design another time, to be sure and not waste the limited paper I have.

Bookmark designs.
Following my sketches and the colour palette I was going for my table, I started working on my bookmarks. I want these to be as connected with me as a reader and my outcome. I brought my thoughts in these quotes and design, what I think and what I like about reading.
To connect even my booklet to it, I dedicated one bookmark in its style, dedicating for it a quote that fits. The rest just followed a simple style design with my quotes to complete them. I am happy with how they turned out and now hope they work well when printed too. I want to print the bookmarks in one of the sample papers I order from GF Smith, so they are more professional and will work better with my table. However, if it doesn't work, I will print them on normal paper and paste them into cardboard, so they have volume and feel better.

Finishing the tea table and painting the outside.
The top white wood didn’t end up working for my tea table. It was a bit shorter, and not being plywood wasn’t easy to work with or combine with the completed plywood base. I had to go back to Great Barr Sawmills with exact measures for the top, as it ended up being a bit more than 60 cm as I planed. After I got the top, I found out it was of a different tone, but as I was going to paint it, it wasn’t a problem.
As only two days passed from when I worked on the base, it was pretty easy to work on the top, measuring, drilling and sanding it all two more times, one by hand and the last with the sander. After I completed everything, I painted the outside of the table in white, as planned. I didn’t have the painter’s tape, so I used normal tape, I don’t know how much this will work, but if the borders have paint, I will sand it off. I had to three coats to get a proper white surface, and if it still wasn’t enough, I will do another one the next day.

I ordered model trees, people and a grass mat for my tea table, however, the estimated arrival is three weeks. I won’t have them in time to experiment with the types of buildings I want to make, so I will have to stick with making all my works, and when these will come put everything together.

Sanding my model by hand, so it will be ready to paint as soon as possible. I never worked with wood, it was difficult sanding, and the model being pretty big it took me a lot of time too. After this was finally done both inside and out, I was thinking if the top of the table should be perfectly aligned or extra space should come out. My model ended up being a bit longer than I planned, which meant I will have to get a new top piece. After looking at how it would work with a scrap piece of wood, I decided to go with an aligned top, as this will showcase more the structure of the table and nothing will be lost on shadows.

Monday lesson, building the tea table.
I was really surprized how quick the table came a long. With the help of Will, I leared how to use a drill today, he shoulded me the first two sides of the base and then I built the rest. Even though I was kind of unsure at the beginning, as I continued working I found it easy. I never thought it would have been so fun working with wood, I would love to these kind of models in the future, and having learned something new will help me a lot.
