Guess what. Life is actually a LOT more messy than the version that capitalism sells to you as a young person. It's convoluted and unpredictable, and a lot of the time, there's absolutely nothing you can do to guard against a whole bunch of shit happening. Talk to some (non asshole) older people and learn about the 263524 iterations of themselves that have existed over their lifetime, the huge changes that came out of nowhere. The times they had to cling on to survive it all.

Social media and late stage capitalism have warped our expectations so acutely that we expect our lives to be optimised - the right job, the right partner, the right city - to make us our "best selves." When actually, we were made to evolve and change. We exist to experience the world, not figure it out. There's no rulebook.
