The Lionheart Province trilogy was based on the Grimms fairytale: The Maiden Without Hands. When I first read the story, I found it truly was quite grim indeed. However, this tale is one of a very few from the Grimm Brother's collection that was a story of hope, forgiveness, and redemption. Once I had that revelation, I had to write Kardia and Leon's story. I also decided to set it in the world of Alburnium that so many of my readers fell in love with as they journeyed through the White Road Chronicles 6 book series. I placed the Alburnium Chronicle stories back in history before Alyra the Illuminate and her friends found themselves battling Lord Darnel's attempt to overthrow the kingdom. However, along the way in both the Lionheart and the Phoenix stories there are several familiar faces that appear, along with family lines to explore. Including Darnel's rise to power.
