The director dove down the nearby ravine, where he hid under the roots of a fallen tree and called the police, begging them to come with their sirens on. “I said, ‘They’re killing the journalists in the forest, and they are tracking me down,’” he recounted. “I knew cases where people had died in the forest, I saw axes around me. If someone didn’t call, we were going to die for sure.”

Anyway, there are ways to do short hair that look like they occur in a culture with somewhat of an attachment to hair (thank Tolkien's Victorian throwback hair fetish for that). US marine cut/econ major/tik tok elvis isn't it. If you take something distinctive away you have to add something sufficiently creative in its stead.

Also still waiting for an older actress to be cast as an Elf, as it seems age-blind casting for ageless beings only applies to men so far. Interesting how that choice to make it look 'distinctive' just happens to make it more generic. Almost like they're trying to appeal to a large audience fresh from GoT!

Thinking about the beings that get sent to the Void. There’s more to it than just imprisonment or banishment.

They are no longer part of Arda. And so, though the mark they left upon it remains, they themselves are forgotten by those who belong to it.

They are forgotten by all but the Ainur, who come from without.

As time passes, Morgoth is forgotten by Elves and Men. There always remains a vague memory, an empty space, a sense of something missing. Sauron rises as the new Dark Lord— and he takes Morgoth’s place, both in the present and the past. It must have been Sauron, who raised Thangorodrim and ruled Angband, who darkened Valinor, who gave rise to evil itself.

But Morgoth was not the only one who was dealt this fate.

In the Halls of Mandos, Fëanor stares at the tapestries that depict his family— he and his sons standing with swords raised, swearing their terrible Oath. There is a gap on Fëanor’s left-hand side where the threads of the tapestry are faded and dull. If he focuses, he can almost see a face. But he cannot do so for long before he nearly loses consciousness.

They cannot help but feel they have forgotten something important. But none of them know what it is they have forgotten, so it must not have been that important after all.
