oh and also that guy who was like “yeah so the shooter was having a really bad day” listen a bad day is missing your bus stop and being late to work NOT COMMITTING EIGHT MURDERS MOTHERFUCKER why does this monster deserve our grace and understanding... it’s not just a lack of accountability for white men, it’s their systematic violence. it’s been mentioned before but the intersectional violence against Asian women is wrapped up in decades of history. I’ll never forget what so many survivors of what you all in America call the Korean War (even though we really had little to do with why it started and we certainly don’t call it “the Korean War”) have said: we didn’t fear the war, we feared the allies. they said this because they were afraid of being raped, afraid of the systemic sexualized violence that came with the presence of so many American soldiers in my country, to this very day. and yet so many people that I meet here in America say that we should be grateful, that we’d all be dead if it wasn’t for the grace of the mighty United States of America. grateful for what exactly? for this legacy of colonial wars and sexual violence? for the scar that divides our once-whole country into two ragged halves? for the eight women, six of them of Asian descent, who are gone, whose families have been torn to shreds, bc of yet another white man’s violence?
also I would like to take this opportunity to remind those same people that the “model minority” myth about Asian Americans was made up by white people to reinforce institutional white supremacy by turning different nonwhite groups against each other for a supposedly limited supply of “success” and promoting racist systems of “pure meritocracy” that have, and always will, continued to advantage those who have always had the most at the expense of everybody else. the prominence of these myths, among others (“Columbus was a hero,” “the Confederacy was a noble insurgency fighting for states rights”), and the number of Americans who hold them up as solemn truths, is evidence that these lies are corrosive and ultimately devastating to the “equitable multicultural democracy” that America purports to be.
it’s hard, but they’re healing, and for that I’m so glad... shawols, you heard it here: it’s okay to miss him all of a sudden out of the blue, it’s okay to really really miss him ✨✨
luckily the dip in SHINee content coincided with my midterm szn so I’ve been kinda quiet on here
but I just know our boys are preparing so hard for the concert and I’m so excited (;´༎ຶٹ༎ຶ`) never thought I’d say this but I’m glad it’s an online concert just bc I’m in America rn lmaooo
okay yes the minkey insta convo was hilarious (and all the comments like 저기요 결혼식은 언제죠 ㅋㅋ) but now that I think about it the funnier part is that they were literally in the same room as they posted lmao
bro idk why everybody’s clowning kibum for running away from his own dog... if you have never run for your life from a much smaller animal for no logical reason then you don’t have a pet
“a long time ago I really thought TVXQ was the definition of perfection among idol groups and that there wouldn’t be another group like that but now I’m watching SHINee thinking the same thing... I’m so proud to be a shawol”
yes tvxq and shinee are the most perfectly formed kpop groups of all time and feel free to @ me idc
