what i’m loving about this live-action adaptation is the breadth of facial expressions that we didn’t get in the book (third-person limited omniscience so if POV character didn’t notice or couldn’t read the expression we didn’t get it as the audience) or the manhua/donghua (because they’re not really gonna animate microexpressions. so suddenly as the audience we get to see things from characters that we’ve never seen before like.
