The Shen clan of the Fire Nation is an ancient and noble House with connections with the fire sages and the Avatar. In the days before Sozin’s ascension to the throne, the Shen clan claimed a sizable estate a few days ride from the capital, as well as a number of positions within the religious hierarchy of Fire Nation society. In fact, the Shen (神) clan boasts at having the second highest number of family members serving as High Sage over the course of four and a half centuries, with the number of Shen (神) acolytes, monks, and sages ranging somewhere in the hundreds. And, if legend is to be believed, the Shen clan have also sired at least one Avatar, though this claim is dubious at best.
When Firelord Sozin began his conquest and killed Avatar Roku, the Shen family immediately rallied to Roku’s side, openly critical of the Firelord’s actions and going so far as to call his murder of Roku deicide. Sozin, wanting to put an end to their open criticism of his reign, authorized the removal of Shen family members from the upper echelons of the religious order, claiming that his power was greater than any spiritual figure.
Meanwhile, the Shen clan began to suffer frominternal schism, with one branch declaring its loyalty to Sozin, while the other remained in staunch support of the Avatar. Ultimately, however, those who were in strong support of Sozin moved on to form the Su (肃) clan, taking with them a portion of the Shen family holdings.
In due time, familial squabbles and open opposition to Sozin and his successors died down, with both Shen and Su branches making peace, with Zhengxia’s grandfather, Jingyi (静怡), becoming the head if the family. From that point forward, the Shen family flourished, just as it had in the past, with some of its members joining the sages once again.
Despite the apparent state of peace that had been reached between the Shen clan, the sages, and the royal family, the clan once again caught the Firelord’s–or rather, the younger fire prince’s–attention when the royal family began inquiring about the whereabouts of Avatar Roku’s granddaughter.
Things came to a head in 79 AG when Ozai, suspecting that the Shen family might still be harboring treasonous tendencies within their ranks, and wanting to prove himself to his father, conducted a raid on the Shen family estates in the dead of night in the autumn of that year (an action that he would later be heavily reprimanded for by Azulon).
Unfortunately, Ozai was a brash and foolhardy tactician, and the family was quickly alerted of Ozai’s attack. While steel rang through the night, the Shen clan gradually grew smaller until only Shen’s mother, who was pregnant with Zhengxia, and a handful of servants remained.
While some members of the Shen family managed to escape, others weren’t so lucky.
From there, the remaining members of the Shen household quickly fled, managing to find safe harbor a few miles away from their estate before resuming their flight to the nearest harbor to flee the clutches of their pursuers.

A Taiwanese-American, Zheng’s family migrated to America in the early 1900′s and eventually found their way to Gotham City. His family started out impoverished, with only the clothes on their backs and a few valuables that they brought from the homeland. Combined with anti-Japanese and Chinese sentiments that affected them through association, the Shen family faced an incredible amount of difficulty as they tried settling down in their new home.
After decades of struggle, the Shen family founded a modest business in Gotham Harbor–an area known for housing the most impoverished of the city’s residents. Despite all odds, their business boomed, and Zheng oversaw the greatest part of the business’ expansion, turning it into a full fledged empire specializing in the buying and selling of luxury products.
While the legality of Zheng’s business empire may be dubious, Zheng considers himself to be an honest businessman, and a refined gentleman.

The oldest of Diana Prince and Bruce Wayne’s two children, Thomas Wayne inherited his mother’s looks and abilities, and his father’s cold and cutting demeanor.
While he enjoys the occasional training session with his mother, he prefers his father’s gadgets over his mother’s blades.

The youngest of Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince’s children, Artemis Wayne was born two years after her brother, Thomas.
She’s a warrior at heart, and has inherited from her parents a love and determination to fight. But, while she inherited her mother’s looks and snark she, like her father, can sometimes be cold and stoic.

The oldest of Diana Prince and Steve Trevor’s two children, and named for Diana’s late aunt, Annie Trevor is a spirited, enthusiastic young woman who enjoys the thrill and freedom of flight as much as her father.
While she occasionally engages in superheroics, it’s in the cockpit that she feels the most at home.

The youngest of Steve Trevor and Diana Prince’s two children, Alexander was always a quiet but mischievous child. Where his sister, Antiope, was full of energy, Alex was more of a tactician and an observer.
Still, that didn't stop him from learning the art of the sword and the ways of the warrior as taught by his mother.
Alex prefers to fight on the ground, and can frequently be seen partaking in superheroics while wearing Amazonian armor.

Mainly based post-Sozin’s Comet, Zuko is the son of Firelord Ozai and Lady Ursa of the Fire Nation.
Abused by his father, Zuko did everything in his body to earn his father’s praises only to turn on him and help bring a new era of peace to the world.
NOTE: Zuko’s verses taking place in the ATLA universe will be categorized as belonging to Zuko’s ATLA verse until the need for a new verse arises

The son of Ozai and Ursa Takahashi, Zuko grew up in an abusive household, his father’s neglect of him only worsening after the untimely death of his mother.
Eventually, Ozai was arrested, and Zuko was adopted by Diana Prince.
In some iterations of this verse, Zuko, became a vigilante taking up the mantle of the Blue Spirit (in aus where he knew his biological mother,).
NOTE: The age at which Zuko was adopted may vary from thread to thread. And, for convenience, any threads where Zuko is the son of Diana Prince and/or Bruce Wayne will be categorized as belonging to Zuko’s main verse, until the need arises for the creation of a new one.

The Lannister Banking Group had been a booming banking and credit firm for decades, occasionally throwing its money into other ventures as well. However, as soon as Tywin’s father, Tytos, was handed the reins of the company, it began to fail, and stocks plummeted thanks to Tytos’ leniency in debt repayment.
When Tywin took control of the company after Tytos’ passing, he began instituting harsh fines on those who still owed the company money, ensuring that all those who defied him either submitted, or fell into bankruptcy.
In some versions of this au, Tywin might be a conservative politician as well.

The House of Lannister used to be one of the most respected names in crime. People feared that name, and all knew to approach the lion with deep-seated reverence, lest they fall prey to the lions.
Unfortunately, that name became tainted when Tytos Lannister took control of the family business–and all because his elder brothers, who were supposed to take control of the family, died in a series of mafia-related incidents.
The fact that these killings seemed to miraculously stop with Tytos, the weak-willed third son of Tybolt Lannister, might have eluded the Laughing Lion, but Tywin was not so naive. He saw the vultures circling around the dying lion of Lannister, even if his father couldn’t.
When he came of age, Tywin started by hunting down his father’s rivals and did away with the very vultures that threatened the once-proud lion until his family could again boast their old family motto: “Hear me Roar.”
Soon after, a new motto would be founded to supplement the old: “a Lannister always pays his debts.”
He started by going after the Tarbecks and the Reynes, and now none dare arouse the Lion of Lannister’s anger, least they’d like to hear “The Rains of Castamere.”

The Targaryens might have been some of the only firebenders from Essos left alive in living memory but, in the west, they knew who reigned as lords of fire and sword.
Tywin Lannister, a decent firebender but an even better commander, served defeat after defeat to his enemies, and rewarded his allies as he saw fit.
To him were born three children: first, Jaime and Cersei–twins, and firebenders both. Then, a third, Tyrion, who was born a nonbender as well as being a dwarf–as if just one of those wasn’t insulting enough to the great Lord of the Rock.
As a boy, Tywin befriended the Targaryen prince, Aerys, with whom he forged a friendship. Eventually, they became estranged, and the now King Aerys, who’d taken to calling himself Firelord instead of king (some variation of the old Valyrian title of Dragonord, no doubt) became more and more paranoid, and obsessed with the flames that he summoned from his fingertips.
Thankfully, all that came to an end the day Tywin marched into King’s Landing.

The war had come to a bitter end.
Lord Tywin would never forget the day his children returned to the Rock in crimson shrouds, their coming heralded by a procession of silent sisters that interred them deep inside the bowels of the Rock. Nor would he forget the day that he realized that his legacy had come to a close, and that he had witnessed every agonizing moment of it.
Now, he stood before a new sovereign on the Iron Throne, one who didn't take kindly to deceitful, treacherous lions, or butchers. One that the proud lion was now helpless to oppose.

There was a time when House Lannister was feared. That all changed when Tytos Lannister, Tywin’s father, became Lord of Casterly Rock.
Called the Laughing Lion, Tytos made a mockery of the family name. With him in power, other lords found it easy to take advantage of the Lannisters, troding upon their name until the name Lannister was as worthless as dirt.
That all changed when Tywin Lannister came into his manhood. Following the War of the Ninepenny Kings, Tywin demanded all those in debt to his family repay what they owed, but Tytos overruled Tywin time and time again.
Tywin didn’t stand for it. He made the Reynes and Tarbecks pay for their insolence and blatant disregard for his family-and now the rains weep over their halls with not a soul to hear.

Steve Trevor always wanted to venture to the stars. He felt like he belonged up there: discovering planets, duking it out with rogue mercenaries, Cardassians, Klingons, or whomever Starfleet happened to be dealing with at the time.
Most of all though, he was a man who believed in Starfleet's mission. After all, Earth had spent hundreds of years fighting senseless wars, so why not hope for peace, and a better tomorrow?
A wide-eyed adventurer, and a determined Federation citizen, Steve enrolled in Starfleet and found himself at the helm of his own starship: the U.S.S. Artemis.

Steve Trevor was pretty sure he died. He was ready for it. He took the bomb-filled plane up into the air and he incinerated it, taking him out with it.
He remembered how his screams turned into fire, how the flames burned until there was nothing left but ash.
Yet somehow, he lived and he found Diana again, as beautiful and angelic constant in a world full of change.

Steve Trevor had always loved Greek mythology and the history of the First World War, he just never knew why. It was a fascination of his, a hobby he indulged in.
Sometimes, he’d also have strange dreams of an angelic woman with a shining sword and fighting alongside her. He never knew her name, only that she was familiar and that he loved her.
Steve always assumed it was a fantasy conjured up in the depths of his subconscious...until he met her.
