You hear a soft squeaking coming from a nearby tree stump. When you lean down to take a peek, you find a bat with a torn wing. You take it home, since there are no vets for miles around. Little do you know that it is a vampire bat who is struggling to turn into his human form.

A vampire has worked at the local 7-11 for the past 5 decades. No one has the heart to call the vampire out or slay them. A little because they’re such a good employee, mostly because they think they’re doing such a good job hiding the vampirism when they’re really not.

“Do you ever try to read your own face?” / “More bad dreams. I wish I could remember them.”
[ID. An illustration of Lucy Westenra in profile, looking into an oval wall mirror. Lucy wears a pale yellow tea gown with a ruffled collar, a wide olive sash and a muted yellow robe with leg-o-mutton sleeves. Her auburn hair is styled in a Gibson-Girl updo. One hand is clutched to her chest, while the other feels her throat. Lucy’s reflection mirrors her pose, except for a hand that reaches beyond the frame and delicately cradles Lucy’s chin. Lucy’s reflection is deathly pale, her hair falls in loose waves behind her, and she wears a white wedding dress with a form-fitting bodice, and a transparent veil that covers her entire form. Underneath her sheer ruffled collar, two tiny punctures on her neck drip blood onto her collarbone. End ID.]

Daryl listened as the Ahamkara spoke, its voice a purr that sent shivers down his bones. But what it said confused him. Consequences? What consequences would come from healing people? Would they come from healing the wrong people? He supposed that could be a possibility, his music healing the enemies of his people along with his people as well. But then what of the warning? Was his music to be affected by its words? Would his audience be affected by them as well?
He thought for a few minutes, considering the dragons offer before looking up at the mysterious, mythical beast. “One year?” he asked with a slight smile. “I think I can do that. You will know my gift better than anyone and it will give me time to hone my craft.”
The young awoken then paused and gave a small frown. “I will need to tell my family about this. I do not want my mother thinking ill of my new employer.”
A young man in a dark cloak approaches the baron, glancing at the "associates" around him. He swallowed, his uncertainty reflected in his glowing amber eyes. He'd never seen a wish dragon before, only heard about them in stories and legends, tales of great power that led to the making of his home and the Dreaming City.
He took a deep breath and gripped the hem of his cloak, pale threads of light rippling across his bluish skin as he let it out again.
"I hear you can grant wishes," he said addressing the multi-eyed dragon. "My name is Daryl Virikov and I wish to know what it would take for me to gain a wish."

The Eliksni guards were dwarfed by the size of the beast curled up in the suspended throne. Even curled up like this, his head was still several feet above Daryl. Long, sharp teeth reveal themself as the Ahamkara speaks, and his tail thumps against the side of the throne.
“A wish you say?” Those ether blue eyes stared at the young Awoken standing before him, and the head leans forward. “Well..that’s a hefty thing to want. Tell me, young one, what is it you wish? Tell me, and we can..Undoubtedly come to an agreement.”

Daryl clutched his cloak harder, body tense with fright as he gazed up at the dragon. If he thought approaching the spiky fallen warriors with glimmer about information on a wish was scary, the great beast he stood before now was terrifying. He swallowed and forced himself to stand up straight. He couldn’t cower, he couldn’t run, not when he was so close.
“My wish,” he stammered steeling his courage against his fears. “My wish is for the power to have my music reach others, bring their hearts together for healing, both one and community alike. To help those around me, to heal them in the only way I know how—with my music.”
He didn’t know if this would be enough, if this description would be enough, but he knew what he wanted. He had seen paracausal forces work, felt their power, and seen the destruction it wreaked. But what if it was used for good? To heal instead of hurt? That was the desire of his heart. To reach and touch others hearts and souls and heal them with music as it healed him.
Daryl held his ground and looked up determinedly with his amber-red eyes. “That is my wish.”

Info: Destiny 2!Verse
Daryl Virikov is a young reef-born Awoken, about 17 by normal standards. His parents were lost during the Reef Wars with the wolves when he was a child (between 5-9),  but a member of a mixed-species scavenging team heard him singing and, having pity on the little guy, brought him aboard. For the next 10 or so years, he lived with the crew, learning all sorts of things from music to sneaking to lockpicking to cooking and stabbing.
Now that the Reef wars are over, Daryl actually works as a performer, a singer who works to use his music to bring people together, but he wants to do more. He wants to heal his home, heal the people in his home, smooth out the burn scars left by the Wolves and Scorn.
—More info to come—

“Stop right there, Meier. I’m taking her back, back to her family, who loved her.” “She knew I loved her best of all. You can’t understand it. You’ve never loved a human.” “I’ve never killed one, either.” “You struggle to resist this nature of ours, but it can’t last forever, D. The urge for their blood is stronger.” “If that day comes, then another will hunt me. It’s as simple as that.”

As a vampire, you fit every stereotype for modern urban fantasy/romance stories. Unfortunately you’re also next in line for the title of Count in your family, a very old, noble and wealthy family of vampires from Bavaria who take tradition very seriously.
