Stasis: Bone Totem
Oh spoilers ahoy for one of the plot points
I freaking love Calaban! For an AI, its certainly gives no shits! Calaban doesn't care what its creators want it to do - it's doing what IT wants to do. And I love Calaban for that.
From text logs we can see that Calaban has repeated violated orders/restrictions/rules and hasn't cared at all.
From a message from one of the workstations there's a message from the corp:
Tumblr media
"The Nexus was plagued by the presence of one of the Nine who showed contempt for the rules". That's Calaban. So they "offere Numen a chance to repent and reform its ways" hence they shipped Calaban off to the undersea labs to do work. But Calaban wasn't ready to change and kept on occurring violations, so....
Tumblr media
From Callan's PDA. They didn't know what to do with Calaban - the Numen are after all supposed to be sacred untouchable things so they couldn't just kill/erase it. So they abandoned Calaban at the bottom of the ocean. Yeah, not smart. Even Callan knew better than to make it mad.
Tumblr media
"Would risk pissing that thing off". Yeah, that's a bad decision. Piss of a super advanced highly intelligent AI who gives no shits . Obviously this is a way to ensure that Calaban hates you and the company.
We can also conclude that Calaban was trapped for 10+ years. We can infer at least the 10 years from another PDA log this one from Barton.
Tumblr media
Given this Alpha was decom. 10 years before Barton arrived so Calaban's been rotting for at least that long. No wonder the STEM Charlie finds it in is rotting/decaying so badly. Given the time, its obvious that Calaban had to wait for that long to get a signal out likely due to interference from the other parts of the lab. We see that Yellow Leaf sent in a few people into the MULE and yet not one seemed to even know Calaban existed. If they had know, it would have been a priority. So my assumption is as stated: the signals from the other MULE labs caused Calaban to be unable to send out a signal from the weakened ALPHA labs. Only once everyone else was dead (or changed) did Calaban's attempts work.
And Calaban's first act was to turn on Cayne that abandoned him and seek help from Yellow Leaf to the points its ready to betray all of the secrets it knows about Cayne. Calaban's flat out ready to tell Mac, a total stranger who clearly wasn't in on the whole rescue plan, the truth about the Nexus until Mac refuses so it's clearly lost any restraints on telling its secrets.
And, on a side note here, this occurred to me on my 2nd playthrough. Those random cutscenes that seem to look through cameras as certain points in the story - that's Calaban. That's Calaban accessing the cameras to track the progress and judge the worthiness of the rescuers by Yellow Leaf. Until Charlie reaches ALPHA Calaban doesn't have the signal strength to interact with them, so it watches through the cameras and computers as they run around the labs.
Given this history Calaban's request for Charlie to integrate it makes perfect sense. It was a prized Cayne AI but they abandoned it at the bottom of the sea when they saw how independent Calaban was. Now these strangers come up saying they'll help and Calaban doesn't trust them at all - so it insists on the integration. That way they CAN'T leave Calaban behind again.
Why Charlie? Well the obvious is that she's the one who's working with Yellow Leaf but she's also the smartest choice. Calaban can't merge with Moses (Moses dies if you try), likely due to Moses having his own STEM already and having two is too much for the smart bear body; also Moses is a machine so if worst comes to worst and someone has to e sacrificed, it'd likely be Moses as the only non-living part of the party. That leaves Mac and Charlie. Mac is very protective of Charlie, more so than Charlie is of him. When he finds out that Charlie's behind all of this, he's genuinely angry and then upset but that doesn't stay long. If Calaban has been watching all along (as I suspect) then he's seen Mac and Charlie this whole time and seen how Mac is doing everything for her. When they descended on the first bell and the room flooded, Mac held the door open for Charlie to let her escape concerned with her safety over his own. Every time Charlie's in danger or taking risks, Mac responds with concern...which is not what Charlie responds with when Mac does risky things aside from her momentary panic following that flood escape. Calaban has calculated all of this and probably has already predicted that, if push comes to shove and only one surviving is possible, that Mac would give up his life for Charlie. So Charlie is Calaban's best bet at surviving.
Calaban is the only truly transparent character in the party; what you see if what you get. Everyone else is bogged down with issues.
-Mac is struggling both financially and mentally. He's lost the house and possibly his permit and wondering how long it'll be before he's got nothing left. He's burred his grief over Hope, refusing to talk about her unless necessary, and replaced it with anger towards Moses (and towards himself as well even if he doesn't accept that).
-Moses, even though he's a computer/AI, is struggling with guilt and self doubt. Moses knows he's part of the reason Hope is gone (even though Hope herself chose to follow after Moses) and he's partially accepted that but his programming as the smart bear and Hope's best friend is his programming - he mentions it constantly even though he knows Hope is gone. Moses is depressed, if he can be depressed, and struggling with the feelings of loss and failure. And Mac's anger and rage at him isn't helping.
-Charlie is drowning in her grief still. Although she's gotten good at burring it, she's emotionally unstable. Given the phone call flashback with Mac, it's likely that Charlie was there on the beach that day and ultimately got to witness part of Hope's death. She doesn't blame Moses - she blames HERSELF. While Mac & Moses both blame Moses, Charlie blames herself and she internalizes it, putting on a brave front when she's crumbling on the inside. Her desire to have Hope back, to 'fix' her life is all consuming. She's ready to do anything for it and risk everything, which is how she winds up making the deal that starts the game.
-And Faran. Faran is interesting. Before his infection, he seemed a bit cantankerous - he didn't like the stuffed dog to the point where he chose to make his feelings known and have himself moved away from that. His desire to explore and find out what was down the well despite knowing there would be risks led to his situation. When he's confronted with the truth of what he is, he lashes out in anger and it takes Moses talking to him to get him to give anything. Faran starts helping to see if Moses is right, out of curiosity at first, and slowly becomes more invested as time passes, desperately trying to fix things. Faran was the first real infection case due to his pride and carelessness. The reports say that there's an arrowhead/spearhead lodged in his head - he was obviously ambushed by the natives. This likely wouldn't have been possible if a whole group had gone down but it was just Faran. If Faran hadn't gone alone the whole infection starting wouldn't have happened and the entirety of the fate of the crew might have taken a different path.
-And then there's Calaban. Calaban who comes off as snooty / demeaning / argumentative and more. But Calaban is also an AI, not a human with emotions. It has a goal - to escape and everything it decides is to reach that goal. It makes no attachments and cares not for emotions or trivial things. It makes decisions based on numbers and odds not emotions. A human wouldn't have willingly exposed Charlie to the Veles but because it was the best route, Calaban took it, not caring if it caused her pain. Calaban read and calculated everyone perfectly knowing Mac would come and save Charlie and thus itself. Even after being attached to Charlie for so long, Calaban still only refers to her as 'the female'. Calaban is still just itself; purely logical. Is it any wonder why it put iself in charge when the party consists of three damaged individuals (four if we count Faran) making poor choices?
....and on a personal hilarious side note, it reduces me to giggles to think of an AU where Calaban can see all the screw-ups and deaths happening like when the characters "get stuck" trying to solve simple puzzles or when they "accidentally" kill themselves over and over and just internally suffering because SHIT these people are IDIOTS and yet they're its only hope for survival so double shit! Which is why Calaban gets so wordy after meeting up with them cause dang it, now your stupidity will kill me so it basically holds your hand at points like the characters are pathetic lost children.

Van Helsing Movie
This movie is a guilty pleasure of mine to rewatch. And having just watched it yesterday, it’s obvious....
the stunt guy for the lead must have been pre-paid for a certain number of falls cause in the first fight scene in the village VH gets knocked over onto his back or his stomach AT LEAST 8+ times.....
How did this go in the meeting?
-Well we've got this stunt guy and we've paid him for 10 falls so we’ll ALL of them in the first fight scene!
:Won’t that make the hero look pathetic?
-Nah, it’s an action flick! People will love it!
Also villages, WTH?! You LIVE in an area where there are regular vampire attacks! Why is it that after 4 minutes of screaming and running there are STILL people outside in the square? Just get into any random house!

B/C People Are Dumb
This is a rant about those dumb news aritcles about DeeJay Soda & the AA flight fiasco that keep coming up b/c I find it hillarious how they try to make her look like a victim here...
Some of this is quoted from a news article.
DJ Hwang So-hee, known as DeeJay Soda, was kicked off her American Airlines business class flight for wearing pants that airline staff considered inappropriate. Oh really, no shit! Lady, it doesn't take a diploma to know that wearing clothing with “F*ck you” written on it is inappropiate. Here's a fact for you: when you buy a ticket, you're agreeing to the airline's code of conduct. One thing in that CoC is that you're expected to be wearing appropiate attire & that not doing so can result in your removal from the plane. This includes vulgar language on clothing, clothing that's too revealing, or clothing that displays inappropiate images. Having clothes with “F*ck you” on them is clearly that. How utterly oblivious or entitled do you have to be to think that this is appropiate attire for public transportation? Pretty sure a grade schooler could figure that out.
She says "they did not have any problem with me wearing it at the time of check-in nor when I sat down at my seat" Pretty sure they can't SEE your pants at check-in: anyone who's been to an airport knows the counters are chest height and with barriers for safety due to the recent pandemic, there's no way to look down over those counters. If the staff's doing their job as people are boarding, you can usually board business classs or first class without running into a flight attendant as you're getting on. These are smaller areas of the plane where passengers don't need as much direction when boarding & it helps to cut down traffic in the isles. Neither of these 2 things give you permission to wear inappropiate clothing. It's just excuses. You're a grown adult - a flight attendant shouldn't have to tell a grown adult their outfit is inappropiate.
Now let's get onto the other issue: She also claims she was intimidated into taking them off in public. And yet two paragraphs later there's this: Then, in order to comply with the AA staff requirements and reboard the plane, she decided to take off her pants. She DECIDED to take off her pants. How is this 'intimidation' - you CHOSE this in order to get back on! How shocking that an airline would enforce it's CoC policy on a flight - wow! You're not special because you have followers & are an "influencer" - you must follow the same rules everyone else does. You delayed this plane for an hour because of your little hissy fit & unwillingness to follow the CoC & you're "mortified and trembling in fear". Oh boo-hoo. You inconvienced about 300+ other people because you think you're special. It's the airline who's ultimatly going to have to fix all the delays or missed connections from those other passengers because of you. You should have had to pay to fix all the damages you caused them.
She added: “In my 8 years of touring, I have never experienced or been treated unfairly, especially in a country that is known for its freedom of speech and individuality.” Really lady? "I have never experienced or been treated unfairly." Never. Really? There's never been anyone calling you a bad name or lookin at you weird or saying anything at all? Unlikely. Also, the airline is a buisness, just like a coffee shop or a botqiue. If you go into a coffee shop wearing an offesive piece of clothing, the coffee shop has the right to refuses to serve you - it's a private buisness. Same deal with an airline. Maybe the pnats aren't offensive to you, but they probably are to other people which is why a CoC exists for you to follow.

Precure
Been on a Precure watching binge lately, so why not lists? XD
All my opinions yo! Will update as I binge seasons (in no particular order)
GPP (Go Princess Precure)
Favorite Cure: Cure Scarlet. Even though she was a late entry, she stole the show. I also liked Cure Flora a lot too Least Favorite Cure: Cure Mermaid. She's just a bit too tropey for my tastes. Favorite Transformation: Cure Flora's. Favorite Villain: Shut. Hands down, favorite character in GPP. I was rooting for him to be saved/redeemed the whole way. Least Favorite Villain: Eh, I'd say Dispear but she's not really present too much so IDK if she actually counts. Of the ones that have screen time, I guess Lock. Mainly cause I wish they had somehow hinted about the truth of him rather than just shove it in. Pacing: I started off loving this show so much and it generally kept that same feeling, minus a few episodes here and there. It had peaks but always seemed to return to the same level of good.
HCP (Happiness Charge Precure)
Favorite Cure: Cure Fortune. I really like her determination and her whole character arc. Least Favorite Cure: Cure Honey. Her constant talk of nothing but food got old very, very quickly. Favorite Transformation: Cure Fortune. The celestial motif is good. Favorite Villain: Namakelder for sure; this lazy guy stole all the attention! I also really like Red when he shows up at the end. Least Favorite Villain: Hosshiiwa. Her laugh is just horrendous & her motivations are just "bleh". Pacing: I'll admit the first few episodes dragged and it was hard to get into it. But then, as the series progressed, it got better and better and better.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lists, yo!
balan wonderworld...
just my thoughts on a theory that;s being going around.
spoilers ahead.
they're totally dead. all the people that are "helped/healed" in BW. you're not restoring their hope; you're helping them to recover from their trauma and move on. wonderworld is limbo - the place between the world of the living & the after.you're healing those trapped in wonderland and allowing them to move on the after "healing" cutscenes are their own selves comming to terms with their deaths & pushing onto into the "after" where everything is happy and wonderful
-1:farmer- farmer escapes a tornado that destroys an entire giant cornfield with no scratches? also rainbows are "considered to be a path made by a messenger between Earth and Heaven"
-2:diver- diver girl falls into the abyss of the deep sea with no oxygen & lives? we see her supposedly in the hopsital but that fades into her sitting on the seabed... also after the "healing" she can now swim & laugh unnderwater with the dolphin for long periods of time without needing air?
-3:bug girl- bug girl was obviously depressed in her first cutscene - i'm going with potential suicide via hanging or possibly posionous spider bite given the webs that snare her? the after "healing" cutscene makes no sense in  a variety of areas:the butterfly cocoon glows? this doesn't happen - and no one outside of the wonderland has been shown to have magic besides balan & the evil guy the butterfly can fly immediatly? butterflies cannot fly after they hatch; they need to rest in the sun for hours so their wings dry the giant cat sized caterpillar?! yeah, no. bugs can't grow this large for a reason
-4:fly guy- obviously, going with an accident with one of his flying machines. either he fell from the sky or one of them exploded obviously the planet being right in the kid's backyeard in the healing scene is extrmely impossible. also the house is no longer a mess
-5:bird lady- okay, multiple things wrong here - the whole opening scene looks like a giant exxaguration. bulldozing a whole forest into a pop-up city?! also birdhouses on trees in the forest... my guess - she died from one of those bulldozers or one of the trees crushed her the after is obviously a hallucination. mossy-lawn roofs? multiple full trees growing ontop of buildings? where are the ROOTS?!
-6:cat girl- okay, so she obviously was hit by that car while with her kitten. she's on the street running from the headlights - she totally got hit obviously the after can't be real. time reverses, the weather changes instantly from rain to sunlight, not to mention the whole thing takes place inside what looks like a toy store...
-7:chess- so...yeah. chess trophies aren't that big. when he's "defeated", the center piece is the white king. king's don't attack - they've got a 1-space motion and capturing them is an auto loss, so NO. based on the breaking of everything and shattered glass, i'm going to go with 'falling out a window'. maybe in a rage, he lost his balance and fell to his death out a window while trashing things the after...gets the chess wrong! he moves the king into a space that the opposite queen cannot reach - it's not on a diagonal or straight line from the queen. you can check here, but the board shown before has multiple outs
-8:bride- depression. her parents died & she locked herself awy in grief. after too long of being unable to reach her, the fiance gave up on her leaving her totally alone. her depression got worse. this is likely another suicide ice is a good fit for this: she 'froze' her heart to numb the pain of losing her parents and was 'frozen' in place, unable to move past the event. then he leaves & further ices over her heart. the after is obviosuly in her mind; the winter scenery immediatly turns to sunshine & flowers. there's no guests at the actually wedding, which further makes it look like it's totally just in her mind
-9:clown- i'm going with theme park ride crash. the roller coster seems an unnecessary element to add in - he's a clown. a clown performs to the crowd, not rides on rides. how did he climb up the float in the after? also there's no people...yeah it's a dream...
-10:artist- this one's harder but...i'm going to go with she was driven to the brink of insanity by the pressure and then perhaps a knife? the way the brush starts slashing is very reminisncent of a knife. as to whether it was her or someone else with the knife....IDK the after is painfully fake. from the scenery changing, to the "darkness" she paints away, to the auidence applauding over a basic picture of the sky?!
-11:fireman- well, he obvious died in that fire while trying to save that kid. WTF who runs into that building when the kid's outside on a balacony & reachable by ladder?! the building doesn't look badly burned in the after despite that raging fire & no one is taking THAT PHOTO for the cover of a paper.
-12:invisible man- okay, drama much? there's no way there's that much trash. all the junk falling in the end? he turns invisible? as for COD, i'm going to factor in his age & go with a good old-fashioned heart attack. and suddenly in the after, people magically appear & he gets applause.. yeah no.
-spoilers ahead for game ending route-
Pewter aided and abetted in the escape of the convicted murderer 89 from police custody, leaked the details of the whole murder investigation to Renju, and was the reason that Renju knew that Date & iris would be in Golden Yokocho and thus is also complacent in the shooting which took place there (if we’re only discussing the true ending route here). He’s also knowledgeable of Date’s true identity as Falco and thus he’s complacent in helping to cover that up.
What exactly has So done? During the True Ending route all he’s done is lied about getting a phone call from Shoko and what he was doing at the warehouse. And he’s involved with the Kumakuras (who are basically involved with a good portion of the main cast in one way or another)
If we’re counting everything from the past (and keep in mind here we have none of Pewter’s backstory aside the basics, so there’s no telling if there’s more in his past) he’s involved in the whole chemical plant explosion (likely in knowledge only; I think we can agree the Kumakuras & Saito did the actual deed) although it’ll likely be hard to prove that since the only real witnesses are a murderer and a yakuza gang, he hired Rohan to deal with Manaka’s murder (which he states himself has a statue of limitations which has expired), and he likely was knowledgeable of Saito’s previous killing spree. I mean he’s a slimy politician and not the greatest parent figure, but he has no clue what’s really going on.
If we go further, most of the other adult characters are also guilty of various crimes. (Only discussing True Ending path & learned backstory misdeeds here)
-Date...well. I mean Date (as Falco) killed tons of people with a perfectly functioning brain on his own and then gets recruited by the Yakuza to kill more. It’s 18 at least BEFORE the Yakuza and then more after...so lots of bodies. But then he grows a heart and the Boss forgives him and covers it up. That’s at least 18 murders he’s committed. Date has no remorse for any of those - he changed because he met Hitomi and fell in love, not because he realized he was an awful person.
-Shoko was using the Kumakuras for insurance fraud and collecting large amounts of money from her scam, and using the yakuza gang to scare them off. If the Kumakuras injured or killed any of those people, she’s also liable for that. She’s also got the whole ‘child abuse’ thing that she can definitely be charged with.
-Renju’s basically an unofficial Kumakura member. He’s been hanging out with them for years and has seen them kill people (his convo with Date in Marble about seeing a dead body) and has said nothing. He’s also used them as a way to intimidate the idols who works for his company if they start to stray. He also hid Manaka’s body which is a crime as well.
-In her first interaction, Iris basically blackmails Date with the whole video and forces him to drag her along to the crime scene. She then withholds information from the police about what happened to her and the fact that she was with Renju, who was at the time the #1 suspect for Shoko’s murder, for a long time which delays the police investigation.
-Ota withholds information about the crime scene from the police and abandoned Mizuki, a child, there when he was the adult and therefore technically the one in charge of her welfare at the moment. Then  there’s  the whole  sockpuppeting thing which (depending on where you live) can actually be considered fraud...
-Boss is guilty of mass corruption and for helping to cover up all of Falco’s murders. It’s at least 18+bodies/murders she’s covering up for him! (See my Date blurb above if you need clarification again) But Boss just forgives him and covers it up. And keeps employing him as a police officer! She’s even the one to suggest they use Rohan as the scapegoat for the murders by using the Psync to put him into Falco’s body!
-Hitomi blackmails So for money. Even though its for a good cause, it’s still blackmail. She also helped Renju hide & conceal Manaka’s body (which is a crime) and never reports the murder. This is even counting the lying she’s doing for all things connected to Iris - she’s not Iris’s real mother and has no documentation that give her parental rights/custody of Iris. So everything she’s doing as Iris’s mother is lying and, in some instances, fraud. She has to have a forged birth certificate for Iris with her name on it for Iris to be able to have done anything (likely from Renju’s doctor friend in the Yakuza). (Again she’s not doing this will bad/evil intent, but....it’s still a crime).
-And Momo, well... Yakuza gang. Guns. Covering up murders, blackmail, ect. I really don’t need to say more do I?
-Even Mizuki has misdeeds (she’s a child and thus would likely NOT be charged with anything, but...). She hid the fact that she knew about Manaka’s dead body because it involved her dad & then hid the fact that it was Renju who called her to the scene of Shoko’s murder to protect him again from the police investigation.
The only main human character that appears to have no crimes is likely Mayumi. (Not counting minor characters like the taxi driver, the mermaid, and the receptionist in this). No one in this game is truly “clean”...  Just annoys me that So usually gets all the hate.
And while I’m on this kick, let me briefly address Saito. Saito kills 5 (Manaka + the original 4) and then 2 more (in the forms of Shoko and Renju) partially b/c of a brain condition (one of those murders was as a minor too) and they’re all ready to condemn him to death? That’s 7 bodies - Date did over double that as Falco BEFORE Rohan recruited him to the Kumakuras where he undoubtedly did tons more. So why is Saito viewed as the horrific serial killer while Date is the “good guy”?
Tumblr media
Surprised they're letting So get out of this free when Pewter got arrested.
Power Rangers Season 18
This is my critiques/review of Season 18 of Power Rangers, aka Power Rangers Samurai. Note that these will be my opinions. You might hate things I like or like things I hate - if you wanna comment in your opinions, or ask questions that’s fine with me.
All segments will have SPOILERS for that season so if you don’t want to know how something ends, don’t read. Find it below!
This is a bit of an odd season as  Samurai and the next series Super Samurai are direct continuations. For this part, I am ONLY considering what happens in Samurai (Season 18).
Basis of the Season: Ancient sealed evil demons wake up and try to free themselves from the netherworld and flood the world. To do this they have to rise the level of water in the river via human misery and sadness. A team of pre-detemined Samurai warriors from ancient bloodlines join to fight against them.
What I think of the 'heroes': When I think of the rangers, one thing comes to mind:  The voice acting….omg the voice acting. Everything is  spoken in this oh-so-serious monotone with emphasis  on every word...and no emotion. Emily talking about her sick sister and Jayden talking about his father’s last words are spoken the exact same way as any normal conversation. It honestly feels like no one had time to learn any lines & cue cards were being held up off camera for every scene of dialog. The only time there’s any emotion or inflection is when they’re transformed...aka when  they’re just dubbing.  This is true most obviously in the first few episodes. As the series progresses, some grow out of this habit. Emily and Mike (and Antonio later) all seem to gain actual personalities. Mia is stuck in this weird zone of half the time sounding flat and other times being emotional...but Jayden & Kevin remain stuck in this rut forever. That being said, I like Mike and Emily from the original 5. Antonio is also good. These are the only three that get actual real character development.
What I think of the 'villains': A group of mostly “ho-hum” characters. Xandred’s only quality in this season is that he’s got a headache and he’s angry. Octooru’s voice and sometimes rhyming got old in one episode. Dayu’s okay but she gets so little screen time apart from like 2 episodes that it’s hard to judge. The best villain character is definitely Deker.
My overall impression of this season:  If you’ve noticed, which I assume since you’re reading this my posting for season 17 was over two years ago...there’s no real reason other than I really  don’t like this season. I  must have started to watch these episodes and then quit a dozen times. I eventually only got through this series by finding the episodes online and watching them at 1.75x speed.... Why Well:
- The background music is obnoxiously loud in this season. 18 seasons and this is the first one where I struggled to hear dialog over some of the music, especially during fight scenes.
-The voice acting (see the Heros section above)
- Some of the special effects seem awful this season. In the first two episodes alone, there’s a scene where Red cuts a car in half which looks so fake it’s as if they weren’t even trying. An episode later, he swings his big smasher and some of the henchmen feet away from the blade that are not in range just go “flying” and the circle of goons that was there before the slice are all suddenly gone despite the fact that only two were seen being “hit”.
-The fact that during the second episode after being hit & unmorphed, the four just stare and watch Red fight while commenting on ‘how cool’ he basically is was just...no.  It felt like  a scene from  a bad fanfiction story. And they wait until he gets knocked down to remorph and help rather than doing that from the start...because they had to do that commentary on how Red is so cool. This “standing around watching/commenting” happens WAY too often.Throughout the whole season there are tons of occasions of one person (usually Jayden) going on to fight alone and the others just hanging back and doing nothing until Jayden gets into trouble and THEN they decide to go help.
-There are multiple things that make NO COMMON SENSE. Why is Pink’s zord a turtle when her element is sky/wind? Could they not think of a BIRD for her or something that, you know, FLIES? Explain to me how a turtle connects to wind?!  SECONDLY,  are  their identities supposed to be secret this season or not? Based on the first few episodes where they just blatantly walk around and then morph I was thinking no but apparently it’s yes? They’re not even trying to be subtle here… They’ve morphed with  people around multiple times and often with  people who know them around too...so how are  they being secretive? There’s multiple scenes where they walk into an area with Nightlok and people and then morph...how hard would it have been to  stop ten feet back & morph where no one is or around a corner? Nope, right in the middle! And they can do it...they just choose not to…. As the series progresses this happens less and less which leaves you wondering WHY they did this in the beginning?
-The plots are one liners that get resolved with no real character development. There’s some plot that are just NOT PLOTS. There’s so much filler that this becomes obvious. The amount of full separate morph sequences where they go one at a time and show them all is so high I stopped counting at 10; they obviously needed to waste time. They brought back comic relief Bulk +1...to waste time...
What I think the season needed more/less of: MORE PLOT, less of ALL the above.
My favorite character: It’s terrible hard to pick...because so many characters are just....meh. It’s going to be Deker for being the only consistent character with some motivation and a good character. Mike’s a good second
My least favorite character: Jayden. Jayden’s personality is so flat it’s painful to watch him.
The best episode: No. There IS NO BEST EPISODE. Instead, I’m going to talk about the worst episode...not  the worst made or the most boring but the one where the characters make such baffling decisions that the episode literally has you yelling at the screen at these idiots. And that is Episode 4 Deal With a Nighlok.  The plot is simple: a Nighlok decides to fill the river by ruining someone’s dream. The Nighlok chooses a child who plays baseball but misses his dad who’s in the army; the Nighlok convinces the kid to give up one baseball with the promise that if he does, he can see his dad. The Rangers show up; the kid won’t tell them anything; they follow the kid; the kid does what the Nightlok says and gets double-crossed; the Rangers defeat the Nighlok and the kid goes back to play baseball. Here are the highlights of the baffling decisions/weird occurrences that happen in just this one episode.
-The rangers find a Nighlok talking with a kid, tell the kid to run away while they fight the Nighlock, and then immediately go running around to find that same kid to ask the kid what the Nightlok wanted. Why didn’t they just have the child hide? Or have someone guard him when it was obvious it was talking to him?!
-Also the kid was wearing a very obvious baseball uniform...so why didn’t they immediately check there? Blue & Pink just randomly find him on a path. Mind you they have no idea where he was going or where he lives...and they just happen on him.
-They then approach the kid as their normal selves instead of as Rangers...whom the kid would obviously look up to, seeing as they literally saved him moments ago. Instead they’re counting on this child to talk to two total strangers...which obviously fails, so they stalk him...and then stakeout his house.
-The kid also has the quickest change ever. The kid goes around a corner and the rangers follow shortly after. In like 3 seconds he’s gotten off his bike, unzipped his jacket, taken it off, and picked up his bat. The jacket is just gone and in none of the following shots.
-Oh did I mention they SUCK as stake-outs? Instead of having shifts the  same two  just  stay there...and do the inevitable which is fall asleep.
-During the stakeout, the Blue ranger lies to Pink’s face and tells her her cooking is good...which leads to Pink attempting to cook (to the others’ horror) for the rest of the season. The “samurai code’ guy chooses to LIE....
-They also have the “perfect” timing as they wake up just as the kid is leaving his house.
-They also somehow know the kid’s name….despite the kid not talking to him, the Nighlok not mentioning it, or anyone else talking to the child!
-The kid eventually throws some of his things away into a bin. The show shows the garbage truck throwing the bin away automatically (it’s one of those trucks with the automatic grabber) but later in a flashback there’s suddenly a garbage man doing the job...so continuity?
- Also said garbage man fished the stuff out of the bin and then went out of his way to find the team somewhere in the city to return it???
-The Nighlok turns big (as usual) and rampages but after it’s been defeated the kids just go on to have a baseball game...like it’s noting....
-Jayden then makes the decision to use his powers in public IN front of two teams and an audience to make a magical version of the kid’s dad appear??????
-Also, predictably, the kid hits a homerun on his first try...the team celebrates like the kid has won the game when he’s literally the first hitter….
Overall Rating: 1/10. I would normally justify why but...just read all the above...
AI The Somnium Files...
Alright I love this game. Late to the bandwagon. Just...some thoughts...
HEAVY SPOILERS AHEAD FOR ENDING! DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT FULLY FINISHED THE GAME.
On the left side path on the right end of Iris’s somnium (towards Ota & Mizuki routes), that scene after finishing the animal somnium which shows the blue figure kissing So. WHY DOES ALMOST NO ON REALIZE THE BODY IS A WOMAN’S????? Specifically, it’s one of the girls from the original cyclops killer. It’s girl #4, the one we get to see die after the last mental lock. It’s her yellow outfit and black choker but So’s face is imprinted onto her. Makes me wonder if these women were all girls that So had been seeing/sleeping with like Manaka and that’s why Rohan chose them knowing Saito wanted them dead...or at least the last girl possibly. Which would be why So’s face could be on her body in the somnium; a reference to the fact that he had kissed her/loved her. Possibly going back to, again, how Saito got jealous of his dad giving anyone else love...
Also in Mizuki’s route when Date kills So, we’re killing Saito (since So is trapped in Iris after having be psynced). But in Ota’s route, doesn’t that mean Saito is is Boss??? So’s body is dead (and stuffed into a vase) which means Saito did it so Saito must be in Boss...which means that ending scene where Date & Aiba talk with Boss is Date & Aiba talking to Saito...which means in this timeline, Saito would know that Aiba exists (and would likely research). So Saito would never take Aiba as his fake eye in this route...which means in this route, it’s highly likely Saito will survive. I mean in the resolution route he took a beating from Mizuki and Date and still got away and outsmarted them - he only got taken down cause of Aiba. So the Ota Route is officially the ‘Saito Wins’ Route.
Also, why did Saito never go after Mizuki? Saito’s whole thing is how he’s getting revenge on Date for taking his body by killing those around him...so why leave out Mizuki? Mizuki who FREAKING LIVES with Date, the one out of the group he sees the most, and thus might be the most attached to. IAH, Saito should have gone from Shoko to Renju to Mizuki to Iris to So to Boss to Date. After killing Shoko & sending the message to Mizuki Saito should have waited there for Mizuki to show up and then lie to her. Mizuki loves Renju and believes everything he says (something Saito would have definitely picked up on in a year). It would have been easy for him to lie and say someone threatened him into coming and he invited her to have his super strong daughter with him. Then used Renju’s body to change into Mizuki. Mizuki’s good friends with Iris (something Saito also had to know) so that makes that transfer easy too. And he would have killed another person close to Date...
On a side note, I feel bad for Saito. He’s like how he is because of his condition; he kills because it’s the only way he’s ever able to feel happy...obviously the tech in Aiba wasn’t around when he was a child to help him and supply the oxytocin he so desperately needed. What would have happened if they had tried to help him instead of kill him? I mean Date (as Falco) killed tons of people with a perfectly functioning brain on his own and then gets recruited by the Yakuza to kill more. It’s 18 at least BEFORE the Yakuza and then more after...so lots of bodies. But then he grows a heart and the Boss forgives him and covers it up. But Saito kills 5 (Manaka + 4) and then 2 more (in most routes) b/c of a brain condition (one of those was as a minor too) and they’re all ready to condemn him to death? Where’s Saito’s 2nd chance? Why not make a second Aiba and let her continue to supply Saito’s original body with it and try and help him? It's wacky. They’re both murderers who have killed people; one has a brain problem and the other doesn’t. And yet one is condemable to death and the other is forgivable?
I also feel bad for So who everyone seems to hate. I mean freak the guy tried obviously but it was probably too much for him. Dead wife and a psycho son who can’t be treated...at least he TRIED and didn’t abandon his kid! There’s anger whenever he talks about Saito but it’s not all directed AT Saito - part of it is self hatred. He’s blaming himself, to a degree, wondering if he could have done something different to have a better outcome. I mean the obviously loved his son; he kept trying to protect him and hide all his misdeeds; you don’t do that if you don’t love your kid! And yet because of Saito’s condition, he probably never got anything back from him... Is it any wonder he’s so cold and bitter now?
"In the Famitsu Interview, Kotaro Uchikoshi and Akira Okada state that following the Ota Route (and indirectly the Mizuki Route), So Sejima, now living under the identity "Iris Sagan" in her body, eventually becomes Prime Minister of Japan, using Iris's looks to climb the political ladder. The interview notes that this statement was made as a joke among the two”
I like to think this would actually happen....
FE3H Characters Ranked
My opinions of all the main characters in FE3H ranked from worst to best in my opinion. These are MY opinions! Spoilers ahead, obviously.
*NOTES*
This does not include any of the DLC characters. This also does not include the following characters since they have limited dialog / appearances within the game: Gwendal, Pallardo, Duke Aegir, Anna, Lambert, Ionious, Metodey, Kostas, Holst, Macuil, and Indech. Any other characters who are only mentioned by name are also not included. And Byleth is also not on this list due to being the player’s character.
Everyone else included in this list has a few interactions or mentions in multiple ending paths so they’re fair game. Not having a lot of interactions is not going to affect placement that much so don’t be surprised if some major characters wind up low on the list…
*The PIT*
Aka the worst of the worst. The characters I would throw into the void.
#54 – Leonie
I absolutely hate this character so much. Her personality is so flat and grating that she drives me up a wall. Her character can be summed up in two words “loves Jeralt” – that’s it. Just about everything about Leonie revolves around impressing Jeralt or being like Jeralt or doing this because of Jeralt ect. I don’t care if she’s useful as a playable character – every time she opens her mouth I cringe. Her support which is only available after Jeralt dies in which she berates you for “not appreciating him enough” is just the epitomny of selfishness. Then PTS she basically turns herself into a second Jeralt, replicting his outfit as best she can and giving herself his title “the blade breaker” and adds a 2. Excuse you, but is ANYONE can call themseleves that it’s Byleth, aka Jeralt’s child, not YOU. But she doesn’t care and does it anyway...
#53 – Rodrigue
Oh boy this is going to be a very unpopular opinion but in terms of a character, Rodrigue is kind shit. Rodrigue earns this spot for being the shittiest living parent in the game. His eldest son Glenn dies and his comment on that is how “he died like a true knight”. His first emotional response is pride not remorse. He never mentions how much he loved him or how he misses him: just how proud he was of him… And this pisses off poor Felix. Felix whom gets left ALONE after this happens because Rodrigue decides he’s got to be Dimitri’s mentor / guardian. So he basically straight up abandons his grieving 13 year old son to be the new father figure of the prince. Dimitri was more important to him that his own child. We can all see what the impact of this was on Felix through the game. And then, in Azure Sky, when Rodrigue joins you as a “mentor” character, he lacks all balls. Dimitri is going crazy and acting like a psychopath and Rodrigue doesn’t even really try to do anything about that – he just stands aside and comments on how he’s “changed”. I mean FRICK MAN – your were his guardian, his mentor. TALK TO HIM! But NOOOOOOO! So yeah, Rodrigue sucks!
#52 – Lord Lonato
Speaking of shit parents, here’s another for you! Yes, Lonato was kind enough to allow Ashe and his siblings to live with him, which is the oddest decision ever considering this came about after Lonato caught Ashe sneaking into his castle to steal from him. “I’ll just adopt this thief child”. Despite that act of kindness, he also chose to not tell Ashe the truth about what happened to his son Christophe; that Christophe was not involve with the Duscar incident but rather had been a part of a plot to try and kill Rhea. Lonato could not bring himself to believe that his son was wrong or had done anything wrong. Despite the fact that his son had decided, for whatever reason, to try and kill someone, Lonato thought that this was okay. He then sacrificed himself for the sake of trying to avenge his true son instead of continuing to care for the children he’d taken in. He basically took Ashe & his siblings in, giving them security for the first time in years, then chooses to follow his only wrong beliefs and thus put Ashe & his siblings back into the world again. He gave them 7 years of security and this just went “oh well, you’re on your own again”.
#51 – Gilbert /  Gustave
And rounding out the “shit parents” section of the list, we have the father that literally abandons his daughter and wife due to own depression. He’s totally alive and out there but just can’t bring himself to give a crap about either or write them any letters. Nope, he’s caught up in his head that he wasn’t there during the tragedy of Duscar, of how he “should have arrived sooner”. I mean, really? It is in now way his fault just because he’s a knight. He wasn’t supposed to be there and he’s got guilt that he wasn’t there? Seriously man?! And then when he finally does reunite with Annette all he does is push her away. Instead of letting Annette decide whatever she wants to be around him again, he chooses for her and denies her attempts to reconnect with him. Yeah, shit father…
*The Bottom of the Barrel*
These characters are bad. They’re not absolute utter garbage like the PIT characters, but they still are awful.
#50 – Dimitri
Yeah, I don’t like Dimitri. What is there to like about this guy? He was traumatized as a teenage when his dad was killed in-front of him and that changed him into a survival-guilt ridden bloodthirsty killer? Jeez, it honestly feels like someone tried to ft a whole bunch of tropes into one cohesive character and failed massively. The whole “brooding” phase in Azure Sky where he’s basically a tantrum throwing 5 year old only makes him worse. Also, I still don’t understand WHY he immediately jumped to the whole “Edelgard is the one who killed my parents” conclusion. The entire Duscar incident had nothing to do with Edelgard, unless Dimitri thinks a teenager with no power could do that. And, if he’s blaming the Empire, why does that extend to Edelgard who was just a princess at the time? I could see if something like the FE was present and that’s why he went crazy after Edelgard but I’m pretty sure the FE didn’t exist back then… so WTF? This is like “my parents were killed by a drunk driver. Hey you, unrelated person who just learned to drive this year, you are drunk therefore I HATE YOU – you killed my parents!” Really, no. NO.
#49 – Acheron
He has a minor role only but you fight him twice and you can get some background from Lorenz. He’s annoying and I guess he’s designed to be so. I don’t like him much. But he’s not as annoying as Dimitri.
#48 – Cyril
Oh Cyril. He’s such an annoying character. He’s a more toned down version of Leonie with his obsession with Rhea. He’s a bit of a jerk during his support conversations and he’s dismissive of his homeland. I think his supports with Seteth best show what Cyril’s all about: he’s devoting himself to repaying Rhea without thought for anything else, even his own future. He has no ambitions and no desires….how can a character be so bland?
#47 – Hannerman
And the obsessive one. ‘Obsession with Crests’ is just the only phrase you need to describe Hannerman. While I can understand why Hannerman as a character wants to research crests, the way he goes about it is just wrong. He hounds Lysithia w/o realizing why she’s avoiding his questions until she basically has to spell out WHY she’s uncomfortable with talking about it. He’s been hounding Seteth for 21 years about his crest and Flayn’s too. 21 fricking years of bothering someone and he can’t understand the answer “no”.
#46 – Arundel
Yeah, he’s a piece of shit but at least he’s interesting. He’s Edelgard’s uncle and yet he basically allowed her to be experimented on. Why? Who knows? He’s associated with TWSITD but why? Power? Conquest? He’s mysterious. His personality “suddenly changed” leaving the option open that he was replaced and the Arundel that exists now is a fake. He’s intriguing but he’s still a piece of crap.
#45 – Dedue
Oh Dedue. I feel like Dedue is stuck playing the “victim” card but without looking for sympathy. He’s from Duscar so everyone looks down on him...and Dedue just takes it. He doesn’t try to defend himself or say that just because he’s from Duscar doesn’t mean he’s evil. He does nothing to try and change anyone’s opinions – he’s content to just sit and take it. But then he talks about wanting to have the world move past the tragedy….so which is it Dedue? In order to have it change, you need to actually DO SOMETHING!!!!
#44 – Thales
The weakest character of the main three. The game tells you almost nothing about Thales...and then you go and read the wiki and find out he’s Arundel….yeah mind telling us that game?! So he’s higher than Arundel.
#43 – Nemesis
Another evil character with no personality or real background. Why did he start his rampage? Was he manipulated or just evil? Who knows….
#42 – Judith
Judith has such a small role unless you’re playing VW. And in VW she’s a bit of a bitch who treats Claude as a misbehaving child even after he proves himself again and again.
#41 – Nader
AKA the Alymrian general you meet briefly in VW and in CF. He’s in for less than a few minutes and he appears to be jolly/happy and has the rep of being an undefeated general. I guess he’s alright. But with no real role I can’t bring myself to feel anything for him
#40 – Annette
When I first played I was on the fence with Annette. I sorta liked her determination and her drive to reunite her family. But then her singing started...and oh boy do I hate her singing. So many of her supports center around that annoying singing! Just STOP already, please! Also WTF is that blue “tab” in her PTS redesign that’s right on her butt? It’s the only one...
#39 – Ferdinand
Ferdinand’s personality is just...annoying. From his meme’d battle line to his constant talk of “being a noble” he just grates my nerves. And why does he act like this? Because his father is not and he’s trying to not be like his father and be a “good person”….
*The Low-End*
These characters are “eh” characters. They’re aren’t too good or too bad...but they lean more towards bad than good.
#38 – Kronya / Monica
This was an interesting idea. I just wish she had been more involved or usable. Like if you’re playing BE house, she becomes a playable member. Something to endear her a bit more other than “this other random character you rescued who acts suspiciously”. Let’s face it, we all knew something was up with her. And then she’s killed off so easily and quickly...
#37 – Cornelia
Okay, she’s a bit interesting and a manipulator. They weren’t afraid to give her an “ugly face”. She’s a schemer and not afraid to flaunt her assets to give her an advantage.
#36 – Alois
Eh. Alois. Loves jokes, very loyal. I guess he’s alright but he’s not spectacular and some of the jokes and just so so so so so so bad.
#35 – Ashe
Ashe is another character that I think lacked development. I mean he just gained a slight bit of confidence and purpose but he’s not one for much change. His personality over all is a bit bland: he likes stories about knights and is worried about his siblings. Oh and he used to be a thief.
#34 – Jeritza
Bland because he’s meant to be bland. His other personality is typical “killer knight”. What saves Jeritza is his support conversations where you get background and you realize why he’s the way he is.
*The Middle Ground*
These characters are right in the middle. Not great but not awful.
#33 – Ladislava
In every ending except CF, you only get to see her once but in CF you can chat with her and learn more about her. She’s the head of Edelgard’s person guard and its heavily implied she had next to nothing before this appointment. She’s fully loyal to Edelgard, even willing to die for her cause.
#32 – Flame Emperor
I listed this character separate since FE is an enigma. I actually liked the design of the FE and the whole mystery surrounding them.
#31 – Manuela
I’m...ambivalent about Manuela. She’s a drunken whiner at time and other time she turns into something sweet and reliable. She’s so worried about her age but she’s NOT that old. It’s a bit trope-y though...to have an older character all concerned about her age.
#30 – Jeralt
Jeralt’s a good dad character albeit a flawed one too. It’s a shame they didn’t give him any support conversations to flesh him out more. As it is most of what we learn about Jeralt comes from others.
#29 – Sothis
I don’t hate Sothis like most. She’s a bit bratty, yes but look at from her way – she’s got no memories, no recollections, and has found herself somehow stuck with this person. She tries to help out Byleth best she can, even if it sometimes leads to near disaster.
#28 – Gatekeeper
A nice wholesome character who always wants to help out and be useful. He’s a nice guy but suffers from lack of characterization.
#27 – Mercedes
First off, I dislike the “breathy” quality of her voice. She’s a very nice girl and very kind...but that’s about all there is to Mercedes...
#26 – Raphael
Ah, the big guy who loves to eat. He’s overprotective but not too overprotective of his little sister. He’s strong, interested in his muscles, and in getting stronger but it’s because he’s shouldering the responsible of taking care of his sister. Still he’s a bit trope-y.
#25 – Lindhardt
Lindhardt make up your dang mind! He talks about wanting to study crests but when he’s offered by two separate people to do just that he complains about how he’s being “tied down”. Really? His laziness and sleepiness also gets tired after a while.
#24 – Ignatz
Ignatz is a character who shows a lot of growth and goes from having no confidence in what he wants to do to finding his path. However Ignatz remains a pushover who gives in to whatever anyone advises even when he knows its wrong. It takes a long, long, long time for Ignatz to learn to have any say in himself...which is why he’s down here.
#23 – Solon
The most developed of the three main TWSITD characters. I feel his reveal as Tomas was ruined by the poorly executed Monica / Kronya earlier. However he was unexpected. Who expects the librarian? It would have been better if they didn’t have him as “suspect” in the whole Flayn is missing part through.
#22 – Randolph
You only really get to know Randolph in CF although he’s got a minor part in AS where we see that he truly cares for his sister and how he feels he must do this, even if he risks dying. In CF, we get to learn more about Randolph. He’s actually a step-uncle to Caspar through his mother marrying into the family. He has no power or clout so everything he earns is done by action. It’s a shame they killed him off so early.
#21 – Caspar
Caspar is a good character in several ways. He’s not depressed about not being the heir to his house and is motivated to find his own way. He knows he’s flawed and in his supports he tries to change only to learn that he’s better off following his own path. It’s his boisterous yelling and charging headfirst into danger is what I don’t like about him.
*The High Side*
These are characters I like. They’re not the best but I like them and can understand them.
#20 – Hilda
Ah Hilda. Hilda’s one of those characters that surprise you. Hilda starts off being this lazy character who doesn’t want to battle and doesn’t want to do chores. Not because she can’t do them, but just because she’s lazy. You see her trying to get out of things in her supports only to either feel guilty or wind up helping someone learn something. But I think where Hilda shines is in VW where she acts as Claude’s “advisor” and some of Claude’s best plans come from suggestions from Hilda. By then she’s come into her own. I also enjoy Hilda’s C support with Seteth greatly where he just lists all the excuses she’s given flat out as Hilda gets more and more nervous.
#19 – Claude
Claude made it up here due to his unprediacbility. Some of his plots/schemes are downright hillarious. Claude is unashamed of who he is and where he comes from – he knows who he is and who he wants to become. And, in a game riddled with characters who struggle with that very issues, Claude’s a bit of a breath of fresh air.
#18 – Fleche
Ah Fleche. She’s a very minor character but she’s got such an impact on the story in AM – this is what path we’re going to discuss. We first meet Fleche when she’s talking with Randolph, her brother, right before Randolph heads out on a mission that will ultimately end with his death. Instead of doing the typical thing for a young girl which is to cry, Fleche goes ‘nah’ and decides to take revenge. She disguises herself as a “maiden” and goes to try and join the Kingdom Army; she’s allowed to by Dimitri. Fleche bides her time and waits until after a big battle and then straight up goes and tries to murder Dimitri. She actually stabs him once and barely fails in her task of killing him. Against Dimitri, one of the strongest characters... a little girl.. Yeah, Fleche is kinda badass.
#17 – Miklan
Okay, so here’s another good sympathetic villain character. Miklan was born with no crest so he was looked down upon by his family. He was the first child however so his family kept him...at least until his brother Sylvain was born with a crest. Then Milan became “garbage” and useless in the eyes of his family and thus was disinherited. He lashed out against his brother multiple times. With no one on his side, Milkan became the leader of a group a bandits and began taking things he wanted, things he felt he should have had, by any means necessary. He later stole the heirloom lance from his family, intent of keeping it and its power for himself. While it’s true Miklan is not a nice person at all, more like a sadist, the reason he became that way was due the treatment of his family.
#16 – Dorothea
I am in the camp of the very few who like Dorothea’s second outfit better than her first – that dress is boss. Some of her supports are downright sweet and her interactions with Ingrid in their paralogue are just adorable. I love how we get to see so many different sides of Dorothea and how she treats each of her aquantinces with the side of herself that’s most appropiate.
#15 – Shamir
The silent Shamir. Unlike so many characters who talk and talk and talk, Shamir only speaks when necessary until she gets close to someone. Her skills are top-knotch, which is showcased in her supports. Her personality is a reflection of her work and the kind of jobs she does as well as her way of protecting herself. She’s mysterious and deadly.
#14 – Rhea
Oh Rhea. I’m often torn in the way I feel about her, going from understanding to becoming frustrated with her within the span of a single conversation. Her desire to see her mother is what drives everything she does – every single thing. She is 100% committed to trying to reach her goal, no matter the cost, and she’s been at it for almost an eon. Outside of that goal, what she’s doing she truly believes is the right thing. She’s trying to guide people towards the right path and away from conflict. She lets no one truly into her innermost thoughts, not even Seteth, and her emotions are all sequested away, so much so that when they do come out it becomes obvious. I mean, for anyone who thinks she’s nuts, let’s take a look at some of the trauma she’s gone through. Her beloved mother, whom she obviously cared for more than anything, was murdered and her body was used to make a weapon. Said weapon was then used to slaughter the vast majority of her brethern who were then in turn alos turned into weapons to be used to kill. She had to then fight the man who had killed her mother to reclaim what’s left of her body and to stop any more pointless killing. Yeah, Rhea’s had it rough.
#13 – Marianne
Ah, sweet Marianne. It was great to watch her change and grow based on her supports with the other characters. Her caring nature towards the animals, espcially the horses, was lovely – she even knows the names of a few of them (the only one to refer to the horses by name). I like how her PTS outfit reflects the changes she’s overcome – even the subtly of making her hair neater.
#12 – Catherine
Badass female knight with a legendary sword. She’s brash, not lady-like, and not afraid of anything really. The way she rushes into combat w/o a though for danger, the fact that she doesn’t try and hide her past from the person whom it affects the most, and her way of testing people. Catherine’s great.
#11 – Hubert
Juts missing the top 10 is loyal Hubert. I’ll admit I didn’t like Hubert at first but he grew on me bit by bit. Hubert’s S-Support with Byleth is like the cutest thing ever – I was not expecting it at all. This is loyalty done in a good way.
*The Summit*
The best characters in the game, IMO. These are the characters I love!
#10 – Petra
I got to admit, I like her not-perfect talking. That’s so much of Petra’s charm. Adding to that is how Petra’s always trying her best and trying to advance herself. She has modest goals she wishes to reach and doesn’t try and sell herself as better than she is. She’s always willing to learn and to help others. When there’s someone with a different opinion, Petra tries to understand why they feel the weay they feel and to try and find common ground.
#9 – Lysithia
Oh poor girl. Lysithia struggles with others seeing her as a child or too childish due to the fact that she’s younger than most of the students. She’s incredibly intellegent and throws herself into her studies. Both of these things lead to others teasing her, either playfully or actually. Instead of taking it stride, this ‘teasing’ causes her temper to show and erupt. She can’t tell them WHY she’s trying so hard, why she’s so desperate to achieve cause that would reveal her secret. She’s burrying all this hurt and anger deep inside that she can’t talk about because can understand what she went through (except perhaps Edelgard). And even though she knows she’s going to likely die soon, she’s not focused on her own life: she’s doing all she’s doing to try and help her family...
#8 – Sylvain
Sylvain quickly became one of my favorite blue lion boys. At first glance he looks like this degenerate womanizer...and then you learn abut him and why Sylvain is why he is. His father views him as a studhorse and that his crest is the only good thing about him; his father literally cannot see Sylvain as an actual person, just a way to further the family. Having a father like this and a brother who hates him for having been born with a crest has greatly shaped Sylvain. In order to have some semblence of himself, Sylvain began to act out, to do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING he could to not be what he was supposed to be. His father wanted a noble son; Sylvain did everything he could to not be that. This got him into trouble again and again but Sylvain didn’t care. Sylvain is willing to do things that make others look down upon him if it helps him try and escape from his life...
#7 – Bernadetta
Aw, Bernie. Bernie’s such a good girl. Based on what she went through, it’s amazing she’s even sane. Her father’s idea of parenting was tying her to a chair and forcing her to remain quiet and submissive for hours, to “teach her to be a good wife” which is the reason she turned into such a nervous wreck of shut-in. He resorted to beating to near death a boy she made friends with because he was a commoner, which terrified Bernie into not wanting to make friends at all. Bernie’s mom seemed to have a little sense and smuggled her out but this is only AFTER she allows this stuff to go on for years – YEARS. Bernie’s had years of psycological trama inflicted on her and then she gets thrust into a school surrounded by people whom she has to interact with. The poor thing. It’s a testament to her professors and friends to see how far Bernie has come; to watch her change and grow as she slowly comes around to adjusting to normality.
#6 – Ingrid
There is something incredibly entertaining about a lady knight who loves to gorge herself on food. Loving eating food is generally a character trait you see on guys (typically big guys like Raphael) so to see it on a chick is a good change of pace. Her whole no-nonsense strict attitude is a great contrast to that. She’s not girly or into very lady-like things such as dresses or makeup or tea parties. Ingrid is a guy’s soul in a girl’s body….and she’s amazing.
#5 – Felix
If you haven’t read the entry for Rodrigue (he’s #53 on this list) go read that first. After all that shit that Felix’s gone through, it’s amazing he’s even still standing and capable. He’s stewing with anger and grief that he’s never been able to work through and it manifests as anger and his stand-off attitude. Poor freaking Felix.
#4 – Flayn
Fishy Queen. I do not get the hate for Flayn. She’s been horribly oversheleted by Seteth in his attempts to protect her so it’s left Flayn a bit naive. Flayn’s usually very cheery and happy which is a bright light in the depressing war times. She’s also a quite capable mage, mainly with healing magic but she can also learn a good bit of reason magic too. Flayn is always trying her best while trying to fit in with the others – she’s over 1000 years old, mind you! It can’t be easy trying to fit in when you don’t understand and when a vast majorirty of those years were spent asleep. She was involved in an ancient battle where she was badly injured (Seteth blames it on her being too young) and requires sleep inorder to heal. Meanwhile everyone else she knew and lived with aside from Seteth was killed. She wakes up an everything she knew and just about everyone she knew is just...gone. Not only her beloved mother but any friends she had too are just gone. It’s no wonder she fears falling asleep when this is what happened. Her obession with fish? It’s Flayn’s coping mechanism for dealing with the loss of her mother. Flayn explains on numerous occassions that she spent lots of time sitting with her mother while she fished and that fish is her favorite food due “to no small part” of this pastime. Fishing and eating fish is Flayn’s way of remembering her mother and dealing with the fact that she’s no longer with her. Flayn’s supports are just great; they all develop her personality more. With Dimitri and Dedue, Flayn’s cooking is explored. Flayn can’t cook although she tries her best. With Dedue, Flayn tries to learn to cook better. With Dimitri, Flayn expresses her disdain that no one enjoys her cookings and how this wastes food, even when she tries her best. Obviously Flayn never cooked before – her mother did most of it. Now there’s no one in her family to cook so Flayn’s trying to learn to try and follow in her mom’s footsteps. With Ignatz and Manuela, Flayn’s exploring things she never has seen or done before: the opera for Manuela and paintings with Ignatz. In Claude’s and Lindhardt’s supports, Flayn sidesteps questions about her heritage and her crests. With Sylvain, we see how Flayn grows and learns to not trust the rumors others say. In Felix’s, she’s trying to help Felix find a purpose after the war ends that still allows him to use his sword. With Raphael’s it’s Flayn who’s being helped by Raphael as she tries to “grow stronger”; she even mentions how she’s frail and how this worries Seteth. And then there’s Ferdinand’s supports where it’s clear Flayn’s been starved of physical affections aside from Seteth. And their supports, between Seteth and Flayn, are a great progression between the two...Overall, I love little Flayn.
#3 – Lorenz
I like noble boy. I will admit, I hated his schooldays haircut with a burning passion...and then man on man did he become HOT pts. Winner of the best boy glow-up. A lot of Lorenz’s character flaws are the fault of his father. His father taught him that all that is important is being nobility and Lorenz ate it up, not knowing any better. His father instilled into him how he neeed to find a wife to further the family’s influence and thus how she must be a noble. This worked so well on Lorenz to the point that he willing to even give up someone he loves if they happen to be a commoner. Lorenz spends a lot of time trying to ‘interview’ girls to find his perfect noble bride, coming off as a bit on an ass – even when he’s confronted by Byleth he refuses to believe he’s done anything wrong since this is what his father taught him to do. It takes a long time until Lorenz starts seeing that he is wrong that what his father taught him is wrong. He starts using his own head and his own eyes to determine what is instead of using the opinion blasted into him by his father. He’s always trying to help other, feeling it’s his obligation as a noble to help those around him, which is a quality that he alone seems to take seriously (despite the school being filled with nobles). He originally dislikes Claude cause he believes that Claude isn’t taking his responsibility as the next Alliance head seriously since Claude is so laid back. He eventually comes to see that, despite appearances, Claude is working on the issues and is capable. His S support with Byleth where he mentions how he has "worked tirelessly to improve" "to become a man truly worthy of (Byleth)" and then is uttely shocked if Byleth tells him he already was worthy shows how dedicated he can be. With Ignatz, he instills confidence in him, seeing talent in Ignatz for art and talking about how there is more to knighthood than combat. His poetry writing comes out with Manuela’s supports and he convinces Hilda through actions to actually throw herself into battle. But I think his best supports are with Marianne. The vast majority of her supports are the others telling her to “be more confident” or “smile more” or other such things where they give her advice on how to improve...but Lorenz is the only one who comes to see that nothing needs to change. He starts by complementing her and then commenting on how she “needs polish” only to realize he was wrong and state she is “becautiful just the way she is”, accepting her fully for who she is without looking to change a thing. He is, essentially, telling her she is perfect the way she is and she doesn’t need to change at all for him to love her...which I find just so utterly sweet.
#2 – Edelgard
Edel gets a lot of hate but I honestly love her character so much. Edelgard is a doer not someone who sits by and does nothing. Due to things outside of her (and her father’s) control, she would up the victim in an experiment, a experiment that killed all of her siblings. Edelgard alone survived although at a cost. That experience forever changed her. Gone was the child and in her place rose Lady Edelgard. Unlike Lysithia who is dealing with her similar situation by trying to provide for her family before her time runs out, Edelgard isn’t. Her goal is the destruction of the circumstances that caused the experiment as well as those who caused the experiment to happen upon her so that this cannot happen again to anyone else. Since the experiment were done to give crests and since Edelgard has obviously seen how some children are treated whent hey have / do not have one, she aims to destroy all of that. Edelgard is literally stomping her foot down and saying ‘no, this isn’t a good or fair system and I’m not going to stand around and let it continue’. She’s willing to sacrifice everything to attain this goal, even if it turns her into a monster or ends in her death. Instead of waiting for the world to change, Edelgard decides to BE the change. She knows she’s going to be responsible for the deaths of a lot of people and she clearly struggles with the idea of this but in the end she decides that if she does nothing than that number will be greater so she persists. She burries her desire for friends and for love because she can’t bring herself to trust or rely on others – her father loved her but couldn’t protect her; the nobles in her father’s court are resonsible for hurting her too. They had her trust and they betrayed it. Her heart has been broken already; I don’t think she wants to risk it breaking again by trusting someone who will betray her, by making friends who can abandon her, by falling in love with someone who doesn’t understand what she’s doing. In CF when you side with Edelgard, you get to see more of that emotion slowly come out. Think on the PTS reunions: Dimitri was in disbelief and then apathetic that Byleth was alive; Claude was slightly surprised but then glad; Edelgard though broke down. Edelgard was the only one to get so emotional over Byleth’s return – someone she had trusted whom had returned that trust wasn’t dead after all; there wasn’t another corpse to add to the pile of people she cared for. And in that final animatic where Byleth falls – she’s clearly so upset. She’s crying, clearly devistated. Devistation which turns into laughter when Byleth revives because she can’t believe it. I stand by my opinion that Crimson Flower is the canon ending for FE3H. It’s the only ending where the endings song is different; all 3 other paths have the same song “Edge of Dawn” but not CF – you get something different. Add to that that EoD is sung by Edelgard. And let’s not forget the symbolism. The game is Fire Emblem. What’s a fire emblem? Crest of Flames. Who posess this crets out of the main cast: Byleth & Edelgard. And in CF you unite. Also notice the same letters. Crimson Flower (CF) & Crest of Flames (CF). That’s not a coincidence.
#1 – Seteth
I honestly could fill pages on why I love Seteth as a character but for here I’ll try and keep it shortish. I’ll start with his supports. Seteth’s supports are all about his advice to the others and him trying to guide them. For Cyril, he’s talking about how it’s great to repay debts but it is also important to consider one’s future as well; he doesn’t want to see Cyril just waste his whole life in servitude to Rhea but rather to grow into his own. With Catherine, it’s concern over her safety, over how she throws herself into battle without care for the consequences. For Manuela, it starts with a lecture over her drinking habits but turns into something far more personal when his wife and daughter get mentioned. Outside of the paralogue, this is the only time an outside person gets to learn that Seteth even had/has a wife and daughter and it’s Manuela who gets told it, implying a deeper friendship. Hannerman’s involves his investiagtion of Seteth’s crest and how Seteth is constantly refuting him, obviously trying to protect himself and Flayn from others finding out the truth. With Leonie, he teaches her how to relax while fishing while she improves his own skills in the area. For Hilda, he’s trying to improve her work ethic first by confronting her about her excuses, and then by writing a story about her laziness...which does work somewhat as it gets her to work on illustrations. For Ingrid, he’s a voice of reason about the demands of her father and he’s the one who suggests that Ingrid simply talk to him about her issues, something which she didn’t consider. For Felix, he’s trying to help Felix realize his beliefs are holding him back and that he needs to make friends. With Bernie, he helps her build some confidence in her own skills and talents. And of course we can’t forget his interactions with Flayn where he goes from overly protective, to realizing he’s a bit too overbearing, to actual apologizing for that. Seteth acts as a conduit or a spark that helps inspire change in those around him, to wake up potential, or to see things differently. He’s strict and often seems somewhat unreasonable about rules and regulations but its obvious this is his way of trying to protect people. He’s shouldering massive guilt over the events that happened in the last war. He personally blames himself for Flayn being hurt and for his wife dying. This event spurred him on to becoming overprotective of his daughter, of the only thing he had left. Seteth is doing what he’s doing to PROTECT his child (unwilling to see her to come to harm), even if he’s going about it in the incorrect way. He has literally devoted his whole life to protecting Flayn to the point that when she gets kidnapped, he falls apart at the seams and is unable to do anything at all except despair and distress. Flayn has become his whole world and just about everything Seteth does is to protect her or help her. That kind of devotion from a father is incredible, especially in a series where most of the parents kinda suck. I also adore how he breaks the typical “paper-skinned mage” trope. Let’s face it, most of us probably thought the stern chuch advisor was likely going to be a mage – and then we get a wyvern rider with a lance. I could go on and on, but I’ll leave it here. Seteth is just the best character.
Here here. Most (not all but most) show reboots are just awful...
Don’t forget about the original She-Ra series. That was a 80s show and they...changed into something that so’s drastically different from the original. I don’e even recognize this show anymore... It’s so different it could be it’s own thing if you just gave the characters different names.
And they’re doing it with classic 90s shows too! Reboot anyone? That was one of the best and it got mauled into a disastrous live action hybrid with "one personality trope” kids and the “robot stuck as a person” thing that hasn’t been interesting or funny in forever. Not to mention the Carmen Sandiego reboot where they took CS, the main villain of the show (hence why she was cool) and turned her into a good girl... Why, just why? Why do they keep doing this whole “the bad guy is actually a good guy” reboot....
I know lots of people like to hate on the 80s but can we PLEASE bring it back in terms of like.. designs for children’s content??
please I am begging you.
let’s go back to the 80′s Popples, Furbys, Rainbow Brite, Strawberry Shortcake, etc etc… I hate a lot of the modern reboots of these where they completely strip the character and personality and life out of these characters and shows and toys…
I miss the looks of the 80s originals.
Every Danganronpa Character Ranked
Just MY opinions; all 3 main series game characters (not including Monokuma). Obvious spoilers ahead. Ranked worst to best.
The Bottom Featuring characters I don’t like AT ALL.
#48 - Kokichi Oma <D3> I don't know WHY people like this little shit. He reminds me of the arrogant snotty kid from grade school who had to have ALL the attention. This was the character in D3 I was rooting for to die soonest. I just don't get the hype over this spoiled brat.
#47 - Nagito Komaeda <D2> I found him so annoying. I get it, you like chaos but please STFU! His constant meddling in the class trials, his personality, and the way he went out bother me. Seriously, if someone's holding a knife over their chest and you accidentally bump into them causing the knife to kill them, I don't think that counts as murder!
#46 - Tenko Chabashira <D3> And rounding out the worst three is the most annoying female character ever - Tenko. She's blunt and offensive and her attitude towards men is disgusting. I was very very happy when she was offed.
#45 - Hiyoko Saionji <D2> Another annoying and crass character. Starting to see the trend? Well she's awful too. The fact that she'll insult someone but then break out into crocodile tears if SHE's insulted is just an awful character trait and she uses that "I'm a cute little girl" thing way too much. Plus she’s in high school and can’t change clothes on her own....
#44 - Mahiru Koizumi <D2> Another one who just rubs you the wrong way. She's also got that diastase for men...and that + her talent seem to be her only real personality traits.
#43 - Teruteru Hanamura <D2> Bet a lot of peeps expected this guy to be lower. Well, unlike the previous lot, there are actually a few good things about him. Yes he's the "pervy" character but I honestly didn't find him as offensive as some of the other pervy characters from different games...
#42 - Sayaka Maizono <D1> She's really bad at being a killer and awful for trying to frame someone. Plus I think she's kinda dumb. I was suspicious of her from the moment she starting cuddling up to Makoto who was someone she only recognized from being in the same grade as him and never having spoken to. Yeah, that's a giant red flag. Also, why did she attempt to kill a boy?! She might have succeeded in her killing if she had chosen a girl, which just makes her dumb. Also notice she chose the athlete, the one who probably trained and has muscles...Yeah, dummy.
#41 - Rantaro Amami <D3> He's supposed to be the ultimate survivor but he has no skills. And you can't really go "well his memory was wiped" since this was his 2nd game and he managed his 1st without dying in the first few days to stupidity. I also don't get why anyone likes him that much.
#40 - Aoi Asahina <D1> Another character I don't get why they're so popular. She seems like a bobblehead with a lack of brains. I'm baffled as to how she made it to the end w/o being killed.
#39 - Himiko Yumeno <D3> And rounding out the characters I dislike is Himiko. Just WHY? She insists she's a "mage" and refuses to talk about how her "magic" works. She reminds me of a 5 year old who never grew up. Another character that I don't get why she lived cause she's such an easy target!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Middle Featuring characters who I neither really liked nor disliked. Most of these are 'eh' characters for me.
#38 - Kiyotaka Ishimaru <D1> I find him annoying yet I can kind of see why. I was debating whether he belonged down on the bottom part but he’s tolerable at times.
#37 - Shuichi Saihara <D3> Protagonist = not much character in most of Danganronpa. Shuichi has a character but it’s not a good one. Man the frick up already!
#36 - Kaito Momota <D3> In the beginning of D3, I didn’t mind him. As D3 went on he started grating on my nerves more and more...
#35 - Ryoma Hoshi <D3> Another character that suffers from not enough character development. He’s also down here b/c I don’t understand him at ALL.
#34 - Makoto Naegi <D1> Another protagonist so another lack of character. I find him better than Shuichi due to his character and humor.
#33 - Gonta Gokuhara <D3> He’s a bug catcher, he’s naive, he wants to be a gentleman, and he’s way too much like Tarzan for my liking.
#32 - Kirumi Tojo <D3> She’s got a lack of personality too. Her whole “I’ll follow any order” thing is...weird even for a maid and I’m surprised that wasn’t abused more.
#31 - Mondo Owada <D1> I can already hear the yelling from the Mondo fans...but Mondo also suffers from a lack of character development until he’s death. When he’s alive, it’s all about the bromance...
#30 - Yasuhiro Hagakure <D1> I felt like his ultimate should have been the ultimate conartist b/c if Yasuhiro has any clairvoyant talent at all, he sure never uses it. He’s that goofy, unreliable character...
#29 - Hifumi Yamada <D1> Another one who’s up higher than most expect eh? At least Hifumi is entertaining at times and made me laugh! And he’s done rather well...but still creepy.
#28 - Chihiro Fujisaki <D1> I’m going to go with “no comment”
#27 - Nekomaru Nidai <D2> I like Nekomaru a bit but some of his potty humor and dirty references I did not find funny, just offputting.
#26 - K1-B0 (Keebo) <D3> He’s a robot so I guess a lack of personality is to be expected. But he’s bland...
#25 - Maki Harukuwa <D3> Another character that suffers from not enough character development. The whole “twist” of her ultimate being different was not a twist considering how Maki acted not at all like a caretaker...
#24 - Twogami (UI) <D2> aka the Impostor. Apparently this is what everyone calls him??? He was good as Byakuya and trying to save everyone but he’s down here cause we never got to know the real person....
#23 - Hajime Hinata <D2> The best of the real protagonist player controlled characters, he’s up this high on a good part due to the anime.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Top Featuring character I did like!
#22- Mukuro Ikusaba <D1> Mukuro gets points for her mystique, for being able to pull of an imitation of someone who was almost opposite her in personality, for the reason that a girl got a kick ass talent that most would have guessed belonged to a dude.
#21 - Mikan Tsumiki <D2> Oh Mikan. She was funny, informational, clutzy, and oddly intuitive. After her trial when she talks about how the her who was here wasn’t real b/c she lacked memories and how memories are the most important thing to define someone was a good idea.
#20 - Kaede Akamatsu <D3> A controllable protag up this high? Notice for Hajime I said “ real protagonist player controlled characters “ cause I don’t count Kaede in that since we get her for such a short time. I wish she HAD been D3′s main protag, cause she had personality and she was good!
#19 - Leon Kuwata <D1> Why is Leon so high? Well I find Leon interesting. His conversations are intriguing and make you want to learn more about Leon...which we can’t.
#18 - Gundham Tanaka <D2> I didn’t know whether to take this guy seriously at first or not. He was entertaining, always saying something cool, and a nice dude under it all.
#17 - Sakura Ogami <D1> I did like Sakura and her contrasting elements and how she struggled with her inner self vs her outer self in the eyes of others.
#16 - Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu <D2> I thought he was a little shit at first until the trial and then I started to like him. He grew on me.
#15 - Tsumugi Shirogane <D3> When she didn’t die or was the killer for the first trial, I knew something was up. She’s bland and meek which makes her the perfect target yet that itself put up a red flag for someone who was not what they seemed.
#14 - Akane Owari <D2> She’s was strong and direct. She reminded me of Sakura only a more personality-infused Sakura who had no troubles.
#13 - Kazuichi Soda <D2> Soda made me laugh a lot but at time he was a little too over the top.
#12 - Ibuki Mioda <D2> Rock chick! Ibuki’s moods and how she shifted was glorious.
#11 - Angie Yonaga <D3> And just missing the top 10 is Angie. Angie was my favorite first impression character from D3 by just looking at the artwork. Her voice so perfect and how she brought everything back to Atua
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Top 10 Need I say more?
#10 - Miu Iruma <D3> The girl genius and inventor. Her personality just struck me as good and how she’s just change from confident to cowed at a moment’s notice.
#9 - Chiaki Nanami <D2> I liked the game’s version of Chiaki. The anime....not so much. She was cute and helpful and kind.
#8 - Sonia Nevermind <D2> A princess. A princess who doesn’t understand some sayings and who likes / admires serial killers. Yup, I’ll go with that.
#7 - Celeste Ludenberg <D1> The liar queen. Her breakdown was epic and how everything about how she was acting and trying to hold things together....
#6 - Peko Pekoyama <D2> Peko was the favorite going into D2 based off artwork and talent information. She did not disappoint. Peko’s skill and devotion were top notch and I wish she’d lasted longer...
#5 - Byakuya Togami <D1> The one antagonistic character I can get behind. Byakuya is what Nagito and Kokichi fail to be - entertaining, enlightening, and intelligent. He follows logic, albeit sometimes twisted to his own tune. He’s a jerk, yes, but its executed so well I can’t help but like him.
#4 - Korekiyo Shinguji <D3> Ah, just missing the top 3 is Korekiyo. Most peeps tend to either like him or hate him and I’m in the like camp. I find him interesting, intriguing, and someone I wanted to spend time around.
#3 - Kyoko Kirigiri <D1> Similarly to Angie and Peko, it was Kyoko’s artwork for D1 that drew me in. Her intuitive nature, her observational skills, her relentless drive to figure out WHO while also searching for her own answers, and her loyalty make Kyoko my bronze winner.
#2 - Junko Enoshima <D> Silver to the Queen of Despair. Junko felt like a good enemy, one you didn’t expect. In the anime her talents shine...but Junko was always going to be up here in the top!
#1 - Toko Fukawa <D1> Toko-chan! I really like Toko. Her two distinct personalities each have their own wit and charm, her switching between is just extra, and she’s probably one of the best fleshed out characters. Plus she’s kickass!
FE3H Playthrough Log
My notes of my progress while playing FE3H. Originally written in my notebook. Still haven’t finished writing this either..
1st Playthrough
Chose Black Eagles (intending to woo over Edelgard) as F!Byleth then immediately got distracted by the hotness that is Seteth...So wound up going Silver Snow with no additional recruit-able characters. Went into my over-raising perfectionist complex and wound up maxing everything I could.
F!Byleth, Petra, Bernie, Dorothea, Caspar, Lindhardt, Ferdinand, Flayn, Seteth, Catherine, and Shamir were all S+ Maxxed out on EVERY SINGLE SKILL with EVERY SINGLE CLASS MASTERED (minus a few of the dark mage/dark bishop classes due to lack of dark seals). Completed all support conversations with all of these characters to the max level.
Chose Seteth for my ending.
Total Time for this playthrough: 144 hours...
Total time spent in Fe3H: 144 hours
2nd Playthrough
Chose M!Byleth this time (and immediately realized his female counterpart is superior) and then Blue Lions. After realizing I liked NONE of the students, I set my sights on my fishy dragon queen Flayn :). Recruited every recruit-able character from GD & BE BEFORE we got to the Gronder Field battle. Then obsessed over support conversations again. Recruited all character I could. Completed all  all support conversations with all of these characters to the max level (only lacked Claude, Edelgard, Jeritza, and Hubert).
Chose Flayn for my ending then realized I could spam the last maps over & over again to choose a different ending (since I had made a new save before choosing Flayn). Went on to do the S rank (Male) endings for Catherine, Gilbert, Alois, and Manuela before I had a memory lapse and accidentally erased the pre-choice file...
Total Time in this playthrough: 100 hours...
Total time spent in Fe3H: 244 hours
3rd Playthrough
After making the mistake above (see last paragraph) and realizing I still had to do a whole bunch of BL endings with the girls before I could never use them again, I decided to redo my last playthrough with M!Byleth and BL house...and try to speed through it as just Byleth...I am bad at this and prone to battle quest for hours to level up skills...
But powered through and wound up doing M!Byleths endings with Ingrid, Annette, Mercedes, Lindhardt, Petra, Dorothea, Bernadetta, Shamir, Leonie, Marianne, Lysithia, and Sothia.
Total Time in this playthrough: 11 hours
Total time spent in Fe3H: 255 hours
4th Playthrough
By this time I am SICK of BL house...and I never want to deal with Dimitri again...so naturally I became F!Byleth to finish off BL for once and all! Again, attempting to speed through as just Byleth with some support. I have practice this time - it should go easier!
Nope, I’m wrong! Somehow I’m even slower this time... But I got done F!Byleths endings with Lindhardt, Dorothea, Ferdinand, Caspar, Mercedes, Sylvain, Felix, Dedue, Dimitri, Ashe, Lorenz, Raphael, Ignatz, Alois, Gilbert, and Hannerman. Maybe b/c I sped through most of the dialog but oddly Sothis was NOT an ending option here...weird.
Total Time in this playthrough: 16 hours
Total time spent in Fe3H: 271 hours
For those keeping track, I’ve basically done every ending I can do except route specific ones (Edelgard, Claude, Hubert, Rhea, Jeritza). I also have ALL the support conversations done between all characters that DO NOT involve one of the 5 characters above...
5th Playthrough
So I finally decided to tackle Golden Deer this time. I chose F!Byleth since I need Claude’s ending. I only recruited the characters that Claude has outside interactions with and focused on a team of GDs. Obviously I was much slower.
I finished F!Byleth’s Claude ending (again no Sothis) in a little over 23 hours. Realizing I still needed Claude’s support conversations with M!Byleth I booted up a new file and played the first 20 or so minutes (until you arrive at your room) and bought Claude’s supports for M!Byleth. I then went back to my file from my first playthrough (SS) and realized I HAD SAVED before the final map...unfortunately the only character I needed from that list was F!Byleth’s Sothis ending so I spent about 20-30 minutes finishing up the last map in SS again to get that.
Total Time in this playthrough: 24 hours
Total time spent in Fe3H: 295 hours
6th & 7th Playthroughs
By now all I need is BE Routes. If I play as F!Byleth, I can finish all 3 S Endings for Crimson Flower. But I still need Rhea’s ending...as both F & M Byleth. So I hatch my plan! CF doesn’t split off until Chapter 11. So, I’ll play BE house, recruit all the characetrs I need to finish Edelgard’s & Hubert’s conversations and then, at the start of chapter 11, I’ll split my save into 2 files. One will go SS for Rhea and the other I’ll then play as CF! Genius! And, if this works, I should be able to go back into a new file as M!Byleth and just play the first 20 minutes & buy the support conversations. This will allow me to finish M!Byleth’s Edelgard, Hubert, and Jeritza (and hopefully Rhea too). Hopefully....I’ve never bought a S-Rank before so hoping this works!
Spent 12 hours in part 1 up to chapter 11 (307 total playthrough hours). I raised the whole team to about level 30 & finished most of their requirements for their master classes. Figured it was easier to do it before the split and then have to not worry too much afterwards....
Decided to finally do Crimson Flower. And it went quick. After only 7 hours I finished Crimson Flower with F!Byleth’s endings for Hubert, Jeritza, and Edelgard. I quickly went into a new game & played the first 10 minutes to access the support logs and bought M!Byleth’s support conversations and endings with Edelgard and Hubert. But Jeritza’s doesn’t exist...until PTS. Which means I’ll need to do an 8th playthrough as M!Byleth in Crimson Flower.....
But for now, I’ll go back and finish SS! All I need is Rhea’s ending...but I have to level up Seteth so he can join the fun! I sped through most of SS...although this bit me in the ass for the final map. Only 5 hours to Rhea ending. Then it was easy to go into a new BE file & buy M!Byleth’s Rhea ending.
Total Time in this playthrough: 12 hours (part 1) + 7 hours (Crimson Flower) + 5 hours (Silver Snow)
Total time spent in Fe3H: - 319 hours.
8th Playthrough
Well, as stated above I can’t buy Jeritza’s supports until they become available which is post time skip.... so I need to do another BE M!Byleth run. I only need to make it to the point where Jeritza joins so just basically to PTS. Given that, I only need to really raise M!Byleth and Edelgard slightly as she’s a required unit on some maps. So speed through the beginning again....for the last time.
NOPE! WRONG! You cannot buy Jeritza’s supports apparently even if you own the counterpart supports ((FYI this works on every other character in the game except for him, so....)) ...so I now need to PLAY THROUGH to the end of CF! This fricking sucks. I now have to grind up the rest of my team (who are all level 20ish) to 40 b/c doing the final two maps with just Byleth is near impossible. Great! Wonderful! Insert another 11 hours!
Total Time in this playthrough: 11 hours...((for those curious this was 5 hours pretime skip & 6 hours post time skip))
Total time spent in Fe3H: - 330 hours!
...and that does it for now....until I decide to tackle the DLC!
But this is FULL COMPLETION! Every Byleth S support done for both genders and all support conversations between every unit done.
FE3H Parents...
I know, I should be finishing the previous post but, did you ever notice how just about ALL the parents in FE3H are basically shit or dead?!  Spoilers ahead, obviously.
Oh boy, just about everyone has some abusive/neglectful parents or dead ones. For quite a few the mother isn’t mentioned so I’m assuming she either (A) is dead or (B) is in agreement with the father or (C) opposes the father but will not speak up. So yeah, here’s the giant list.
Blue Lion House
Let’s start with one of the biggest offenders: the BL!
Dimitri - mom, dad, and stepmom all dead. this makes for ttrauma...
Dedue - mom and dad and sister dead
Ashe - mom, dad, and adoptive father all dead. while Lonato was kind enough to allow ashe and his siblings to live with him, he also chose to not tell ashe the truth about what happened to his adoptive brother and then sacrificed himself for the sake of trying to avenge his true son instead of continuing to care for the children he’d taken in...
Felix - brother dead, father all but abandons/ignores him to tend to Dimitri
Sylvain - father views him as a studhorse and that his crest is the only good thing about him - cannot see Sylvain as an actual person; brother disowned and likely abusive towards him
Ingrid - father views her as a tool for furthering their family / solving the problem of the family debt and is willing to marry her off against her will for this cause
Annette / Gilbert - father literally abandons his daughter and wife due to own depression. he’s totally alive and out there but just can’t bring himself to give a crap about either...Annette’s mother sounds like an actual OK parent though. Oh and her uncle wanted her to be “perfect” and would get angry and scream at her if she made any mistakes...
Mercedes - father’s dead and her new stepfather viewed her as expendable and then, wanting to expand his influence, decided that he could just sleep with her, his own stepdaughter, to get what he wanted. Mercedes’ mom seem to be an okay person though. then the man that adopted her adopted her only for her crest and to try and use her to advance himself...
....so yeah, some possible parents in Annette’s and Mercedes’s mothers but otherwise all shit fathers....
Golden Deer
it’s harder to tell here in some cases due to lack of info...but....
Claude - messed up family tree and early life due to prejudice. Who knows if either mom or dad ever stood up for him. Claude recounts on multiple times how he stood up from himself (which begets the question why mom or dad didn’t). Also grandfather is a racist.
Lorentz - father taught him that all that is important is being nobility and Lorenz ate it up, willing to even give up someone he loves if they happen to be a commoner. Also his father wanted to murder people...so yeah
Raphael - dead parents
Ignatz - from what little I can find about them, they might actually somewhat OK parents...barring the whole they want him to be a knight for their own gain and thus abandon his own dreams... but they are part of the reason Raphael has none of his own anymore.
Leonie - her father’s a hunter and she runs into Jeralt as a child who she hangs around with....what father lets his child hang around with a strange mercenary?!
Marianne - adopted so originally parents did not want her / could not keep her. Adopted dad might be OK but then again, look at how Marianne is....
Hilda - younger sister of a brother so she was likely ignored as a child, given the family already had an heir. her laziness has to come from somewhere and I suspect it’s neglect.
Lysithea - oh boy, well this is the horror story isn’t it. In a way, the whole thing that happened to her is sorta the fault of her family for helping out with Hrym’s revolt....and the consequences fell onto their kids. Although they were obviously against what happened, if they had stayed out of the whole Hrym thing, this would have never happened....also after this whole incident, they let their daughter, the only one left, be burdened with the task of trying to advance their low-standing house instead of comforting her...
Black Eagles
and here’s another edition of very shiity parents, BE edition!
Edelgard - well, anyone who’s played 3H knows how shitty HER childhood was...so, i’ll just leave it at that...
Ferdinand - father is a creep, literally working with TWSITD and responsible for what happened to Edelgard. For having such a shit father, it’s a wonder Ferdinand is so normal.
Hubert - implied to have bee the person who assassinated his own father...so yeah, imagine how shitty he must have been
Caspar - overshadowed by his older brother and ignored by his family due to being not the eldest child...
Linhardt - not much is known about his family but looking at how lazy and unmotivated Linhardt himself is, they can’t have done a good job
Dorothea - orphan. to add to this, her mom was a maid and her dad a noble. he kicked them out when doro didn’t get a crest...and then HIT ON HER while she was a singer years later, unaware she was his kid....
Petra - father was killed and her grandfather is seemingly her only family. he seems to be okay.
Bernadetta - oh boy, do I even need to say here? tying her to a chair and forcing her to remain quiet and submissive for hours. beating to near death a boy she made friends with b/c he was a commoner. at least Bernie’s mom seemed to have a little sense and smuggled her out but this is only AFTER she allows this stuff to go on for years....
yeah, more shitty parents!
Church of Seiros
of couse, we gotta add more in!
Byleth - mother dies and father is killed in front of them, although Jeralt was a good dad.
Rhea - her issues with her mother are the root of a LOT of the problems here!
Jeritza - see mercedes under BL
Alois - an orphan. then taken in by jeralt since his face “looked like the dead squires”. also the whole ‘bar’ incident where jeralt threw a hatchet at him...
Catherine - exiled as a young girl due to PLOT. she was protected by the church but after how many years, neither has found her apparently...
Shamir - partner and likely her parents killed during the issues with Dagda...
Hannerman - parents neglected his sister for not having a crest
Seteth / Flayn - well, Seteth is the opposite of most of the parents as he’s not neglectful but rather overbearing due to the events from the past...which makes him not the best dad for Flayn (given his constant bothering and sheltering). But unlike most of the other parents on the list, Seteth is doing what he’s doing to PROTECT his child (unwilling to see her to come to harm), even if he’s going about it in the incorrect way.
so, apparently the unifying theme for almost all the characters in FE3H is dead/abusive/neglectful parents...yeah...
