Chapter 2: Connections

They entered the house in silence, with Erik in the lead. The door was the only sign so far of the speedster, it had been knocked off its hinges and lay broken in half in the living room. The whole house reeked of beer, there were obvious signs this place was the local teens’ party house, between the smell, empty beer bottles, raggy couches and chalk graffiti scribbled all over the floor and walls.

Once they were inside Charles broke the silence. “Peter, it’s us… Charles, Erik and Moira.”

No response. Somewhere they heard a bat squeak.

“We’re here to help.”

The silence was oddly deafening, and Erik frowned. “Look kid you can’t hide from a mind like the professor’s, trust me. Just come on out before you get hepatitis from hanging out in here.”

Charles sighed and gave him a pointed look. “It’s okay Peter, I know what happened. You did absolutely nothing wrong. Erik is going to come help you down.”

Erik raised an eyebrow, feeling a flush of irritation. Sure, he was game for repaying a favor, but must he also be degraded in the process? The great Magneto, capable of destroying the world, now teen angst councilor?

“It’s as I feared, he reverted to his natural speed and destroyed that store. He’s very scared and in a great deal of pain, he needs help down, he can’t walk,” Charles rattled off what he must be getting from the kid, though he sounded more like a tape recorder, listing baking ingredients. “Third room off the hall. Up there.”

Erik contemplated if it was a compliment Charles needed him to do the heavy lifting as he made his way upstairs, but when he slowly pushed open the squeaky door of the third room off the hall, he realized there wouldn’t be any heavy lifting involved. He’d remembered Peter as a scrawny, pale, silver-haired boy from the pentagon with a smile not unlike a chipmunk, but here and now, he looked ridiculously trivial. The boy was in the furthest corner, knees pulled up to his chest, part of his form was hidden by a dust ridden curtain that no longer bore any original color due to sun fade. He blended in so well in fact, he’d almost missed him as he glanced around the room.

Erik’s resentment melted away as foreign emotional strings tugged on his heart. His very footsteps toward Peter faltered, softening. He held out his hand as he seen panic flare up in the dark brown eyes. “As Charles said. I’m here to help.” Why, he didn’t know exactly. “If you take off again, you’ll bring this whole place down on us. I don’t think you’d want that, do you?”

Tears were building up in Peter’s eyes, as he fervently shook his head, simultaneously pushing himself further into the wall, as if he could escape backward. Magneto hesitated; the boy’s response was something he himself was quite accustomed to seeing in others—fear. And Magneto had killed people for far less, weakness had always infuriated him. How could anyone not fight for what they believed in? For their rights? For their country? At the least, for themselves? Cowardliness was a death sentence in his opinion. The hunger growled from a chasm in his stomach, begging to be free, suddenly he was aware of everything metal in the room, of how easy it would be. He could feel the old copper wiring behind Peter in the wall, all it would take was the briefest thought and he could strangle him. Put him out of this pathetic misery. He wouldn’t feel pain anymore. Really, he would be doing him a kindness.

But Erik reigned in his dark thoughts, Peter’s face was a reminder of Egypt, of all the bad things Erik had allowed himself to do after the misery of his wife and daughter. Peter was just a kid, as the professor had reminded him earlier. He was one small right that Erik could make, he doubted it would ease his own chasm of pain, but it couldn’t hurt to try.

He stopped, crouching down. “I’m not going to hurt you; I’ve come to take you back to the school.”

As tears slipped down his ashen cheeks, Peter opened his mouth to say something several times, but no words came out. Erik was not talented at filling in people’s thoughts for them, that was Charles’ forté. He was a man of action. Instead, with all the care he could bring to bear, he reached forward, taking Peter’s hand, he slid up his arm to grasp his bicep—he was preparing to help him stand when the kid’s bony fingers gripped into his arm suddenly.

“I can’t—my leg—I can’t move. If I do, it’s gonna happen again.”

“What?”

“My speed.” Quicksilver was shaking his head violently and pushing away from Erik with his extended arm again. “I can’t. Can’t. Can’t.”

“Careful, Erik.” Charles’ warning issued up the stairs. At least he was staying out of his head.

“I’ll carry you; you won’t even have to stand up. Sound good?”

Peter gave him an ambivalent glance up and down; his eyes were full of questions he was refusing to voice, Erik felt sure he could guess a few. “I-I guess so.”

“Is your speed natural, or is it something you simply turn on?” Erik asked, trying to keep his mind on a different subject other than his fear, as he relocated himself to Peter’s side.

The confusion tactic seemed to work, his eyes narrowed slightly, and he blinked a few times. “I am naturally a speedster, walking—like everyone else—that requires much more effort.”

Erik crouched back down. “That’s what I thought. The way I see it is you did everyone a favor.”

“I took out half the neighborhood!” Quicksilver clamped his eyes closed, dealing with a wave of pain, his body trembled but possibly not from pain or cold, Erik noted the millions of tiny vibrations along his outline; if he’d been standing, he would’ve already been gone and the house would be collapsing on their heads. Erik could react fast enough to redirect the debris from himself but Moira and Charles as well? He wasn’t sure.

Erik, be gentle.

So much for the Professor staying out of his head. I’ve got him, back off.

“I’m not trying to upset you. Hey, hey look at me,” Erik’s order came out more forcefully than he’d intended, but he was used to being firm, commanding. And the kid’s reaction, his immediate obedience, was of a child-like nature, his eyes searching Erik’s face for stability, for answers. It was the look of respect his little Nina had given him, when he’d guided her with her gift, or reprimanded her for letting mice in the house. The rush of pain and anger threatened to overwhelm him again.

“I never liked going to Millie’s Produce.”

Peter settled ever so slightly, his voice was small and unsteady. “Really?”

Erik seized the opportunity to effortlessly lift him away from his huddled corner and secure him inside his strong arms, scooping him up and standing in one swift motion, he gripped the kid’s slight arm and thigh to make sure he couldn’t escape. Which provoked a sharp cry of pain as Erik’s burly hand grasped Peter’s twice-injured leg, his fingers came in contact with blood seeping through his pants.

“Yeah, that store had the highest prices in town, maybe they’ll go under new management.”

“And the cars along the way?”

“Well, now they all have a very intriguing story to tell. You know, something to spice up their dull, little lives.”

His response netted him a subtle snort, almost a laugh. Erik felt oddly satisfied of his work as a distraction to the kid’s self-caused situation. Again, he wasn’t really sure why. But he couldn’t deny as he caried him cautiously down the stairs and joined the others, that he felt more accomplished than he had for the last few weeks toiling away on the mansion.

He took care placing the frail boy in the car, physically adjusting Peter’s legs, especially the one he couldn’t use. Again, not sure why. He told himself, if you were going to do something, do it right. His mother use to say something similar when he was just a boy, it seemed fitting here. He fastened the seatbelt across the kid's slight waist, adjusting it so it wasn’t too tight, but making sure it would hold him if he couldn’t control his speedster ways.

He closed the door, concealing his own barely there smirk at Peter’s reaction to his care, he was already lulled backwards, his messy silver head resting on the plush coverings of the seat.

Erik tossed Moira the keys, ignoring the look Charles was passing him, as he opened the rear-passenger door. “You wanted my help; I’ll look after him till we get back to the school. Then I’m done.”

Okay so the new episode of Loki just gave me an idea and now I’m going to share it.

Essentially, Anya survives the fire that was supposed to kill her, but the TVA agents (or the xmcu version of them) comes to take her bc she wasn’t meant to live. They overpower Erik and Magda easily, take Anya through the portal thingy, reset the timeline, and then bring a confused and very scared Anya to the TVA.

She goes through the same process that all the other variants do, and right as the judge demands for her to be reset (or brainwashed?), one of the TVA agents hears little Anya (who is three and has no idea what is going on) crying out and, maybe triggered by a past memory that had suddenly resurfaced, decides to grab her and use the telepad thingy to get them both out of there.

And so, Anya spends most of her childhood years running from the TVA with the agent who saved her. They, like Sylvie, hide out in Apocalypses, but eventually, when Anya is around ten or eleven, the TVA manages to find them. They send a group of agents to capture them, and the agent who saved Anya sacrifices themself so she can get away.

This leaves Anya terrified, angry, grieving, and all alone. But she has to keep running, because she doesn’t want the TVA to catch up to her.

But, as she grows older and older, Anya starts to get tired of it. She wants to have a normal life, but she hasn’t had that since she was three. She can barely even remember her parents at this point, and all she has left of them is one crumpled picture that had been given to her by the agent who saved her.

Eventually, after another close call with the TVA agents sent to capture her, she decides to get revenge on them, to bring the TVA down like Sylvie tried too. Because they were the ones who ruined her life, and Anya wants them to pay.

So Anya spends the next decade killing TVA agents, forming a plan to overthrow the timekeepers, and stealing reset charges. And the TVA start getting worried, bc she may be a human with no special abilities, but she is growing disturbingly close to her goal, and they don’t like that.

So what do they do? Kidnap her brother, of course!

Here Peter is, kind of just minding his own business in his room at the school sometime after the whole Apocalypse thing, when a bunch of people dressed in really weird outfits come in through a portal, grab him, and take him to the TVA. (And, for plot’s sake, they don’t reset his timeline — maybe he was meant to disappear, idk. Just roll with it please)

They tell Peter that they are hunting another version of himself and he’ll only be able to go home once they catch the variant, bc if they told him that they were hunting his sister from another timeline they knew he wouldn’t help them. So yeah, they lie, and Peter, who just wants to go home, agrees to do it.

But Peter can tell that there’s something else up, and so he does a bit of digging when the TVA agents aren’t monitoring him. He finds out that it’s Anya that they’re hunting, and, after having an internal freak out, decides he wants to find Anya and get her side of the story. He pretends to help the TVA, but when they aren’t watching him, he’s doing his best to find out where Anya could be so he could get to her before the TVA does.

But eventually, the TVA find what part of the timeline she is hiding out in, and right as the TVA agents close in around her, Peter grabs his sister, speeds her far away from the TVA agents, and explains the situation to Anya before she could try and murder him as well.

To say Anya is surprised is an understatement, but after interrogating him for a bit, she is quick to accept Peter. (Especially since she never got the chance to meet her own version of the twins) So she fills him in on the plan on how to overthrow the timekeepers/TVA, and while they are doing it, they come across a version of Nina, who also got taken by the TVA when she ended up surviving.

With the three of them working together, they manage to overthrow the timekeepers, fix the TVA so it’s less corrupt and only interferes when it’s actually needed, and after a few more months, manage to find their way back to Peter’s timeline. Bc both Nina and Anya’s timelines were destroyed, so they really have nowhere else to go.

But Peter has been missing for a little over a year in his timeline, so by the time he appears at the school with his sisters in tow, most of the x men think he’s dead, and when they see him, they’re all in shock. Erik, however, goes right up to Peter and gives him the biggest hug he can manage, bc Raven had told him about their relation and he thought Peter was dead, so he’s obviously overjoyed to see his only son alive.

Wanda is also there btw, bc she had been informed by Ororo as soon as Peter disappeared. So she quickly squeezes into the hug, relieved to see her twin alive and well.

Then, as Erik is pulling away from the hug, prepared to either start asking Peter a hundred questions or apologize for not being there, he sees Anya and Nina. And although Anya had only been a toddler when she died, he recognizes her (and Nina) immediately.

Nina approaches him first, practically barreling into him — bc the last time she had seen him had been when the TVA reset her timeline — and while Anya, who barely remembers him, comes more slowly, she quickly melts into his arms when he pulls her, Peter, Wanda, and Nina in for a hug.

And after many hard years, their broken family is finally reunited.

A concept: Peter having Luna maybe three or so years before the whole Apocalypse thing but like, none of the x men are made aware of her existence until a few months after everything went down.

Essentially, he and Crystal realized they probably weren’t working out as a couple sometime during the pregnancy, but they agreed that they would both be there for their daughter and co-parent her as best as they could. And even though they weren’t together by the time Luna was born, they still decided to live in the same house — just to make things easier. It confused a lot of people, but Crystal and Peter didn’t really care.

As far as they were concerned, they were just two really good friends taking care of their only daughter.

Anyways, even when Peter joins the x men and moves into the school, he makes sure to visit Luna as much as possible. And seeing as he has super speed ‘as much as possible’ is just another way of saying he still sees her everyday, he just doesn’t live in the same house anymore — and little three-year-old Luna barely even notices that he doesn’t live with her and Crystal anymore because Peter visits so often.

But the x men are not aware of Peter having a daughter. Well, they all notice that Peter likes spending a lot of time outside the school whenever he’s not teaching, hanging out with students, or on a mission, but they assume that he’s just going on a run or something, not that he’s visiting his daughter and best friend who also happens to be the mother of his child. And it’s not that Peter is trying to keep Luna a secret or anything, it’s just that he sort of forgets that none of them know she exists.

But one day, Crystal tells Peter that she’s going to another country for a work meeting or something, and she wants Peter to take Luna while she’s gone. Peter, of course, is perfectly happy to do so. And little Luna is very excited to see where her father works and lives.

So Peter packs most of Luna’s toys, food, and other stuff, and he goes straight to his room to unpack all of it, not even bothering to tell anyone that his daughter would be staying at the school for a bit. Anyways, once he’s done, he realizes that, while he had been setting everything up, Luna had wandered off. Terrified, he starts zooming throughout the entire school, looking for his daughter.

He eventually finds her in the kitchen. But she isn’t alone. There’s a large group of students surrounding Luna, all of them marveling at how adorable she is. Luna is very clearly enjoying the attention, but as soon as she sees her dad standing in the doorway, she runs past all of the students and just flings herself at him. Peter catches her, lifts her up, and just hugs her to his chest because holy shit he was so worried.

And the group of students that had been surrounding Luna just gape at him, completely silent. And then Jean, who had been a part of this group of students, is like ‘what the fuck since when do you have a daughter?!’

And when the x men are made aware of Luna’s existence, they pretty much say the same thing.

This is so interesting I want to what will happen next , will she meet peter ? , Will she think as her brother ?, I want them to meet , I want her to erik with peter off cause , I want to know what will happen or I can't sleep

I got an idea and needed to share so here-

Essentially, instead of creating the hex and taking a whole town hostage, Wanda’s explosion of magic causes her to travel through various different worlds in a matter of seconds before eventually ending up in the X-Men universe. She figures this out quickly and is a mix of devastated and relieved because no one knew who she was or what she did here, but on the other hand, she had no idea if she could get back to her world where the Avengers were.

Anyways, Wanda learns about the existence of mutants (let’s say she ends up there sometime after Erik revealed their existence) and she gets super excited because she’s not the only one in this world with odd and dangerous abilities. But she also learns about how they’re treated by humans and is upset bc the government here is not all that different from the one in her world. And she knows first hand what humans do to those who they’re afraid of.

Wanda wants to do something to help mutants, but she’s all alone in a world and time that’s not her own. And she has no idea how to even start helping. So Wanda eventually decided to try and fit in with this new time and figure out what to do next later. She builds a house in the woods not far from the nearest town with her magic, and she spends a lot of time reading about mutants and wondering about what to do next.

She soon realizes that she’s kind of happy in this world. The loss of Vision (and Pietro) still hurts a lot, but in a world where no one is accusing her of being a monster, a world where there are people like her, a world where she can be free, she can finally heal and live. Sure, Wanda misses her friends back home, but she couldn’t keep living the way she did back there. So, after a few months, she decides to stay (not that she knew how to get back to her world in the first place, but you get what I mean)

But then, while she’s in town one day, she overhears a conversation about the government facilities where mutants are being gathered, held hostage, and experimented on. Wanda, remembering her time with Hydra, throws herself into figuring out where these government facilities were, and once she does, she decides to do something about it.

Wanda Maximoff doesn’t like hurting people, but when she breaks into the first facility, all of that is thrown to the side. She rips the place apart with her magic: burning files, destroying information, killing the humans who ran the place, and freeing the mutants held hostage. She brings the mutant children back to their homes, and for the first time in a while, she feels... proud of herself. Theres no anger, no guilt — not even for the humans she killed, because they had it coming — and when she’s thanked by the mutants she saved, it ignites something within her that she hasn’t felt in a long time.

She decides to keep doing it.

Wanda continues breaking into government facilities, continues freeing the mutants held there. She makes sure to hide her face of course, because she’s been on the run for enough times in her life and doesn’t need to be on the run here. And eventually, whispers of a powerful mutant with magic as red as blood freeing those trapped in the government facilities start making their way around.

They aren’t all good whispers though. There is a bounty on her head, people calling for her arrest. But they don’t know what she looks like, as she always makes sure to conceal her face. But they know that she is a woman, and people start calling her ‘The Scarlet Witch’ and some even go as far as to call her ‘daughter of Magneto’ which Wanda doesn’t think much of bc she has no idea that he’s technically her father. But Charles, Raven, Erik, and a few others certainly find it interesting.

Charles tries contacting her through the Cerebro, but Wanda’s magic makes it hard for her to be found. It almost conceals her, in a way. And this only serves to put him on edge. Because the Cerebro has never failed to find a mutant before. But he doesn’t know that Wanda is technically human, just enhanced.

Erik, who is in Poland after the whole ‘trying to kill another president fiasco,’ considers trying to find her. Not because he thinks she’s actually his daughter, but because she is clearly powerful and would be an extreme help in his goals to help mutantkind. But he ultimately chooses not to because he has Nina and his wife, and he doesn’t want to put them in any kind of danger.

Then En Sabah Nur wakes up, and he learns of this ‘Scarlet Witch’ who has been freeing mutants over the past few years and has been shown to be incredibly powerful. He wants to recruit her, but Wanda is extremely hard to track down. Still, he finds her after a hard search, and when he does, he tells her he wants her to join him.

But Wanda has had enough of evil assholes trying to get her to help them with world domination

So yeah, she isn’t interested.
