It’s kind of neat that for their first stop-motion film made under the LAIKA banner — at the time the longest running stop-motion film ever made, and to this day their highest grossing and one of their most acclaimed stop-motion movies — they made a movie about dolls.

It’s a movie that was animated by moving literal dolls one frame at a time, and also in the text the characters are. Dolls. They have button eyes and they’re filled with sawdust. They’re dolls made by a witch and they live in a house that looks like a massive dollhouse, and the characters who aren’t dolls are also dolls because. It’s stop motion. They’re dolls.

(Here's some concept design ideas I have in mind for Mephiles in the Mephiles Reborn Au)

1# They have one large red eye in their chest and four similar ones on their back. They can produce more of these all over their body.

2# In their demon form, the dragonfly hairclip now resembles that of Solaris.

3# They can produce six pairs of wings made of white stone with multiple red eyes when they reach a powered-up state.
